*note this post will spoil the Leweyin (sp?) mage guild quest*
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Aight ive gotten to the tombs to get the old hags amulet and BAM im dying from something... then i find its this wisp thing that doesnt want to take a hit from my sword so i use flash bolt which effects it but very mildly.
I send it on a wild goose chase around the chamber then i get the amulet and make a run when BAM the knight who stole the hags amulet comes and challenges me... i continue to run because the wisp f***ed me up and eventually get back to the mages guild but uh oh she wants to believe that the amulet im carrying doesnt exist until ive officially "completed" the quest (im assuming) by killing the knight and thus I will also have to face the little wisp when i go back to the fort...

which brings me to my question, how do I kill the Wisp?????????????

silver, daedric, or enchanted weapons. i find a 'hit and run' strategy works best. rush up to it, hit it a few times really fast, then run away. it takes a couple second for it to cast it's drain spell. wait for it to materialize again (though you can hit it when it is pretty much invisible), and attack again.

rinse, repeat.

alternatively, if you have a lot of arrows to waste and a daedric, silver, or enchanted bow, a slow retreat works well. just keep moving backwards, preferibly in a circle pattern, and keep shooting until it dies. good damage on your bow is very important here.

I didn't kill the wisp. When it was in front of me, I just ran close to one of the 3 people there. They chased it as it chased me. I ran by the butterfly or moth chapel. When it became daylight, I went outside of the chapel and there on the ground was some gold dust. I took it to the statue and it worked.

I´ve never found them hard to kill. Annoying, as they mess around with the stats, but not hard to kill at all. I like to hit them with a fire spell rather than a weapon smile.gif

My knight Lason was killed by a wisp. He wouldn’t use any spells or enchanted weapons, and he met one before he found a silver sword.

But my Atronach battlemage would happily keep one as a pet. smile.gif

Wisps are death for melee focused characters.

The first time i came across one I went "How pretty!" and came closer... and died. I hadn't found a silver sword yet, and had no idea how to kill them, lol

Your first encounter with one makes the statement: Looks can be deceiving, true!

My first encounter with a wisp was when I passed by fort empire. I had no clue what was attacking me, and when I saw the wisp, I screamed and fled all the way back to the Talos plaza district, his I'm the sewers, and got killed by a vampire(I was beneath the bloodworks)

Then got killed by a vampire!

Now isn´t that annoying? biggrin.gif

If you could tame them, you could use them as lamp posts.

YES!!! Then I came across ANOTHER one later on and it disappeared, so I kept swinging every which way, hoping I'd hit it XD

The scariest thing about them is that when they start appearing, they're quite capable of killing the Legion patrol men. Who are 10 levels above the player and armed with a silver sword.
