While I firmly believe that passion should drive you in what you chose to write, I'd hazard a guess that there's more of a ready-made TES fanbase here on this TES forum than for any other genre? Just my two septims.

I'll suggest a compromise: Stay with TES, because you're here, but write a story set in the time the Dwemer were around, i.e. Elder Scrolls "Steampunk".
The raw power comes from Magic instead of Steam, but it's the same principle. Elaborate mechanisms rule, and there's a "historical" setting, relative to the writer's world. Narrate your story from the present day in Tamriel. -------------------- |
