These places get destroyed awful fast by you rowdy people... tongue.gif

QUOTE(minque)
This is meant to be a place where you can talk about anything without having to stay on topic. Feel free to ask questions, to talk about the things in your life you like to share with your fellow-members. Or just step inside for a while, have a coffe and a good chat!
You may feel free to post whatever you like as long as it is within the rules of the forum.
But if the conversation degrades to spam, you will be treated as though you are spamming anywhere else on the forum. This is a thread where you can relax and talk about personal things, but it is not to be used as an excuse to make pointless posts.
Please help to keep this alive and well and a place where we can meet and share.
Enjoy your stay here!!!

QUOTE(Alexander)
We had intended the coffee shop to be a nice place where people could talk about their daily activities and such, kinda like the Lurkers Lair on the Official Forums.
It didn't quite turn out that way though, people have been taking advantage of their freedoms in here, there has been a lot of spamming and even some flaming. We will not tolerate that any longer.
So unfortunately we've had to decide to increase the rules for this thread. Of course the normal forum rules still apply, but we'll elaborate here.:
1. No spamming.
We consider double posting and posting posts with only a few words to be spam. If you do that your post will be deleter or moved, do it too often and you might receive a warning for it.
We also consider chit-chat spam. This forum has a special chat channel for chatting, you're welcome to go there, and chat with other members or with the staff as we're always there, doing it in here is not allowed.
The address to that chatroom is:
W4O chat
And for assistence to use a chat like this, I recommend looking over this thread:
http://chorrol.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=248
Or contacting one of the Administrators.
2. No discussion of accounts or warnings.
There shall be no more discussion about members, about accounts, about how many warnings you've gotten or anything like that.
3. No trolling.
No posting of random nonsense, no posting of irrelevant things, no posting the same thing over and over just to get it noticed, no swearing or flaming.
4. No religion or politics.
No discussion about religion or politics is to be had in these threads. If you want to discuss religion or politics, please do make another thread, or if another such thread already exists, please post in it.
If you have a question about the rules of the forums, feel free to ask it to either a Global Moderator or an Administrator.
If you're unsure if something is fit to post here, it might be. Again best to ask a Global Moderator or Administrator.
If you're wondering how we think a Lair or the Coffee Shop should look like, what we do allow, then I recommend taking a look at the Lurkers Lair at the Official Forums.

Sorry. tongue.gif I swear, I did not pull the trigger! At least not that one!

Posted by: minque Aug 19 2007, 08:51 PM

Ha...it was my absence that started the slight anarchy.....at least that is what Iīve heard through the grapevine!

I must confess I haventīt the slightest urge to go to work tomorrow, I just sorta got used to have vacation, these last two weeks have been great, lots of sun, swimming, good food, and relaxation. I want more!

Maybe I should just make a short visit to the Plant in the morning to see that everything is alright...then I could ...sort of decide to get back home....or couldnīt I?

Weīll see.... tongue.gif

Hehe, Ibis, I was going to point out that Keenu Reeves is actually Canadian, and since Canada is currently neutral in this situation, he must return back to his native land and withdraw from your current plans.

You can still use your Johnny Depp navy though.

Cool, goodjob.gif That's one major element out of the way in our plans to defeat Ibis' armed forces!

Ohh don't put on that innocent face now, Milanius. You were part of the rebellion, as I recall. Wasn't he? I think it was the heat rash that had you acting up. Gee Mil, I feel so bad for you about the heat ... especially for your parents.

Let me give you some small comfort in things that we do here in Florida when the heat is inevitable and you've gotta just bear up under it. Especially now, in August - this is our most humid and also hottest time of the year.

One thing to do, no matter where you are - inside or outside - if you have access to ice cubes ... is to apply ice cubes to your wrist vein. Either do it directly by holding it there, or make a little tie-on paper towel or real cloth thingy. Putting the ice directly to your vein can cool down your entire bodily system - although it should be done in increments so your wrist doesn't freeze up.

Sleep/lounge in the hot afternoon ... live your life at night. This is just what ancient Floridians did before air conditioning, like Hemmingway, etc. and many Floridians including ourselves live totally topsy-turvey time schedules in the summer months. Cain and I are usually awake from anywhere from noon to 3pm until around 2-3am in the morining. Then we go to sleep, he often goes to sleep at sunrise but me earlier. We play video games all night basically and wind up having teammates from Germany, Eastern Europe, etc. It's fun.

Also, get the thinnest sheet count or ply of sheets & pillow case that you can find. If you are using an air conditioner .. keep it at a constant setting. But if your bill gets too high, like ours does in August - make it cooler by day and warmer by night, but make the temperature adjustments an hour or two ahead of the actual change in the air ... so you will not tax your air conditioner with this process. Also, use electric fans to help the air conditioning circulate evenly around the room; this can help the bill be cheaper alot. Totally close off any rooms that you do not need from the cooling process. We have a clear plastic drop cloth sealing off our bathroom because it doesn't need to be air conditioned.

Just move and do everything slower and anything that is not of top priority ... don't do at all. Yes, we Floridians look lazy to the outside eye, particularly to tourists ... but we are actually conserving energy for the things in life that matter. End of sentence ...

Only wear cotton and loose clothing and cover up from the sun. Sun is the worst enemy here and real Floridians are pale and youthful looking .... not all tanned like wrinkly leather, those are the tourists who forgot to go home.

Drink lots of liquids of a non=alcoholic type ... our standard drink here is iced tea. We probably have more brands and flavors of iced tea that anywhere in the world, even Texas. Go to the bathroom alot because of it and you are flushing bad stuff out of your system too. Alcoholic beverages inflate your blood vessels and can actually make you feel the heat more .. so don't get drunk in the hottest part of the day.

That's all I can think of now. You probably knew all of this already cause it's mostly common sense .. but it doesn't hurt to be reminded.

+++++++++++++++++++

I apologize for the exceptionally long post, but while I was commiserating with Milanius about the heat, forces were gathering against me behind my back.

Let me just make the proclamation .... KEANU REEVES WILL LEAVE MY ARMED FORCES OVER MY DEAD, FEATHER BEDRAGGLED, LIMP, WET BODY ... which is never going to happen because I am a BIRD GODDESS. I will keep my KEANUs forever!!!!!!!

ps-Jack Cloudy, I will buy the first option -Buster Machine number 3: Egg-shaped weapon bigger than a smal planet .. I have your septims waiting.

Dang, why don't defenders ever surrender to avoid the inevitable damage to what they're trying to protect in a long, costly campiegn? They have to make everything an absolute: win or die trying..... but then when they win everything is blown to tiny bits and smoking rubble.

Now there are exceptions to that general outcome, but this is the modern era, where a single ICBM can ravage a small country/state/province. I guess people can just be stubborn, hyper-competitive, steel-for-brains fanatics....... I'm occassionally on of the middle, but I can blame Dantrag for getting me into this war..... He's a fine example, sometimes. devilsmile.gif

It flooded out here a little bit. Not as much as Watunga and Kingfisher. Everytime something happens weatherwise in this state, they get raped. ice storms, floods, tornados, you name it. I really hope it doesn't rain any more, because I want to go to school tomorrow (especially at the community college, which is pretty close to the river).

My internet connection is crap. Booo 56k. 28.8K right now. XD

I bought new speakers today so I can start playing Alien versus Predator 2 online. I found two people to play with, and I'm hoping to hear from a friend in my CIS community college class. I can't remember if he said he had the first or second one. That is, if I can yank him away from the current online game that has him addicted.

Everyone and their mom was at Walmart. Gaaaaah. And I couldn't find a pencil holder to put in my binder for Spanish II.

Ibis, Pisces, you both realise, of course, that once your forces have exhausted themselves against each other the Irish will sweep in and conquer you both, right?

It's weird to hear about all the heat problems elsewhere because for the last little while, things have been starting to cool down around here nicely, though it does make campfires a little less enjoyable. Which I like because the sun isn't a huge fan of me. He tends to burn me so I just try to avoid him as much as possible.

I would pass this weather to you milanius if I could but I don't think it'll make the trip across the Atlantic. Sorry buddy.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 20 2007, 12:25 AM

Yeah, the sun likes doing that to me, too. I've gotten second degree burns from the sun. Took forever to heal. Curse you, mideval fair!

Luckily, last time I went I brought sunscreen. Yeah, I smartened up.

I just got the Irish genes for my skin.

sad.gif crap, can't have nice milky white skin AND sun resistance all at once.

I tend to burn a bit, it's no biggy though. After several days, redishness blends into tan, but I still prefer to lurk in shadows. Right now, only things tanned on me are my neck and arms up to elbows [since I worked few months ago during another epic village saga].

I've got Pacific Islander genes: natural tan and I've never had a sunburn in my life (at least not a borderline uncomfortable one). I love my genetics, biggrin.gif

Pale complexion = <3

I'm somewhere beneath Mediterranean bronze average; unless I tan, I'm quite pale by this country's standards. They said it was anemia when I was young indifferent.gif bah...

In any case, good night to all, especially the pale skinned demi-Irish biggrin.gif

Posted by: canis216 Aug 20 2007, 02:04 AM

Seeing as how I spent the summer working and living in the outdoors, I'm pretty tan right now. Which is fine by me.

I've got some Scottish heritage, so my skin is naturally a bit pale, but I'm really active so it usually has some color.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 20 2007, 02:10 AM

It's my Scottish background that gave me my complexion. The German aspect probably doesn't help either....

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 20 2007, 02:15 AM

You're acting like being pale is necessarily a bad thing... tongue.gif

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 20 2007, 02:20 AM

Haha, no, that wasn't what I was insinuating. I enjoy my paleness. I like having "whose more white" competitions with my friends. Rarely do I lose biggrin.gif

Posted by: canis216 Aug 20 2007, 02:47 AM

See, I look better when I'm tanned. The freckles don't stand out in such relief.

Posted by: Ibis Aug 20 2007, 05:08 AM

I am quite pale even by native Floridian standards and Cain is even paler. He did have anemia and pneumonia as a child and his skin is also almost translucent. He won't go barechested even swimming publicly because on his chest and arms you can see ALL the blue veins right under his skin .. the big ones and even the small spider-webby ones ... and frankly, it freaks some people out pretty bad. His friends were telling some girls he was an alien once at the guy's backyard pool and I think the girls were half believing it. Outer space alien, not different country ... but young florida ladies will believe most anything, they've kind of seen it all by age fourteen or so around here.

But Cain also has dark brown eyes and brown hair, I think the contrast makes his skin look even paler. I am not as pale as him but I have dark-blondish hair and bue eyes .. so I am expected to have lighter skin. We both are taken to be much younger than we actually are, so I think it wise to stay out of the sun if you don't want to age too fast in appearance.

Now ... the reason we act so childish - that is a whole different story. laugh.gif

Posted by: jack cloudy Aug 20 2007, 08:07 AM

I'm pale. Yup, as if I'm a vampire who spent just a tad too many nights in his coffin. tongue.gif

Now back to being pale. It's not really too palish skin that I have so much as it's way whiter than everyone else in my wider family, with the noble exception of my sister [you're not getting photos, bastards, if you're not a bachelor and have yearly income that's at least 6 figures in some hard currency]. I like the Gundam series (Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed being my favorites). The inspiration from those TV shows, Lost Planet, and Armored Core4 (Xbox-360 video games with giant robot gameplay) gave me a base for the 885th Legion in my Fan-Fiction....... Hunter-Seekers and Specters were inspired by CAC 3. biggrin.gif

Posted by: jack cloudy Aug 20 2007, 06:40 PM

I've seen a bit of Gundam Seed and Wing. Wing I frankly found a bit boring. There was this cool dude who survived a no-parachute drop from the 50th floor (and a cliff!). He was awesome but the rest I found disappointing. And the story didn't quite have it for me. My other favourite character there was the guy with the braided hair and the scythe using gundam. Least favourite. The girl.

Seed wasn't quite my thing either. Kira and Asran annoyed the heck out of me. Like gosh, can't they ever bring up different arguments after their half a dozen duels? And the battleship was too damn invincible. I did like the blond pilot fella though.

I've seen quite a bit of Super Robot wars (both Divine wars and the OVA. I preferred Divine wars, the OVA was too much 'watch Kyosuke kick behind in his invulnerable Alt-Eisen Riese). I hope I come across the last five episodes someday. I want to see SRX! tongue.gif

Other than that, I've been following Gundam Seed Destiny for a while. I absolutely hate Shinn (red-eyed Asran, only ten times as annoying.)
I also hate (in no order of preference)
The military girl with the pink skirt. Geez, what's with the constant Asran chasing?
The fake Lacus with the awfull dress that looks like it should fall down her legs whenever she breathes. She's like, another Asran nut and just plain annoying. By the way, is Asran a girl magnet or something?
Cagalli. Ok, you run onto a battlefield and think that everyone will just drop their guns and have a picnic together just because you order them? Geez, if Kira wasn't around to shoot down a missile swarm you would be swiss cheese by now.
The first officer. You look nice, but you should try to say something else than: ,,What?!" Talk about a limited vocabulary.

That said, I do happen to like Kira more now. Sure, he takes out all the tension but it is just cool to see some guy go uber and take out like 30+ grunts in less than a minute without killing anyone, just chopping and shooting off limbs everywhere. Also, Freedom has way too many guns. cool.gif

So let's go with another list. Cool dudes this time. Sorry, but I haven't come across a cool female yet. Though Lacus is nice. Probably the only one who doesn't shout and scream and chase guys all the time. If everyone was so calm, the world would be a better place. Ok, the list.

Masked dude: Dang man, that's a cool mask. Too bad you exchanged your badass fighter for a repainted grunt mech. You rocked in that thing.
The scarred fella with one eye. He's got a prostethic arm with a gun mounted inside! cool.gif

Wow, short list. Ok, another one. Cool mecha!

Freedom: I dig those guns man.

Zakus: They're cool, but their pilots suck.

The grunt mechs that constantly attack the Minerva: They look like a cheap gundam. But their pilots should really learn that flying in formation in a straight line is not how you should fly on a battlefield. Even Shinn can take them down like flies.

Saviour: Pretty cool, but Asran can't bring out the best of it. Also, it got chopped up by Freedom. The lesson? Don't mess with Freedom. nono.gif

Gaia: Out of the stolen ones, this is the coolest. Too bad it can't fly and is piloted by a split personality lunatic.

The fighter the masked dude uses in the first few episodes: Detachable gunpods, yeah baby!

Impulse: You're quite cool but you're piloted by the most annoying dude ever (Shinn). Also, can Shinn pull of a single launch without his stupid barrel roll? Even when he was ferrying a dying person (Gaia's lunatic), he had to do a few barrel rolls first! Idiot!

Archangel: A sub, a spaceship and Freedom's carrier? Nice.

Minerva: Cool guns, but I don't like the launch deck for Impulse and the stupid 'bridge on an elevator'. I mean, I know that you want to be able to move your bridge away from those huge windows and into a more secured position, but you shouldn't have windows in the first place. Also, how secured is your secured position if even there you have windows? I mean, do you like it to have an enemy hover and point a gun at the ship, effectively taking your whole warship hostage? (Which reminds me, why do those cool guns stop firing all of a sudden when the hostage situation occurs?)

Posted by: Gaius Maximus Aug 20 2007, 07:54 PM

Gack, the unknown-thing-ness! The mech-discussion-ness! The... oh, you get it.

But anyway, if talking about mechs, then there was this whole cool happening in Warhammer 40k: Fire Warrior that involved not quite mechs, but half-mech people.

I was playing as a Fire Warrior (No, duh!) La'Kais, and had to rescue some general guy of our army (The Tau Empire). Well, nothing easier, run through a huge open space while being shot at from a huge aircraft, dive down into a passage, get shot at, then free this guy.

So ok, I run out into a massive area where a cutscene shows my guy attempting to free the general guy (I was looking somewhat like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/15/Taubox.jpg, only lots cooler, since it was in-game and these are collectibles), only to be cut off by two Ultramarines, my first face-off against the dreaded guys. For comparison, take their http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/32/Warhammer40kUltramarine.JPG. They all look pretty much like that, sized like one Fire Warrior and half, only they wear those helmets that look 10 times better than mine (Come to think, my helmet looks like a... well, you know what I mean.). Pretty equal fight, huh? Plus, they were carrying like the friggin' best weapons I've yet seen. Was pretty good for them, until I didn't blast their whole suits offline along with them. biggrin.gif

And then I thought they were scary. But yet to come were Chaos Marines, these guys make no sense, popping out of nowhere with their fancy-pants grenade launchers...

Posted by: jack cloudy Aug 20 2007, 08:35 PM

Sounds like you had some fun. I assume that the game is some sort of first/third person shooter?

I've got tons of favourite mechs.
Vampire: General soldier machine. Only limited flight, but comes with a wide variety of guns, grenades and perhaps a chainsaw.
Vampire MK-II: Basically the same thing, only better.
Zephyr: Full flight, twin gravity compression swords (swinging miniature black holes for melee? Yup), several guns and transformable into a fighter.
Silberfeder: Actually a civilian showmodel. Designed for a dancing contest (yes, dancing giant robots.), but it can also fly real fast.
Silberschwert: Same propulsion system as the Silberfeder and that's where similarities end. This is a close-combat model, complete with huge blade on head.
Soldares Infini: Over a hundred metres tall, and just as uber as its height suggests.
Eve: Ok, this is actually an alien but it looks like a mech.

Now don't bother looking on the net. They're all my creations and I have yet to model them. Except for the Soldares Infini, I haven't even begun on them yet. tongue.gif

For the Sol Infini, go here: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3d-wips/28000-super-robot-soldares.html

Yeah, I'm mean. Ok, for existing ones, I'd say Cybuster is hot. Or Freedom.

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 20 2007, 08:45 PM

Hey, Jack, could you ever try and make a model/render for somr of my mechs. Just asking, it would be cool to see them in 3D (I can't even draw them in 2D if I wanted to).

Posted by: jack cloudy Aug 20 2007, 08:47 PM

I would love to. I do need tons of information though. Thruster placement, thruster style, guns, things like that. Pm me anytime you like. smile.gif

Posted by: Gaius Maximus Aug 20 2007, 08:59 PM

Yep, it's a 1st person shooter (it's equally fun with Halo, due to both being good games where enemies have an actual AI) with my armor suit being shown in several cutscenes. It's taking place in Warhammer Universe, at the Tau invasion of Earth (Tau being the most advanced ranged fighters, I love their rifles) which was in response to whatever Imperium of Man did to Tau. I think it was capture of one of the spaceships, or leaders.

By the end, the Tau and Imperium got allied, and I've heard rumors my char will get to fight a Chaos Prince aided by the commander of Ultramarines (Oh, that'd be AWESOME!), but for now, I'm pretty much stuck: the http://www.nucleus.com/~richdesn/Crossfire/artgallery/chaossm.jpg (Couldn't pick up a screenshot of them in-game, but they look pretty much like that, minus the helmet with horns - they've got a deeper-reddish armor, and a helmet that's as spiky as the rest of their armor) are blocking my way, and the only thing they carry are the stupid grenade launchers that take down half my health, but aren't of much use due to the teleporting abbility of Chaos Marines. Dang their powers... I can't get past the destroying of the main engine of the Human Spaceship, due to the fact that they keep spawning behind my back when I try to make haste.

EDIT: Okay, all this Warhammer 40k discussion made me want to write a fanfic about it. Knowing me, I'll probably do it... which forum would be the most suitable for it? The Fan Fiction one, I guess?

I wonder when the next person will drop AP Calculus. XD

I had six problems to do in AP Calc. Easy stuff. Rational functions are sorta fun, with the aymptotes and all...

The only homework I really had was stuff for AP Studio Art so I could get it finished ahead of time.

There's this guy in my CIS class. He's shorter than me. I just want to go up to him and snuggle him. XD

Okay, well, I'll open the contest back up. It was cancelled, a few days ago, but I'll open it back up. We'll still need some other entries, so if you know anybody else who would be willing to participate, please direct them here. Thanks Ibis!

Hear ye all you writers of Chorrol. Septim has reopened the writing contest I announced earlier in this coffeeshop thread - because of you'alls interest and some other people over at his site who do want to particitpate.

So here again iis the website url = http://z6.invisionfree.com/Septim741/index.php?showtopic=272

I'll try and PM you tomorow, but it will be basic stuff. I've been trying to find screenshots of the various things that are similar to the Legionnaires, but it's proving harder than I first thought.

I'm having mah coffee right now, and remixed PRODIGY is blasting away at me. Everything is neat at this moment, even the air is breathable... why the hell am I so depressed emotastic then?

God, quit taunting me with hot redheaded goth twins.

They're a little tall for my liking though, but damn. You're just mean, God.

Seems you and the big man upstairs need to have a heart to heart Z.

So you are taking AP Calc, my my, free money for you! Remember, go to college and use your skills, you are smart....cure cancer or something.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 22 2007, 12:41 AM

Yeah, I figure. It's also long overdue too.

I'm going to college for Computer Science and Psychology. If I don't want to do psychology, I can always go into programming/"computer engineering."

Excuse me future engineers, but that name is just retarded. It's programming and design, not computer engineering. Computer engineering sounds a lot different than it actually is.

Posted by: Priest of Sithis Aug 22 2007, 12:49 AM

Well, at least you know which direction the future is going, I had a teacher tell me senior year to take a semester of Literature Developement which was basically, writing a bunch of stuff down, filing it, and learning about how to better your own writing and boring stuff, seriously, we sat in a small room and wrote. Nothing else. Suicide was my next choice but luckily, they had Coed Sports, so I took that.

Z, so you are taking Psycology, What is my "mental condition" if I kill people that annoy me and feel no regret lol?

Posted by: Ibis Aug 22 2007, 02:41 AM

I am no psychologist but you sound like Morag Tong to me. blink.gif

Zarr, Computer Design is very hot now. We have Full Sail Media School in our area and it is ranked among the top 5 media schools in the world and believe me, those grads are getting the jobs to kill for!

Nawwh, that's the Dark Brotherhood.

I have four chapters left in my A+ Certification book, so it won't be long before I'm taking my A+ Certification test. Then off to the Network book... blerghy. Man, won't I look smart with those two certifications with my high school diploma. tongue.gif

Oh damn, I'm paying for that party I went to now. Soooo tired due to lack of sleep and I got a terrible taste in my mouth that doesn't seem to want to go away even after brushing my teeth. Fortunately my stomach doesn't feel absolutely terrible...

Overall though, I had fun last night. My friend threw a party for all those leaving town to go to college/university, so I was one of the guests of honour. Basically that means I got free booze and someone made these giant cards/autograph book and everybody that was there signed it, some of which were amusingly inappropriate.

It's cool to have friends that do these kind of things for you.

Posted by: milanius Aug 23 2007, 12:54 AM

Sithis: As a layman, I'd say your condition can be summed by a technical phrase "****ed up, LOL!"

Zarr: Worldfull of envy here, dear, since A+ was something I always wanted to take. Not gonna happen, though... but 'ey, we can't all be smart? wink.gif

Mallet: Mouthwash only [emergency procedure], then LOTS of yogurt, but only regular one, in the morning. Yogurt does miracles with hangovers.

Mil: You silly sod, getting sad over a videogame and its characters... so what if it's Silent Hill! *slaps himself*

edit:
Zarr's Internet: BEHAVE AND STAY ABOVE 12kbps OR I'M SO COMING OVER TO KICK YOUR DONKEY! That is all, good night.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 01:08 AM

Dammit, the guy who was supposed to show up for my dedicated server test on AvP2 online never showed. Dammit.

Today was good, I suppose. Not looking forward to tomorrow's one hour lunch. That lasts for-ev-er, not to mention the eight classes make it feel like I get out of school at 6.

I hate my Spanish II class. Can we get to work already? Yeah, I'm bored with that class. Sue me.

Hey, I actually sat with someone for lunch today. I got tired of being alone.

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 24 2007, 01:22 AM

My two-year Spanish course in school is the easiest class I have. No homework, I'm one of the best students (I pay attention and remember 98% of the things our teacher tells us). Most of the other students get bored and resort to argueing with each other and falling backwards on their chairs, etc.

In essense, I'm one of the few who strives to learn something. biggrin.gif Btw, schools starts next week for me! *Smug* happy.gif

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 24 2007, 01:30 AM

It just dawned on me that I'll be moving out of my house and living on my own (basically) in less than 2 weeks... Man that came up fast. Ohwell, I think I will be prepared. Just sucks that I'll have to be attending college AND working at the same time, but I gotta pay for rent so that's the way it goes.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 01:30 AM

Can I trade you Spanish classes? 'Cause mine sucks really hard.

Apparently my ex-boyfriend is a hero to the guys I hang out with during lunch. "Narcolepsy dude" lawl.

I had an interesting discussion today. We played spot the emokid, and my friend said "You mean the two gingerkids who are always together, the ones with the weird haircuts?" I replied, "No, they're goth." He asked, "Are they gay or brothers or something, because they're always together..." I answered, "Uhh... they're both redheaded, they're both the same height, they look almost exactly alike I'm pretty sure they're brothers but I guess they could be incestuous brothers.... speaking of which, you don't see many ginger goths."

Man the conversations I get into.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 24 2007, 01:31 AM

Well gingers at least don't have to wear makeup to appear pale. They're just naturally like that.

Wouldn't red go well with black? You'd think there would be more red headed goths then...

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 01:35 AM

You would think so, yes. Red goes go well with black, but you just don't see very many ginger goths for some reason.

I want to touch the ginger goth brother's hair, the one with the mohawk. His hair looks soft. If I can talk to my former geometry teacher (!finally!) I can touch a redheaded goth's hair, even if he doesn't like it. >:D

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 24 2007, 01:44 AM

Haha, go for it. You could make a stealth mission out of it.

Speaking of soft hair, yours truly has often heard surprised remarks about how soft his hair is from those of the opposite sex. I usually don't have stuff in it in, so some of them like to run their fingers through it. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 01:51 AM

Ooh! Does that make me a seeeecret agent woooman?

I've wanted to introduce myself to him. He looks pretty interesting, and I'm hoping he's as intelligent as he looks. Looks cynical and snarky though, but I'm the same way so it's alllll good.

I just wish he wasn't so tall... normally chicks are attracted to tall guys. I'm an exception. I prefer guys closer to my height because they bring me more comfort. I just don't trust taller guys as much because of deeply seated issues I'd rather not speak about. But he looks very interesting, and he's attractive, so he could be an exception to my rule.

Edit: Why in the world is my avatar being stretched to 90 by 90? It's 90 by 70, it fits within the limits....

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 24 2007, 03:13 AM

When I got my black hair cut short (shorter than I normally keep it, so about buzz-cut short) these two girls I know kept trying to touch it. I've also seen different girls and a different guy in the same situation, it was amusing to watch him have the same awkward reaction that I did.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 03:16 AM

Yeah, I used to have random people touch my hair because a chick in my Creative Writing class (sophmore year) touched my hair.

The word got out my hair was softer than bunny fur. >_<

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 24 2007, 03:27 AM

Well, the moral for me is not to cut my hair really short again. The less people touching my hair (boys and girls, but girls a little more) the better. Most of the guys at middle school have girl friends already, and don't understand why I want to wait until college (or after that).

Still, since my cousin backs me up on not dating until, at least, high school (which he is) I am firm in my stance on dating or not. *I've gotten notes in my locker.... never answered them though* There's also a mexican kid in my spanish class who talks like he's a pimp. tongue.gif

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 24 2007, 03:30 AM

I dated my ex for four years and I've yet to regret it. You might find someone who changes your mind.

Nah, I won't touch his hair until I get to know him. At least then I'm less likely to get a restraining order. tongue.gif

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 24 2007, 03:36 AM

Yeah, the first part went without saying, but I haven't found her yet. Still, it doesn't stop some guys from thinking I'm wierd because I don't date girls yet, and all of my friends are other boys (some could be described as somewhat mal-adjusted).

The girls I know aren't the type I would have at my house or spend thirty minutes talking to in many different kinds of circumstances. So I don't have any personal friends who are girls.

Posted by: Priest of Sithis Aug 24 2007, 04:27 AM

Hey man, in the words of the immortal Priest, (lol)

Girls are girls man, and guys are guys. Girls like guys, and guys like girls. That's it.

Haw haw, what a worthless quote, the Priest could definately come up with something better, if he was better,...

But on a serious note, that is very respectable that you are looking for your match. Personally, I haven't had a girlfriend yet that can take my sacarsm and general laziness, but hey, there's one out there. I don't think you are weird if that counts. Also, she's out there, keep looking!

Good luck! Hopefully you won't need it.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Aug 24 2007, 05:43 AM

Well currently I don't feel like looking for someone since the only people I know right now are local people, and since I'm less than 2 weeks from moving out of town; getting into a relationship with someone around here seems a bit pointless. But I'm moving to the big city now! The sea has gotten bigger I guess tongue.gif

Usually I think it's my approach of trying to woo woman that doesn't work out too well. See, I don't want to start dating a stranger, so I attempt to befriend a person first. When that happens I turn out to be too much of a friend, and not enough of a person that they might be interesting into going to the next level with. C'est la vie...

Pseudoincestual Ginger Brother No.1: " o_O ...okay."
*mission accomplished*

See?

...
It's hot as ever. It's more like actual [and not just emotional] desert right now. I'm locked up in this safehouse I call home and soon, there will be more coffee ahead. <3

On a side note one of our cousins from Canada [he lives in Markham, not too far away from my sis] visited us briefly and we talked for few hours about him, his family and Sale [short for Aleksandra, my sister's name]. Whenever I hear how hard she has it there, I get gloomy. She is on welfare now and has to choose between 2 trainings in near future: either go to community college and earn a degree to be a teacher [she has Masters in mechanical engineering, so that's a plus], or train to be ECG nurse [pros - less time in training, less money needed, has reasonable job perspective; cons - no real connection to anything she has done before and she likes teaching more, in any case].
But it's her life, her choices too, and I can't eat myself because of it. Or, can I?
Bah.

Posted by: Ibis Aug 24 2007, 07:52 PM

Milanius, so your sister is in Canada, do you have a sister at home as well or is she the one that you refer to occassionally?

Metal Mallet, I had to work my way through college, I didn't actually finish but that was because of a boyfriend problem, pretty stupid now looking back on it .. I should have concentrated on school, the guy is longgone. But, it wasn't that bad since I just had a part time job at the university health center.

Zarr, you are so shy/bold and cute .. I think that you should just go for it and introduce yourself to this tall goth twin. And think, you could wear very high heels or wedge shoes and still be shorter than him. That may make you more comfortable to be nearer his height.

As for redhaired goths ... we've got scads of them down here in florida. We have a major branch of the Paul Mitchell Hairstyle School right in our neighborhood and so we see all the hairdos you could imagine. Pink, purple, green and even an attempt at plaid .. (looked awful.) Also lots of different makeup looks and dark blue, purple, green nail polish. I myself wear white nails, white lipstick and white mascara with lavender eyelids = angel goth.

Lots of peircings and tats too .. but the thing that gets me about these florida goths is that they let themselves get too tan. It just doesn't look as authentic to see freckles/brown skin instead of the traditional pale. Some of them stay true to the lunar complexion .. glowy and pale.

Well, I brought up Mass Effect and Halo 3 in an earlier coffee shop, but got favorable responses for neither. Well, now that their almost complete in terms of development and their shipping soon, I'll bring them up again.

Bungie has confirmed these features for Halo 3-

-playbacks of multiplayer battles and campiegn missions (from all player's prospectives, and any angle).
-the return of the assualt rifle and the flamethrower.
-the existance of two new grenades (you can hold all four kinds, but only two each).
- four player co-op mode for campiegn
-unprecedented AI sophistication (i.e: "Brute Pack behavior" and Scarab battle)
-new UNSC ATV, "troop carrier" version of the Warthog, and Brute ghost
-wieldable turrets (rip them off of their emplacements and rampage with them
-different armor designs for use in multiplayer

[I'm probably missing two or three]
But I'll post a link to http://masseffect.bioware.com/

Btw, The Last Legion and Bourne Ultimatum were great movies! biggrin.gif

I paint a homemade card with watercolors for my Dad, and he loves it; no matter how good or bad it actually looks. lol

This year I was way out of practice due to the fact that there's been an incessant drip from the air conditioner duct which is directly over my art area (the landlord fixed it now.) But I painted a rendition of our pool by the lake with me swimming in it and Cain as lifeguard under an umbrella chair .. and he loved it.

It was quite babyish but he termed it ultra-modern style. tahaha! (parents = we've really got them wrapped around our little fingers, don't we?)

Rest o' the day was a slightly moderate disaster. I'll just say we have to call our plumber again tomorrow, since he screwed up today.

In other news, my hands now smell of pig blood and no amount of rinsing with soap can help. Me, paps and my uncle chopped up 3 little piggies he [uncle] slaughtered earlier today into quarters. One pig is for us, 2 are for someone else. Not particularly pleasant job, but someone has to do it.

Why is it that the people who would make the worst parents always are parents?

Posted by: Lord Revan Aug 29 2007, 12:54 AM

Maybe because they nurse the bad habits that make them bad parents in the first place...... In more than a few cases.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 29 2007, 12:57 AM

I'm tagging the daywalkers in the morning.

You know, I think you're right.

Remind me never to have brats kids until I can afford it i.e. out of college with a good-paying job with all debt paid.

Truth is, some people don't PLAN or even THINK but they still go and have kids which then endure crap in their lives.
Sure, I am getting loads of bull every now & then for being 30 & single, without a family of my own, but I know that with this level of maturity and being an economic ruin I'd be a terrible father. I would have doomed my children to same conditions I had and I don't want that. Dear Cas, stick to your plan since it's the only smart thing to do.

...
In 30 minutes I'm of to this tiny local TV station that needs junior video-editor[s]... fact that one of their PC's hard drives is infected and the guy who worked there called me this morning to ask ME if I have any antiviral programs available made me go O_o these people aren't serious at all, but I reckon I'd need every bit of experience I can get. Oh well.

dear god, they HAD Avast! Home edition, but they didn't know how to update the expired license for another year. In the meantime, their office PC got so infected that format & Windows reinstall is only real solution.

It remains to be seen [and I need to be contacted, obviously tomorrow since they didn't call today] whether they would want me to go trough 2-week crash course in editing [since I never worked with certain programs] or they'll seek someone else. Sweet Hesus, I love this country. It's so Chaotic and Neutral. <3 <3 <3

Damn daywalkers. I saw them in the morning, but they went away from me. ;_;

That's it. I'm getting them tomorrow. I heard at least one of them goes out to lunch, so... damn. I guess I'll have to hunt them down next morning.

Today I intentionally wore all black, fixed my hair so I'd have bangs over my eyes, and put on some black eyeliner. Guess how many people realized that? One person. I did this on purpose to for reactions. Damn.

Posted by: Ibis Aug 30 2007, 12:41 AM

Ooohh, I think you'd look so pretty like that Zarr. See, I noticed. You have the neatest sweetheart shaped face. I wish I could draw it and give you bangs and black eye liner, but my scanner doesn't work with w2k and I'd never be able to pull it off in Paint.

HEAR YEE ... HEAR YE!! I am once again appealing to the excellent writers here at Chorrol. I know you guys are great because I've read some of the stories. The Dungeon Writing contest at http://z6.invisionfree.com/Septim741/index.php?showtopic=473&st=0#entry8040571 is still open until August 31st.

I know that doesn't give all that much time, but you guys are so good - I know alot of you could pull it off. The dungeon just need be eiither a cave, a ruins or an old fort and the monsters in it should be native to Oblivion. Other than that you are free to make up what you will. The winner's dungeon will be built into the present main mod that is being worked on by Septim and crew.

The reason why no one at his own site has entered the contest is that they are all involved in various stages of modding. So ... as it turns out, yours truly is the one entrant into the dugeon contest. While I wouldn't mind winning by default; I made a fatal error, I included a dragon in my dungeon tale - a wee small one mind you that could almost pass for a lizard, but a dragon none the less. And dragons are not native to Oblivion .. not without Akatosh. But they don't want to give advantage over other writers to anyone, sp they will not be adding mods to accomodate the dungeon contest winning entry.

That means that possibly = no one will win the contest and the mod will have a huge void where the winning dungeon was supposed to be featured. So, you guys are talented writers and I think can see a plum for the picking when you see one. Enough said. wink.gif

I wish my ex would stop making me miserable. I love him very much, and I did not want to separate, but it was a mutual agreement. We thought it would be best for each other. He's acting all miserable and pissed off, and he's squashing my feelings in the process.

I just wish he would realize that he is my best friend and I love him more than anything.

Posted by: Priest of Sithis Aug 30 2007, 02:53 AM

From a male standpoint, he may still have feelings for you...

Also, what bugs guys the most, If you want to get him back for bugging you, is the pursuit of other male species. That will drive him bonkers. Many a time i watch in submission as a ex does her number on the halfwits all around me. Damnation!

Posted by: Ibis Aug 30 2007, 07:11 AM

My my priest, did it never occur to you that maybe they are doing it for the effect it will have on you? Perhaps they are trying to make you jealous. Especially if the guy really is a half wit.

I returned from a combined business and pleasure trip to Munich on Tuesday.

First I, my father, his wife, my sister and my niece went to a little remote village near Munich to visit the family of my uncle (they have six children!). My second oldest cousin there is getting married and we were attending the traditional festivities that celebrate an upcoming wedding in a smaller circle some time before the actual wedding. This type of event is called "Polterabend" and as the name suggests it has something to do with "Poltergeist", which is supposedly driven away by smashing endless amounts of table ware on the ground which the happy couple-to-be then has to clean up - and just when they think they're done someone smashes some more!

I hadn't seen my people there for at least 10 years which was way too long a time and it was really great. All our cousins are now grown up and it was really cool to hear about how and what they're doing now.

After that I went to Munich for the business part which luckily was short and relatively painless. I even got to eat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weisswurst for breakfast in the hotel, so it was all good.

Posted by: minque Aug 30 2007, 07:43 PM

Ha! Stargie, that sounds just great! So did you smash a lot of tableware then? But hmmm weisswurst? My son had Nürnberger bratwurst for breakfast the other day.....ach....he likes the stuff....I canīt say I do actually!

Anyway I had a gret time in Germany during my vacation, lots of sun, swimming, beer, and great food...yummy! It was too short of course, I could have stayed longer...

But Iīll soon be off to Germany again....on business to Erlangen...oh aye itīs bavaria alright, but Iīll see to avoid too much bratwurst! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: Zarrexaij Aug 31 2007, 12:07 AM

Apparently my ex boyfriend is having trouble fitting in at college... he's walking in on people giggling and talking and they stop and look shocked when he enters the room. Poor guy is being talked to behind his back and I'm not there to kick their asses.

I STILL NEED TO TAG THE DAYWALKERS. Damn you ginger goth kids! I'll stop them in the morning, even if they hate me for it. Do I care? HELL NO! I will Zarrify them.

I had a wonderful day. I <3 my votech class.

If I can call the attractive one Sheogorath, then I can be an uncle even though I lack male genitalia.

Posted by: Priest of Sithis Aug 31 2007, 05:09 AM

You know, there are certain procedures that, for a fee, add certain desirables from the opposite gender. You would just have to live in a country that cares little about this for the surgery.

Anyways, why Sheogorath? I heard that the ginger kids have no souls....

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 1 2007, 12:24 AM

You're talking to someone whose nickname is Super Ginger (take a guess why). And Sheogorath? Because Sheogorath is awesome.

I managed to tag the daywalkers today, by the way. +125 points. I win.

I had such crappy sleep last night.... 12-something, maybe 1 when I feel asleep. I woke up at 5 too. Today was pretty good though. Now I just have to talk to them....

I lack people skills. I'm a nerd, so sue me.

Yep yep, soy milk instead, it has lots of protein so acts as a sticker-togetherer like eggs, a bit too well sometimes. I'm still mastering the recipe...or lack of one, they are good, better than cookies bought from a package, but not exceptional, chocolate chip cookies should cause orgasms in women.

Greetings from my new home for college! It's been a looong day for me so far, I was up at 8:30 in the morning and it's about 2:30 in the morning now. Currently I'm stuck using a laptop with Windows Vista (it makes things sloooow so far) so I'm stuck using the touchpad as a mouse until I decided to buy an external mouse (which will likely be after I wake up, going to bed shortly).

All's seems well, though I have a lot of boxes I need to get rid of. Toronto looks like a busy place so far, there's certainly a lot of conveniently placed stores/facilities nearby. I gotta go hand in a resume tomorrow, I need to work while I'm going to school in order to pay for rent and tuition and food and whatnot.

Anyways, I should be able to keep in contact with you peeps, got a nice internet connection setup at my residence. Hopefully college homework mixed with time working won't take too much of my time away from here...

Heylo Malletman! Toronto, as my sis tells me, is a big ole hive, but a very interesting and activity-packed hive.
There is one advice she gave me, from her own experience; watch what concerts are coming up in TO and ALWAYS book your ticket in advance because most of them sell out several months prior to the gig. That is, when you're not studying. Or drinking. Or drinking and studying at the same time. [don't ask wacko.gif ]

Anyway, my folks went for a 15 to 20-day work marathon at the village and I'm left here with craploads of food and few obligations. And it's also cold[er]<3 yeeep, life is moderately decent now.

@Milanius: Yep! I'll certainly keep that in mind. Fortunately for me, most of the bands I like are relatively small or unknown so they play at the small venues around here; hopefully that means it's easier to get tickets to their concerts. I all ready got tickets for a concert next week (4 bands for $30 is a GREAT deal; especially for these quality bands). I'll make sure to keep my eyes open for ticket sales as soon as they open.

@blockhead: I asked the salesman whether it was possible to Myswitch Vista with XP but he said with laptops it ends up ruining the drivers. He said that people have tried to switch but after a month everything starts crashing. I don't know whether I should believe him or not though...

@Revan: Yea, yea.... I've been having problems with working on that Clash I must admit. I thought I would have time my last week but it turned out that people wanted to have going away parties that I wanted to attend so that took away from working on it at night. Then all the worrying and setting up for the move took time away during the day. The lesson I have learned: I'm not going to give you anymore guesses on when I'll have the first part of the Clash done. I'll just say soon now tongue.gif

,,What is this?"
,,This is now. We are in the now, seeing the now."
,,But when will we see them?"
,,Soon."
,,But when will soon be now?"
,,Soon."

Sorry, I had to do that one. It's not the literal version, but it was a funny scene there in Spaceballs. (Star Wars parody) And well, I'll wait patiently.

And yes, the ancient question of 'how old are you?'

Well in three months or so, I'll pass the magical limit of 18! Whoopee, finally the chance has come to learn how to drive a car. Ok, I'm not that enthusiastic. Cars fricking scare me.

Posted by: Lord Revan Sep 2 2007, 10:10 PM

Well, I can get a permit pretty soon, but I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to cars.

As long as it looks decent, and is in reasonable condition I'll be content.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Sep 2 2007, 11:24 PM

I was a little paranoid at driving when I first started. But once you get used to steering and accelerating, it doesn't appear to be that frightening anymore. Though, I probably need to drive on the highway at bit more to get used to not being a bit paranoid doing that. That won't happen anytime soon though. I don't have a car of my own so I'm limited to my own two feet and transit while I'm in Toronto. I'm gonna miss blaring my tunes in the sweet sound system we had installed into a crappy car....

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 3 2007, 12:58 AM

Man, today was boring. Tomorrow will be even more boring! Stupid labor day...

I didn't do much, other than sleep, eat, drink, play Morrowind, play Guitar Hero II, and watched Godzilla on TV.

While playing Guitar Hero II, my brother gave me the "brilliant" idea of trying to play "Jordan" on Hard and Expert. Yeeeaah, if I had played it in Quickplay or Career Mode I would have cried.

My parents are *supposed* to take me to learn how to drive... thus far they haven't.

I already want to go back to bed. That's what boredom does to you.

I forgot to do the remnants of my homework. Oops. I still have tomorrow though.

Posted by: Wolfie Sep 3 2007, 02:02 AM

I've been eligible to learn how to drive for a long while now. One day I might even get around to it. I'm not really that arsed though, to date my bike or my own two feet have sufficed in almost every situation, and where they haven't public transport has stepped up to the plate.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 3 2007, 02:04 AM

We don't have public transport here.

Because it's Oklahoma, and we are backerds.

Well, the major cities in OK do. We don't. Because we suck!

Probably.

Since I know we have geetar players here, what do you suggest I do to practice until I'm fast enough to play songs?

And Mallet, according to MaximumPC switching from Vista to XP simply isn't a good idea on a built for Vista machine. It won't void your warranty (despite what some sales arms of companies might say) but you'll find some devices will cease to work (not completely unable to work, mind you, but they will through a [censored] fit), and various other problems might occur. I really doubt it will harm any drivers.

I have had my license for years (around 4 I think), the freedom...to go down to the cookie factory and buy broken cookies by the kg. And also to go snowboarding whenever I want. Aside from snowboarding I don't really drive, I use public transport for day to day use and I walk often enough. I think my license photo is fine, despite having short hair (which I don't anymore), but passport photo is the one I hate, I usually have my hair resting over my eyes, but for passports you can't have any hair touching your eyebrows so I had to fold it back behind my ears. I look like a rapist. Whenever I need my Dutch passport (the other one is my NZ one) then I think I will get a new photo taken rather than use the same photo despite having spares made for that exact purpose.

I was going to hitch a ride with my cousin and go snowboarding today, but it is too windy, a shame, aside from the fun of snowboarding, I always love looking across the sea from the top of the mountain. Instead I might bake some more cookies, I have 2 variations of the recipe to try to make it orgasmic, perhaps I should just have sex with the girl whilst she is eating the cookies but I like this way better.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 3 2007, 03:44 AM

Good luck with making orgasmic cookies. If they work for men too, send me the recipe plz.

Hey, the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach!

That is so true.

I'm eating spicy rice with white chicken meat, 3 days old, and it is unbelievably good. My mom has, after all these years, learned the right measure of spices and home made tomato sauce. Hey, it's nowhere near golden, crispy baked potatoes with prsuta, but it is still good.

p.s.: Zarre dear, I don't know if this is too tough for you right now, but the song is great: http://www.911tabs.com/link/?266408

Ragh! So tired!

My roommate and I decided to see how the Toronto nightlife was Sunday night and I must say it was lively. Unfortunately, we couldn't get into a certain club because I was wearing shorts (it's summer, why can't I wear shorts!) so we ended up just drinking at a bar. It turned out all right though; most of the time at this bar was spent talking to a pair of ladies. Thing is, I've probably only had 2 hours of sleep, blargh!

I need a nap...

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 3 2007, 11:35 PM

I don't have a working printer and there is no effing way I'm going to sit at the computer where everyone can hear me play my very out of tune guitar badly.

I threw away all my guitar magazines (why, I have no idea), so I'll just have to buy more, or print out some tabs Wednesday while I'm in the library. I think I'll start with something simple, like Nirvana.

Also, I prefer to play tabs to a song I know.

I remember getting so mad that Cain wouldn't take me to the last Van Halen concert when they came to Orlando (was Van Hagar actually) that I loaded all my huge piles of music magazines into our zebra striped station wagon, pulled up to a dumpster and chucked them all in. I was furious. Didn't hurt anyone but myself though and it did make a lot of available space on the floor of the closet. mad.gif

Now they are doing a new tour as the old Van Halen, sort of ... David Lee Roth and Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen (on bass in place of Michael Anthony.) Luckily for me, they are not coming anywhere near Orlando on their 50 venue tour ... so I don't have to get mad all over again. Should make for a lot more radio play. Think I'll go check out their official website and see if they've started the tour yet.

Those damn daywalkers... they eluded me today!

Oooh, I will talk to them. The really attractive one. I wonder if he has a nice a... err, butt.

Today was pretty good. We did a lab in AP Chem/Chem II. We dissolved some sodium chloride and benzoic acid in boiling water. Then, we let it cool. The benzoic acid crystalized out. It was sooo cool! I wish I could have keep the crystals we filtered out twice. They were so cool. But then we used the big lump of leftover crystals and put them into water, and heated it up. Cant wait to see what it did Thursday!

I shall be looking out for the daywalkers tomorrow. If they elude me again, next time I see one of them I'm tackling them.

My experimenting is going well. I need to buy some more vegan chocolate though.
Recipe:
1/5 cup sugar (Fair Trade)
1.5 cup white flour (perhap put some mix grain in too, but not too much)
1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Dash of soy oil (perhaps, it makes the cookies more cookish but not tastier)
x=secret ingredient which I am still discovering, without it the cookies taste a bit doughy, some sort of spice, flavouring or herb, perhaps hash tongue.gif .
Then add soy milk until it sticks together in one big ball but its not liquidy
100g vegan Fair Trade dark chocolate chips.
Bake for 15 minutes at 180c (on baking paper or greased tray).

I half this recipe for experimenting. You can convert into crazy imperial yourself, I don't know why anyone would use a measurement system based on the aspects of the king's size, especially when they don't have a king.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 5 2007, 01:59 AM

Where the hell is... oh, wait, you have baking powder in there.

I still think peanut butter cookies top chocolate chip, but that's just me and my heathen ways. But that could turn out awesome.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Sep 5 2007, 02:25 AM

Well my first time washing dishes is over. Went decently and I was happy that it wasn't terribly busy so I wasn't absolutely bogged down in dishes. Still, it's not the most flattering job, you basically get wet and you often have uneaten food stuck on the back of your hands. Ohwell, you don't really notice since you lose feeling in your hands via dealing with hot water.

Can't wait to start is all over again tomorrow... rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 5 2007, 03:12 AM

Yeah, I don't like washing dishes, but I do them when they aren't too gross. I'll also do the laundry. I simply don't like my mom to have to do those things when she's off.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Sep 5 2007, 04:03 AM

Well the easy part is that our dish washing is based on speed. Basically I just hose down the excess crap, scrub the baked on stuff, then shove it into our high powered washer that basically washes and drys a rack of dishes in like a minute. The dishes are close to being uncomfortable hot afterwards, but it's not too bad.

Cleaning the frying pans by hand is the only annoying thing I really have to do.

Posted by: Priest of Sithis Sep 5 2007, 04:15 AM

tell you what, my first job was cleaning dishes, and I did not like it one bit. It left my fingers all clammy and when i got off, i felt like i needed a shower, but I had been around soapy water all day, and I couldn't stand it.

Ah, but that is a a little bit of the amazing history of the Priest. Did you know that the Priest met a man last veteran's day that had been shot fourteen times on the same day, and still performed his duty in Vietnam?

I got a letter from AmVets yesterday, (American Veterans, I pay a monthly support fee and my family used to give them our outgrown clothes), they mentioned everyone that was going to be at the war memorial in downtown Indy, and the man I met last year is going to be there again. His name, rank included, is First Lieutenant James C. Ransford, and he has been awarded like a trillion purple hearts. The man can't die....

Anyways, thats how vets are treated in Indiana, how are things in other states?

Posted by: Ibis Sep 5 2007, 07:28 AM

Oh Priest, you'd hate how Florida treats them ... most of our permanent and some of the seasonal homeless guys are Nam vets and they are like invisible to society here.

They mostly prefer to 'live in the bush' in camps in the woods and offroad areas. They do come into town, sometimes to the shelters and sometimes for other stuff like to beg by the side of the highways or hold up signs 'will work for food'.

I kid you not, it is so depressing and yet most of them got treated so horribly when returning home from Nam that they have no intention of ever coming back 'into' society.

And special rescue efforts had to be made to them even during the summer of the 4 hurricanes because even the hurricanes couldn't make them come in and many of them weathered it out in rigged up tents out in the palm trees. Amazing - and survived.

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 5 2007, 11:55 PM

Well, when I was going to the courtyard, he happened to be in front of me. He looked behind him at least five times. Then he sort picked up in speed...

Man that saddened me so much. I guess I'll try to talk to him tomorrow and apologize for... scaring him?

The neighbor's kid brought me her b-day cake smile.gif she's turning 11 and is a really a spitting image of her mother - lovely, smart and benevolent kid. I wish there were more people like them in our building.

This makes me stop & think; I am alone here for next 10 days or more and it's kinda making me twitchy - so when the doorbell rang I was uneasy, for some reason. A nice, well-behaved kid with 3 pieces of yummy cake was the last thing I expected. Acts of kindness like that aren't actually random thing here; we drink coffees and eat pastry with neighbors, we mourn when they experience loss in the family, we are happy when they have reasons to celebrate something.

How do you guys get along with your neighbors [presuming you have them]? Is it just a 'good morning/evening' thing or do you get to know some of them better?

p.s.: tomorrow I'm bringing them back the saucer she brought me the cake in, along with some Milka choc. It's the least I can do.

Aww that was sweet! Well neighbours..hmmm yup I do have quite a bunch of those, since I live in a house among a lot of other houses. And we sort of say hello to most, when we happen to meet that is! Swedes are a bit shy and normally we donīt just mingle with others randomly. we do have another family down the street which we meet with. They have a daughter the same age as my son and those kiddos are just so close!

A shame really that we donīt spend more time with our neighbours.... kvleft.gif

Tread, lol, Milanius. biggrin.gif Anyway, I am elated, because....... I don't have any homework/projects! Woohoo! It's the second week of the school year and three different classes wanted us to write an essay/make a pop-up book on safety procedures (This is jr. high not second grade!) dry.gif And lastly, we had to make a personal mandala on the "sun and shadow" parts of our personalities (I hate having to go introverted and write it down). wacko.gif

All of this was in the same week, and school just started. BTW, they had boy/girl orientations today (dress code, rules, sport ettiqutte, how not to interact with students of the opposite gender, etc.) most of this stuff we've already heard over the announcements, and it's not the first week anymore, a little late isn't it?
-------

Now, can I ask for someone to critique my last update in Revan made last week (or so). If it wasn't interesting than tell me so I know to work more on the next (hasn't even started yet, I depend on you guys for love and support, lol). wink.gif

My week: Monday, I was going to go snowboarding with my cousin but it was too windy, and the summit was closed. Instead I went back to sleep (decision was made in the morning). Then aside from listening to classical music and making cookies I went to a Buddhist meeting, which was cool, we have the SGI (Mahayana) regulars (like me), then a couple of zen dudes and this time a muslim, he was coming to find out more about other faiths.

Tuesday: I was going to go wine tasting with my friend to teach her about good wine, but it was too cold so she suggested a chocolate pudding night instead, which was a much better idea, I did bring a bottle of wine. We watched Sin city on her laptop while sitting on her bed and it was raining and hailing outside and I had to walk home in it. I was glad I brought my expensive snowboarding jacket as it did hail on me.

Wednesday disappeared.

Thursday I took one of my friends/acquintances snowboarding. It was lots of fun, right after a 30cm dump so the snow was great, it was suprisingly busy though, especially for a Thursday. I taught her to snowboard in exchange for $20 worth of beer, I think she may have bought me more than $20 though, which was nice. She learnt how to go fast very quickly but still needs to practice going slow, she had loads of fun and is addicted now. She also got a couple of photos of me which she will get to me sometime, and I took a bunch of photos from the summit and I made a video while holding onto the camera and snowboarding down, I doubt it would have turned out well though, because of the vibrating of the board and the resolution may not be high enough to see anything.

Friday followed Thursday. Made more cookies, this time with cinnamon which made them taste less doughy and so they were very nice. Drunk a couple of bottles of beer and caught up with a couple of close friends who I hadn't seen for a few days over msn. I really forgot it was a Friday so I didn't go out.

Saturday (today). Got up, showered, had breakfast, went on computer, here, soon going out for training to work on a special World Vision (whom I volunteer with) project.

I...would never dream of making fun of your writing! After all we europeans, non-native english speaking, must sort of stick together, huh? Gosh I remember I at a time wrote something really funny in my story...I was going to let someone, maybe Serene, long for greener pastures, but instead I wrote "greener pastries" You bet there was laughter throughout the community...but just one made a very sweet and polite remark ...oh aye...I still laugh at myself when thinking of it! biggrin.gif

It seems all of the new members (exception being Gaius) are just for the modding parts and not fan-fiction writers or Role-Players...... and over fifteen sixteenths (random fraction, but you get the point) of the people who joined are allinactive and never get online at all.

It makes this place...... I don't know what I was intending to say, but it just sucks, bottom-line. sad.gif

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Sep 9 2007, 01:17 AM

Wait a second there Revan. I think we've gotten quite a few new fan fiction members. Over the last month, there's been at least 3-5 new fan fictions that have started. We're still going strong!

Now if only I had a decent word processor on my laptop so I could continue writing.... yea, I forgot to mention that tongue.gif

I think the lack of thousands of active members is what makes this place so great. It's like a dysfunctional little family here.

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 9 2007, 08:17 AM

This may sound heartless, but I actually prefer the large inactive portion. I'm not saying they should stay away from here but consider if everyone was a mad poster. I've seen a few forums that went down to their success and spiraled into infinite chaos.

I think the lack of thousands of active members is what makes this place so great. It's like a dysfunctional little family here.

Speaking of dysfunctional families... I just can't convince my relatives I am not about to starve to death.

With my old folks gone for a week now, with the prospect of 7-10 more days away in the country, I am being bombarded by daily calls from my aunts, with one single question: "Do you have enough food to eat??" . After a while I get used to it, but I still get angry when one of them, whom I *have* to visit [after all, she's good people, although she tends to be pushy], overloads me with stuffed peppers, tomatoes, several kilos of fruits, the works. And I can't say NO.

Now I am seriously worried some of that food might get rotten in 4-5 days, since my stomach can only stomach so much food per day. indifferent.gif

Posted by: treydog Sep 9 2007, 04:27 PM

I wish I could be more active here than I have been in the last months- I feel a certain responsibility to the other writers (and to my readers). But various R.L. circumstances have rather painted us into a corner, such that I must work 6 days a week.... I love the teaching that I am doing now, but, since I want to do it right, my "spare" time is taken up with reading, researching, and preparing lecture notes.

I much prefer our unique (O.K.- "dysfunctional" probably is the better word) little family here, as well. I do drop by several times a day, even if I rarely say anything. And, as some of you know, I always respond to P.M.s or email if ever there is something someone wants me to read/ respond to directly.

Now back to Anne Bradstreet and Mary Rowlandson....

I have to agree with Mallie, there are quite a few new writers, and also some newer RP-ers, and good ones as well! I enjoy every story, I read them all but I confess I might be a bad commenter....but rest assure..I do read!

Yeah, people tend to appear bright, interesting, and real, right before they open their mouths.

Generally, the rule here is that you should only see attractive people, not hear them. As a rule, really attractive people tend to be 1) really stupid, 2) really conceited, 3) gay, 4) crazy, a combination of the above, or all of the above.

I went to see that man [it was an ex-colleague of mine, actually] and we talked about possible jobs I could do for him. It's nothing big and if I accept it would be 1/2 of work time, but the money [no matter how scarce] and the time involved suit me just fine. They're doing all sorts of educational software and some smaller games at this point, and would need someone who could do odd jobs & support for smaller tasks. I am not holding my breath, but still this could be decent.

It could be worse, though. Scotland has beaten France tonight, 1:0, and in their group there is a chance that either France or Italy won't make it to Euro2008. If Italians fail to qualify, I won't be so sad. I hate Italians and like Scots. Go Highlanders!

Posted by: stargelman Sep 13 2007, 08:49 AM

Yeah we sort of realized it was just a rule we arbitrarily imported from the TES forums, and that the reason for that rule has long been obsoleted - modern forum software does not refuse to work if threads grow big. So yeah, I don't think we have to do it anymore. I think the only reason they're not stopping with it over at the other place is that once a thread reached 200 there, they'd get swamped with reports and posts like "200. This will be closed." wink.gif

Of course if you think that your threads for something like RP is better off being closed after 200 each for better managability or something, then by all means keep it that way. We just feel it's an unnecessary restriction for this one and possibly others smile.gif

And now for that 201st cup of coffee!

WB Shogun Sniperman :/ bummer... we'll be withyaz in spirit?

In any case, I have gone and done it. I have deconstructed my keyboard and CLEANED IT. Took me 3 hours, no less, during which time I have removed a ton of hairs, dirt, dust and some brown sticky crap I don't even want to think about anymore from the base of the keyboard. After that long and tedious task [during which my neighbor, medicine student on nearby Uni] has entertained me with stories of clingy female colleagues], I've started to clean keys, one by one. By hand, with home made brandy [45% alcohol is the best I could come up, and the stuff smells and tastes really bad; it had made me puke several times by now so it's not a big waste at all].

Right now the entire thing, put back together, looks oddly clean in contrast to mouse, PC's case, monitor and speakers. Sure, it ain't as white as it was in April 2001, but it's very, VERY clean. If you could've see me clean it, slowly and rigidly to the sounds of Idlewild, you would say "This man is possessed" - but the truth is, I really love this tiny CHICONY keyboard. Even if it gets into its previous filthy state within 2 weeks I am still glad I did this.

Now, on to baking potatoes!

edit: blink.gif I have been reading "Shogun" as "Shotgun" all this time. Huh.

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 13 2007, 07:40 PM

Shogun, I hope things will be back online soon.

Maybe I should clean my keyboard as well during the autumn vacation. (Funny, that one always happens during winter.)

Frankly, I don't want to know what's in there.

As for cleaning, all I do from time to time is using a sharp needle to clean the dust and other stuff from my mouse's trackball. If the mouse goes jumpy, I know it's time for a cleaning.

And now for some good news and bad news. What do you guys want to hear first? Let's go with the good news.

My sister has a boyfriend! I was really surprised because frankly, for the last 20 years or so (In other words, during her whole life), she's shown exactly as much interest in romance as I have. Which is to say, so little not even an electron-microscope can pick it up. Ok, maybe she has shown a bit more interest than I have. (She loves romantic comedies while I hate them with a passion.) Oh, and he's over two metres tall. Now we all feel like a bunch of midgets. laugh.gif

Ok, that was the good news, now for the bad news.

Said boyfriend ran off with my Morrowind disk. I've chosen to deinstall the game and use the free space for some other stuff. I hope I can get Homeworld: Cataclysm to work. I've heard it's a good game. (Knowing me, it will crap out.)

Well thats it, now you have to murder him in his sleep. If anyone asks, it was because he wasn't good enough for your sister.

Mil: Now you have cleaned the gunk out of your keyboard with brandy, now you just need to clean the brandy out of your keyboard.

Eh, it already vaporised. Although, the whole keyboard looks... shinier now blink.gif I am not kidding, it shines. And it smells faintly of fermented plums. YUCK.

Cloudy, chase that guy down the street with a club. Or a baby seal, whatever scares him more. Taking your Morrowindz, eh? That's a major no-no.

Tomorrow is going to be so busy for me X.X

Need to get my Cthulhu painting done, then start something with the American flag in it for AP Studio Art. Already know what I'll do. Heeeee....

Calc should be easy... Spanish II shouldn't be that bad when the class is 40 or so minutes long.... AP Chem, hope we go over something new, getting bored in there. And AP English Lit... pfft.

But why I'm so busy? I have an academic team meeting, a closing meeting, and I have to stand up in front of my Computer Information Systems class and end the class on some note.

If only Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy was still on the net....

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 14 2007, 01:44 AM

No, burnt pop tarts would be the breakfast of champions.

Posted by: milanius Sep 14 2007, 01:53 AM

*sends those to Zarr and keeps tasty cultist for himself*
<_<
>_>

'ey, don't look at me like that, I'm hungry...

Posted by: Zarrexaij Sep 14 2007, 01:55 AM

You do that.

Wish my mom would have put salt and other spices in the chicken batter stuff.... it would have been so much more tasty.

Yeah, sorry.

Well the best late night supper after 6 hours of grueling work is chicken hotdogs in a bun and leftover corn. Mmmm, college food!

Posted by: jack cloudy Sep 14 2007, 07:10 AM

Meh, he lieves three hours of driving by car away. (Wonky sentence, sorry.)

Guess I'll just have to blackmail him into buying GOTY for me as a refund, right? tongue.gif

As for Cataclysm, it seems to work. Not a single glitch in the tutorial and even when I pumped the effects and detail to the max, not a single drain on the framerate. The only downside is that my cursor vanishes when I use 3d acceleration, so I had to switch down to software rendering. Ah well, tonight I think I'll start up the first real mission.

PS: The Kuun-Lan is one hot shippy.

It's time for me to have my own breakfast of the champs - choco flakes & milk. <3

Also, I'll TRY to install DARKSTAR ONE today, although I am still unsure whether I'll make it run with 3dAnalyze.

So Metal Mallet, where do you post from? Work?

Pisces, you can keep the Friday because I usually have to work that night; so in fact - you can go to 7/11 and work for me. I'm sure you can do that in any part of the world; they are international, right? Just mail the paycheck to my palmtree nest in Florida. laugh.gif

Jack Cloudy, that's a bad, bad, bad boyfriend and he's got to be corrected or he's going to run roughshod over your family. I think you've got the right idea with letting him buy you GOTY to make up for his theft.

Milanius is now going to become a cleanfreak concerning his keyboard. tahahaa! But I understand totally your attachment to your keyboard, Mil. I love this Saitek Eclipse - even if it is backlit blue instead of purple. It still kinda matches everything else.

Zarr, you'd better eat more that pop-tarts if you want to keep up trailing those ginger kids. Or am I behind the times and you are beyond them now? I seem to remember something about one of them being somewhat dim when he opened his mouth ... but like guys with blondes; we can forgive the cuties if they're a bit lacking in the brain department.

Yeah, Mallet posted mostly from work, at least he did before he went off to college.....

Well, aside from ending the third week of school and finding out that (allegedly) three girls like me, nothing noteworthy has happened on my end. To all of the aforementioned girls, I respond to their friends with "Okay," and nothing more.

I just don't even know two of the three personally, but to the third, I'm just not interested in dating when I know nothing solid is going to come of it (I just prefer not commiting myself to girls or relationships in general).
Call me cynical if you want, but I like to think of myself as a realist (in a way other kids just can't understand or want to try).

I'm fairly sure there is no 7/11 in NZ, there may be one or 2 of these things in an obscure places but nothing I know about. So don't worry, I'll get fired on your behalf for not turning up, I'll keep your paycheck though.

Well I used to post at work on the weekends (well, just Saturday actually) because I had a lot of spare time there. Now, I can only post early in the morning or late at night depending on whether or not I have work. I got to school from 12pm to 4 or 6 pm, then if I work, I got straight from school to work and then I'm usually not out of work until like 12 or 1 am (it all depends on whether or not I'm closing that night). So really during the week, I only have time to post when I wake up or just before I go to bed.

I do everything on a laptop now.

Arg, my friend just invited me to a movie but she got the time wrong. My friends are all so unreliable!

Good luck, it's a fun game! I might play it again soon, but first I'll re-play Arcanum with a mage character! And this time I'll kick major bottom instead of getting my butt handed to me on a plate every time I fight biggrin.gif

Posted by: milanius Sep 15 2007, 12:24 PM

It backfired. It won't even talk to 3DAnalyze. Always me, always me...

Anyway, I'm sick of MX440's crap. I'll look ARCANUM up myself and let the good times roll. Screw "Immershun Tru Grapxicks".

Starge: good lucks to ya. Let that Rage O' Mages rip & make fireballs fly<3 hand them their asses back when they're well done.

Ibis dear: men are shallow, mostly, but some of us are even worse - we're picky! We want looks AND brains, which is the equivalent of many females hoping for that dashing prince of the white horse [or in Zarr's case, black Nightmare? biggrin.gif just kidding]. What can I say? Unrealistic expectations FTW.

Weeeh! I can do disintegrate! Is there anything more fun than to watch your buddies whack a huge spider, doing about 50 points worth of damage, and then follow it up with a spell of yours that does 30000 points worth of damage? laugh.gif

I wouldn't know... yet. Right now I am cursing this sodded installation. Whoever doesn't use .ISO should be executed.

I generally don't chase creepy guys who practically stalk their own girlfriends, kthnxbai.

I just don't chase guys if they're taken. Even more so if they're creepy.

Edit: If you can't read between the lines, I'm really turned off to them. Gah....
