Ach, sorry - did a bit of restructuring today *embarraced* But anyhow, here it is - due to the lack of better ideas for a name I call it ReaverEDIT: sadly, the pic you're seeing is not valid any longer, since I've screwed up and didn't back my data properly. Now I'll have to texture the damn thing again from ACAD file and it'll probably look a bit different... at least that's not gone too. EDIT2: Phew! Finished the model again and [slaps his own head] now it is backed up. Changed the straps on grip to leather. This post has been edited by milanius: Oct 22 2006, 02:22 PM

It's a huge dagger, Ibis, and I don't really know what material is that :\ maybe it could be some superpolished black ebony, with the golden knot markings ? Meh, some friends are advising me to make the knots same color/material as the entire knife - I am not sure, though. Now that I have it backed up I'll just fool arround with it a bit.

Hmmmm, those are my exact thoughts - still, I can't make that kind of 'blackness' to FEEL like a metal - instead, it resembles some other material [black volcanic glass, non-translucent? Ebony???] more than it does metal. Like I said, this is one of my more complex things so far, I'll be sure to fool arround with it some more... dialup is a bit*h, but at least it offers me more time offline

Blood, sweat and a [much more than] few tears... that's how I've learned to make NIF's. Model of a dagger for Zarrexaij's upcoming modThe blade in this screenshot is actually the unoptimized version of model which I had to roughen up a bit in order to cut down some 4000 polygons making the blade was much easier, though, than learning how to make it reflexive. Here is how it looks in MORROWIND. If you're interested to learn more, here is the link on Official forums. Zarr and Kikai get all the props. QUOTE(Silmarillion=?? @ Jan 17 2007, 11:17 AM) I'l hope you are going too make a katana some time too
Hmmm. How 'bout a claymore instead? This was a side project, while I was occupied with several other things, including Zarrexaij's dagger; it turned out nice but there are 3 problems I am faced with now: 1. The gloss that has to appear like gold isn't so apparent on the flatter parts of the sword; 2. Textures are lousy and I have to make/find & steal some other for the 'amethyst' parts as well as the blade; 3. Even if this all is done, due to the problems with bump mapping [the absence of it in MW, to be precise] my model was made as complete mesh, once again - and, once again, the poli count is trough the roof... nearly 9300 polygons any attempt to lower the polis resulted in model looking like crap, so it's safe to say that this will overcook your PC if it's not up to par with latest gaming software [luckily, most of you don't have to worry about it]. But aside from all that, it's still one mean mother of a sword, a bit huge even for my taste, but good. Next time I'll really make something less complex, I promise p.s.: Aside from making models and [thankfully now] putting them into MW, I still know nothing about making more complex mods I'll try to learn that too, so that you don't just walk into some cave in Vvardenfell [Cyrodiil?? OB mod, perhaps?] and find it laying on the floor... a hostile NPC wielding it, at least, would be nice. This post has been edited by milanius: Feb 10 2007, 05:02 PM

sorry for the double post, but during a not-so-small break [which got few people worried :\ since I was a dumbass, not saying a thing to anyone] I managed to venture a bit into other things. Results are my first shield and helmet - not very neatly shaped, but decent. High-poli, too... if I manage to make a proper NPC with dialogues and quest, it'll be my first mod. Altmer Artifacts

Oh... thanks. Due to huge lazyness on my behalf I haven't done nothing new in ages -_- but if you're interested in Zarrexaij's mod, it is done and you can get it HERE. [/shameless_advertising]
