Here, I have attempted to draw....

Serene! biggrin.gif Happy birthday to your son, Minque, and belated birthday to you! Thank you for your words of kindness and encouragement. You're awesome, Minque! :goodjob:

Now, I hope I have drawn Serene as you have envisioned her to be, a kind and strong woman, so I hope you like it. :embarrassed2: smile.gif

(Please excuse the lightness on the hair and other parts. For some reason, my scanner made the picture look much, much lighter, despite my efforts to darken the lines. )

It's an anime art style. It's what I usually draw. smile.gif Sometimes, I look at game magazines or anime magazines to get some ideas for different eyes/hairstyles/poses/etc. However, for Serene, I used the reference picture in the Introduction thread, as well as my usual anime-style to draw as close to the reference piccy as I can.

The hardest thing to do is to make an older person with my kind of cutesy-anime-artstyle. tongue.gif

EDIT: Thank you, Minque! smile.gif You're sweet, too! biggrin.gif

If I drew her, she would still look a bit younger than she is in the piccy. tongue.gif I'm bad at drawing wrinkles. My older characters just look like 26 or older, but tired looking (bags under their eyes). smile.gif

It's not so much wrinkles as face drooping. If you look at old people you can't really see their jawline anymore.

I'd suggest several books by the author Burne Hogarth: "Drawing the human head", "Dynamic Anatomy", "Dynamic Figure Drawing", "Drawing Dynamic Hands" and "Dynamic Light and Shade". Those are really helpful because you get to know a lot about anatomy and hints on how to draw people. smile.gif That's what I usually look up when I want to know what a certain part of the body looks (or in this case:what the difference between the face of an older and a younger person is)

All I usually need when I draw is my 'How to draw Manga' book, thought it is for Manga, it has much Anatomy about the bodies etc, and how to draw that and that + muscles etc.. :goodjob:

Great drawing MerGirl! I wish I could draw like that. I am running out of inspiration lately on what to make into pictures myself. I hope you don't mind, but I stole your idea to make a pictures of Serene. I based it on the screenshot of her in another thread.

I hope you like it Minque... and if you want me to make any changes just ask.. I can make pretty much any kind of change to it. (ie more muscular.. different colors or clothes or pretty much anything.

Serene in the Ayleid Ruins

Edit: oops... forgot to render it with Shadows on... will repost it when its done rendering.

Here is the one with Shadows on
