QUOTE(Rane @ Jul 11 2005, 10:39 AM) The newest one should work as far as I know. Meaning DOSBox 0.63. DosBox, downloads.I assume you're using Windows, so it's the second one from the top, "Win32 installer". Darn! Rane beat me to it! Anyway, be sure to read the instructions on how to set up/use Arena. Trust me, the instructions have helped me increase the framerate, how to save, how to fight, etc. So, I suggest you read that. Good luck, guys! (Grrr, I'm still in the darn prison! Darn those rats and this whole-'my sword should be hurting the enemy, but it's not'-bug/glitch/whatever.! Can never tell if I'm hitting them or not untill the last second. *sigh* And I hate it whenever the goblins push me in the water, making me lose health and fetigue(sp?) till I die! )

QUOTE(Dantrag @ Jul 14 2005, 08:14 PM) don't feel bad mergirl.... I'm still in the prison too... But, but, but! ... I was so close to getting out of there! So close! There's these two goblins that are blocking my way-- literally! They keep pushing me into the water, making me die... It's like they are waiting for me to swim to them. They seem to stalk near the shore where I'm trying to swim to... Goblins have become... smart?

That starter dungeon is the hardest I have ever experienced I have never been able to get out of it yet on the no less than half a dozen times I have tried to start playing Arena now (at least, not without a trainer!). Now that I know at least where I'm meant to go to get out, I might try it again sometime soon. Tip: When getting out, make sure you have the text with the passwords ready (or, at least, be aware that you need one) - nothing worse than getting to the end, finding you have a password and then abandoning that game because you can't find the password

QUOTE(9of9 @ Jul 11 2005, 07:08 PM) I think you need to create savegame folders in your Arena root folder, something along the likes of SAVE0 SAVE1 etc. to correspond to your save slots. Oddly, looking back on my Arena folder, I no longer see my savegame folders, so that might be a Daggerfall fix... Try it anyway, should work. How'd you come up with that? There is a direct3d patch that can increase performance by up to 20% http://www.si-gamer.net/gulikoza/dosbox/dosboxcvs-060318.zipDownload, open, and put ALL the files into your DosBOX directory. (Usually C:\Program Files\DosBOX 0.63\) Go into Start\Programs\Dosbox 0.63\Dosbox.conf When you open it there will be a list of what different things say. On the list for output it should say.. "# output -- What to use for output: surface,overlay,opengl,openglnb,openglhq,ddraw,direct3d." Make sure it says Direct3d, if not, restart this walkthroughBelow that it should say.. "output=surface" Change that to.. "output=direct3d" This should improve your performance. Least it does with mine. ------- Also, setting your Frameskip to 1 increases performance by a good amount without making much a visual difference. Do this by pressing Ctrl+F8 This post has been edited by ThePerson98: Apr 7 2006, 01:49 AM
