The reason you get so many Dragons is that they made each shout require three dragon's souls, so you need to kill a lot of them. To compound the problem, they put way to many shouts into the game, some of which are useless, as a cheap spell is more powerful.

Grrrreat. I suppose most gamers are happy to have dozens of dragons flying around. I can't wait to get Skyrim on PC and dumb this down. :0

In Ravos' game I'm getting so sick of all the dragons... Today I fought three dragons. One I killed in two shots of my bow laugh.gif

An elder dragon is responsible for the death of my 5th horse and I have so many dragon bones/scales it's ridiculous. Ravos never needs the shouts and only uses dragonrend for convenience.

I would rush through the MQ but that's not my way. I'm almost there after about 130 hours but it might take me another 10-15. Hopefully it dies down after that. I actually enjoy the dragon fights but only on occasion...

Wow, 2 shots from a bow, that's all? Interesting.

What sort of perks does Ravos have for Archery?

Have played several iterations of Buffy and have not completed the MQ. The farthest we went was hunting for Esbern down in the Ratway. By that time, Buffy had seen several mammoths killed by random dragons and was not at all happy.

So we did some more study on UESPwiki and discovered something that all of you who have been playing a long time likely already know. Random dragon spwans stop while Delphine's 'kill da dragon' quest is active. While that quest is active, they only spawn and hang out at their dragon walls. That point is also far enough along to render the Dragonborn DLC available. Woot! New Game!

Since then, our pattern is to pick up the horn from Delphine, tell her we don't have time for her nonsense and be on our way.

The thing is, Skyrim is a land rich with the lore of dragons and I like having a FEW dragons in the game. And Buffy, with her hefty magic resistance and powerful bow can kill them just fine as long as she can keep her distance (easy to do). Generally, the Graydudes conclude that, although she may carry the spirit of a dragon (Phantom) within her, Buffy does not carry their blood - she is not dragonborn.

Since progressing the MQ further (even completing it) would only mean plenty of random dragon spawns, it is not likely we'll ever complete it. The exception might be an 'out of body' experience to complete it (just out of curiosity) just before restarting the game anew.

Another way to look at it, I suppose, is this: Buffy's only encounter with Alduin is when he saved her life at Helgen. How does that make him a foe? blink.gif

Buffy's still going to see mammoths die when they discover they can't levitate after all.

My latest character (who's destined to become an NPC in the TG mod) was walking across the tundra west of Whiterun when she saw one drop about 30 feet onto the ground and fall over dead in the distance. This was just at the range where they become visible, so it probably spawned in mid-air and then fell to its death. It's not the first time I've seen this happen, and it doesn't seem to be confined to mammoths, as elk and wolves have done the same. Rabbits may well do it, but you'd never notice them at that distance.

NPC's appear to do the opposite. I've met a few people sunk half-way into the ground, still alive. Embedded creatures always seem to have emulated ostriches and are dead with their heads buried. I've not encountered a mammoth in that position yet.

Back to topic:

Latest character is avoiding walled cities. She did go into Whiterun to deliver a note to Danica for Igrod the younger, as she wanted to buy the land for Windstad Manor, but she hasn't been to Dragonreach. There's a bounty due to her, but she's not collecting it.

I haven't stopped the MQ at Delphine's quest with any of mine. They've either done it all, or stopped much earlier, typically avoiding the need to kill any dragons. Either they want to avoid dragons, or they want to sort out the whole dragon issue properly.

So Buffy is a DragonHaunted, not a Dragonborn. I like that!

I know what you mean about Alduin. He rescues the player at the beginning of the game. He's the last one I would have a beef with!
