If you don't like having to do the Dragonborn mq just to get Solstheim back to normal (and be able to sleep again) - or if you are playing a character who is not the Dagonborn - you can sidestep it by doing the following:
Open the console and type in the following:
I can imagine how many folks will really appreciate this. DB fell so far short in this regard. Forcing the MQ at you instead of allowing the option of simply exploring most of the island. In that regard, DB was a huge step backward from Oblivion's Shivering Isles - at least there, the MQ was unobtrusive enough that you could pretty much ignore it.
To add insult to injury, DB's MQ is. . . disgusting. Buffy tried to complete DB but after about 2/3 of the quest line, simply balked and refused to do any more of what the quest line required. Consort with a disgusting Daedra Lord, betray a whole village of friends? How is all that Dragonbornishly heroic in any way. Grrr. /end rant.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to provide this helpful info.
Thanks for these guidelines, SubRosa, they may prove helpful in the future. I read about the MQ on Solstheim being obtrusive, but I didn't know that it is so obtrusive. Besides, we almost never see Acadian ranting, so it must be really bad. I wonder whether the Daedra Lord in question is yet again Hermaeus Mora who is also involved in the Skyrim's main quest. There you are more or less forced to "work" for him as well, IIRC.
Both Alise and I hated HM in the Skyrim MQ on the first playthrough. So when we avoided the guy after we got the Elder Scroll, and I used the console to drop that quest from Alise's journal on the second playthrough. We didn't meet HM until we hit the DB questline, and there we kept our interactions with him to a minimum.
Thanks, SubRosa, for the batch file. I will have to file that away for the future, maybe with another character. If I bring Julian to Skyrim, she won't be the Dragonborn, that's for sure. Being Akatosh's Chosen is enough! Besides, it would totally break her heart to see what happened to her beloved Blades, not to mention Skyrim, since the Crisis.
This will be so useful when Forrah gets to Solstheim. Thanks!
