An easy question: what game have you got in your console/PC/whatever at the moment? I've got Metal Gear Solid 4 in at the moment, and I'm enjoying it immensely. A bit cutscene heavy, but one of the things I like in games is the storyline, so I'm not too bothered.
Dusted off the good ol' PS2 some time ago in order to give it some attention. Currently I'm in the process of finishing up Yakuza and Yakuza 2 while taking my first few steps into FF XII.
The Yakuza games are actually quite entertaining and my only gripe with them is their somewhat clumsy combat when fighting multiple foes at once. The story, atmosphere and sidequests (which are sometimes nothing short of hilarious) are all really well done.
Can't and won't really say anything about FF XII yet. So far it's been what I'd expect from a jRPG and not much else.
I'm playing Guitar Hero III and a little Guitar Hero World Tour and I also play Halo 3 and Fallout 3, all of these games on the Xbox 360.
When my new computer arrives I'll start playing Oblivion again.
I've tried Fallout 3. It installs fine, starts fine but the moment I actually try to you know...start a new game, it crashes halfway through the loading. I guess my system is just a tad too old for current gen stuff.
That said, I've been playing Mechwarrior 4 recently. In fact, I just finished the campaign a couple of hours ago. Now I love robots but to be honest, the Mechwarrior franchise doesn't seem to be my thing. It's good enough to waste a few hours on when you're bored and really need your GIANT ROBOTS!!! fix, but I just can't help but feel somewhat disapointed every time. The mecha are just too damn clunky and act more like a mobile fortress with a serious lack of firepower, than a hotshot state-of-the-art superweapon of the 31st century.
Every time I circlestrafe something for two fricking minutes, I can't help but wish I could use an Armored Core. It would make things so much more enjoyable, not to mention less painfull.
But you can't play Armored Core on a pc and I don't have a console anymore so...damn.
GTA IV on the PC. Fun, but suffers from sloppy programming and is rather messy. The latest patch is actually causing me more problems
I've been playing a lot of Left 4 Dead on my trusty PC. As well as some Lord of the Rings Online, naturally.
Fallout 3 now and then though I spend very little time playing games, I don't find them very satisfying, though, barring Morrowind, Fallout 3 maybe one of the best single player games I've played.
On my 360 I have Guitar Hero World Tour in. My brother and I finally beat it a couple nights ago. In my PC I have Morrowind as usual.
Playing Call of Duty World at War on the 360 now, its great on xbox live, I haven't had a chance to play the campaign through yet though.
Seriously Kiln, complete it. When you finish it you unlock the best mode ever.
And the last levels are pretty damn awesome too.
Due to my PC being Foxtrot Unicorn Charlie Kilo I am forced to play old[er] games.
ATM, it's Silent Hill 2 and I am hating every minute of it. I get the feeling 'survival horror' is all about surviving god-awful camera angles and fecal controls, while trying not to mentally beat up game developers who implemented invulnerable bosses in their games.*
*for the record, this is not pure SH hatred; Resident Evil 3: Nemesis also frustrated me to no end because you couldn't do a damn thing to that thing until very end
I've got a week of vacationing and decided to try something entirely different for a change; Fable2.
I'd heard a lot about it and was curious to see if it was good or not. After having played it for around 2 days now, I have to say it's pretty fun.
Granted I could point out a lot of flaws, like the linear nature of the game, the lack of options to customize your character, the relative simplicity of the quests, puzzles and enemies you face etc. But on the other hand it's surprisingly fun despite all that. It has a good working economy, beautiful surroundings and it's even found a way to make it semi fun to have a family, or at the very least not too much of a burden.
So yeah, so far it's been fun , all except for the fact that the xbox360 just now froze up
Yeah Fable 2 isn't too bad, I just wish I'd gotten it used.
I can't argue with that. Mechwarrior 3 felt a lot better than 4, although I do prefer 4's torso-twist that can be controlled by the mouse. But 3 has a better story in my opinion. (although the sudden change from antarctic ice to a fricking volcano near the end is kinda odd.) And it was so much fun to load up the biggest mech you could get with a huge load of ER large lasers and just pop everyone's legs in a furious barrage of coherent light. And then you had to wait for your mech to cool before you could do it all over again.
As for Armored Core, a lack of modern consoles means I've only played the very first generation. Now unlike what the vids for Armored Core 4 showed, the first generation features slower mechs with less guns, a much smaller targeting reticule, a very limited energy supply and far more indoors, up close and personal action.
This means that dodging is much harder and if you use energy weapons (like I do) you need to carefully ration the amount of shooting and boosting you do because you DON'T want to be stuck walking around on the floor for 30+ seconds, unable to shoot/boost, waiting for your generator to refill the energy bar. For some reason, once emptied completely, it won't let you use any energy untill it has completely refilled. So if that happens, you are going to get hurt. A lot. But that's why I like it.
Oh, and what's this old Gundam game you're talking about? I love Gundam and only the fact that it's stupidly expensive to import stuff from Japan has kept me from collecting things related to it.
(By the way, radar and the like are said to be scrambled by the Minovsky particles that are thrown out by every single military vehicle, at least in Amuro's universe. So the argument is that they can't use tracking weapons. But, that admittedly shouldn't rule out heat seekers or image recognition.)
I finally got Fallout 3! I love the game, even if I can't play it alone or I'll be terrified out of my mind. Now that I think about it, either way it's the same.
My brother and I decided to split up misc quests and the mian quests. I get to do the main quest and he does all the misc quests he can find. I have an easier job finding where I have to go at least. It's still easier for him which kinda sucks but I'm okay with that.
I'm on the final chapter of Dead Space now. I've really enjoyed this game. Its like a cross between Resident Evil 4, The Thing and Event Horizon. It plays a similar way to Resi 4 (control wise at least save the zero G environments) so I found it quite easy to get into. And I like gory sci fi horror so I've really enjoyed the setting. It's not the best game ever, but its worth playing.
I also have Civilisation 4 ordered which I'm looking forward to. I tried the demo the other day and thought it was great. Used to play 2 some years back with my brother and we had a lot of fun, even if every game did just descend into us wiping out computer players and then launching nuclear missiles at each other.
I've got Call of Duty: World at War on right now, trying out the new map pack.
People say it's worse than CoD:MW but tbh, I really don't think it is. The campaign is amazing, and nazi zombies is perfect for when you start sucking online and think ah bugar it I'll just go blow up some zombies for quarter of an hour.
I've also started playing Heavenly Sword, which is also good, but they've focused more on the cutscenes than on the actual gameplay. One thing that's absolutely incredible is the six axis arrow control with Kai. If they did a game with just her in I'd happily buy three of 'em.
What kinda' ruins it is they use english voices for all the characters, with very heavy manchester, birmingham and liverpool accents. Chinese game, use chinese voices. Everyone knows that.
Ok ramble over.
Computer chess. I'd forgotten how much I like playing (and how much I dislike windows 'Chess Titans', the engine they use isn't very good for having interesting matches and doesn't deal well with some things). Anyway Arena is free and give you a choice of engines and a choice of difficulties which is mindboggling so I'm playing against it just now.
I really like WaW too, what's your gamertag? I'm Wanderer101, simpler than most of my friends' tags. I got Fallout 3, but I've begun to have a falling out with it..... But I have gotten very into Left 4 Dead (zombie apocalypse game). I've given teaching my Dad to play games another whirl, it helps that L4D is splitscreen and xbox live cooperative.
Play??? gah it's been weeks since I had time to play, sometimes RL is overwhelming.
Been borrowing Rock Band from a friend. It's pretty awesome. I'm also playing GTA IV on PC. The video editor in GTA PC version is fantastic!
Various Call of Duty games [blazed trough 4 & 5 on Regular, tried 5 on hardcore, promptly quit that] and Fallout: Tactics.
Since I bought a whole LEGAL Fallout collection on DVD recently for about 4$ I am playing FO:T. Now, this is interesting concept, leading & molding own par... eh, squad, instead of a bunch of NPC's who can only be controlled so much, but there is one thing that makes my blood boil.
Random ecounters. Jesus F. Christ. Every 50 miliseconds a random ecounter. I have 80 in Outdoorsman and am beginning to wonder why the hell did they even implement it if gameplay is going to be so hamster cave choppy all the time. If someone, anyone, knows a way to lower the rate of them, please help.
Just got GTA IV of PS3. So far, I've found it to be a perfectly cut 24 carat diamond of a game.
Hey cousin! Listen! It is your cousin! Lets go see a show!
I'm playing Civilization IV. Quite enjoyable, I just wish I had a bit more free time to play it.
And it has loads of what I love most in the GTA games, withering cynicism. I just love listening to the radio.
Right now I play The lord of the rings: Conquest.
I also play Dawn of war: Dark crusade and Dawn of war 2
I got GH World Tour yesterday, I've been playing it so much I'm finding it hard to type...
And I dug out Bishi Bashi Special. And excellent example of why everybody in the Japanese gaming industry is utterly insane.
Pie throwing at a wedding? Shooting cans of fizzy drinks up into orbit? That's not the Japan I know. That's just plain weird.
That said, they do make some good stuff. (when they're not high on drugs)
Like Gundam (though Tomino should learn not to kill'em all)
Armored Core
Super Robot Taisen...Ok, so the good stuff tends to be for geeks with a rather narrow field of interest. I mean, I just listed the robots, but I could also list magical girls if I had more than a passing interest in them. I like the ones in this game I'm going to worship now, but that's more because of the irony. They're uber cute...and liberally toss around more firepower than your average army.
Err right, the most japanese game that I have played (and still play, from time to time) would have to be Disgaea for the DS. At first glance, it's just another turn-based tactical rpg in the vein of Final Fantasy tactics. But the setting, oh boy the setting!
The story can be described as: Join the pure evil (He's perfected the laugh of the Overlord, so he's damn evil) ruler of hell on his whacky adventures, doing acts of despicable evil, battling mid-bosses called mid-boss, while accompanied by, in no particular order...A devil girl with a severe backstabbing disorder which she does not even attempt to hide at all! (It's ok, a real demon is ambitious.)
The angel-in-training/assassin sent from the heavens who would rather preach all day about flowers, love and kindness! Also, love is the most powerfull weapon of mass destruction in the multiverse.(Note: friendship does not work that way!)
A Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon/Captain Kirk parody who really is the dumbest bag of testosterone ever!(Never loses his shirt, thank god)
Robbie the robot from Forbidden Planet! (ok, he's got a new name but dangit, it's him)
Penguins that explode when thrown! Also slave-labour (Dood, this is not what I had in mind when they said I could reincarnate in order to redeem my sins.)
And a hundred lolis with more firepower than the US nuclear arsenal. (Be glad no one is interested in conquering the garbage dump called earth. I mean, these lolis were created in a single week by a bored overlord and are themselves less than a week old. Give them a year, and they'll become more powerfull than the Death Star...individually)
The average gameplay turn is something along the lines of:
1: Giggling death loli summons a multiple miles high golem that shoots lightning from its fingertips. Or if she's nearly out of magic and running on empty fumes, holy deathlasers from outer space. Buh-bye! (I thought magical girls were supposed to be sugarly sweet and friendly? What's with the mass-genocide?!)
2: Overlord summons a meteor and rides it to the ground...while laughing. HAAHAHAHA (There go the dinosaurs, again.)
3: Various other lolis that are neither as giggling nor as deathdealing as the first one go to town with swords that can cause tornadoes, axes that make the ground explode into a crater, guns that can fire rapidly enough to keep their user airborne and bows...nah, scratch the bows. They suck.
4: Werecat (more like catgirl) does her best Fist of the North star impression. Attattattatatata and all that. In other words, rapid-fire punching.
5: Prinnie (penguin) breathes a sigh of relief as it finds out that everyone had been too busy killing stuff to notice that they had a walking grenade on their side just begging to be used. Dood.
End turn.
So yeah, it's final fantasy tactics, dressed up in a parody of japanese otaku culture and with even the most basic techniques/spells tuned up to eleven when it comes down to visuals. That miles-high golem? It's not even the most powerful spell in its category. And I love it for that whackiness.
Oh, and before I forget to mention...Nippon ichi (the makers of Disgaea) love their grinding. Maximum level? 9999. Level of the final boss? Somewhere around 110/120. Level of the first bonus boss? 2000. And unlike some examples, you can recruit her after kicking the crap out of her and she loses none of her strength when on your side. Then there are more bonus bosses after her...Who also join upon defeat. More powerful ones to.
That final boss is so screwed.
Man I need to get back to playing. The manual had a picture of a Super Sentai (power ranger) used on the player's side. I want to unlock that class.
That sounds even madder than Bishi Bashi Special.
That's quite something...
As of recently, I have been playing The Sims 2 and Oblivion.
Mostly Rock Band 2, Halo 3 and GTA IV lately.
Just modified my PC last week to be able to play Fallout 3. Quite enjoyable. Especially being able to do so on a machine that is seven years old, with very few problems. Adding on a gigabyte of memory will do that. I need to see how Oblivion runs now...
My brother recently (re)addicted me to World of Warcraft, but I still play Fallout 3 or Oblivion everyday on my 360.
Currently I'm playing nothing, as my consoles are on the other side of the Irish Sea, but before I left, and once I get home, I was and will be playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I loves me a good JRPG
And it is definitely a good one. In my opinion, anyway.
I'm playing an MMO"RPG":
http://www.playrequiem.com/default.aspx
Well, i'm not really playing anything at the moment, my Xbox 360 has been shipped off to Microsoft for the Red Ring Of Death error, but i've been revisiting Final Fantasy 12 on my PS2. Always fun, especially when all the characters are beastly level 88's.
Pah, 12's nothing compared to 7!
I officially fell in love with PSN when they made that game available to download.
I've been playing a lot of World of Warcraft, but lately that's started to bore me, so I'm back to Morrowind.
I've gotten back to Fallout 3. I got really sick of it but now 6 months later i started it up again and I love it.
Gothic 3 is proving to be one of the most exciting RPG experiences since MW and Witcher. Also, I was wrong Starge, it is also beautiful graphically. It was just my ATI Radeon that was showing some colors funky at first.
I don't have any of those fancy gaming consoles everyone else seems to have, just my trusty Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo 64
But I play most of my games on my PC, which currently consists of Oblivion, Dragon Age Origins, and Medieval Two Total War (Stainless Steel 6.1). And I'll probably drop everything and play Assassin's Creed 2 in May, as I can't play it right now
I've been rediscovering my inner child and playing Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction recently. I love the joyously dark humour of those games.
Borderlands is damn addictive. 'm on the second playtrough with my sniper character and it is haaaard, but i'll manage. It's just bad that I can't properly patch the game (for some reason), so some friends can't see me on the net, for co-op.
Boerderlands looks very fun. Like a mix between Fallout and Crackdown. Im Playing alot of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Assassins creed 2 now.
Still plodding along with Fallout 3. Been playing a swordsman of late--a swordsman who's fond of mines. Just had some fun taking out the slavers at the Lincoln Memorial by sneaking around and laying out a minefield in front of some fallen pillars, taking a couple of potshots with an assault rifle (just enough to get them to pursue), and then finally retreating behind the pillars (and the minefield). Lots of BOOM! followed. Took out 5 slavers that way--cleaned up the rest with the sword. That was fun.
Also still playing the odd game of Oblivion, if only so I can get charged up to resume my writing.
I bought the first Assassin's Creed about two weeks ago with the intention of playing it through then getting the second but have given up halfway. That game has the worst controls I've ever struggled with. I know exactly what I want to do, but rather than playing the game I'm fighting with the camera and controls to do another repetative quest with an utterly forced flow. So I gave up. Has anyone tried the new one? Is it any better?
Otherwise I play the odd game of Fallout 3 but tend to struggle not to play the same character as last time - I just like Small Guns, Explosives and Sneak too much.
Playing Call of Duty, Borderlands and Gears of War 2.
I'm finally getting around to Bioshock. xD All the surprises were ruined, but 'tis still a fun game. Borderlands was fun but it got really repetitive IMO. *shrug*
I started getting into dragon age:origins for a while, but I just got bored of it.. a bit too D&D for me I suppose I recntly re-installed my morrowind and I'm in the process of modding the hell out of it, which counts as playing?
I dunno...
I dont suppose anyone here still plays solitare on their computer do they?
I've been playing Dragon Age: Origins, but just got bored with it (again!). I'll probably go back to Morrowind for a bit.
Been playing a bunch 'o games here.
Gears of War - My Bro has had it for the last 3-4 years and just picked it up and lovin it.
Dragon Age: Origins - Better then my expectations, because my expectations were pretty low. It will never be the new morrowind, Bioware just cant make a decent sandbox. Sten however, totally kicks @$$.
Assassins' Creed 2 - Wow! This completely outdid the original! There is still some standard side-quests but at least they are varied and interesting unlike the same thing over and over with the First. Plus now you can taunt when you fight.
Velvet Assassin - Nothing to see here folks, just keep on walking. Yeah, pretty bad, which sucks cuz with just a little more development this could have been a pretty good title. Alas....
Wet - While I expect any Bethseda title other then TES to suck in general, this game kicks some serious @$$! If you like Quentin Tarantino films, al la Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, you simply must play this title.
More reviews to come.
Hey Blackie, do you by any chance have Xbox live?
nwn2 mp
Like everyone else, Dragon Age. Just waiting for Awakenings now.
I also quite enjoy Demon's Souls. Getting brutally slaughtered by all manner of vile beasties really makes for a good time.
Oblivion.
I tend to get absurdly deep into a game and stay there for years. So it was with Diablo II, then the Baldur's Gate saga. By the time I was ready to move to TES, Oblivion was current, so that is exclusively where I have lived for the last almost three years.
I would imagine that after the patchers and modders have had a year or two to work with TES5, I might transition my character there. If TES5 turns out not to our liking, I may move her to a modded version of TESIII.
I am the same way. Before I found Oblivion last fall, I spent about two and half years playing and modding Rome Total War to the complete exclusion of any other game else. Now OB is the only thing I ever play. I expect it will be for a long time to come. Even after playing it for about seven months there are still plenty of things I have not done!
I am one of those people who loves to play a game, but hates to finish a game. I don't get much enjoyment out of replaying a game that I have already finished (which is strange, because I can read the same books and watch the same movies over and over). That is why Oblivion (and Morrowind before it) are perfect games for me. I have played Oblivion on and off for three years without ever once touching the main quest.
Oblivion.
Dead Space.
Forza 3.
And I do know how Destri feels. Hey look, its 130 hours in, I guess I had better start the main quest.
Been playing A LOT of Fable: The Lost Chapters. And I mean A LOT. Seriously, in one day, my hours played went from seven to fifteen.
Lol.
-Liam
TES3 and WoW
Still looking for the Oblivion GotY for PC.
Aliens vs Predator anyone? The newest version of the game of course, It's one of my current favourites (along with Oblivion and LOTR: Conquest)
Steel Panthers WWII and Morrowind- Bloodmoon.
No Oblivion until I can afford a PCI-E graphics card. And probably no screen-shots of Athynae- the integrated video chipset reacts badly to the head-replacer mod and causes artifacts which= the appearance of "Dunmer pattern baldness."
Steel Panthers brings back memories. I just could not get into the modern era sequel, but the original set in Dubya Dubya Eye Eye just rocked my socks off. Tons of excellent historical battles to play out, and lively campaigns from so many different points of view. I loved the scenario where you play the U.S. Marines invading one of the two little islands next to Guadalcanal. That was a real nail-biter! Or the alternate history one where you defend San Francisco from the Japanese. I lost so many hours of my life to that game, and do not regret a minute!
FIFA World Cup '06 for the PS2. Yup, still don't own a next gen console. The game isn't even mine, I'm sharing it with a roommate. I'm currently playing a managerial campaign as Everton.
I don't want to play anything too involving or addicting because I'm in school right now.
Morrowing GOTY edition arrived this afternoon! It's pretty darn good. Started a new game as an Imperial who signed up with the legion straight away, he heard some rumours of a place called Solstheim and has gone to check it out...
Ufortunately he ran into some Reavers and got owned so I went back to the drawing board (Or the character creation screen as some call it) and created:
'Hjolfyr the Nord', hunter and woodsman by trade, this crossbow weilding, light armour wearing snow wolf hunter soon became interested in the EEC and is now sitting comfortably at the top of the carreer ladder in raven rock. He is also doing the Skaal tests in his spare time.
Well, I'm still playing exclusively Oblivion. Over three years now. I only play one character at a time and have been happily adventuring with my current one for right at a year and a half now. She's at about 500 hours of game time.
Oblivion for me...could it be anything else?
Been playing Halo Reach and a little Warriors of rock the past week. But now I'm playing a little Halo 3 just because it's so awesome! (And because Reach is making me scream in frustration)
I didn't like Reach much, it just didn't seem like a good sendoff for the halo series.
Yeah I'd be lying if I'd said I disagree.
I've been playing a lot of Left 4 Dead on my trusty PC.
After a while of doing FO3, I am back to playing Oblivion again. It is nice to see green again. I just finished the KOTN questline. That was the last major questline I had left to do. Now I am starting a new character inspired by a topic in the Beth forums, a restoration/conjuration/illusion magician.
I'm currently playing Black Ops and a retro game called Minecraft.
Been playing Warhammer:Battle march lately and have just-this-minute gone back on Oblivion.
After watching the 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland (or was it Johnny Depp in Wonderland?), I have been playing American McGee's Alice. I have not played it in years. Goddess, such and adorable game!
"So wake up, Mr. Freeman . . . wake up and smell the ashes."
I am currently on what has to be my 50th playthrough of Half Life 2 . . . and I haven't even touched The Orange Box yet!
I just got Morrowind GOTY for the PC (already had it for the XBox, but it didn't play well on my 360) - and Fallout: New Vegas !!!! WOOOOOOT !!!!! (Early Xmas presents, haven't gotten to play either yet, but will before 12/25, guaranteed !!! )
All I want for Christmas is Morrowind, but I don't think that Santa is getting the hints. Might have to take matters into my own hands.
I'm still playing Oblivion, just started a new character. Big fun.
Mass Effect 1 and 2...and naturally Morrowind for me.
Mass Effect 2 was great, I'm so glad I played it before its predecessor which may be the worst game I've ever played. The storyline may well have been good but I never managed to see it through my rage at the non-functional controls and diabolical cover system. Unfortunatly the offer of a decent storyline kept dragging me back until I sold the game to be rid of it. It was the whole third attempt I know how to do this bit then spending the next half hour trying to make the controls do what I wanted them to. And don't get me started on the AI.
So yes, reading the plot online was more for me.
Currently I'm playing some fairly poor military flight 'sim' (it's very arcade like though) I can't remember the name of. Good to play for short moments between exam revision though. After that I might play fallout or mass effect 2 again.
I'm actually playing a PC game (Shock horror) called 'Zeus:Master of Olympus', It's quite old but really good.
Fallout: New Vegas !!! I am seriously considering replaying Fallout 3 again too, F:NV has made me homesick for it. I put away FO3 a year ago and have only played Oblviion since (on both 360 and PC).
Also, for my XMas present - I bought myself Morrowind for the PC - FINALLY !!! I couldn't stand playing it backwards compatably on my 360 !!! So maybe now I'll get to see some of these quests I've been reading about !!! (YEAH !!!)
Well... besides Oblivion, you mean? (My RP Character right now is a Green Pact Bosmer Ranger, so he can't use any plant matter for alchemy or food.)
There's Morrowind GOTY (MQ power-through char is finished, so I'm switching to RP chars now)
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Fallout 3
Call of Duty (2 and 4, MW2 ruined the multiplayer IMHO)
The Orange Box
(And both of these on my beloved old Gamecube)
Zelda Twilight Princess
Zelda Wind Waker
I...can't play ANYTHING!!!! No pc available, my nice laptop is now in the hands of someone ...unexperienced, and won't be the same until reboot.
What I'm using now is a mac...
Pity me!
I've finally decided to dust off my copy of Flight Simulator 2004 while I wait for my new sound card to arrive before getting back into Oblivion.
Old man's "game?" Hardly even a game... with the right add-ons. Especially when you are flying planes like http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7991/bamboozleshot744.jpg Bamboozled? You have every right to be, everything you see there works the way it should, from the instruments to the systems to the computer. Everything.
(Photo is from the cockpit of a Boeing 747-400)
That particular plane was a payware add-on provided by the Precision Manuals Development Group (PMDG) and is officially licensed by Boeing. THAT'S realistic.
Fallout: New Vegas - only 1 hour gameplay so far - haven't had time to get back on it, lol.
I'm currently switching between Oblivion and Fallout 3. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to play at this time of year. I work for UPS and, as you can imagine, we are quite busy.
Whoo! I didn't know anyone side's me had a Gamecube anymore!
Lets see...
XBOX 360
Oblivion, my 11 year old assassin Nord girl named Jane
GAMECUBE
Zelda Windwaker, a guy named aRAGON (yes, sadly, something happened when I was making him, and the caps switched. But I was only 8, so.)
Animal Crossing, a really ugly girl called Texas.
Lego Starwars 1 and 2 (No names on this)
Harry Potter 4 ('cept I'm playing Hermione)
Narnia (No names)
And then I also have this weird nintendo old thing that's kinda like a gamecube, 'cept you put in this chip, instead of a disk, to play games, and I'm playing Super Mario on that, and Mission Impossible (which is deffinatly impossible)
and on my moms laptop, FATE (a truely awesum computer game)/.
And, we also own Fable 3, which looks fun, 'cept I'm not allowed to play it cuz apparently 12 isn't 'mature' enough to play a game with blood and gore! *rolls eyes*
I suppose I should just be glad my mom hasn't acually watched me play Oblivion, or I'd be, like, DEAD.
Of course, watching my older sister play it isn't exactly fun. IT'S TORTURE!!!!!!!!!!
Pity Me... *snifl snifl*
I'm playing some leisurely Fable 2 right now, but I plan to switch to a massive playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins/Awakening soon to prepare for DA2.
Well, now that Ubisoft has finally relaxed their DRM scheme, I've decided to get back into Assassin's Creed 2. Having played Assassin's Creed 1, as well I can really say that this one is a huge improvement in almost every regard. It's good to see developers listen to the fans.
Since New Vegas has been patched, had some balancing done, and been patched some more I'm playing through it again. I gotta say its alot better than it was and they worked hard to correct most of the issues the game had upon release.
playing through Dragon age:Origins as a dwarf commoner. However, I got xbox live up and running so I have been playing a lot of Halo:Reach as well.
Let's eat Grandma' or 'Let's eat, Grandma'---Punctuation saves lives!
Eats, shoots, and leaves! LOL! I love that book! Its funny!
the panda walks into the library, eats a peanut butter jelly sandwich, shoots an arrow through a book and is about to leave when the librarian says "Why are you doing that?"
The panda shows her a piece of paper that says:
'PANDA, EATS, SHOOTS, AND LEAVES'
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Will soon be playing Mass Effect 2 on the xBox- just arrived in the mail. I think Yvonne Strahovsky did some voice acting on it.... Yum. She is Australian, you know.
Indeed she did. She plays Miranda Lawson. She is also romance-able as male Shepard.
Fable 3 is crap. If you played and liked any of the other Fable games then you will almost definately hate Fable 3. There are only a few expressions this time around, less customization, no menus, AI actually got worse, and "stores" only have one or two items inside. There is no inventory system or menus, many spells have now been replaced with potions that can only be used inside combat, food as well. I didn't even play an hour in before I quit and vowed never to play it again, for me the game was impossible to enjoy and I honestly believe that this game represents everything thats wrong with the modern RPG.
Its been simplified to the point where I actually believe that a five year old could effectively play through it. The game plays like it was designed with a mental handicap in mind and I really, really hate it. I wouldn't exactly call the first or second Fable game deep roleplaying games but Fable 3 is about as shallow as you can get and doesn't pass for even a second class RPG. Thankfully I followed my insticts on this and only rented it.
I've been spending a good deal of time lately playing the latest sequel full-price expansion pack Halo: Reach. I'm having fun, but I don't think the game was worth $60.00 (American).
I just got down to Dragon Age Origins, had it for a week or so but hadn't got round to actually starting it. From what I can tell it's an obsenely long game, which is fine by me though I'm less enamoured with the combat system (though choosing weapons entirely on grounds of size may not be helping).
Still it has quite a fun storyline and is sufficently dark on occasion.
I'm playing Sorority Life on Facebook right now... I'm borderline obsessed with it. I love the outfits and the accessory combinations and of course all the people I play with.
Well, I've decided to fish out and give some time to an old classic I've owned for quite some time now: Age of Mythology.
After Age of Empires 2, this game is the crown jewel of Ensemble Studios' RTS library. It is extraordinarily entertaining, the multiplayer gives it a lot of lasting replayability... and best of all, they included the SDK.

PS: Acadian, if you're reading this and you have a copy of AoM, you need to check out http://aom.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=5910 Trust me, it's worth it!
Ive been playing a lot of dead rising 2 recently. Got to say, the handy chipper is the most gory, messy, brutal weapon ever!
ive also been playing a lot of halo reach, since I got the limited edition when it came out and hardly ever played it.
Angry Birds for me.
Hilariously funny, and pretty realistic physics.
When the surviving pigs grin at you at the end of the failed level, grrrr! Makes me want to nail those SOB's!
That looks twistedly fun! And has a good eye for physics at the same time.
I have taken Fallout 3 out for another spin. This time I am trying my hand at a http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11215, a slightly animeized child race. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3051.jpg is just adorable in her pink dress. But she can http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3053.jpg with the http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3054.jpg The only thing that puzzles her is that http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3052.jpg, which she has affectionately named Baar Dau.
What am i playing? What a silly question. Oblivion, of course. My husband would say that's all I ever play anymore (in terms of video games, that is mostly true). However, when Skyrim comes out, I'll have two games I play all the time, instead of only one!
Okay, I am currently torn between two titles for my next game purchase.
I have already decided it will be a driving title, but I need some help deciding. The candidates are:
- Forza Motorsport 3
- Gran Turismo 5
I already know that the strengths of Forza are that it is very forgiving, coming with a number of driving aids like showing you the ideal line through a racecourse, and also being a much better game online (minus the idiots you commonly get in popular Xbox Live titles). This is certainly the most polished of the two, with the downsides being that you can only partake in Grand Prix or Endurance style races on paved tracks and that it is not quite as refined a simulation as GT.
GT5, on the other hand, is a lot more hardcore, with a more accurate simulation, over 1000 cars to choose from, and more varied racing types than Forza (Forza only does Grand Prix style, whereas GT has rally driving and NASCAR, for example). The downsides are that GT5's graphics are wildly inconsistent to the point of being immersion breaking (only certain cars get modeled interiors, for instance, and I'm a die-hard cockpit driver), and the soundtrack (music and engine) is rubbish.
So, they both carry equal weight... which would you choose?
Just got through Portal 2 yesterday and I gotta say it was alot more challenging than I thought it'd be, much better than the first game, and also laced with plenty of humor throughout the entire thing. Very fun game, give it a rent if you like puzzle games.
Also gotta give props to Red Faction: Armageddon's demo for keeping me busy destroying stuff for as long as it did. Gotta say that I'm pretty excited about it coming out soon so I can break more stuff. I know it may not sound that special or look amazing in the previews but I was pleasantly surprised by how fun it was, can't wait for the full release, try the demo.
Fianlly decided to play Red Dead Redemption and all I can say is: "Why did I not get it sooner!?". I am in love with this game, even after completing the main missions I keep finding myself strolling along the northern forests in search of bears! Of course, I was on Oblivion this morning in a lengthy preperation for Skyrim.
Still playing TES, but I've got something new about it--I'm learning how to mod!!! It's so cool--I've only learned a couple minor things (special thanks to SubRosa for sending me the necessary links! They're awesome!), but it's a start, and I'm very happy with what I've done.
Currently, I am working on a mod to go along with Tandilwen's story in the fan fiction. It's pretty cool, and I'm very excited.
What world was I in, playing Oblivion without mods? Mods are awesome! I'm more in love with TES than ever before...
I bought fallout new vegas a couple days ago and am totally addicted to it! My main character is a hitman-like guy who is mainly good. In other words, a skilled rifleman who is adept at lockpicking and science, fighting for the good guys. but things are known to "go missing" sometimes.
I'll try to get a picture, but it'll be really bad quality. Also, I like my character so much, I might have a bash at writing some new vegas fan fiction.
I played the first half of RDR but it didn't really do much for me, not sure what it was really. Slightly too much riding cross country and a plot I couldn't get into were a part of it, anyway suffice to say I got about half way and gave up.
After finishing exams I bought myself Dragon Age 2, I was a bit apprehensive after it's predessesor which was good in many ways but had massive weaknesses. I'm glad I continued, the plot is good, the characters are (mainly) good, the controls work (unlike the previous one). Only problem I'm having is that it seems to be pushing the xbox a little to hard and it stutters occasionally.
Heroes of Might and Magic 5- strangely addictive, as is most of the franchise.
Morrowind- have to, in order to write my story. Not that I mind- I still love the game. And, by "holding" my character at a given point in the story, I can increas my own anticipation and sense of wonder at "what happens next".
Have only played all the way through Bloodmoon once, long ago- so this is quite revelatory even for me.
Well, several months and several patches later...
I can finally play Call of Duty: Black Ops on my PC.
What a let-down I had to wait six months before I could actually play it, especially since the game is actually performing extremely well with no major FPS drops even during the largest battles the game can throw at me.
I still do not think I will be getting MW3 after this, but hey... at least I can finally play the game I paid good money for.
Still both made by subsidiaries of Activision. I've given up buying newly released games for this very reason - the industry uses the early buyers as unpaid beta testers then releases a patch (or several) to make the game work. Consoles have gone the same way, even if most aren't actually online.
If you just don't but the game until the second patch then it's usually ok...
Talking of not working I just finished DA2 (and very much enjoyed it, a vast improvement on the first). I got it for the 360 because I couldn't be bothered making it run on my PC and it stuttered occasionally. On a PC it's fair enough seeing as every system is different but on a console? Really?
I've been playing Supreme Commander and Sins of a Solar Empire.
SupCom would be better if it would take advantage of more than 1 core. I watched my CPU meters while playing and it put everything on core 1 and left all others untouched. It would also be better if it didn't cap itself on 2 GB of RAM because it needs more. I can't get any really big battles going before it crashes. Someone claimed they've fixed the crashing issue using virtual memory.
Sins of a Solar Empire is the first space RTS I've played and I really love it. The developer calls it a 4X RTS actually.
It's quite addicting. I love building a massive fleet and tossing them at some planet and watch them thrash the defenses and then nuke the planet from orbit. Capital ships are lots of fun because they have special abilities and attacks that can turn the tide of battle. This game has no issues that I have run into.
Crysis 2 has had my attention for a while now!
The game has brilliant graphics, on both xbox and ps3, and the game flows brilliantly! I love the nano abilities and experimenting with different tactics. My favourite is going stealth and walking up behind a group of enemies, then pulling the pin on a grenade and activating armor. BOOM!
Sadly, the multiplayer community is very small now, with half the gametypes being deserted.
Crysis 2 is beautiful and a very fun game as well, I rented it for the 360 and I have to say it was a very good experience.
Just beat Red Faction Armageddon today, sweet game if you like to use tons of weapons to just lay waste to the buildings and objects around you. It wasn't good enough that I'll buy it but it was definately worth the rental.
As for what I'm playing now I'm back on Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars. I love RTS games where you build an army and wipe out your enemies, I suck online but I really enjoy playing rounds on skirmish mode where I can customize the options. I know some people would strike me down for this comment but I prefer it to Starcraft personally.
I bought minecraft a couple days ago, and its brilliant!
I tried the free version and wasnt too keen on it, since there was no challenge. When I saw a video of the full game, I loved the idea of having to harvest your own resources and building shelter to survive the night.
Right now I have a small hut made of planks, surrounded by a lava moat, with a mechanical drawbridge on my side! Oh, and theres a farm behind my house.
I just started playing League of Legends. Very good thing that I stayed away from it during the semester. That would have killed my grades.
Real Racing HD for the iPad2.
Never really tried out the racing games before, though I thought they seemed interesting. IRL, I love cars, especially the ones that spin on a dime and have super-tight handling (pretty much the same way I like my horses, come to think of it). Top speed is useless if you can't take the tight corners and pull some serious G's without a tire coming off the pavement.
I'm pretty happy with this game - it's very addictive, and the controls are pretty realistic. It takes advantage of the iPad's built-in accelerator and the iPad itself is my steering wheel. The touch screen is pretty sensitive for braking and acceleration, which makes it a hair short of perfect. If I could just tilt the iPad away from me for acceleration and bring it back to me for braking, then the controls would be out-of-this-world awesome!
Graphics and gameplay are smooth and awesome. I have a whole new level of respect for that little A5 chip that sits inside this little dinkum.
And to think I bought it to write on away from the lap top. Um. Right. That reminds me . . .
Found Fable (first one) in the deep corners of my Xbox hard drive so I've started a new character. Quite addicted but I still have a moment when I jump into Viva Pinata for a while.
L.A. Noire has had my attention for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure most of you know what it is but I'm going to go on and tell anyway. It is a crime thriller game where you play as the character Cole Phelps in 1947. You start off as a regular cop but as you get further into the game you get promoted. You get to solve traffic cases, homocide (the best part of the game), vice cases and arson cases. In the game there are alot of references to The Black Dahlia. The most outstanding thing about this game are the facial expressions. The characters in L.A. Noire are probably the most alive characters in any game right now. You get to interview suspects and you can choose whether to believe them or not depending on their facial expressions.
I think that it's a great game. It feels like a movie. The story takes 20+ hours to complete I'd say. Now that I have completed the game so I'll probably not play it for a while but I'm sure that I will replay it again.
A new game for the iPad: Infinity Blade.
It's a very simple hack-n-slash game with awesome graphics and pretty intuitive controls. You can parry, dodge and block, as well as cast magic (though it's funny that the enemy waits for you to finish casting a heal spell that restores all your health). The storyline is very simplistic, almost nonexistent, but the game play is quite addictive. Because of the paucity of health potions, and because you can cast spells only during combat, you do have to be careful how you allocate your XP's at each level, and you do have to think on your toes.
It's quite a lot of fun to just go up against these big guys and hammer at them (or dodge/block their strikes) until they're dead. But I do miss the deep story you can build in RPG's.
Oh, and my cats have a new one on the iPad that the three legged one is actually quite good at. It's called Cat Fishing (from Friskies) and it's pretty simple, but they love it. The best part of it is that it's free!
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab186/hauteecole/Cats/CatFishing6.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab186/hauteecole/Cats/CatFishing4.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab186/hauteecole/Cats/CatFishing1.jpg
After ten fishes "caught", the game goes to the splash screen. You tap it to start a new game. Trinity has got it all figured out and can amuse himself for fifteen minutes, which is a long attention span in cat terms (not only are cats autistic, but they also have ADHD).
I just got Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
I've only played a couple hours of it but it definately deserves its "10/10 - Buy this game!" lable. The upgrades/augments menu has tons of sweet abilities, my favourites being the wall punch and ICARUS system. Dialouge is more deep than other RPG's, with no clear good or evil option. Finally, the plot of the game is told much better than FF: 13's "Glossary" of info, instead it has you finding info in news boards, emails, etc. 10/10 from me!
I've been playing lots of Gears of War 3. The new horde mode is especially entertaining.
I agree with you on the boss fights. I started off as an infiltrator character, able to aess anywhere and wielding a heavily modded 10mm pistol. However, when it came to the first boss fight, I couldnt take more than a few hits before keeling over and I might as well have been hitting him with a wet flanel for all the damage it did!
Was Mass Effect 2 there for awhile.
But I always manage to wander back into Oblivion somehow.
If it's not Oblivion, (since I only recently got into it enough to really give it a go) I have the MMORPG City of Heroes and have Mass Effect (1/2) games to gear up for import to Mass Effect 3.
Though Oblivion is taking the lion's share of interest since it's 'new'.
A few nights ago I started playing Rome Total War again, using my Amazon Total War mod. "The Age of Man is over!"
I've only played Medieval II Total War, and I loved it. I've never completed a grand campaign in that game because I'd set out with my own goals and forget the set objectives.
I loved the turn based strategy and real time tactics of each battle though.
Well, nothing I suppose. Nothing at the moment.
But the last thing I played (last week or so) was Morrowind, before that, Rome: Total War and before that I played From Dust.
Just found my way back into Morrowind. I'll probably be spending a bit of time back east for now, it's been awhile since I've paid Vvardenfell a visit.
Morrowind and Daggerfall...nuff' said
Yup, I think I've worked something out here. I'm now alternating between Morrowind and Oblivion depending on whatever I'm in the mood to play. I've already gotten each game where the gameplay is almost the same between the two (well, obviously no random chance system for Oblivion) so it's an easy transition to make. Leveling is the same, combat is sorta the same, spellcasting (I have modded in magicka regen in Morrowind, only much slower than in Oblivion), the works.
And to tell you the truth, despite how not-immersive Morrowind's combat is, it actually is kinda fun (woe befall me if I say that on the Skyrim boards at the other forum). I actually think I enjoy it more than Oblivion's! For one simple reason: unpredictability. I always know what happens next in Oblivion's combat, but with Morrowind, I don't. Am I going to hit this time? Is he? Will he stagger me, or me him? Or will he knock me down (and completely pummel me while I'm out of it)?
I bought Fable 3 last week and have played through that. Normally it takes me an age to finish games, if I ever finish them at all, so it was quite an achievement to complete it in just a few days.
I didn't really like it though. The ending depressed me. :/
Still working on Morrowind- Bloodmoon Expansion
Downloaded Panzer General:Allied Assault for the xBox
Dip into some arcade things as a diversion- Puzzle Quest- Challenge of the Warlords at the moment
For all potential players of Resistance 3: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/4728-Resistance-3
I guarantee it will crack you up.
EDIT: Oh dear, upon watching his Human Revolution review, he apparently takes exception to "pre-baked cut-away finishing moves, inoperable cancers of the modern action game (sic)."
Seems we now know one part of Skyrim we know he won't enjoy now. Pretty big feature, that, too. In fact, given his views on Human Revolution, I'm pretty sure he'll have something to say about how simplified Skyrim is going to be.
Zero Punctuation is always hilarious, when you can keep up what that speed freak is saying!
I have never even heard of Resistance 1 or 2, let alone 3. Same with Human Revolution...
Deus Ex: Human Revolution?
Well if you had mentioned the Deux Ex part, then I would have said I have heard of it. Not much, but I do know it exists.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, is one of the shooter/rpg hybrids that I've ever played.
I've been playing Borderlands a lot lately. Its a fun game, though I have to admit there were times I completely forgot what the story was and who the blue eyed girl popping up in the top right corner was and what I was supposed to be helping with. Just a lot of "Go here and kill this person" and then "Go here, grab that for me." Still, its a whole lot of fun
The only issue I have with the game (not related to gameplay) is Siren's power up names: "Diva" "Inner Glow" "Dramatic Entrance" "Hard to Get" to name a few. I know she's "the girl" but really?
Been pretty absorbed into Fallout 3 lately. Wanderer's Edition makes things a lot tougher and really makes surviving in the Wasteland come into its own. Every journey is a risk now.
But the rewards are just as much greater now, too. Chems do a lot more for you now, and there's plenty of new potential fixes for you to play with. For instance, Med-X (re-labeled Morphine, which Bethesda actually originally intended until Australia stated they would ban the game because of that) allows you to temporarily ignore crippled limbs alongside the DR Bonus, and I have configured things so that taking Jet allows me to enter Bullet-Time. A lot of real-world drugs are in now, too, including cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine (though I refuse to use those). You can even open those packs of cigarettes you found laying around and gun a stick if you want (again, see the Australia censorship for why Bethesda didn't let you do this in the vanilla game).
But do note the consequences of addiction. You can't pay 50 caps for a dose of Coldturkene in the real world, kiddos, so don't go getting any ideas here.
Plenty of new weapons to experiment with, including modern hardware (such as M-14s, Beretta M9s, and P90s) and some weapons from previous Fallout titles (Wattz laser weapons, for instance).
Lots of reason to go scavving, danger around every bend, and a bunch of fun to boot? Count me in!
I got Skyrim today! I've only played for a couple of hours but so far I'm enjoying it.
What console and how'd you get it?!
I'm playing with my nerves.
I want both 2-handed and 1-handed combat to augment my destruction skill, but points are bloody scarce.
I'm playing Oblivion today. Just like yesterday and tomorrow.
I am, however, enthusiastically cheering all our brave Skyrim Beta Playtesters though. After a year or so of patching, wiki'ing and sorting out the 'new game' things, I look forward to considering whether to disable the border between Cyrodill and Skyrim. There is so much in Cyrodiil and Valenwood to do first though.
Skyrim PC, baby!
All graphics options are maxed (except shadows, which are on High quality, as Ultra causes huge slowdowns) on a legacy GPU (8800 GT)? Take that, minimum system requirements!
By the way, the shadow slowdowns are not my GPU's fault. They are actually rendered by the CPU (engine console-itis there). If they were GPU rendered, I could easily go Ultra on them.
So far, I've taken exception to the new UI, but everything else is making battling with the menus well worth it.
And I've also encountered my first major bug: companions do not travel with you very well. Sometimes they follow like normal, and sometimes they teleport (probably from getting stuck on something). I've also had my companion teleport right right on top of me for no good reason several times.
Oh, and she's already shot me twice, too. They weren't lying when they said companions are idiots.
BTW Acadian, it's best Buffy not travel to Skyrim right away, too. Once she glimpses herself in a lake, she would never speak to you again. She'll need a race mod if she doesn't want to look like she's fresh out of the asylum.
Elves do look like someone just slapped a thin skin on their skulls don't they. :/ Miss the skin/hair color customization as well.
I will say this, though: Buffy is going to LOVE the new archery model.
Fallout 3... ...
And I blame Colonel Mustard entirely... ...
Am in the process of downloading Nehrim.
I know, it doesn't really count as a game. But I've been promising myself to play it for a long time now.
With finals over, and my next class not starting until next year, I find myself in need of new inspiration . . .
I'll let you know!
Still loving your pics of Aravi and Kharjo over in Skyrim. Almost makes me want to play one meself! Only they don't look this amazing in Cyrodiil . . .
Well it's the next morning.
After a frustrating installation and a search on the Internet for the answers (which I found), I finally started Nehrim yesterday. Played it all afternoon and again all night after dinner. All I can say is - wow!
And KC, no Khajiits in the game - sorry. There are only three races - Imperial, Nord and half-Elven. Oh well. Have to say the tailed folk are much missed here, though the snooty Altmer are not!
I took advantage of steams holiday deals and picked up the entire amnesia and penumbra series. I know that quite a lot of horror games are over exagerrated for their horror (looking at you dead space) so I thought theese would be good breeze through for a couple hours each. Totally wrong!
Ive spent loads of my time hiding behind crates, praying that the mean monsters will leave me alone.
These games are not for the faint of heart!
Deus Ex: Human Revolution; incredibly enjoyable, thought-provoking and challenging game, so far, except for the extremely disappointing boss fight that I've had so far which was a real schlep. It's not good design to force a person focussed on stealth and hacking to use gunplay as the only way to defeat a boss, dammit!
Still, aside from that, the good old idea of every action having consequences and multiple approaches to each route is working fine, and putting those fights aside it's a fine game indeed.
Not Skyrim, that much I can tell you. Its 7000 Yen, man! Too pricey for a reality breaker. Instead, I bought Borderlands and I'm enjoying it so far. A mix between between FPS and RPG and that two genres are my favorites. Mixing them and a Post-Apocalyptic setting? Too proper for little old me to handle. I will have Skyrim, but Borderlands is proving to be a rivaling distraction...
Wow, that's like $90!
I've been splitting my gaming time between Skyrim and Battlefield 3. The campaign sucks but the multiplayer is fun. It appeals to me because it is a bit slower paced than the CODs due to the size of the maps. There are lots of items to unlock. The kits you can choose makes things interesting because they benefit your team in different ways. Some can drop medkits and revive allies, others can give ammo. Some can fix vehicles and others can deploy a drone to search for enemies.
EDIT: spelling error
Ahh good 'ol BF3. I have that too. While I agree that the campaign does suck, I gotta admit that it was... fun. Weird combo, if ya ask me. The MP is another matter. IT IS PURE BLISS. I think I spent a whole day playing that nonstop. It certainly beats CoD with its tactical requirement to win. Whereas in CoD you just run around and shoot people, BF urges you to be a group or else you're dead. I like those kind of games. Its a lot more fun. Speaking of which, this kinda reminds me of MAG. While not even close to BF, it compensates for it by its sheer number of players and the resulting fun. 256 players in 1 match. 1 MATCH. Thats certainly something.
Oblivion is starting to feel a little stale, so I think I am going to take a break from it, and go back to Morrowind. When I last left Artemis she still had over half of Vvardenfell to explore.
Mortar! You would not believe how many times I died to that when my crew encountered an ace who was just a demon with mortars. He was situated well and we couldn't get a feed on him. He was still raining down on us when we heard the roar of a jet. Seconds later we heard an enormous explosion. Kamikaze. Didn't do a thing. But it was awesome to see. Besides, that allowed us to locate the mortar demon (the Kamikaze was very close to the mortar's position) and one of my friends, a sniper, got lucky and finally killed the offender. Then we met an enemy tank.
I'm dying to try it out!
I used to be really good with the tanks too. Not so much after my long absence from BF. I did shoot down a heavy attack chopper last night with the 120mm. He didn't see that one coming.
Whoah! That's .... IDK what to say other than "WHOAH". When I encounter an enemy armor or heli, I usually do one of three things. 1. Run and hide. 2. Take it down. 3. Go crazy and take it down Hollywood style. I usually do 1 because I'm a pure-bred Rifleman.
Persona 3 Portable, because it's you know portable! And since my psp is easier to carry to the hospital then my laptop, tried playing on maniac, made my head hurt.
And I'm also going to buy a PS2 soon so many good games that I missed because I had a gamecube.
Oblivion!!!... ...
Oh how I have missed thee... ...
...
My earlier post about MAG has stoked a fire inside me... And now, I am fighting world-wide for myself, for fortune... For the brotherhood. That's the tagline from one of the PMCs, actually, so pardon the cheesiness. Hmmm... Cheese... Where was I? Oh, yes, Maggie the Magpie. An MMO that, in my opinion, has done its genre right. There may be some awkwardness in its technology, but that's SEVERELY downsided by the FUN it provides! Seriously! If you have PS3, I recommend downloading the trial. That is, if you're the Shootah-toipe. Like seriousley, moite, its onn of a koinde. I like accents, BTW. =p
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga... ...
Mass Effect 3 demo.
I want this game. I want it now!!
Same here, going through the second game again to get ready for ME3.
Kindoms of Alamur: Rekoning...
Which is getting better every time I play it...It really is a decent bit of game...
I read about the latest Assassin's Creed...That'll be Assassin's Creed III donchaknow... ...Aaamywho...I've gone back to the start, because it's a fun game... ...Me likee Altair...
Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Playing my Sith Warrior guy. Racking up on some Dark Side points and slaying just about anything and anyone.
Currently playing Mass Effect 3 at the moment. I've heard bad things about the ending, which I haven't quite got to yet, but so far I'm enjoying it immensely; the writing, which has already been excellent in the first two games, has taken a step up and there have been some truly fantastic moments so far. My personal favourite bit to date has been 'someone else might have gotten it wrong' (you'll know the part I'm talking about if you've played it); not only was it greatly moving, but I also had an immense sense of accomplishment afterwards, and even though it was only a fictional video game universe I couldn't help but feel that I'd done some good and made a difference.
Oddly enough- Duels of the Planeswalkers (the Magic: The Gathering card game) on the xBox. I rather like the strategic aspects of making the most of the cards you are dealt- as well as setting up for particular opponents.
Well I'm (kind of) playing Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. I got the game and the expansion for less than $10. It's really confusing but I feel like it'll be a lot of fun once I get the hang of it. Acadian got me interested in it and he's been kindly holding my hand as I figure out what the heck I'm supposed to be doing. I'm not even out of the first dungeon though.
And I'm playing Skyrim.
Mass Effect 3 was great, it was everything I hoped for and more...right up until the ending. Don't worry I won't spoil it for you but rest assured the "multiple endings" are basically all the same exact extremely brief cutscene.
The only difference in any of the three endings is that a certain laser beam's color scheme changes. Thats it. No explanation of how your decisions change things at all. It is as if all the decisions you made over the last three games make no difference at all at the end of the game. It was just sad to see one of my favorite series' of all time end so badly.
I held off on ME3 because DA2 was such a disaster. I'm glad I didn't get it. Instead I bought a game by the same company that is going on 12 years old. lol.
So, finally finished ME3. The ending was...interesting. It made me think, and think a lot more than any other game has ever managed.
It was by no means perfect, and had I been part of the writing team there were definitely things I would have changed, but it stayed true to the core themes of the series and gave me an interesting moral conundrum to try and puzzle out (I'm still not certain if I did the right thing, but I think I did. Possibly). It could do with expansion, yes, and a better sense of closure, but overall I actually quite liked it.
And now, back to Skyrim. FUS RO DAH!!
Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition came in the mail today. I installed it and tried it out. I cannot believe how cartoonish it looks compared to Oblivion and Skyrim. Even compared to other Bioware games like Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, and the Kotor games. I tried it out for a bit to get a feel, and put it aside. I will probably get around to playing it more sometime though. I want to see how far Ulfdis can get in the Skyrim civil war first.
Hi. I play Skyrim about 80%...Oblivion the rest of the time. I haven't touched Sims or Tomb Raider or any of my other games in years.
Just fired up Planescape: Torment after buying it off the wonderful Good Old Games.
It's so wierd. So, so wonderfully wierd. It's like the Shivering Isles if the Development team had been taking amphetamines and licking toads. And it's absolutely awesome...
Forza Motorsport 3, taking fast cars for laps 'round the Nurburgring.
So far, I've completed laps in a Porsche GP car and the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_FXX
Now I'm trying to attempt it in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_959, which feels like I'm driving with an elephant in the trunk (and there is, the engine is in the boot).
Playing through the DLC for Dungeon Siege III at the mo...Took a while to get used to the controls again, but it's still a damned good game...
I do rather enjoy it... ...
I pulled out my old Baldur's Gate disks to have a nostalgia session, but the second disk was just about unreadable, and I didn't get far. I may have to clean up some disk space and try and copy the whole set onto the hard drive, so it doesn't keep needing the disk swaps.
Or I might think it's not worth the effort, and play some more Daggerfall instead.
Hopelessly engrossed in Oblivion. About a year or two ago, I gave a very intense one month try to Dragon Age Origins. I tried really hard to like it, but gave it a fail. Dunno, just didn't get along with the restrictions.
I do play Buffy as an elven ranger (archer kit) in Baldur's Gate II. I was just telling Renee not too long ago that I have imported her picture and voice set into BGII and created her pretty closely. We pretend that somewhere in Cyrodiil is a mysterious door that leads to Faerun (sort of like the SI, Lol). Anyway, it is a fun diversion from the . . . loneliness of Oblivion. I have 1000s of hours in BGII from way back and it is certainly full of loads of interaction with a squabbling party. Great fun in small doses.
Well, I played BG for a while and remembered why I left. It's hard to role-play an entire party of 6 with different personalities, and BG doesn't let you just play the main character and let the rest do what they want. Everyone needs turn-by-turn micromanagement or they end up dead, and resurrection is just too expensive.
The companions in Oblivion (at least the better ones) are quite capable of putting on their own armor and following the general orders you gave them. Which reminds me of a few tweaks I need to make to Angeline and Diablita....
I'm exploring Skyrim right now in the hopes of finally getting back to writing. Otherwise, I play Battlefield 3 or ME 3 with my schoolmates.
Just to show I'm not a complete sell-out for new games, I've started playing Tales of Symphonia again. I haven't played many JRPGs and the gameplay's a little dated, but the story is enjoyable... so long as you can keep up with the gambit pileup the characters find themselves in the last two thirds of the game.
I will admit the Male Shepard/Kaiden romance was sooo well written, but the ending? Bah, actually one of the head writers posted before, that Casey pretty much locked himself and wrote the ending without any peer review.
Which explains the terrible, terrible...just bad. Urgh.
I been playing Oblivion, since my Skyrim refuses to work
With a hint of Civilization, Persona 3 and 4. I'm just patiently waiting for Dragon's Dogma
Also Tales of Symphonia was really fun
Fallout - New Vegas for a bit...Was trailer trawling on Youtube yesterday and saw the Ultimate Edition one and got all nostalgic...Felt I needed to shoot something...Y'know?... ...
You guys didn't give Dragon Age: Origins a chance. It takes into account soooo many different things in the ending slide show that you did during your game. Seriously it takes into account more than any game I've ever played.
It is kind of like KOTOR or The Witcher rather than like large open world games like Elderscrolls games. It uses attributes and a fairly complex skill tree much like KOTOR and has lots of conversation options when speaking to NPC's that can dramatically change the way things play out.
Very good game IMO.
If you can say only one thing about Bioware, it is that their characters are deeper than basically any other game maker's.
I've been playing a bit of Skyrim starting a new character under the Dead is Dead rules, I've also been on Minecraft a bit but I'm finding it difficult to maintain interest in the game.
Picked up all the Fallout 3 content used the other day and have been working back into the mindset of the the "Lone Wanderer." (grumbles... stupid Talon Company...)
Back on Kingdoms of Amalur at the mo...Much fun!!...
I just noticed something, The more facial hair a male character has, the more it takes to kill them. The more anatomically incorrect and back-destroying a pair of breasts on a female character is, the higher their damage output.
Anyway, I'm playing Oblivion! And maybe D3
Diablo 3 and Skyrim!
Diablo 3 , I forgot that I got it free when I did the annual pass.
Currently playing Assassins Creed...The plan is to play all four in a row...Yeah...Not sure I'll manage that one somehow...But hey, it's a plan at least...*Shrug*... ...
Hey those were fun. To be honest, if you haven't bought Brotherhood and the other one yet, I'd wait on them and see. The last two were ACII with some added gimmicks. That's how I felt anyways.
Finished the first Assassins Creed around dinnertime and pretty much immeadiately started Assassins Creed 2... ...Booyah!!...Killing and looting!!...Oh yah..oh yah...*Does dance of joy*...
Assassins Creed Brotherhood... ...
I may have mentioned...
I'm absolutely loving this...Definately my fave of the series so far...
Nothing better than calling half a dozen master Assassins down on a few puny town guards... ...
Assassins Creed Revelations...
Getting there... ...
Got Battlefield 3 a couple of weeks ago.
Was a bit skeptical at first, campaign isn't great to start with, and multiplayer didn't really live up to expectations - mainly due to the fact everybody else is ten times better than me.
Then I realised that since I got it 7 days ago I've played it a considerable amount (as in, shitloads).
Damn thing gets addictive without you even noticing, the bastards
Anyhoo, JamieHinson is my psn if anybody wants.
Be warned, I will spawn in any jets/helicopters available and proceed to crash it within the next minute or so.
They desperately need some kind of tutorial for flying! I mean seriously, how are you meant kill ANYTHING in the air when I still can't work out how you even turn!
I've had one kill in the air, and that was because I accidentally crashed my jet into his helicopter and killed us both.
He sent me an angry message saying that 'jet-ramming is for cowards' or something like that, I said I couldn't do it again if I tried.
Ah rats in the dungeons, those were the days.
I love it when you go back to a game you've been stuck on for ages and because you're older everything seems so much easier!
It's never going to happen Malx, flying will never cease to confuse and amaze me.
I just feel sorry for the other BF3 players that get in my Helicopter when I'm driving, thinking 'Oh, he'll take us to the dropzone with a safe and risk-free journey'.
You guys got in the wroooong ride
In an attempt to get back into writing...I've gone back to Oblivion...
Robert McWylde stylee...
Who is the second character of mine to have acheived legend status in this house without having really earned it... ...I was stunned when I loaded it up (exactly 12 months since I last saved it on McWylde btw...That was a creepy coincidence...*Hears Twilight-Zone music*...) and discovered quite how many things he still needed to level up on...And...I haven't even picked up the Dragon Armour after finishing the MQ with him!!...
So yeah, back to Oblivion in an attempt to shake the cobwebs loose...You lucky people you... ...
Having a go with the original Bioshock...
It's creepy... ...I scaaared... ...
Gonna start Space Marine again...'Cause it's epic, noisy, fun and you can kill things with a honking great electric battle-hammer... ...
Skyrim (still) and a lovely little game called Magicka. You fight stuff by combining 'elements' on the fly to create spells that either protect you, harm the enemy, or harm you and maybe the enemy. It's a lot of fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgn0WJFxWNI
I liked that honest caption "Get accidentally killed by up to three 'friends'"
It happens very easily.
That looks a lot like Diablo 3 actually. I do love the honesty in their marketing though! "Become immersed in a generic fantasy world"
Ive gone back to my all time favorite, Fallout: New Vegas!
In honor of expendables 2 coming out soon, I've made a "Chuck Norris" inspired character called Buck Lorris, whose specialties are hand-to-hand combat, shotguns and having a beard! I've always played sniper in fallout, but Im loving the close quarters combat I get into.
I'm glad I've got all the DLC, since dead moneys gonna be fun as hell, going around with a shotgun, blowing up harvesters and kicking some heads off!
Bit of a change for me here: I've been in deep with L.A. Noire for the past few weeks.
It's a very interesting take on the hardboiled crime drama translated into a game. It's got all the characteristics of a film noir plot-line, which I don't want to spoil (but fans of film noir will understand what I mean). Plus you get to run around in a 1947 version of Los Angeles, when the freeways didn't exist yet and there was still a height limit for buildings, not to mention bowler hats being in fashion at the time.
And believe me, they weren't lying about the facial animation technology they used in the game.
I found that there were too many cutscenes in the game for me to enjoy it. Plus certain parts of the game really drag on. I didn't finish it, because of this.
It is about a 3:1 ratio of cutscenes to actual gameplay, which is very distracting after a while.
The facial animations are some of the best I've ever seen but people behave in very unrealistic ways when they're hiding something during interrogations. I get that it is a game mechanic but sometimes the guy looks like he's twitching and looking off into random directions when he's lying.
Other than Oblivion, I've recently cracked open my old GameCube and started playing one of my all time favourite games! Resident Evil (REmake)!
Amazing game. I remember when I was younger I tried playing it but couldn't finish as it was WAAAAAAY to scary. Haha.
Just finished off Bastion; excellent game, with well put together combat mechanics, brilliant art style and environments and superlative writing that manages to tie together gameplay and story in perfectly. Easily one of the best games I've played, no doubt about that.
I am not playing it now (since it is not out yet), but http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kX9r0S77Vh0 is looking very interesting. I am a huge fan of the original X-Com games, and it looks like they are keeping to the spirit of those, just with a real 3-dimensional environment and better graphics. The only thing that turns me off is that the characters have a kind of cartoonish look to them.
I dusted off my old copies of No One Lives Forever and the Tie Fighter Collectors Edition. I had to find a fan-made installer on the web to get the latter to install on Windows 7. The original installer just won't play with a 64 bit OS. I played out the first mission, and it was a lot of fun. Although I have completely forgotten the myriad of controls you have to use to play that game. I guess I will have to dig out the paper manual for it, it had a keyboard layout in there.
I spent a lot of time playing No One Lives Forever. I was surprised at how good it looks once I got my Nvidia settings to override the ones in the game (It was made before Anti-Aliasing was even an option in games). But the real joy is of course the whole tongue-in-cheek way the game spoofs the whole 60s spy genre. Most especially by having a female protagonist Goddess do I love Cate Archer. I think that once I finish the first one, I will try out the second game, since I never did play it.
BTW. whatever happened to Lithtech? Once upon a time their engine was one of the top gaming engines out there, with only the Quake and Unreal engines as competition. But the company seems to have vanished.
Heh...That's cool, because I've just dusted off my X-Wing novels... ...
Aaaamywho...Due to my current over abundance of energy and inability to concentrate on one thing at a time...
SQUIRREL!!!...
Umm...
I'm playing...
Skyrim...
Kindoms of Amalur: Reckoning...
Assassins Creed II...
And that well known RPG...Madden NFL '10... ...
All of them...At some point or other... ...
I have one of the X-Wing novels - Wedge's Gambit. I read the other two in the trilogy, but borrowed them from friends rather than buy them. That was a long time ago!
I tried Kingdoms of Amalur, but I could not take the controls. It was just too hard to do anything, especially use a bow. So I gave up on it before finishing the tutorial.
http://youtu.be/MOg8Cz9yfWg. But unfortunately you do not get to play her in the game. You are stuck with some sausage instead. I do love the idea of a game set during the American Revolution though.
I'm currently playing Metro 2033 at the minute, which I got as part of the Humble THQ Bundle (a good package, really; you pay however much you think the bundle is woth, and some of the cash goes to two charities, Child's Play and THQ*). It's a fantastic game; excellent atmosphere, intense combat with a strong focus on stealth and planning when it comes to the gunfights (with the mutants, it's more a case of backpedal and shoot whilst trying to avoid getting backed into a corner) and it manages to find a perfect balance between being challenging without being frustrating. It also has an absolutely excellent mechanic with it's use of 'dirty bullets', which are homemade rounds that aren't particularly effective, and the military-grade ones that are far more powerful but are also used as currency; using military rounds might help you in a firefight, but it's certainly an expensive strategy.
*Yeah, I went there.
I've been playing quite a bit if skyrim since the dragonborn DLC came out for Xbox. I also have black ops II, so I've been playing a lot of COD zombies.
Awww...That's just so cuuuute!!... ...
