First, the outcry over Creation Club is seriously overblown. At least at this point. There is definitely potential for this to be a terrible idea, but everyone needs to cool their jets for the moment.

I feel it's justified, given that its files are shoved onto your HDD whethere you bought them or not. That's a complete disregard to people that have limited HDD space, or bandwith restrictions from their ISP.

Okay, that's a fair point. I do remember seeing that now, but I believe Pete Hines said they will be addressing that in a patch (of course, it actually has to happen first). That is a totally justifiable complaint.

I just mean the whole "paid mods" aspect itself, which I see complained about it almost every single time as opposed to the drive space. If it gets inundated with Horse Armor 2.0 and other absurdities that shouldn't have to be paid for, I would change my tune. But it gives good modders the opportunity to get a nice chunk of change for what they do. I often see people want these modders to get paid for their work, but now that it is coming a lot of people seem to not want that to happen.

And Nexus is still going to be around, which a lot of people seem to worry will be gouged. Bethesda has shown in the past that it's capable of dumb decisions, but they would have to be incredibly stupid to actually do something to Nexus in favor of Creation Club. That would be a PR debacle that I don't think they could really pull themselves out of. Thus, I don't see anything happening to the tons of free mods out there already.

That's not an unpopular opinion. Khajiit hates political horse poop!

I thought going on Twitter and filtering out the political poop would be good. Nope I had to get into a political debate which THANKFULLY ended better then it does on Facebook. But still---it gets old.

This is one of the reasons I avoid social media like the plague.

But seriously, is there someway we can get all the world's politicians to go take a holiday or something? rollinglaugh.gif

My brother, who's visiting, just inadvertently reminded me of one of my unpopular opinions, or rather minority viewpoints. We were talking about the upcoming time change. He mentioned liking it because it allows him to get in an extra hour's sleep mornings, an oft expressed viewpoint.

I have never understood this.

All my adult like I have woken by internal rather than external clock, and my internal clock wakes me too bloody early. This morning, for instance, my internal clock allowed me to sleep off and on until 0319. At that point I knew further sleep was impossible, so read for an hour or so before crawling out of bed and shuffling to the computer room.

My internet clock pays no attention to external clocks. Therefore, had we already gone off Daylight Savings Time I've have woke for good at 0219, leaving me with even more dead time in which to twiddle my thumbs before 0500 breakfast. What's more, I'd need to fight off sleep an hour sooner during evenings, not that it helps much to do so.

Therefore, I much prefer the spring/summer switch to Daylight Saving Times. I sleep pretty much exactly the same hours I always do, but they align a bit more closely, if not close enough, to external clocks.

I'd be happy if the entire world used UTC and abandoned local time zones completely. I don't have a 9 to 5 job, but the labels on the start and end times could be anything as long as the hours stay the same length. The current system hasn't phased out the sundial properly.

No, you only get an extra hour of sleep on one day, and that's the morning the time rolls back in the fall (for Khajiit this actually means an extra hour of game time before going to bed at 2am, lol). Otherwise, every other day you are going to bed at the same time you usually do and waking up the same time you usually do. There is no "extra time". Daylight savings time is pointless. All it does is make it dark earlier at 5pm. Winter already makes our days get darker earlier being tilted away from the sun, so why'd they have to go and make it worse? Daylight savings indeed. Pfft.

I, too, find Daylight Savings to be incredibly dumb and pointless. And that one day where you get an extra hour of sleep is negated by the day where you lose an hour anyways! There is no need to have it anymore. Arizona and I think one other state doesn't have it. Would be nice if other states followed suit.

Let me throw out another related thought. Instead of changing the clocks, do you think it would be better to work longer hours during the summer, and fewer hours in the winter? In northern latitudes that could be quite a difference, (e.g. UK gets about a 10 hour swing, Arctic circle 24 hours) but the continental USA doesn't have so much of a day-length variation.

I'm trying to remember where I read about it, but the Romans used sundials to divide up the day, so hours were a bit longer in summer than they were in winter. It wasn't until they started conquering lands significantly further north that they did things differently. And they must have had another means to measure time, as they reported pretty accurate day lengths from Scotland.

I'll have to spend some time Googling.

Anywhoo. I gotta say something that PC builders in the US might not like... I think Fractal Design cases, especially new Define series cases, are way better (both in terms of looks and function) than NZXT, CoolerMaster and Phanteks cases, with Phanteks being a close 2nd but only due to atrocious pricing.

Because when a person* goes 160km, into another country, to get this thing because no one - literally NO ONE - sells it back home where they are, and then carries it three miles straight to the train station in august heat, that might tell you something about how good the case is.

Computer cases are another of those highly subjective personal areas. When I built my current primary PC several months back I went Phanteks, not so much before it was an ultimate favorite, but because it best fit my essential criteria while remaining within my allotted case budget at time of purchase. I was tempted to do the build in my old Cooler Master HAF 932 and move the parts in what is now my secondary PC to the Phantecs, but the Cooler Master is a bit out too out of date for that. Still, to this day I miss those casters on its bottom, which makes dragging it out of its cubbyhole for maintenance SO much easier for an old fart like me.

As to minority PC-case opinions, two come readily to mind:
1) For me, the bigger the better, up to a point. No Mini, Micro, or small Mid-Towel for me. It's large mid-tower or Full Tower all the way!
2) Any case I consider purchasing must have a front-panel optical drive bay, with hopefully another additional bay or two of that size. This alone caused me to rule out a number of cases I otherwise liked very very much when I built my new PC.

Khajiit is very satisfied with his Cooler Master HAF 912. Roomy, easy to work with.

Breton would need a new room for HAF. Or he'd have to tear down one wall on his old room, to accommodate it.

It is rather large. It takes up a bunch of room under Khajiit's desk but it's not so bad.
