My characters are all Level 810; and not one of them can solo that Blue Mudcrab! It still kills them repeatedly even with a group helping. My Tank is the only one who can survive the entire fight with him, and even she HAS to go in Tanking gear to survive it. (but the Tank doesn't have the power to kill it solo).

Ha, and I thought that it's just me who sucks at fighting that crab.

QUOTE(mALX @ Oct 16 2019, 05:38 PM) *
What kills you with that Blue Crab is some kind of "AoE" (Area of Effect) = as if he is putting out invisible poisonous gas.

This! Very much this! Shonta Quassan wasn't even close to it and he was already receiving tremendous damage.

QUOTE(mALX @ Oct 16 2019, 05:38 PM) *
If you need Soul Gems; check the Guild Bank; there should be some in there. If not, I'll put some in.

I took some (two or three) soul gems from the bank in my starting days in ESO but yesterday I took five? (not sure) more, because I spent lots of them when fighting the crab.

QUOTE(mALX @ Oct 16 2019, 05:38 PM) *
Also, if you put points into your "Soul" skill line passives and carry empty Soul Gems around with you - whatever you kill will fill those empty ones up; and you will keep your stock of Soul Gems up as you adventure. (you will def need them).

Very useful, thanks!

Take a minimum of 50 Soul Gems. Those soul gems have been in there for years and no one has touched them = feel free to take a stack of 200; it is better to have too many than need one and not have it. And also grab a stack of Empty Soul Gems too; so you can keep your supply up.

Yup, a new player in the guild, when making a new character, should grab 200 each of lockpicks and full soul gems from the guild bank. The more established members can easily replace those. The only reason there aren't tons more in there all the time is for space limitations in the guild bank.

Agreed! And yes, please take all the lockpicks you need 200 at a time; because I have stacks of them waiting to replace the ones in the Guild Bank, lol.

Haha! I just trimmed the bank down to about 5 full stacks of lockpicks and flushed the full soul gems up to two full stacks.

Shonta Quassan was in troubles today after encountering the powerful hagraven, known as the Crow's Mother, so he called Cincy for help. Cincy killed the Crow's mother with ease, while Shonta Quassan admired the powerful Dragonknight, hoping to be as powerful as well one day. After the battle the Argonians danced to celebrate the victory and meeting.

P.S.
I'll take a better screenie next time. tongue.gif Sorry for delays in chat responses, Rader, somehow I turned my chat into a zone mode, then it took me a while to figure out how to talk to you only.

Woot! So glad that Shonta got some assistance. Yup, Cincinnatus is a strong character - glad he was there to help.

Ooh, nice that you got help when you needed it! Awesome! That is a pretty tough fight; she killed Misa a few times too.

To "Whisper" to anyone so no one else can see the conversation but them you can do that in any of these ways:

1. Find their name on the Guild Roster or your Friends List; Right Click on it and choose "Whisper" on the drop down list.

2. If you are standing near them; mouse over them till you see the option to Talk to them. Click on that; and a circle will appear with several options you can choose. Find the one that says "Whisper."

3. If you see their name in the Chat Box; you can Click on their name and it will automatically set you into a private conversation with that person.

The color of the print in the Chat Box should turn into an aqua-blue to show you are whispering.

* White color is Zone Chat = used mostly for people in the surrounding area close to you in case you need help in a dungeon you can call for help from those in your immediate area (good for people who are not in a Guild; or whose fellow Guild-Mates and friends are not online at the time.

By default, Guild Chat is green. You can change that to any color you want - I changed my Chorrolites Guild Chat color to "Hot Pink," lol. That way it stands out really well in the Chat Box, lol.

Yes, I know this, but I had initiated the zone chat at some point, then it took me a while to get back to Cincinnatus only.

Cincy and I are always happy to help egg-kin whenever we can! Shonta will get there one day. No worries on the chat. Honestly, I've only learned some of what I know about it recently myself.

Cincy and I appreciate the compliment. We still have a ways to go to be one of the strongest of this guild, but he is making a lot of progress.

I don't remember how I was able to beat the Crow Mother. It was a long time ago when I was a low-level character and before I understood how public dungeons work. I must have had somebody help me defeat it back then, because I don't see how I would've beat her on my own back then. (Cincy also questioned how an enemy that he clearly killed a long time ago was back from the dead like that, but he just shrugged it off.)

Really good help; and yes = whoever attacks first or rushes the Boss first is the one he will focus on for a good 15 seconds.

** Tip: Be careful not to play with any Ice Staff; because their "Heavy Attack" actually taunts the Bosses to attack you for 15 seconds.

And Critical Hits: If the Boss is focused on another Player; you can get a critical hit on them without them focusing on you; but if you make a critical hit on an un-taunted Boss; they will focus their wrath on you immediately.

Of course = if you are playing solo; this won't matter as much; because you will be their only focus anyway.

By far the biggest thing to report from Cincy's adventures this past week is that he just completed the Summerset DLC and saved all of reality. Opposing Daedric Princes has just become an ordinary Tirdas for our favorite Argonian.

And I've got something to say about something in particular in the DLC:

The Witches Festival is fun, especially killing powerful bosses in groups.

What exactly must one do to gain the attention of the boss during a fight? Hit it critically? For instance, when the battle began, the boss would focus on the first player that attacked it, just like the Crow Mother focused on Cincinnatus the other day. Eventually, all of the bosses would turn at Shonta Quassan at some point and pursue him. laugh.gif We got a bit scared, but obviously we were doing "something right". After a while they'd turn on another.

The most memorable experience was with the Shellcracker. A three of us were along the coast, a player of level 9, another of level 18 and me of level 24. Not a very powerful bunch obviously. Neither of us initiated the fight, I gues we were all waiting for one another. Then my Argonian encouraged himself, rushed ahead and provoked the mudcrab, of course gaining his attention. The other two players immediately joined, but it turned out that there were more of them lurking behind the rocks and they all joined too. It took a while, because we were all low-leveled but we brought it down in the end. The mudcrab killed quite some of the combatants, but fortunately it didn't kill Shonta Quassan again. My Argonian finally got his revenge.

Bosses are finicky with short attention spans. Generally they go after the first one who hurts them. The boss then typically reevaluates things about every 7 seconds, often going for whoever he might consider his threat of the moment - though there is certainly a good deal of randomness in it.

That said, players can 'taunt' the boss to attack them for 15 seconds using certain skills -
- Puncture (and morphs) from the 1 hand and shield skill line.
- Inner Fire (and morphs) from the Undaunted skill line.
- A heavy attack with a frost staff IF you have the Tri-Focus (Destruction staff passive) skill.

Tanks normally do the taunting and try to control the boss' aggro. Other players using taunts are discouraged since it frustrates and interferes with a tank who is purposefully trying to hold aggro on himself. More specifically, if you taunt a boss away from the tank, the tank will waste resources trying to regain taunt. If a boss gets taunted from differing players more than a couple times, they will go rogue for awhile ignoring all taunts. Since a tank's job is to hold aggro, tanks get testy when others taunt the boss. You can usually tell a tank because they generally try to display what they are by showing heavy armor, using a sword and shield on one bar (possibly sword & shield or ice staff on the other) and trying to get in the boss' face.
