So the game that was never ever going to get finished just got a demo public beta release. If you don't know what Age of Decadence is, go http://www.irontowerstudio.com/

I had my fair share of fun back with its early combat demo and now I'm probably going to waste the whole weekend on this thing. panic.gif

So far, I haven't got a single favorable thing to say about this game. Or demo. Whatever. And it's not just for the lack of imershun, I simply don't find 5 minute loading periods and messages like "Super VGA graphic adapter detected, switching from 8bit to 16bit color depth" - every single time - amusing.

As for the excessive use of the F-bomb, not impressed either. I'm a Serb. If I wanted to play a game where I get beaten up and stabbed each time I attempt to act hard, I'd just go out to street.

I've been too busy trying to sruvive to notice any excessive swearing. Some of the fights are just that brutal, especially the ones where your side is outnumbered. Tried going with different builds who were almost purely about combat prowess and kept getting my boat handed to me. If not sooner, then no later than at the second Imperial Guards' or Dellar's quest(s).

Determined to make it as a mercenary working for the Imperial Guard, I kept mixing it up. Ended up sacrificing a point in Perception and Strength to get an Intelligence of 8 for some additional skill points. Spent all my points into Block again (except a few that went into Crafting) and suddenly I'm like a wall. And since all weapon skills were at their starting score anyway I could easily switch mid-combat to whatever the occasion needed without losing any combat efficiency. A few extra points in Dodge/Block really makes a huge difference.

Mayhap the final game will be a bit more generous when it comes to places where you can net some skill points early on. The beta only had a handful and if you hadn't played your hand right at creation then you wouldn't be seeing any of those skill points either.

And those damn nets. They never bloody hit.
