Not that I've read many books in these games, but I remember reading one called "The Locked Door", it was quite a story and it gave you a point in security.
I loved the "A dance in Fire" series and the "2920, Last Year of the First Era" series as well. Very well writen and put together.
The 2920 series without doubt...they rock.
Ahhh agree Tellie..but one of my favourites is "The Real Barenziah"....oooohhh
my favorite was ABC's for orcs
you guys read these books in the game, man i can barly stand taking the time to open them to see if I get an upgrade
i liked the wolf queen series.... real intersting and spicy....
A is for Atronautch (Spelling)
B is for uhh
C is for comberry
XD They shouldnt of cut it off.
I cant remember thw title but i remember the story lol
About this expert theif and she hires this dumb barbarian to help her ransack a tomb and the barbarian keeps saying weird things like doors turn to walls wait one month then return and at the end she goes into the room with the treasure the door turns into a stone wall and shes trapped a month later the barbarian arrives knocks down the wall and takes the treasure like he was saying , doors to walls wait a month and return
Trap- good twist at the end
Dance in Fire
The Real Barenziah- of course, the ones in Daggerfall were more...interesting.
Hrm. Lets see:
2920
A Dance In Fire
Hallgerd's Tale
The Wolf Queen
The Hope of the Redoran
The Axe Man
Trap
The Black Arrow
Bone
Feyfolken
Palla
And many, many more...
Morrowind had some awesome books.
I also liked "how Orisinium passed to the Orcs" a very well written story about how Lord Gortworg gro-Nagorm won the homeland of his people. It also raises your heavy armour skill. One gripe I have with Oblivion is the fact that almost all the books in the game are from Morrowind. To be honest, apart from "The Argonian Account", "A report: Disaster at Ionith", "Manual of arms and armour", the guides to the cities and some book about a thief in Sutch I couldn't find any new books. It's like they borrowed 200 books from Morrowind and they made only 20 new ones for Oblivion.
Definately Capn's Guide to the Fishy Stick.
Oh, I left out The Axe Man and The Black Arrow books, both had unexpected endings which is what I loved about Morrowind books, they usually had a moral to each story and a surprise that wasn't very predictable. A dance in fire had a very unexpected ending which made it awesome.
Now as you mention it...mixed unit tactics is a really interesting book...so is the Vampires of Vvardenfell books, and the Brothers of Darkness...
I always prefer the books that give you knowledge on Tamrielic Lore, so, the Vampires of Vvardenfell I and II, the Corpse preparation series, 2920 etc etc...
the only one i have ever read was this one about a chick who was an adept pickpocket who teamed up with a dumb barbarian. the barbarian always said a set of numbers and words, but i cant remember. she teamed up with him so he would kill the monsters and stuff, and she would unlock doors and stuff, then she would ditch him. they got to the treasure room and she got trapped in the room and he left with the loot. i cant remem what it was called, tho...
you can find the book in the storage part under the arena in vivec.
Join the club, I'm a thief... it could happen to me! (has happened, sort of, got caught on a big rock when levitating, a barbarian came along and beat me to death with a crummy iron warhammer.) Poor, Poor Chance has to learn to kill people Before getting to the treasure room, or to listen to crazy people
Everyone is forgetting The Book of Wood. I liked that one.
Rainer loved The Real Barenziah, as well as the Ahzirr Trajijazaeri, and Chances Folly, and the Unnamed Book, as well as Silence, and Breathing Water, but he absolutely loved Feyfolkien.
I've only read three books, lol. My favs are:
ABC's for Barbarians (Real short)
Chance's Folly (Ironic)
The Mirror (AWESOME!!!)
My new character just went on a Cammonna Tong killing spree underneath Fat Leg's dropoff in Hla Oad. There, I read 'Suffeit of thieves' or something like that. The whole name thing was quite interesting, albeit a bit gruesome.
Read 'Tressed' backwards and you'll know what I mean. Let this be a lesson, don't take on other names than the one you're born with. And if you do take on an other name, make sure it won't lead you to trouble.
Spirit of the Daedra and Ashland Hymns
I like Spirit of the daedra because it tells of the feelings and lives(somewhat) of the daedra. It kinda showed me that they arent just killing machines without feelings. Ashland Hymns, it just something that i really like to read from time to time... as somewhat of a lift-me-up thing for the day.
Hmm, I do like the 2920 series. And a book called: A marksmanship lesson.
Oh yeah, I remember the lesson. It was very interesting, especially the ending.
I also suggest that you read 'The locked room'. Very interesting book with a nice plot twist at the end. You can find one in the top level of Hlormaren Keep, north of Hla Oad.
If you like one with a sick plot twist, read the Palla series. I think it's just a two part series but the twist at the end made me cringe at the disturbingness of it. Soooo good though
I think that "A Dance in Fire" series and "Chance's Folly" both had incredibly surprising endings, I gotta say, they had some amazing writers working for them.
"polish my spear!"
"but its huge! it will take me all night!"
-the lusty argonian maid
i also like "a game at dinner"
Progress Of Truth is one of the few I managed to read out. But maybe my favourite is... A Dance In The Fire.
//Daedroth
Yeah, I'm pretty much dredging up old threads in this forum right now.
There are lots of good books in TES. My favorites are 2920, The Real Barenziah, A Game at Dinner, and (when I feel like delving into something confusing), the 36 Lessons.
Another one that no one else has listed but I happen to be really partial to is The Story of Aevar Stone-Singer. I like it because it's simple, yet carries a mythic quality to it. It uses parallel structure, which is one of my favorite literary devices. It also doesn't overstay its welcome.
I forgot the name of the book, but it was about a girl, a thief in Balmora who was known as Chance. 'twas in Morrowind. Really good story in my opinion.
Ah yes, that was it. Thanks.
One of my favorites was the Poison Song series. I never actually found all the books but I went to The Imperial Library and read it all the way through. Those Dagoth House people are truly crazy!
Ius, Animal God <3 My brother and I nearly pulled something laughing at that when we were younger. Daggerfall had the best books.
I also liked On Lycanthropy, The Asylum Ball, and The Arrowshot Woman.
I like the one u can get in the light house in seyda neen, canīt remember the name though A wraith wedding or something
Now that I really think about it, my favorite book was "The Rear Guard". No morbid crap, no twists [well... no morbid twists at the end, at least], nothing but One-Bosmer-Army, defeating entire armies one apple at a time.
I love so many books in Oblivion. Alot of them really had awesome twists in the end! Among my favorites are:
A Game at Dinner
Surfeit of Thieves
The Black Arrow series
Ruins of Kemel-Ze
Immortal Blood
Master Zoaraym's Tale
Purloined Shadows
Immortal Blood by:Annonymus
I'm not sure who wrote the book, but it's very interesting.
The thief of virtue
I like it
Purloined shadows
It seems to be about how the gray fox got the cowl. I find it investing.
The woddcutter's wife
I like horror stories
The Cabin in the woods
I like horror stories
Immortal Blood is about Movarth
Because it's Anonymous lol
For the first time in Oblivion I've managed to acquire Black Arrow Vol 1 and 2. Great books with thrilling story, especially the 2nd volume.
