Varondo is fun to explore! viking.gif bluewizardsmile.gif I like how at the end they go back to some place full of pallets so they can get some rest. sleep.gif That was a good read. How many hours has Jandaga's game accrued so far?

Last we saw, 'the Redguard' was headed back to the Imperial City, so he can make his grand return to all his friends who inhabit the Waterfront area. Halfway to the city, he remembered the mask given to him by Anvil's count. The Grey Cowl of Nocturnal. emot-ninja1.gif He put this cowl upon his head, but does not seem to understand the consequences of this.

Sun's Height 26

"You're wanted dead or alive, Gray Fox. And this will be easier if you're dead!"

The Redguard thinks Hey, I'm no Gray Fox while looking longingly for a moment over to Wawnet Inn.

Wawnet Inn. A place which contains one of the best and most complete collection of wines ever assembled. Nerussa, its publican, seemed a little loony at times. In fact, there were rumors in the past about her being an alcoholic herself, as well as a cultist who was secretly running a brothel in her cellar. The Redguard never saw any of this as true. Sure, sleeping next to one's collection of wines seemed a little eccentric. In some peoples' eyes, perhaps. But certainly, he'd been guilty of that as well, hadn't he?

...The Redguard looks toward Wawnet Inn...

"This is the end for few" shrieks the Imperial impatiently, getting slowly off his horse.

... where plenty of wine is kept nice and cool...

"HUUUAHG!" the Imperial's sword swishes.

... but this is no time for thinking about wine. Instead, the Redguard ankles his stolen Legion horse, goading it forward. Then, he comes up with a plan. Jumps over the stone fence, straight onto the property owned by that 'damned fishes' man. The Imperial follows, taking time to open the cottage's gate. The Redguard rushes around fish-man's yard, slipping a bit around the corner, and then leaps the horse over the cottage's back wall. The horse lands into the ground. Lots of mud, everywhere! It's been raining all day, after all.

The Redguard keeps the horse moving, but suddenly realizes nobody is chasing.

"I'll get you, Gray Fox!!" calls the Imperial, who now seems to be stuck upon the fish-man's cottage's rear wall.

The Redguard smiles. Trots his horse more calmly away. The purple blob of magical essence (representing the Imperial soldier) falls further behind. Halfway across the gigantic bridge back to the Imperial City, he decides maybe it's best to put his new mask, his Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, back into his nightsack. He does so, while also grabbing the slab of salted beef. He immediately wolfs this down. Beef is gone, mask is safe. By performing this action, he doesn't realize his bounty is now cut in half.

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

9:34 pm
Back on the Waterfront it's now fully nighttime, and chaos ensues!

"Armand you must help me!"

The Redguard had encounterd yet another guard; in fact at least two of them discovered the most-wanted thief in all Cyrodiil is now back upon their territory. They rushed behind, swinging their expensive weapons. The Redguard quickly placed his Chameleon ring back upon one of his fingers, then called upon his Redguard ancestry to build upon his adrenaline. This caused him to run a little extra faster, jump a little extra higher. He managed to jump upon one of the Waterfront's roofs.

But there was no purpose to this. Even while hunkering down and trying to shush his movements, the guards both knew he was there. Did they also have some sort of life-detecting magic? Who cares. They began to ready their bows. There was no choice but to make his moves, scrambling all over the Waterfront (in an effort to confuse the guards) before finally sneaking around. Waiting for them to calm down. Once he realized he'd apparently lost them, he then rushed around while sneaking, finally safely into Armand's shack.

"Kahreem? Is that you?"

"Ahh, sorry," Kahreem, the Redguard, says. "Let me take this ring off. There. Now you can see me."

"You wear the shadows well, fallow thief."

"Not at the moment, I don't," Kahreem rolls his eyes. "Hey, can you keep all that 'fellow thief' talk down? The whole squadron is looking for me right now."

"You can pay your fines to the guards, serve your time, or pay me half, and I'll fix 'em all."

Kahreem, the Redguard, grumbles. "How much is it, this time?" And 375 gold are gone, just like that. "Good thing I've got several thousand on my person, Armand. You have no idea what I've been through."

"Consider it done," Armand Christophe, the Waterfront's Thief Guild doyen says with a smile. "I will get rid of all your criminal warrants."

"Hey, well that is entirely wonderful. Another successful run, back out of lawlessness."

"Absolutely, Kahreem. How goes it, my brother fellow thief?"

The Redguard palms his face. "So I have something to show you, Armand. You are really going to be surprised about this one!"

"What is it?"

Kahreem of Weet grins. Then he pulls his final bottle of Cheap Wine from his nightsack, and uncorks it with a *POP*.

More madcap adventures with the Wheet bandit. I thought that he was going to produce the Grey Cowl at the end. But instead it was cheap wine! laugh.gif Which is especially funny after his musing about Nerussa and her stock of fine vintages.

It isn't a Kahreem episode without some Cheap Wine! biggrin.gif

Yeah, it was good he had so much gold -hrrm- on his person, so he could get rid of that pesky fine. Like SubRosa I thought he was gonna show Armand the cowl at the end but I guess he wants to keep that thing to himself biggrin.gif

@Renee - Jandaga is now at 378 hours and the story has been running since August 2017. Your Redguard story is also a good read, most enjoyable. I'm getting the impression that there some sort story behind 'the Wheet Bandit' and 'cheap wine' comments.

@Lopov - The black thing is a mummified body. I have install a mod that place bodies randomly in the tombs. it adds some atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend it to most since many bodies get placed in areas I don't think they should be. In bandit sleeping quarters for example. I don't care how sleazy a bandit you are I'm certain you're going to remove that stinky mummy away from you bedroll.

- Yes and no, the big green one is a glass golem added by the mod Creature Diversity. Creature Diversity make a distinction between atronachs and golems

- With his Alteration skill at 102, the Unlock Everything spell nearly always works. Jandaga just has to take off all his armor for the very hard locks.

@Renee - I liked Kahreem's dreamy thoughts of the Wawnet Inn as the guard close to him was getting ready for a battle. But then Kahreem made the guard stuck. laugh.gif

"You wear the shadows well, fellow thief" was probably the least appropriate comment in that moment. biggrin.gif

Time for some cheap wine! Well-deserved!

What fun! I loved Kahreem's musing that a woman who sleeps with her wine must be okay. Pulling a bottle of cheap wine instead of the cowl at the end got me by surprise too . . . but it is just so very Kahreem! tongue.gif

20200529 a trip through the highlands
It’s a beautiful morning when we left Varondo. Everyone is feeling cheerful and full of hope that we’ll reach Chorrol by super time.

The trail took us higher up the mountain before turning eastward down into the valley below. Exiting the mountain trail we could see a small camp far off to the right. Two figures from the camp began to approach us. They got about half way to us when they suddenly drew their weapons and charged straight at us.

Bandits? What in Oblivion are they thinking?

I know what they were thinking. Four girls and a tree-hugger all dress in psychedelic costume armor, ripe for the picking. Well they thought wrong that’s for sure.

One of the bandits was carrying a Dwemer cog. It takes little time to investigate Brotch Camp. Nothing of real value was left in the camp.

The oddest thing happened while we were searching the pockets of the two bandits. A large group of Ogres walked right past us heading north. Not a word was said, no hostile movements by any of them. They just walked on by, so close I could have touched one. If that wasn’t odd enough, one stopped to investigate the dead bandits. (I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anything like that before.)

Up through the valley we walked. North of Wind Cave and we encountered two separate groups of hostile Orcs; three Wild Orcs in one, and three Orsinium Warriors in the other.

Trying to impress the dominate male of the Wild Orcs, an Orc female tried to bull rush Maeva. She didn’t succeed as the little Cute Elf, Maeva steadfastly held her ground and ran her through with her sword. Maeva recovered a warhammer belonging to Countess Millona Umbranox.

Kaleah makes an observation that Orcs in the Colovian Highlands either travel alone or in groups of one male and two females. We all agree that it seems that way but can’t come up with a reason why.

It was getting dark as we neared Lakeside Camp when we were attacked by a young dragon. Poor thing must have been starving to attempt attacking such a large party of travelers. Thinking a young dragon could mean an adult dragon nearby, we decided it best not rest here but to continue on a little further to Ave’s House of Earthly Delights for a little food and drink.

Hours later, Maeva pulls Jandaga’s ponytail to get his attention.

”Are you ready to go yet? Come on; let’s go before Vilja starts stomping on the tables!”

We stagger out of Ave’s and head toward Chorrol. It was just before dawn when we arrived at Arborwatch. Dead tired we just flop wherever.

Those ogres are like Sergeant Shultz. "I see nothing, I hear nothing, I know nothing..."

Maeva could not resist pulling that ponytail!

How odd about that ogre procession. Some sort of pilgrimage perhaps.

'Hours later, Maeva pulls Jandaga’s ponytail to get his attention.'
- - Haha! And I do see Vilja off to the right there.

And now you know the whole story about the night at Ave's House of Earthly Delights. Well almost.

Been thinking about the ogre procession. Could be that they're coming from Lord Drad's Estate? We followed them a little ways until they entered the near by Ayleid Ruin Nonungalo, I think it was.

A group wearing psychedelic armor! cool.gif

That is pretty awesome, that group of peaceful ogres walking by. Maybe that is Maskar's work.

"Trying to impress the dominant male orc... " I really like that part. I like that you see these moments we all see, but with little stories attached to them.

Today was perfect weather day in Maryland. It does this every year. There will be cold or cool weather throughout most of springtime. Then toward the end of May it'll get really humid / swampy. 80 degrees, 90 degrees, tons of humidity. But then... it'll all go away. Warm weather remains, but humidity is removed for a few days. smile.gif

So I spent most of today lying around outside, or spring-cleaning. Perfect Weather. So I'm too woozy to write. But hey, at least I didn't drink! wacko.gif I want to keep the weekly flow of stories going, though. So now it's time for some

Klassic Kahreem

This was written originally here on September 3rd, 2012. Hoy, I wrote about his Tutorial Dungeon experience. emot-ninja1.gif

-----------------------------

Kahreem of Weet could not believe his luck! It did not take long before a group of figures rushed into his jail cell, told him to stand "over by the window." And then, a moment he could have never predicted in a hundred days: the Emperor Himself followed a group of his bodyguards into Kahreem's cell. Emperor Uriel Septim had just walked inside, and then granted Kahreem with his presence.

The words The Emperor spoke did not make a whole lot of sense; something about having a dream with Kahreem of Weet in it. How could that be? For he was little more than a common bandit.

Within a few minutes, it was done. Kahreem did not know if his term of Prison was officially over or not, but he did know the Emperor and his bodyguards had left a secret doorway in his cell WIDE OPEN for him to escape from! Kahreem could not believe his luck!

Over the course of several hours, he snuck behind the group that had freed him. Found additional passages to sneak through, and eventually wound up with the following items:

1 club

1 leather shield (later traded for a rusty iron one).

1 roughened leather armor suit

1 pair of roughened leather boots

1 red hoodie, an attempt to hide his face should anyone later accuse him as an escaped prisoner.

dozens of lockpicks! More than Kahreem had ever held in his life at one time.

dozens of gemstones. Jewels, and a few scrolls that he can't use, since he can't read magical runes.

-------------------------------------------------

Kahreem eventually found the group that had freed him, after many hours of sneaking around, killing rats and goblins. He feared he'd have to fight his way through to safety, but again, Uriel Septim prevented this from happening.

The Emperor rambled on, talking of things that went right over Kahreem's head.* All Kahreem wanted to know is how to get out of here.

He eventually got his wish affter the final attack, the Emperor had been attacked by strange red-robed assassins. A fellow Redguard named Baurus helped Kahreem make the ultimate escape out of a sewer area. After doing so, Baurus stayed behind! Why didn't he follow Kahreem to safety?

Baurus wanted to know if Kahreem had former training as an Acrobat! An Acrobat?

Kahreem had tried not to laugh. Being a lone Redguard in the land of Cyrodiil, he had become more of a Bandit than a pure Acrobat. He could pick locks with varying success, and had found occasional trouble with the law as a teen because of this.

As Kahreem of Weet left the sewer outside to a dazzling Cyrodiilic day (wow, it never gets old...that moment leaving the Sewers) he decided to head up to the Imperial City. Lots of opportunity up there.

* I remember that I roleplayed Kahreem's clueless approach to the emperor and Baurus perfectly!

20200601 The return of the Vampire Hunter – Ninendava
It was almost noon the day after the late night at the House of Earthly Delights when I finally woke up. Don’t remember getting in the bed but here I was dress in my night clothes and tucked in bed. Must have been the maid Lucy Pinder’s doing. Sweet thing, I really should make a better effort in finding her sister.

Putting on a robe I went downstairs for breakfast, ah lunch. During lunch I mentioned that an orc I had met at Ave’s who told me he had been recruited for a construction job down near Sutch and was spending his sign-up bonus. We decided to have a look Sutch next time we’re in the area.

After lunch, Pym laid a strange item she had picked up in Varondo on the table next to Countess Millona Umbranox’s warhammer. The grotesque thing looked like a beating heart encased in a blob of clear jelly. Kaleah called it a Sphere of Hate.

“Whatever you do don’t break it,” Kaleah instructed. “Best to store it away in a safe place.”

Ooops!

After the clean-up, the Ladies claimed they are tired of having nothing to wear around the house so off to the shops we went. The rest of the day was spent in Chorrol’s shops.

Now, after couple days of shopping and tending to business at the Mages Guild Hall it was time to get back to important stuff and on the road to Bruma. It is always a good feeling to be away from all the sign-this, sign-that Mages Guild paper work. Why I ever accepted the Arch-mage position I’ll never know. The Archeology Guild is so much more relaxed.

A few hours later on the Orange Road, Pym the Silent One grabbed my arm and pointed to a trail that led north toward Ninendava. Ah yes, the Order of the Virtuous Blood had reports of vampire activity near Ninendava. We should investigate.

Turning onto the trail we crossed over a bridge near a waterfall as we headed north to Ninendava. Arriving at the entrance I turned to the Ladies and told them I should go in alone.

“It’s been a long time. Are you sure?” Kaleah asked. She sized me up and down a moment and then reaching into her pocket bag she pulled out a couple of items. “Been saving these, thinking you might need them again.”

Every girl crazy ‘bout a sharp dress Feache,” hummed Kaleah as she helped with the ties and buckles. Pym and Maeva did the Eagle Rock up and down the entrance steps while Vilja looked on incredulously, not knowing what to make of the whole affair.

Holy moly! I had barely stepped foot in Ninendava when several draugr, a rare draugr wizard, and two vampires nearly ended the excavation before it even began. With the aid of my own summoned fighters; the Sisters of Insanity and a Dremora Lord I made it through to the lower levels. There I encountered the Mesmerizing Lady and her Beloved Champion.

The Mesmerizing Lady's Beloved Champion falls to the Light of Dawn.

The Mesmerizing Lady follows her beloved a short time later.

With Ninendava now deathly quiet and the Light of Dawn having drunk its fill of vampires, I went back to the entrance to tell my Ladies all is well and it’s time to loot the place. Of the many things we found one was an Ayleid statue sure to be of interest to a collector I know.

Your game looks absolutely fantastic in those outdoor shots (like road to Bruma).

So even solo, looks like Jandanga's still got it! tongue.gif

I agree with Acadian - the road to Bruma shot is spectacular?

Which mod adds the Mesmerizing Lady?

Nice to read the very first Kahreem. He came out of the prison better equipped as he was ever before.

The mod that adds the Mesmerizing Lady is Vampire Hunting - Order of the Virtuous Blood, Version 3.2. released in 2017. By merging; "Vampire Hunting - Order of the Virtuous Blood", "Kendrel - The Vampire Huntress", "OVBE - Order of the Virtuous Blood Expanded," and "Caldera Update" into one neat package. This mod adds 28 additional quests which become available after you have completed the vanilla Order of the Virtuous Blood side-quest.

Most of the scenery and landscape changes in my game are due to Unique Landscapes mods. I also use Better Cities but I don’t think it adds much of anything outside of the city walls. The particular one for the Road to Bruma itaken just outside of Chorrol is UL Chorrol Hinterland Better Cities Release v2.

That was brave. Not going into Ninendava by himself, but standing up to his Ladies and telling them they can't go in. huh.gif

Cool, did you add Sutch to your game? Please do! At least the base mod from Arthmoor. hehe.gif

Ha ha this made me laugh.

Really like that one shot of them crossing that bridge, with pine needles up close to the 'camera'.

macole and Acadian: yes, almost all my game names are also word plays, and so I think I was having a bowl of Cream of Wheat back in September 2012 when the name struck me. Half-based upon a famous basketball player, and half-based upon hot breakfast cereal. smile.gif

[b]Lopov[/u]: Yes, Vampire Hunting is the same mod Renee Gade III also did, roughly from 2014 until 2018 or so. Although macole brings the quest to better light by taking pics along the way!
