I have been planning on doing a mod for Oblivon since before it came out. Currently, my computer is not powerful enough to run the game, so I'm still brainstorming aspects of the mod. The mods story begins as the main games story begins but from a different perspective. I would like to explain it in absolute detail... But here's a summary to pique your interest...

-

The Emporer has been slain by dark forces. In the wake of his death, gates to Oblivion are opening, releasing demons onto the land.

Even worse, various factions vie to take up the empty seat of the Empire for themselves; mercenaries wishing to rule the lands of Tamriel with an iron fist. A confederacy of pirates wishing to plunder the great province of Cyrodiil to finance an unstoppable naval fleet. Rogue sorcerors wishing to acquire all arcane knowladge to bring about a dark age with them as the rulers of it. And finally, vampires wishing to enslave all pureblooded citizens of the Empire as cattle. All sides are hellbent on waging a shadow war against the wounded Empire.

The Ruling Council is unable to deal with all factions closing in from all sides, as the Imperial Legion has suffered a schism in the aftermath of the Emporers' death. An entire nations' future hangs in the balance...

...But as bad as things are, there about to get worse... much worse.

As the shadow war reaches a fever pitch, another, singular force arrives from the icy void of space. An alien predator with one murderous goal: to seek worthy prey...

Hunting season opens in Cyrodiil, this (date N/A)

-

So, as you can guess, I wish to start my own Predator mod for Oblivion. I just wish to know wheter or not anybody out there can send me any suitible Predator sound effects (growls, roars, weapons, cloaking, etc.). I have frequently tried to contact BeanspanX (the creator of the original Predator mod for Morrowind) through Email but it seems that my messages have been unable to reach him.

Of course, if this is an alternative to aquiring sound effects from the films (I would imagine that the AvP 2 game would be a better source), is the Construction Set for Oblivion powerful enough so I can just make my own Predator sound effects? Like, if I took a daedroth roar, reversed it, slowed it down, or sped it up? Thank you, and I'd be happy to recieve anyones' help.

Thanks for the help. I was in dire need of the ideal graphics cards. I was really unsure of which is the one needed.

This mod is for the Pred fans, no AvP shenanigans will be present. (but I still like to suprise people) I have a lot of things planned for this mod. I have scribbled down a lot of notes in preparation for when I get my hands on the Construction Set. I have had a considerable amount of time to think about what to do for this mod. Since I consider myself a huge Alien/Predator fan, (I know Paul W.S. Anderson said the same thing and let quite a few fans down) I hope to deliver the quintessential Predator experiance. Here are the (almost complete) stats that I have planned out:

Race
Predator

Strengths/Specials
Resistant to flame 60%
Immune to Disease
Resistant to Poison
Natural Armor (Physical damage reduced, when unarmored)
Speed greater then native races
Strength greater then native races

Weaknesses
Weakness to Frost 90%
Weakness to Magic 60%

Predator Armor Types
Note: Armor can be mixed and matched

Legs/Greaves
10%
Arms/Left & Right Gaunlets
10%
Groin/Crotch Guard
30%
Stomach/Stomach Guard
5%
Torso/Chest Guard
40%
Face/Helmet
5%

Ceremonial
Type: Light, Stealth oriented
Description: Decorative style-armor, higher energy output for cloak
Example: Predator 2 Armor

Hunter
Type: Medium, Balance oriented
Description: A more practical style of armor, ideal for both Stealth and Combat
Example: Predator 1 Armor

Clan
Type: Heavy, Combat oriented
Description: Heavy combat armor, reduced energy output for cloak. Best protection ratio
Example: AVP(movie) Armor

Weapons

Dagger/Sword
Type: One-handed Melee
Short & long blade variants

Razor Disk/Sun Blade
Type: Right hand Thrown
Numerous variants
Different types can home in on multiple targets
Draws from different power supply then Plasma Caster and Cloak

Poison Dart*
Type: Projectile Ammo, housed in Left Gauntlet
Limited three (3) darts at any given time
Instant kill against weak and mortal races/characters
No variants
Warning: Use only when necessary

Net*
Type: A razor-wire net that snares enemies, housed in Left Gauntlet
Causes substantial damage over long period of time
Limited five cartridges; more depending on Left Gauntlet quality.

Projectile Spear*
Type: Small dart ideal for stealth kills, housed in Left Gauntlet
Acts similer to bullets
20-40 shots

Plasma Caster
Type: Back-mounted Projectile weapon
Weapon has limited number of shots, recharges over time
Draws from differant power supply then Razor Disk and Cloak
Numerous variants

Wrist Blades
Type: Right-handed Melee
Two and three bladed variants
Standard short, specialty long
Can perform Stealth kills

Spear/Naginata
Type: Melee/Thrown
Collapsible & non-collapsible types
Numerous variants
Weapon can be thrown in combat

Hand to Hand
Type: Unarmed Melee
The Predator deals out moderate damage when unarmed
Can perform Stealth kills

Gadgets

Stealth Camouflage "Cloak"
Energy capacity dependant on armor quality
Draws from separate power reservoir then Plasma Caster
Water fouls up cloaking systems
Recharges over time

Vocal Mimicry
Can distract, intimidate and confuse enemies
Infinite uses

Vision Modes
Thermal Vision: Detects body heat; night-vision
qualities
Technical Scan: Detects weapons and other useful items
Neural Scanner: Detects enemies' mental state
NPCs are given these colors:
Red: Enemy, worthy prey
Yellow: Neutral, possibly threatening
Green: Unworthy, dishonorable prey

Explosive Device
Thrown Weapon
Can be used as mine
Plasma: Detonates a searing blast of heat
Sonic: Emits loud blast of sound to stun enemies
Exsplosive: Typical type, shrapnel damage

Left Gauntlet
Houses Net, Poisen Dart, and Projectile Spear
Ammo capacity for each is dependant on the quality of the Left Gauntlet

Notes & Things to Consider:

The Predator CANNOT use torches, human* weapons or human shields and also CANNOT wear human armor. However, the Predator can put shields, armor, weapons and items that are of high value into the its inventory and can be displayed as trophies. The Predator can wear human jewelry, as an exception. In addition, the Predator has no access to magical items, and cannot learn and use spells.

(*"Human" is a general term for all races that are native to the Elder Scrolls world, Mundus: Orcs, the 3 Elf races, the four Human races, and the Beast Races.)

There are various weapon caches around Cyrodiil, all of varying quality. You have two preset slots in your Weapons inventory, one for ranged (Plasma Caster and
Razor Disk), and another for handheld (Dagger/Sword, Spear/Naginata). You can't have both a Spear and Dagger and a Plasma Caster and Razor Disk at the same
time. If you pick up additional weapons of the same type when adventuring, you are unable to swap out and replace the weapon of the same type. You must return
to your hide out to swap out your weapons. Wrist Blades and Poison Darts and other Left Gauntlet ammo types are unaffected by inventory slots. Certain Predator weapons have no effect on immortal races, such as Daedra and Vampires. There are certain weapons made out of special material that can
be used to counter them.

Also, there are various warriors to test your mettle against. Your Honor ranking is based on the number of honorable prey you have defeated. If you kill worthy prey, you gain experience to level up. If you kill unworthy prey, you will be unable level up, and it decreases your Honor rating; this adversely effects your skills.

Stealth Kills are performed when an enemy in unaware of your presence and you are position right behind him/her/it. Stealth kills can be done either unarmed or using Wrist Blades. The target must be humanoid. Sneaking increases chance of a successful Stealth Kill.

*The Net, Poisen Dart and Projectile Spear cannot be housed in the Left Gauntletat the same time. You have to select one of the three you wish to use on the hunt

Keep in mind that this list of Stats/Rules is subject to change; though I really wish to execute all of this in a reasonable amount of time. Also note that I may alter the above statistics in the future.

Yes, I plan to develop this mod. I hope to make the Predator as accurate as possible; I want to make the Predator in a way that has a totally different play style from the premade game style that the developers of Oblivion made.

A couple of things that bothered me about the Predator Prey mod for Morrowind is that there was a Predator that was wearing Netch leather armor. It just wasn't right or trueto the source material. Another thing is that there was another Predator that was holding a torch and it had magic armor (it had the sheen that indicated enchantment). I want to make the mod so it's like the Predator is using its own tools against the warriors of Cyrodiil. I am not knocking Beanspans' mod, it's just that the Predator wouldn't wear native armor, or use a torch. (It has infrared, more so the torch would obscure most of its vision)

Although it would be wise to get some help from some outside talent, or use the Construction Set to teach myself how to use it effectively. I just hope I can deliver in a way to please Predator fans.

I disagree, but that's your opinion. I have seen other Elder Scrolls fans whom share a similar opinion that making an extensive mod defeats the purpose of having the videogame in the first place.

Well 1), It doesn’t. I plan to have three characters; An Orc to play through the vanilla Oblivion campaign(maybe with some mods fix certain gampley bugs, but that’s it) my second character would be a Wood Elf who becomes a Vampire and I play through the game as such. And of course, a member of everyone’s favorite alien head-hunting race, a Predator. It is not as if the original, unmodified core quest is gone forever if I modify it; I can deactivate any mods at any time.

2), I would like to make my own game, and I need Oblivion to do so. I am fascinated with the idea of the Predator being dropped into an environment that people would not see it in, normally. (I.e., a Predator fighting Elves, Orcs, Sorcerers, armored knights and generally anybody without access to firearms in a world that is centuries behind in technology, but makes up for it in its ability to utilize magic) Another reason is because I dont think anybody else is going to create the exact mod that I want to make. I know that there is a Predator mod for Morrowind, but I haven’t played it (I don't have ES3 for the PC) With that said I'll say that I'm not interested in ripping people off, least of all the work of the person who inspired me in the first place (I do not plan on playing the Predator: Prey Mod for Elder Scrolls III; I want the conceptions that I have for my own mod to be un-influenced by the mod that came before it). Not only that, I know that some one else may want to create their own Predator mod; and that's okay, I wont stop anybody who wants to create his or her own Predator mod or any other mod they wish to create.

And 3), creating such extensive mods is not only allowed, it is encouraged by Bethesda, so if one wants to create a huge, game-changing mod, they could. It does not defeat the purpose of owning the game if the company that developed the game encouraged that you mod the game and make it your own eliminates the argument that converting defeats owning the game.

The reason why I have not considered buying the AvP games is because I have invested a considerable amount of resources into Oblivion (and will invest more, as I do not have a computer strong enough to run it, yet)

But, most importantly, with all due respect, I cannot simply just drop all plans because other people don't like the idea of me modding the game to include Predators.

I can honestly go on and on with arguements for converting: It's a creative outlet. It creates a connection between players in the absence of multiplayer. It could very well serve as a tool to teach aspiring graphic designers. It could change the game to somebody elses liking. Prehaps people like Predators in there Oblivion. yada yada yada...

In conclusion, the reason I ultimately wish to create such a monumental conversion is really, (well, why we play games in the first place) for fun.

I apologize for my earlier rant; I do respect the opinion of Tlo1048, but I feel that I blew things out of proportion in my rebuttal. Again, I apologize.

With that said, I think that I have been a bit vague in my description of what I have planned for my Predator Mod; plans I think I should elaborate on as I am on the verge of obtaining a computer powerful enough to run Oblivion. Seeing that a Predator mod has been done before, I hope that mine can be different enough from BeanspanX's Predator Prey Mod. I have read a bit about it, and I can safely say that they have absolutely no connection story-wise as I have not played it. I want to reinforce the fact that this project has no connection to BeanspanX's story or with Beanspan in any way. The only major similarity is that there are Predators in the Elder Scrolls universe. I merely wish to state all this, as I want this mod to be something completely different. I also have a completely different explanation for Predators being there in the first place, and it's actually the tried and true formula that is identical to the first Predator film with one exception: the Predator simply comes to hunt, but this time he finds bigger game than he bargained for. The Predators are also entwined in the Elder Scrolls universe in a much different fashion; they aren't going to be like just any other race in the ES universe, as they are now described as the stuff of legend by the races of Tamriel, and feared by those who know of them.

Also, I think that I should describe some points of the story: (Before the actual game starts) The Predator has been on Nirn for a couple of months, finding no prey that is really worth its attention. It is on the verge of leaving Nirn with what trophies it has but changes its mind when it spies a pirate ship with the crew apparently gearing up for war. It boards the ship while invisible and stows away for two months, right before the pirates plan to attack and capture the coastal town of Leyawiin.

(The game starts) Imagine Leyawiin at night; the town is secured, and the guards feel that the citizens of the town can sleep safely while in their care. Until, suddenly, a pair of guards spies a ship off in the distance in the Topal Bay. Knowing that no ships have been scheduled to dock that night, or for that matter, anytime in the coming days, they deduce that they are pirates and sound the alarm and mobilize the guards at the docks. The guards create a defensive formation around the wharf…

The ship draws closer, not reducing its speed and showing no indication that anybody is running it. It slams into the wharf; the guards scatter while the ship shatters the wooden dock until it crashes into stone and comes to a abrupt halt.

The guards then board the vessel, seeing that it is curiously unmanned, with little sign of struggle or vigor. The guards thoroughly search the ship and find nothing. That is, until one guard stumbles on what remains of the crew: their skinned bodies hanging from the crows’ nest (someone didn’t look up and they were wrapped in the sails). Incidentally, another alarm is raised and all guards are called to answer it… leaving the ship unguarded.

A short time later, a couple of Thieves Guild uh… Thieves come to take what they can from the ship as it’s unguarded. One decides to go under the deck while the other searches for something worth selling topside. After a couple of moments, the thief up on deck hears screaming and a stomach-wrenching death rattle from below deck. He tries to run, but to late; his fate was sealed the second he set foot on the deck.
Without warning, as the thief tries to run of the deck of the ship, a huge, hulking form explodes from below-deck and slays the unfortunate thief. After a few seconds of silence, the Predator let loose a head-splitting roar.

And that’s where the game begins.

The first thing I plan to do with this mod is try to model and texture a Predator face. Predictably, it is going to be hard. If anyone knows of someone, I would appreciate the help. Or, if someone knows an article that would be helpful, I would appreciate that too.

Yeah this mod would be INSANELY hard to produce.
The custom armor itself is a great feta to produce, considering the difficulties of getting such things into oblivion, then making things like nets and guns will be obsurdly difficult... you're practically writing up a whole new game. And no matter how hard you work on this fans will complain their asses off if you mess it up in the slightest (which I don't see anyone being able to make a mod this difficult perfect) how much modding experience do you have? I'm just assuming that you must have been modding morrowind night and day or else you wouldn't even dream of something like this. I don't know. ALso it's a good idea to play oblivion, and play the Ob CS to find it's strengths and weaknesses before trying to do this.
That being said I lovepredator, and if a mod as impossible as this was made I'd love it.
