Sorian, Chorrol gates.

The guards stared at him silently for far longer than was comfortable. Neither moved and their hands remained at their swords. Sorian swallowed audibly and shifted his balance, ready to jump back at the slightest twitch of the wrong muscle. Finally though, one of them broke the silence.
"Yeah, that sounds acceptable. Report to the barracks. Tell the commander that Mauvis sent you as a volunteer applicant for the Legion." He grunted.

Sorian let out a sigh of relief upon hearing that his offer was accepted but cocked an eyebrow at the title he was supposed to use.
"Applicant?" He asked.
"Officially, it means that you are a potential recruit of the Legion. In practice though, you get to do Legion duties free of pay as a sort of test to see if you qualify. At the end of the qualification period, which lasts three months, the commander decides if you're fit to join us. This also means that at that time you are free to reject the offer of becoming a legionnaire, if you passed the test. If you didn't pass, you're free to walk anyway."

Sorian nodded.
"I see. Well thank you very much." He said and wanted to walk through the gate when he was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.
"Oh, one last thing. Remember that you're only an applicant. You don't have to follow Legion rules and regulations. Breaking them causes you to fail, but since I doubt you really want to join anyway, that doesn't matter. As long as you don't go too far, that is."

As Indor and Rann approached the redguard finished speaking with the guards and seemed to be thanking them. Indor and Rann passed though the gates just behind him.

“Trouble with the guards?” Indor called to the redguard.

Sorian turned around to see that two Dunmer stood behind him, both tall and lean men who gave off a subtle hint of danger. That hint didn't bother him, for he kind of hoped he gave off the same aura. He didn't know which one of the two spoke, so he decided to adress them both.
"There was a minor argument, but it has been solved now. All in all, I must say that I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. Still, thank you for your concern, gentlemen." He said with a quick bow.

"I hope that your exploits have been as successfull for you as mine have been for me." He then added, completely missing the fact that his exploits had been less than sucessfull.
"Although, why did he tell me I didn't have to follow any rules as an applicant? That's weird."

Flint Ironwood, Bruma barracks.

"Well then, if there are no further questions, I'll take my leave. Have a nice day." Flint said and stepped out of the room. Once outside, his shoulders sagged slightly.
"Ok, that was that. Now for the next step. Odrik mentioned that the regular catapults were sabotaged with rotten nails that mysteriously got through quality-control. The same thing might be happening with the project. I guess I'll pay the warehouse of the Siege division a visit, see if there is anything strange going on. But before that, I'll need a full list with all the details of the workers there, where they're from, when they came to work here and most importantly, what they'd been doing last year." He thought.
"Alright, so it's off to my office. I think I'll send a request to the government while I'm at it, so I can check their activities outside working hours."
