Yes, I've heard about how Morrowind works. I'm okay with it; the game is still pretty new to me, after all.

31 Last Seed (Day 16) 7 p.m.: Galarad is in Caldera now, doing a quest in which he's supposed to find some Telvanni agents. Pretty sure he's found where they are hiding, in some cave. He went in there and tried to take them. Problem is, three out of the four are in the cave's first chamber. viking.gif viking.gif viking.gif Galarad does not sneak, and so all three of them noticed him walking into their cave.

But I cheated a little bit. Went on UESP, just to see how strong these guys are. Two of them are Level 3, one is Level 1 or 2. The boss is Level 5. Galarad is only 3 right now, so I'm not sure if he's ready. He's got a bunch of potions though + Blood of the North Lesser Power! ... He's going to give it another shot.

Edit: He's not ready! Plan was to go in there and fight all 3 at once, hoping to kill just one of them, leave, and then rest up. Even this was not possible though! Yikes.

One of the things about his game is because he seems to epic, I decided to turn the music on for Galarad's game. I never have music on. But it fits his game because he's so righteous.

Wow, I cannot imagine playing an Elder Scrolls game without Jeremy Soule's music in my ears...

I gotta admit, it does add something which makes his game feel unique. I think I'm going to start having music on in other ES games too. But only for characters who do the "epic" stuff, like mostly Main Quest.

15 Heartfire (Day 31) 8 a.m.: Why is it that I always get lost after leaving Ald'ruhn? panic.gif Every time one of my characters leaves this village (walking), I wind up getting lost! Anyway, on this date, Galarad was walking generally south, lost of course, and needed a place to rest after getting attacked by at least a half-dozen cliffies.

So he found this mine okay? Turns out the miners in there are friendly. Perfect.

He tries to sleep so he can heal up, and this is the moment Morrowind's Dark Brotherhood Assassin tried to attack him. Bad idea! This guy usually shows up Level 6. In the past when he's tried to assassinate one of mine, this always has happened at some awkward moment, when my character is not dressed for battle. Not a problem for Galarad, who's already wearing steel and iron. viking.gif

If Galarad feels lofty, he can try his luck in Solstheim viking.gif

So young and already wanted by the Dark Brotherhood? wink.gif

IIRC, the equipment on the DB assassin can be sold for lots of septims. Even Haryon, who was a modest man, took advantage of this and bought some powerful healing potions and other useful scrolls.

NO!!! He is not going to Solstheim yet. Isn't that place for higher-leveled people?

Yes, he did manage to loot the assassin's gloves and hood, I think, and sold those. Really, he shouldn't have, as a Lawful Good character, he shouldn't have gone this far. *tsk tsk* But he really needs the money. Money is harder to come by in this game, early on, if the PC Isn't going into dungeons often.

When Igodah met the assassin, I remember this happened in Pelagiad. It was very easy for her to loot the guy's entire outfit. bluewizardsmile.gif Ka-ching!

-------------

28 Heartfire (Day 44) 2 p.m. -- Galarad has been all over: from Balmora to Caldera to Vivec to Ald'ruhn to Gnisis to Seyda Neen, and so on. He's joined the Imperial Legion finally, and now walks around with an Imperial Steel cuirass. He is going all sorts of quests, and it's getting to the point that he does not always talk to people who seem like they'll be quest-givers. Because Morrowind's journal system is a mess! It's really hard to keep track of what's been done and what hasn't been done. wacko.gif So I've been taking my own notes. But it helps to not have the journal get clogged with more quests in the first place.

Today he is in Fort Moonmoth, where he's just made a very weak Shield spell. This spell lasts 1 second and only provides one point of protection. He's going to spam this spell over and over, to help raise his Alteration slowly (which will help him cast Alteration spells with higher success).

He just found a really GOOD magic item though: an Amulet of Divine Intervention, holy [CENSORED]! That'll come in handy when he's about to get pwned. I can't wait to use this piece.

Those amulets are also quite handy if your character has a tendency to pick up everything that isn't nailed down or doesn't move fast enough. (Especially books *cough* Trey *cough*). Port to the shrine- drop the excess- sell some, go back to the pile and do it again.

Anyway- yes, Solstheim is quite deadly. It was apparently Bethsoft's response to the "too EASY" crowd- "so besides making all the wildlife homicidal, we will add lots of in and throw it some that hit really hard and seem impervious to damage"- cf. rieklings. "Oh and also- not many places to get potions or ingredients that are of much use."

Happy Morrowinding!

Happy Morrowinding!

Hey thanks! I enjoy MW quite a lot.

25 Frost Fall (Day 72) 9 a.m. Sir Galrad begins his day by leaving Fort Moonmoth. He thinks of taking a silt strider toward his next destination, but nobody will take him directly to Gnaar Mak. So he walks. He walks one of the same walks he's taken many times: from the Balmora area to Pelagiad. Then to Seyda Neen. Then to the north. That's where the Bitter Coast lies, and that's where Gnaar Mak therefore must be.

But besides that, walking gives him the opportunity to patrol the roads. viking.gif Keep them safe. Keep them from rabblery and nuisances. Before the Decrepit Avatar, there was Sir Galarad. viking.gif

And I still do, but ... what's other peoples' opinions on the questlines in this game?? blink.gif

I've been gaming with Sir Galarad pretty much all summer. No matter which faction he gets involved with, eventually there'll be a quest which is so dang hard to accomplish! Fighters Guild, Imperial Cult, Imperial Legion.... it doesn't matter. He is Level 22 I think, and he's trained a lot of skills pretty high by now. Long Blade is 100, Restoration is up over 90, Heavy Armor and Block are in the 60s and 70s, Magic Resistance is higher than his default Breton 50%, and so on.

None of this matters. Eventually it's like I have to *stop* a questline in its tracks, until I train the guy somehow to become a superhero, or something. viking.gif Oblivion and Skyrim can be hard too in their own ways, but not to the point where the game simply cannot be continued. laugh.gif

I had the same issues with Igodah's game last summer / fall, until I discovered some Alchemy / Spellmaking exploits which have made her into a virtual little god.

Difficulty is on default in any of my games (MW, OB, or Sk). I hate touching it. Feels like cheating to me. But other than that, what are other opinions here? What did y'all have to do, to continue questing in this game?

You do need to level up to handle a lot of areas and quests in Morrowind. Otherwise you just die.

I only did about half the Fighters Guild quest, and all of the main quest. I did not like the main quest. About 2/3rds in you have to gain the favor of each House and Tribe, and it just got incredibly repetitive and boring. I just could not stand it anymore, so I used the console to push it along and make it so I completed all of that.

Other than that I enjoyed killing Vivec. More than killing Dagoth Ur in fact.

Cool thanks. It's not so much that he's dying (at least not right away) It's more like he faces enemy after enemy which take a lot of resources to take down. Golden Saints. atronachs, etc. If there just one of these , no problem. But sometimes there are several. He can fight them, but each fight takes a significant amount of armor / weapon health away. mad.gif If he needs to heal, that gets complicated because finding a place to rest and recharge magicka...

Well you know how it is.

We got rather lucky yesterday though. The area which Galarad was in was previously packed with Golden Saints and other baddies like I mentioned. He went all the way back to civilization and made a new spell which will guarantee he'll live through one of those longer-lasting fights when multiple enemies show up (5 points of health each second for 45 seconds, something like that). But then of course, now that he's got this spell, the dangerous area was now only packed with the usual cliff racers and other below-average nuisances!

I use a mod that makes magicka recharge normally over time, like it does in Oblivion and Skyrim. I think the way magicka only regenerates when you rest like in Morrowind is one of the less than stellar aspects of the game.

Were you up in the very northern section of the map - Sheogorad? It is a bunch of islands off the northern coast? The Azura shrine quest takes you up there, because a follower of hers is in a hut on one of the islands meditating. Another Daedric Lord sent a bunch of Daedra out to harass her to prevent her from meditating. So Azura sends you to intercede and stop them. You might have walked into that without staring the quest.

No we are at (I am going to spell this wrong) Ebaransham Camp. North of Molag Mar, dealing with an official quest given by ... I forget if it's the Imperial Legion or Fighters Guild. One of those two. I'm not at home right now.

Erabenimsun camp is close to Tusened (Daedric ruin) but you have to take a wrong turn to get to the latter. Each is at the end of a blind valley, one of many in the area.

Yes, "blind" is a good word for them. All it takes is one wrong turn! ... We have gone back and forth in this area so many times though I'm starting to learn it somewhat.

Does anyone here know if the containers in Addamasartus Cave are safe to store stuff in? I can’t remember if they respawn.

No they do not respawn so yes they are safe. One of my MW characters stores stuff in that cave (and a few other caves).

I believe that if a dungeon has generic, unnamed, respawning enemies, such as vampires, that might be a place which respawns its containers. But if it's got named NPCs, we've always been able to store stuff in those.

If you do the Tax Collector quest you wind up killing one of the residents of Seyda Neen. You can move into his house afterward. I think all the containers inside are safe. But you might want to look at it with the construction set to make sure.

The last time I really played Morrowind it was for completion, and I wasn’t really into role playing the character I ran. I gamed the hell out of it, prioritizing the factions and encounters that I knew would gain me something cool, without any regard for how my character would actually behave. The “Murder of Processus Vitellius” quest and Foryn Gilnith’s shack, are good examples of this. Currently, I’m playing an incarnation of my favorite witchy woman, Brenna, and so I’m trying to play the game doing what she might.

Brenna found Processus’s corpse in the wilderness and stripped it of all its possessions (including the 200 gold). Waste not, you know. There in the wilderness, she left the body for wildlife to thrive on. One sun sets and another rises. When she returned to Seyda Neen, she spoke not a word of her grisly discovery in the swamps to anyone, and sold what items she didn’t need to Arrille at his tradehouse. She and the Altmer were on friendly terms ever since that Bosmer, Fargoth, put in a good word for her after she returned a lost ring to him (he didn’t need to know that Brenna had stolen back that very same ring, and more, on a request from local Legion thug Hrisskar Flat-Foot). If Arrille remembered seeing the missing tax man in the clothes that Brenna sold to him, he didn’t mention it, and never would.

So, as you can see, she will miss out on claiming Foryn Gilnith’s shack for her own, as well as some useful items, but she just cleared out Addamasartus and so will dwell there... until fate presents her with a new opportunity.
