I have NWN and BGII on Steam. Never played the first Baldur's Gate.

NWN I think is running on a different edition of D&D, and is a little easier to get into. You're not trying to run with a full party either, unlike Baldur's Gate. Only thing that made me sad about NWN was that when they added visible cloaks, it hid my poor Red Dragon Disciple's wings.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Apr 16 2019, 01:44 PM) *

I played BG 1 and enjoyed it okay. I found BG II very fun though and stayed there for a few years. Never played NWN. I think you'll find SubRosa to be quite knowledgeable on those games. Hopefully she can provide some insight.

This is now 3 people recommending BGII (both of you and another guy over at Beth.net). Khajiit may just get that if it’s really that good.

NWN 1 was excellent. I still break it out to play from time to time. It is only you and one companion, and it uses the D&D 3.0 version rules (or maybe it is 3.5, I forget).

The two BG games are older, and use the crappier 2.0 rules. They are still good games though. Both have your PC + up to 5 companions, so they are bigger dungeon crawlers.

Check out the NWN and BG topics for more info.

Hmm. I may have to finally start Neverwinter Nights then. GOG had it for free one time so I figured I would snatch it up. I prefer single-character over a party, but one companion sounds like a happy medium. Although I do need to get back to Divinity: Original Sin at some point.

I've also been thinking about getting back into Oblivion. But...I really need to change the potato faces. And I still have never learned how to install mods, so I think I will finally cave and do that. So that leaves 2 questions:
1) What is a really good character model mod to use?
2) Can anyone explain or link a tutorial on how to install mods?

Well, this mod is probably going to be about as good as you are going to get, imo. Oblivion’s face editor is just so awful. It’s been a really long time since Khajiit bothered to play Oblivion so he’s perhaps not the best one to give you modding instructions. Sorry. sad.gif

And that mod is a little finicky and sometimes doesn't like to load properly. Just like every other major overhaul.

That said, it's allowed me to make some fabulous looking characters.

Doesn't have my UI overhaul though. I added that after. My Oblivion install is quite heavily modded. >< Not as bad as my Skyrim install though lol.

The more I play The Elder Scrolls Blades the more I like it. I've already started working on the walls to my town, I'll start with the Timber then go up from there. I will put in another smithy to act as a backup repair shop but the other places are getting upgraded so for now its just filling out the empty spaces with houses and other decor. The only other issues that need attention is the game failing to boot up and stability issues other then that its a nice little Elder Scrolls on the go but it might not be for everyone.

So Khajiit bought Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition on Steam. Last night we did the tutorial to refresh ourselves with the gameplay. Today we started a character. Got out of Candlekeep and wandered the woods. Got into some fights with Gibberlings. Got killed a bunch by a wolf. Went to the Friendly Arms Inn and got killed by a mage. Yeah. It’s not going very well.

Yeah that mage fight at the Friendly Arms Inn is a crapshoot, you'll either get lucky and win or reload a save state.

But it shouldn’t be up to luck. There’s gotta be something Khajiit is missing that would make fights go better. Maybe we’ll try sneaking in...

One of the suggestions is to set up a backstab since theyve got little hp.

It kinda is luck based since Baldur's Gate uses D&D dice roll rules and survival depends how well your save vs magic roll is. kvleft.gif

Well, I went back to the save right after getting Imoen (“Heya it’s me Imoen!”) to join me and followed the road east and north and ran into a necromancer and a fighter/thief. Between those and the two guards near where the mage accosts you, we were able to kill the mage no sweat several times in a row. I also turned on auto pause, which is helping tremendously!

According to Wikipedia Blades might hit the PC and consoles.

"The Elder Scrolls: Blades is being developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was announced by Todd Howard during Bethesda's showcase at E3 2018 and was playable on the showfloor at the expo. Blades was released for Android and iOS devices as a free-to-play game on March 27 2019. Howard anticipated that Blades would be released on consoles and PCs in the future, along with supporting virtual reality.."
