Chorrol.com _ Oblivion _ Cyrodiil's Navy

Posted by: SubRosa Jul 7 2010, 03:19 AM

Yesterday I was crossing the bridge at Fort Alessia and saw something strange out in Lake Rumare. It looked like someone on horseback swimming across the lake. I dove in to take a closer look, and sure enough, it was an Imperial Legion rider. How on Nirn he ever decided to go swimming with Mr. Ed I have no idea. He even paused several times to dismount, swim over to mudcrabs, and kill them. Then he would go back to his horse and mount up again (still in the water mind you), and they would swim on. It was the weirdest thing ever. Has anyone else ever seen these maritime patrols? Where was this guy when the Bloated Float was hijacked?

Ooh, thanks for the screenies. I think the only such nonsense I've seen is a Legion Rider patroling inside a giant boulder. I will occasionally see them ride across the Niben, but that sort of makes sense.

I do sometimes see deer diving for clams though! tongue.gif

I've fought MUDCRABS more fiercer than you!

Posted by: SubRosa Jul 11 2010, 10:05 PM

And indeed they have!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion464.jpg is another example of Imperial madness. Apparently this forester is placing a rock under arrest...

Wonderful screenie!

Seems those Forresters like to shoot deer (and sometimes other inaccurate Forresters).

Perhaps a deer wandered into the rock and the Forrester is arresting the rock for hunting deer without the proper license.

Perhaps the Forrester is hunting a deer beyond the rock and the rock is blocking his shot. It would seem prudent then, to arrest the rock for interfering with a member of the Legion in the official performance of his duties.

Now, should the rock chose to resist arrest, I suspect the Forrester may need more arrows to subdue the stony suspect.

Perhaps the rock is in cahoots (I've always wanted to use that word!) with the deer, acting as a diversion while the deer makes good its escape. In that case I believe that the poor beleaguered Forester is well within his rights to detain the offending sedimentary impediment!

Perhaps it is actually the infamous Grey Rock, the well known accomplice of the Grey Fox? Known for stealing dirt from the rich and giving it to the poor across Cyrodiil.

There is an imperial navy but it is only very rarely mentioned , i guess its perceived as a bit trivial .

Anyway its main jobs are around the vvardenfeel / morrowind sea and black marsh .

In morrowind smuggling is a big issue , people / dwarven gear are the big issues , the imperial navy intially solved the problem by beating them in deep water but then they instead used the shallows so the imperials build smaller craft . In black marsh they are working activly to stamp out slave trafficking , although they are having a lot of success the sacarcity of slaves means they are being driven up in price , making them more valuable.

In combat they rely on a troops of archers to kill men on board before light skirmishers go out to ifnish off the stragglers , a mage on board is used to burn sails of fleeing ships or to change the wind to defelct impeding arrows , in extreme heavy warfare light ballistas ( a type of light artillery) are used . A token priest is often on board to see to casulties.

Awesome screenies! laugh.gif

I guess they have to do something in order to fight battles at sea. I mean, the evergrowing mudcrab problem has to be addressed! tongue.gif

Methinks the Imperial Navy could use some lessons from the Guild of Mages. After all, as with many things, there's the hard way. . . or the easy way - http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/Epic%20Buffy/ScreenShot1050.jpg

i tell you they already have a navy , its lore . They dont make an appearance because it would be hard to make sea batlles wouldnt it ?

nono.gif

is this a serious topic ? because if your actually asking if they have a navy than yes they do but it seems we are wittering about buffys blond hair and mudcrabs .

Posted by: Uleni Athram Feb 11 2013, 11:13 AM

Nope, not a serious topic. At all.

Posted by: Acadian Feb 12 2013, 01:33 PM

A glance at the very first post reveals whether this thread is serious or not with stunning clarity.

And talking about Buffy's blond hair and mud crabs is always serious. It is not 'wittering'.

Blimey...Steady on me old exploding fauna friend!...

If you read the first post, this is a joke stemming from an apparently glitched legionaire...

Made me laugh the first time I saw it... biggrin.gif ...

Yes, there be little call to see the navy within the game itself, but I still question the effecacy of said navy when THEY COULDN'T STOP THE DAMNEDABLE THALMOR OFF ANVIIIILLLLL!!!!...*pantpantpant*...

Lore...Pffft...*Starts singing*..."Breaking the lore!! Breaking the lore!!..."
