Chorrol.com _ Older Games _ Lore and Beginnings of the TES Series

Posted by: mALX Oct 5 2015, 10:15 PM

I don't know if anyone has posted these or not, but here are two vids I just came across that are amazing coverage of the beginnings of the Elder Scrolls series and in depth discussion on Lore.

** For anyone who doesn't have the early games, he has a link to the fully patched game including the DOS Box and a lot of extra content that didn't make it to the free game Bethesda provided.

In the Memo below the vid you will also find a link to the official Game Playthrough Guides for anyone who wants or needs them; and they have an amazingly detailed description of the Classes and Races.

Daggerfall:

* Note: At 1:11.40; you will have a second advertisement. Skip through it to hear an amazing coverage of the Lore relating to the Warp in the West/Dragon Break/Talos/The Underking/etc - Amazing job this guy did on it!

I didn't see the link for the Daggerfall one, but I'll keep looking.

Not much into the lore, tbh. I mean I am to some extent but man, I have visited TES lore section of the official forums a few times and never gotten out of there without broken bones.

I do like many of the fiction books withing the games though.

I have read most of them too, and do have some favorites = "The Real Barenziah" set is one of my all time favorites, but there are others.

mALX, thank you for posting this! I cannot get too much lore, and videos will be great when I can’t read. Awesome! smile.gif

This guy explains it in such a clear concise way too, the best representation of the Lore I've found yet. I don't even know what I was looking for when I came across this!

Thanks for posting these. I've found a few videos over time which are educational / entertaining, so I can add these later on, if I find them again. I love how the lore for Arena is sort of 'backwards". Like, when the one guy in charge of certain early development (I don't recall his name) decided to call the first game "Elder Scrolls", he had no idea why he called it this, apparently. The Elder Scrolls have nothing to do with the first game's Main Quest at all, not that I've seen, anyways.

WHOA we can jump forward in Arena? ohmy.gif I had no idea. No wonder my poor gal always falls into pits.

Thanks for the links. I had watched the Daggerfall link not too long before your post appeared. It's one of the best intros to game mechanics I know of. I don't always follow his advice, not because there is anything wrong with it, but rather because we don't always share the same goals and philosophies.
