Chorrol.com _ General Discussion _ ~The little Coffee-shop~

Posted by: minque May 12 2005, 09:53 PM

This is meant to be a place where you can talk about anything without having to stay on topic. Feel free to ask questions, to talk about the things in your life you like to share with your fellow-members. Or just step inside for a while, have a coffe and a good chat!

You may feel free to post whatever you like as long as it is within the rules of the forum.

But if the conversation degrades to spam, you will be treated as though you are spamming anywhere else on the forum. This is a thread where you can relax and talk about personal things, but it is not to be used as an excuse to make pointless posts.

Please help to keep this alive and well and a place where we can meet and share.

Enjoy your stay here!!!
Well being that I like fighting more than anything else in a MMO SWG really lost it for me. I played it for 1 month I think and couldn't stand it, I'm sure they could of done a better job...

Oh and WoW. I don't care if you like it, whatever suits your fancy. I'm just saying that to me it feels the same. And in a lot of ways guild wars feels the same too.
combat was hard, as to fight any thing reallygood, you needed to "buff" yourself, which is temporaily raisng stats. And wear armor.

Though, of the Fighting styles i've tried, Teras Kasi (Martial arts type stuff), Swordsman (Two handed swords), Bounty hunter (Pistols, Carbine, and a Special Weapon all rolled into one), and pistoleer (Pistols), thety were all pretty fun.

Esspecially swordsman and Bounty hunter. biggrin.gif

Teras Kasi was good for Meditating in Pictureque places. biggrin.gif

and pulling off kickass combo type objects.

Posted by: Channler May 12 2005, 10:32 PM

oh.. well alex did say in.. one of the many coffee shops that there would need to be some other place for the discussions we were having. I'm just wondering do you see anything wrong with it?

Oh and BTW, hows it going Jona? Hopefully not to sandy biggrin.gif

Posted by: minque May 12 2005, 10:34 PM

personally I donīt mind debate, itīs just hard to keep it neat and civilized....But in this case I think the admins have to decide....

Pants? Yes or No?

It's a poll that willl eventually spread throughout the world!

Yes: 125

No: 517

It isn't about wearing pants, or if you like pants. Just answer yes or no. It helps to say whatever comes into you head first.

And I want coffee and pi.

Make the coffee green... not too dark, almost a green that could tranform ones soul into an almost hypnotic state for a time being... and a chocolate cookie.

And, since I don't have to stay on topic, I would like to share a question that I get all of the time, since I am a major in Cosmological Studies.

What is Dark Matter?

---Dark matter is any nonluminous astronomical particle that is detected only by its gravitational influence. Examples include planets, black holes, white dwarfs and more exotic things like weakly interacting particles.

Also, another popular question I get is:

Do White Holes exist?

---The answer is yes. A white hole is the time reversal of a black hole, another singularity in space-time. Matter emerges from a white hole (unlike a black hole, into which matter is drawn). An example of a white hole is the original singularity of the Big Bang. Also, Jupiter's white oval visible from space is a 70-year-old storm. This enormous hurricane is almost the size of the Earth, and could engulf earth itself, it the two gravitational pulls did not contradict eachother.

Any questions? Anyone? I feel like teaching. I have 24 days and 145 hours left before I feel like not teaching.

Posted by: minque May 12 2005, 10:59 PM

And I say YES

And hereīs your coffee, some chocolate-chip cookies...and a blueberry-pie, ta-daaa

*hands out the food to warsgoth*

Channler: I believe they've said numerous times that threads of that nature are allowed, but double-checking and seeing if they have anything to add or making specific requests is probably a good idea, yes.
If a green light flashes, go ahead and establish whatever ground rules you wish for the debate, but a mention of our http://forums.waiting4oblivion.com/viewtopic.php?t=3 will do for the behaviour-tidying part. We're watching over you. smile.gif

Yack, I've been busy lately, and it don't stop 'till the wheels fall off!
One of the last, and nastiest, chemistry tests scheduled for take-off in about 8 hours. I be doomed! Doomed, I say...
So, HI, JonaJosa! Gimme da bomb! *guzzle*

You folks have a lovely evening/morning/day/etc. now, and g'night.

EDIT: Hello, Warsgoth! smile.gif Belated Happy birthday, cake and hugs!

Posted by: Warsgoth May 12 2005, 11:06 PM

Woo! Now I have 2 birthday-wish thingies.

And I hate blueberry. Make it green....

Posted by: jonajosa May 12 2005, 11:59 PM

Its not to sandy... in some places. The thing we worry about is the dust in the air. There so much of it up there that when it rains... it rains mud. I mean i'll walk out side during a storm or somthing and next thing i know i have 1in of mud all over my body.

And then the worst happens! The storm passes and it gets real hot and the mud dries to my BDUs. I have to wash them again! Really annoying.

I've always wondered.. What is Anti-Matter? And is it possible to "Tear" a hole through space as such has how a black hole does?

Posted by: Hukai The Wandering May 13 2005, 12:48 AM

*bows to jona when enters*

did you know that there is a black hole in the center of every galaxy? whether it be active or dormint, its still there.

really? So if you go into a black hole and survive, then theoretically you could come back into the galaxy via white hole? this is interesting.

and my question is................................. i'm not getting anywere. nevermind lol

and Hi Jonajosa i'm going to steal some cookies.

to Rane's last coment to me: yes thats what I though, that sucks really bad, taking it that all I have is (in order of use) a PC and the SuperNES and the Atari Jaguar come in close together. and my mom won't let us get anything else.

and to Fuzzy Knight: what was your first new avatar? didn't get to see that one.

Posted by: Hukai The Wandering May 13 2005, 01:36 AM

hey, im working on my book (i got it good this time) and want to know, where do i post it for (god forbid) editing?

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 May 13 2005, 02:34 AM

pm Minque i think

Posted by: Aki May 13 2005, 11:44 AM

Frankly soulseeker, i wouldn't try it.

With the gravitationpull of a black hole, and how its' not physically a hole (as in, a 2-D hole with only one or two enterable sides...) i suspose its just a big Gravity crushing thing.

and i doubt being crushed is very pleasant at all...

Posted by: Channler May 13 2005, 12:13 PM

Well if you could go through a black hole whos to say that you'd go anywhere save the other side of it??

Posted by: Fuzzy Knight May 13 2005, 12:49 PM

Can everyone look at my avatar as I say "Seeerve me..." plz... For a very long time tongue.gif

I went to a rehabilitation center. It was pretty cool.

Well, I don't think you will be missing that much. biggrin.gif When (and if) the game comes out I don't expect that much from it. Quite frankly, I'll probably wait for a whole bunch of reviews of it first, then ask people who played it about what it's like and then I will perhaps borrow it from someone or somewhere. That is, if my PS2 will still be working at that point...

Anyway, it's another sunny day here. If the weather continues to be like this we'll get an early summer here after all. smile.gif

Hope everyone will have a nice weekend. smile.gif

Posted by: Fuzzy Knight May 13 2005, 05:34 PM

Very nice weather here too, but not to sit inside - all still from 8:00 - 13:30 with the Math Exam...

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 06:02 PM

Minque wanted me to post this here, so i will
Myself and a wonderful girl who goes by the name of Romana Elen on the ES forums are a couple. It's long distance, but with any luck we'll make it work.

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 06:09 PM

Let us celebrate this later tonight when dear Wolfie has got Romana to join these forums...

*have some tea and cookies while we wait for Romana*

Posted by: Rane May 13 2005, 06:09 PM

Really? Darn, I haven't really been that up to date with what's going on in the community lately. kvleft.gif

I wish you best of luck then. smile.gif Hoping things will work out for the two of you.

So, when does the party exactly begin? biggrin.gif I'll bring the punch and pie.

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 06:13 PM

I didnīt know until a while ago either but I knew they were very close friends....
biggrin.gif

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 06:16 PM

26th of April biggrin.gif
we first started talking on the 5th of April after she posted a story on the Es forums and i commented on it. I noticed she was Irish and things kinda went from there

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 06:33 PM

I also read her story then....and I noticed you commenting, I think I also did.....

itīs rather funny how things like that can develop..

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 06:53 PM

yeah but i'm glad i met her.
Who knows where i'd be if i hadn't.
Edit : Too personal

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 07:50 PM

Well iīm happy for you.... biggrin.gif

So when and where do you plan to meet?

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 08:10 PM

not sure when, but probably down in Limerick where she lives
Could be a couple of years before we meet, unfortunately

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 08:17 PM

Awww thatīs sad..is it so geat distance between Limerick and Dublin? if so wonīt there be some Ryanair flights....? theyīre really cheap....

Ryanair is irish....

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 08:18 PM

it's not really the distance so mucha s the fact that because we're both so young permission off our parents could be a problem. and money too kvleft.gif

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 08:26 PM

yeah....hmm thatīs right, funny, I donīt see you as young as you really are, you are so mature and I like very much talking to you.....but sure you might persuade your parents to let you go on summer-vacations....but then again maybe not

I would have let you go because I think you are sensible and you would manage very well......

My middle-daughter is 16 and she also has control, Iīm starting to let her go on concerts, festivals, other kind of trips on hr own, to let her learn to take care of herself....and so far she has done wonderfully...as I think you would!!

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 08:35 PM

People always think i'm really mature. I just act how i find natural, but people are always asking me what college i go to or thinking i'm at least a year older than i am. I suppose that's a good thing though.
And if only my mam thought of me the way you do in terms of responsibilty and stuff Minque. That would be cool

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 09:03 PM

Maybe irish moms are more possessive...in sweden we are quite liberal....and besides how can a teenager learn to take care of himself if heīs not allowed to try?

When my eldest daughter was 17 she travelled all along sweden waaay up in the north and we live rather far south..but she managed naturally...you young ones does..I know it if only you are allowed to take responsibility...hmm thatīs my opinion anyway

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 09:06 PM

I think Ireland is just less safe than Sweden or something. It sucks

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 09:17 PM

yeah could be that way......but canīt you go with some friends....maybe older ones......or a brother or something

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 09:17 PM

no brothers lol biggrin.gif
And i'd kinda want it to be just me and Romana, sappy as that might sound

Posted by: minque May 13 2005, 09:19 PM

oh yes of course! but the travel could be safer if you were not travelling alone...

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 09:21 PM

yeah i know. Maybe i could go if i told her my friend was coming....
He's younger than me, but he got his black belt last Sunday biggrin.gif

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 May 13 2005, 09:54 PM
I think Ireland is just less safe than Sweden or something. It sucks
At least its smaller than the U.S.A.

Can't go anywhere cool because the continent is sooooooooo damn big. Downfall i suspose of having so much land, can't get anywhere. tongue.gif

Not to mention, Ireland is prolly safer, and that safety is probablly influenced by its smaller size (smaller a country is = easier to police)

Posted by: Wolfie May 13 2005, 10:06 PM

lol yup. Ireland may be small but it's better biggrin.gif

Don't get me wrong but Ireland is awsome, but to me America is much better.

BTW I was born in Ireland, and then my parents (who were visiting ireland at the time from the US) realized that they had a baby to take home.. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Hukai The Wandering May 13 2005, 11:19 PM

lol Hukai i think you should pm her biggrin.gif

Posted by: Hukai The Wandering May 13 2005, 11:34 PM

i could, but then anyone else who edits (who might be the right person while im pm'ing the wrong person) could see my post and say "hey, i'll do it Hukai." then i'll be all like biggrin.gif and the'll be all like :evil4: and ill be like  and they'll be like verysad.gif and ill be like  and they'll be like :gun: and ill be like :bullet: :sad2: *SPLAT!* and thell be like ohmy.gif sad.gif biggrin.gif and then they'll edit it and ill be like :evil14: and they'll be like  "Zombie!" and ill be happy it was edited! To answer the question about Anti-Matter:

It does exist. It is just a bunch of anti-particles. Anti-particles are the same as their corresponding ordinary particle with regard to physical appearance, mass, average lifetime, and magnitude of electric charge. The anti-particle has an opposite sign of an electric charge, opposite intrinsic parity and opposite direction of magnetic moment.

And about tearing holes in space like a black hole, you cannot at our current inventional status. Maybe in the next million years or so we may have a plausible answer.

And to add on to the statement about a black hole in the center of every galaxy, there is actually a black hole in the 'center' of the universe. Slowly it is swallowing surrounding galaxies, and eventually it will be large enough to distort the universe. Could it cause another 'big bang' and recreate a universe? Is there a white hole that will spit everything back out? Will anything live? Tune in next week, I guess.

Being that I have no belief in the big bang theory I'm putting money on it that it wont happen...

I thought the universe was expanding? if there was a black hole wouldn''t everything be coming together?

Hows life Jona?

Well... Its tireing. 14 hour works days. And its all spent sitting at a comp sending messages back and forth between camps. However i get to go to the market every so often. I'll get some pics up for yall. Hold on.

I dont know how to put pics on here.

Sinders rank(whatever you call it) though does not fit him. His should be Mr loveable. And his Avatar shoudl show the S and the V again. I lied that one better.

Darkwing is still a master gimp...

Gooooooood morning everyone. biggrin.gif

Really seems like summer is coming early this year. Only thing that's missing right now is that the water would become a bit warmer and then I'd be off, swimming all day.

Anyway, I hope everyone will have a good sunday.

Oh, and only 3 days 'til E3. :lickinglips2:
yup we're just evil people biggrin.gif
I refuse to believe that absurd and utterly weird statement. tongue.gif

Posted by: Fuzzy Knight May 15 2005, 10:47 AM

Hehe I'm in on swimming to Rane... :lickinglips: Its very nice weather here in Norway too, at least much sun and very hot..

So what do u think will be revealed on E3 ? :ashamed:

Posted by: Rane May 15 2005, 10:52 AM

I'm really hoping that they will show something about the new magic system. biggrin.gif

From what I've heard it's Todd who will be sitting there for 25 minutes, jumping around in the game world. Considering that it is indeed for 25 minutes I'm quite sure we will be seeing the new combat system, the fast traveling, horses and probably even the brand new exciting telekinesis spell.

Basically, it's going to rock. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Fuzzy Knight May 15 2005, 10:57 AM

Hope the telekinesis will be as/ or better then the Gravity Gun in HL2, its so freaking cool :lickinglips:

Posted by: Rane May 15 2005, 11:01 AM

Heck yeah. It should be exactly like the grav gun. Or preferably, even more advanced.

The ability to throw around creatures sounds very.... interesting to say the least. biggrin.gif Hoping we will be able to do that as well.

Posted by: minque May 15 2005, 04:07 PM

what? nooo in what way ugly?

Posted by: Rane May 15 2005, 04:09 PM

Let's just say that they sometimes simply can't get along that well...

Posted by: minque May 15 2005, 04:11 PM

OMG cat-fights.....hmm i usually go out and save Bolzmann when heīs in trouble

Posted by: Rane May 15 2005, 04:17 PM

Heh, as soon as Hell breaks loose I just move to another room. Or then I just open the door outside and they all run out. biggrin.gif

Still, I think it has got something to do with the fact that one of them is only about 4 months old. You know how kidsters are these days... wink.gif

Posted by: minque May 15 2005, 04:22 PM

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif yeah....I do know..but surely you must save the little kitty from the big beasties....

mine is 7 years and a kind lazy cat who doesnīt like to fight one bit.....and the neighbour has a female meanie who always pick on Bolzmann.... sad.gif

Posted by: Rane May 15 2005, 04:49 PM

I think I would have to save the big beasties from this smaller beast in this case. So far most of the other cats I've seen around here back away from the occasional fights. And those fights that take place "within family" usually end when the older cats get tired of the younger one and just walk away.

Nothing serious has happened yet and for that I'm grateful of course.

i would have to post it on the web somehow and I don't have photobucket yet. sad.gif

Posted by: Warsgoth May 16 2005, 02:31 AM

I had 3 cats. My oldest was Jasman. She was an old cat who seemed to have starved itself after it's kidney exploded, then suffered from ammonia, and then suffered from internal bleeding. She was 19 (human) years old.

The second youngest of the trio is Sherbert. Colored just like the icecream, and just as round. She has her moments of attitude, but so does any other cat at her age, 4 years. I guess she is a teenager now.'

The youngest oof them all is Ebony. All black, with an unsymmetrical blotch of white on his face and white boots. Only at 2 years of age, he suffers from not being able to 'hold it in'. He needs urinary tract food everytime he eats to help him make it to the box. He is also a whopping 18 pounds. I imagine he'll be about 7421 metric tons by the time he is Jasman's age.

Pictures I do not have. For some reason I never get around to putting a picture on my computer and uploading it onto photobucket.

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 May 16 2005, 02:41 AM

WOW big kitty mine seem tiny now.

Posted by: Warsgoth May 16 2005, 02:42 AM

My new nextdoor neighbor has a 37 pound cat. It's only 14, too. Imagine having that jump on your lap during TV time.

Taipoca pudding is my favorite. Vanilla is my friend. And Chocolate is my sister.

I was born in this great and wonderful month of may!

Hows it goin? In contrast to your weather minque ours in Nashville, North Carolina is very hot, humidity was killer (goes with da state), and girls in bikini's!!!!!

Grr.. why do I have a girlfriend now!? Why, dear god tell me why!!!

Anyways about that magic weed, never tried it, never want to. Neither cigirattes (SP?), but I can't really help myself with the booze. I love me some Jack Daniels or Smirnoff(SP). Vodka's pretty nice too

Just got to make sure I don't get caught with it, I plan to have a very good record for my.. secret ambitions... wink.gif
