There is the occasional case where I'll have to cheat to counteract a bug or some game-killing glitch. With that said, however, I've never had a circumstance like that crop up while playing Oblivion.

Post #9 in this thread has a link to a site with all the quest ID's and such. Just look under the guild, faction, or area for the quest you need the ID for.

There is an infinite money cheat on the PS3, you have to go to the Talos Plaza District, Dorian's house. Once you enter Dorian should come out to meet you. Paralyze him (killing him won't work) and then while he's incapacitated quickly pickpocket him and take his money. When you take it the money should still remain, and you can keep activating the money until you have loads.

I did it for my first character, but it kinda' ruins the game so I reloaded. It's much more satisfying when you get all the money on your own biggrin.gif.

Why cheat? Why indeed? smile.gif There's probably as many reasons as there are people playing Oblivion, and each has their own reasons for doing it. Also, what may be considered a chaet by one, might not be by many others. TCL, for example, will allow your character to pass through walls and such to be able to retreive items that have fallen through glitches in the game to "the nether land" (as I call it). It's also a great tool for when you want to take that nifty screenshot of your character on the top of a tree, or on top of one of those unclimbable Ayleid arches. Or it will allow you to float just out of reach of that nasty monster while you throw flameballs at it
After you've gone through that beginning dungeon, half a dozen times, do you really want to risk your character dying?? Expecially after you've just spent nearly 1/2 an hour fiddling with the facegen to get his/her face just so? I don't. And with my type of dungeon delver mindset, I also want to drag as much loot out of the place as I can. No matter what the backstory one has on their character, they are still an escaped prisoner with nothing but some rags to wear. They're gonna need to gets funds somehow. TGM makes this a whole lot easier. encumbrance? Wounds? Lack of Majicka? Pah! Those are for mere mortals! ;P (seriously, you should see the pile you can make at the end of the starter dungeon - just make sure you bring all of it outside before 3 days time are up). So, yes, I do cheat through the starter dungeon for reasons of speed, saving my work, giving my char a bit of a financial hand, and the been-there-done-that factor. TGM is also nice if one is playing a race that is technically immortal such as a Dremora or Xivilai.
After the starter dungeon, reasons for cheating depend on why I've gone into the game to begin with. If it's to seriously play, personally I try not to cheat. I'll use TGM to get loot out of cleared dungeons, but once again, that's more of a time saver for me. I don't consider bags of holding, summonable chests, and summonable doorways to toehr realms with storage containers reallys cheats as Tamriel is a land with magic and if your character has the magika well,... smile.gif And if one has companions, one can get them to carry stuff as well. If I'm playing for the sake of just messing around and screenshots, I might cheat like there's no tomorrow. and as I don't save on top of my old games (makes for a ton of savegames) I can always go back and play "for real".
Using codes to get through quests. Now that is something I wish I'd never have to do. It is the ultimate and worst type of cheating in my opinion. But, it is at times necessary even with the patches (official and unofficial) as many quests still will not start or finish properly. And, if you were unlucky enough to get a bad disk, you may have a lot of these.

ROFL. Um, BTW, how DO you make it so that you can walk through walls? It would help a lot. Is it just for PC, or can you do it on the 360?

You can only do it if you are on PC, with the command console enabled in the .ini file. For those on PC, the command is TCL, which stands for toggle clipping.

More info on the command console here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console smile.gif

I heard in Morrowind you could get through walls by leaning into a corner and walking - or was it jumping? (or something) to get to the next cell.

There are also several places you can go off-map, but it doesn't seem to be as beneficial in Oblivion as it is in Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 or Oblivion? If it's Fallout 3, I'll post the vid. It gets you into the Citidel before that section of the Main Questline where you are supposed to go in there. You can get your power armor at the very beginning of the game - but everyone is telling you they are so sorry about your father dying. - so, you guessed it - it glitches the part of the game where you are supposed to come after your father dies.

- one gets you into the Jeff Memorial before you are supposed to be in there. (to kill that Col. and get his weapon and raincoat)

Both of these glitch the game for the ending, but can be got around with a lot of patience and tenacity. (I say patience, but I beat the H out of that female scientist when she wouldn't push the [censored] button to let me into the sealed area to punch in the code)

There is one in the 'Brotherhood' DLC that gets you an awesome weapon. Other than that, there are several that avail you nothing. You must have good agility to get most.

*

In Oblivion, it is just a way to wander off map, and gains you nothing. (these are just the ones I have done, I'm sure there are more) On the 360:

1. If you have the Wizards Tower and do that glitch, you are off map and can walk to the other test area for PC users - but can't get into the one that holds everything.

2. Any area that takes you off map you can get out of and be off map - The place where you get the Crystals, the place where you get the Draconia Madstone, the "Painted World", the "Dream World. Good agility needed on these.

3. In the Jeralls and Valus mountains there are a couple places you can go off into Skyrim or Morrowind

4. The Topal bay has a place that goes off map, start in Anvil and swim underwater to the left and out. Another of these in the Shivering Isles, swim to the far right of the map or swim out anywhere from the island.

5. Any of the castles or city walls (requires agility to get to the top). Climb to the top of the ramparts and jump out of the city or off the castle wall (out) Must have good health, be able to heal, or wear Springheel Jak boots unbroken.

Warning - climbing to the top of the Temple of the One will trigger a Daedric attack and Mehrunes Dagon will arrive.

There are a bunch - but other than the Temple of the One, they afford you nothing. The ones that get you into Morrowind and Skyrim - you get the thrill of looking at your map and seeing yourself walking into those regions.
