I am very pleased to announce that I have updated the Call Steed mod to version 1.5. Here's the lowdown:
In my first mod, there was one ring that, when equipped, would cause any purchased horses to start running to you from wherever they were located. In 1.5 I have created a ring for each of the bought horses, the quest horses (Shadowmere and Maborel's Horse), and even the unicorn. This way, you won't summon every horse you own; you can individually call each horse. Not only that, but I have scripted the rings so that now the horse is directly ported near the player and then it enters follow mode! (Thanks for the idea, GreatGreen!) So you donít have to worry about your horse getting attacked on its way to you. There are also sound effects that you'll hear when you equip the rings, like your horse neighing as it materializes and starts running to you.
As before, you equip the ring to summon and unequip it to make the horse stop following. (There is no more waiting for the horse to start following you once you equip the ring, but you do have to still wait 8-10 seconds after unequiping it for the horse to stop following you.)
PLEASE NOTE: The rings are now located in the Bruma Wildeye Stable shack on top of a dresser that is to your right when you enter the room. The rings are laid out atop a purple cloth on the dresser. You can take as many as you like, as they are free of charge and very lightweight.
This is the result of a lot of work and love, both for this awesome game and for you, my fellow gamers, so I hope you guys continue to support my mod and give me some feedback. I have playtested the mod, and it looks like smooth sailing, except for one issue that I need your help with:
I have not completed the quests for Shadowmere and the other quest horse, so I could not test the call rings on them. Some of our community members were specifically wondering about these quest horses, so I need folks who have completed the quests to let me know if the rings work with them. There is something fishy with the quest horses in terms of how you identify them in scripts, but I think I may have it right. At any rate, let me know if you can call them. For sure, though, any purchased horses and the unicorn will come. Actually, the first time I saw the unicorn was when I summoned it!
Finally, I will start compatibility testing with other horse mods sometime this weekend, so bear with me on that.
