Right. Before I get too this, just a couple of little comments.

I'm posting up the top five stories/authors with their placings. Just the top five. The process for determining which stories won, which made the final cut etc, laid out like this:

We read the stories, and decided upon a top ten. Each judge ( more on that in a second) then picked their favourite five, from those ten stories, and gave the following points to them.

5th place: 2 points
4th place: 4 points
3rd place: 6 points
2nd place: 8 points
1st place: 10 points

We then added the points up, and came up with the top five. This may not have been the perfect judging system, but it was the best I could come up with, and the other judges agreed with me it was the fairest.

Now..... it seems to me, that some people just didn't realise just how much reading the judges had to do. I'm not going to speak for the others, but from my perspective, I work full time, recently as much as 12 hours a day and weekends. This basically meant that I had to shelve my personal life in order to do this, which I did. However, not everybody was able to do this. Outside commitments meant that we were unable to meet our original deadline. Regrettable, but just a fact of life. Certain people's comments, and I have no intention of making this personal, meant that we felt very much under pressure to do it quickly. Out of the five judges, one judge had to drop out, and another was unable to meet the new deadline, that we'd felt we had no option but to set. With their perspective, maybe the results would have been different. Who knows? However, this is the way its panned out, and these results are final. The top five stories will all be getting pride of place in the mod (when its released) and of course, all the entries will be a part of it.

Final point. Stargate mentioned earlier he wanted feedback on his story. I'm not averse to me doing that (again, I will not speak for the other judges) but I do want you to bear one thing in mind. If everyone asks to have feedback posted, again thats a hell of a lot of work you're asking for. I'll do it, but it isn't going to be immediate. Like everything, it'll take time, so if it's something you do want, then let me know, and then be patient. Any feedback will be based upon the criteria I judged. In other words, it won't be like the feedback i post in the fanfic section. I won't be just posting up the positives, so if what I might say will offend you, you're probably better off not asking.

p.s. Now the competition is finished, I've resigned from any further part of the mod, which means Stargazey is the one true leader hubbahubba.gif Any enjoyment I garnered from reading these great stories, and make no mistake, some of them were truly exceptional, has been tempered by events surrounding it. Shame, but...well, thats how it goes I guess.

hehe, yeah i do recognise those days Jon mentioned, I spent an entire weekend catching up with the tales I hadn't yet read, that after and before a 6-day, 50+hr workweek biggrin.gif

and then I found myself unable to decide properly as some of them were simply too long ago, so i decided to read some of the longer ones again, taking me another some hours.

oh well, in the end I was able to make my call. I'll have to admit though, I don't think I'd be too comfortable with posting my comments on the stories here. As i mentioned before I'm no specialist here, unlike Burnt so I don't think my comments would do the authors the good they deserve smile.gif

First I want to thank all the judges for the hard work and all the effort you have put into this.I understand that all of you have spent a great deal of your free time in just reading all the entries. I just hope you think it was worth it!

So a big warm HUG to all of you!!!

Then I must admit I´m utterly flattered of being mentioned alongside with four really professional writers.!....And that despite me being an outlander, not having english as my first language.

OverrideB1 is a well worthy winner, as he is the Master of Words....

I have read all the stories of Override, treydog, Rumpleteasza and mushroom-hunter, and I have but one comment on those stories: Awesome and professional!

So I thank you again and I am very happy to be one of the top 5 here

I, too, want to thank everyone for making this competition happen. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do, out of the top five stories I have only read one, 'The King and I'. Congrats to the winners.

Poor stargazey, all on his own. Time to make more of a commitment, methinks.

As would I, if there's time. No hurry though. And don't be afraid to tear my story apart, if it makes me a better writer then it's worth it.

Well, first of all- thanks everyone for continuing to read. Second- I am very honored to find Trey in such good company- his story is the first I have written- I hope he is not the last.

Congratulations to all the others who placed, heartfelt thanks to the judges, and- most of all- thank you to the folks who spill their hearts out on the page. Writing is fun, it is hard, it is an obsession that takes over your life.

Good work, everyone.
