My home state is about to go on lockdown tomorrow. I've ordered pet food and cat litter from the pet store, and I am ordering alcohol from the local Binny's all to be delivered. We're good on TP, but are down to one egg. Should I hatch that egg and try to get the little chick to lay more eggs for us?

Yep we are also on lockdown. I had to run to the store to get some cat litter (which of course resulted in me spending $120 because I saw other useful things) and the ladies in front of me in line had no idea about that being a thing.

Late last night, my friend who works at a poke restaurant brought me a literal tub of Thai tea.

And so even though we're on lockdown, we're still allowed to go to the store and all that. I needed some turtle filters and I passed by the local skate park.

I figure most of the rest of folks around here are huddling in their toilet paper fortresses, clutching their guns and guzzling Diet Coke....

I was one of those people "too essential" to work from home until last night. When my boss called me and told me not to come in. I still work, just from home now. The rest of my company has been doing that since last Friday. I think it is because someone tested positive at the site. But of course they are not going to tell us that. I know one of our assembly plants was shut down today because someone working there tested positive. I honestly learn more from watching the news and just looking around with my own eyes than I ever do from my company itself.

It is like two years ago when we got hit with a serious virus (the computer kind). Our data centers have good enough security that we kept it out. But our plants do not. That would cost money after all. So they were hit hard. I think it was ransomware, and I think the company paid. They refuse to acknowledge anything ever happened.

I consider myself fortunate that I work for a company that ACTUALLY CARES. The very same day our CEO sent out a letter to that effect, I was told to stay home and collect leave of extreme conditions pay for the two days the store stayed open on limited support (order pickup and tech support only). Now the company is paying me for scheduled time even though I’m at home. My manager told me after the store reopens, if I still didn’t feel safe with my health issues, I could continue collecting extreme conditions pay. She would approve it all.

I know that’s not the norm, and I am very lucky to have this job with this company.

I got an email a bit ago saying I'm supposed to be going back to work on the 30th because education is deemed essential. But there will be no students. So I'll be a tutor, with no one to tutor. And this school is a low income demographic and the kids do not all have their own chromebooks anymore, so it's not guaranteeds to be online help. I guess I'll find out what exactly I'll be doing then 🤷🏽‍♀️

Aw, that school needs donations for those children that don't have laptops so they don't get behind their class on their school work.

They had them last year but middle schoolers + hormones + curiosity + internet was causing too many issues, so they decided not to send the laptops home with the kids this year. I'm wondering if part of my job for April will be getting the laptops to the kids because now they aren't coming back until May 5th.

I'm wondering if part of my job for April will be getting the laptops to the kids because now they aren't coming back until May 5th.

Yeah, they have to have some way to keep the kids on schedule for their graduations. There have been several schools running their classes online since this happened and they realized it was going to be an extended shut down; but there has to be a program in place for children that don't have access to the internet, too.
