Ok.. I see two mmorpg's on the front page.. and I'm sure there are more the further back I go.

So.. I thought I would just make a post on MMORPG's in general..

Which ones have you played?
Which ones do you still play?
Which ones would you like to play?

I dunno if exchanging information is against the rules on here about the actual games and stuff if it is feel free to tell me and I will take it down..

But, I have played: tantra, runescape and conquer online.
I currently play conquer online on Thunder server.. Pretty proud of my Tiger Trojan Named Trigger..

I've played runescape and Guild Wars.

I gave up Runescape a looooooooong time ago, and haven't looked at it since because, quite frankly, it sucks smile.gif
Still play Guild Wars, a lot smile.gif

And there's no other ones that i'd like to play, unless you count the upcoming Guild Wars: Factions smile.gif

I quit runescape recently.. It takes alot of rap as "sucking".. And.. to a point I can't disagree.. but, it does.. or did have certain things that got me addicted to it.

Now.. I'm just looking for a wife on conquer online lol.(not really it would just be nice to get a lvl 130 130 reborn archer hot archer babe as a wife).

Anyway I'm curious how is guild wars? I have done a little "research on it".. Seems like a pretty good mmo.

Great fun, not like your standard MMORPG. One thing i enjoy, but a lot of people seem to dislike, is that you only really interact with other people in the towns, when you leave an instanced world is created for you and your party. I like this, because it means you don't get spawn camping or quest q's, but others seem to feel this means it's not a "real" MMORPG. it's all a matter of taste, really

Well it depends I suppose..

I would love that kinda world.. on the other hand.. if you can't meet people outside towns.. it looses a certain something..

What I would like is maybe a set up likes tales of symphonia.. one standard world.. and fights take place in its own little realm..

I could see the ups and downs of both.

My little rant on mmorpgs is that in the beginning there's a lot of unique goals for the character to get, and that's what gives you the initial addiction, but after a while they start being less worth it and you find yourself hacking up the same monsters for hours on end trying to get to a new platform where you'll get access to some other cool little thing.

One MMO that I did really like was gunz the duel, I also think world of warcraft (what I played) seems to keep the fun going even in the later levels because it continues to add variety.

But of all the MMOs I've played (Knight online, silkroad, runescape, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, the list really does go on forever) none of them have kept the fun going very long, and fall into monotony. If the upcoming huxley didn't charge monthly that sounds like a very ideal game, where battles combine the constant on your toes exhilerating FPS style with the team based work of todays wargames and the levelling and elongated interest points of an MMO.

I've played Lineage II for a while, but, due to lack of free time, I gave it up.

I've played Gunz: The Duel (Which yes, is an MMORPG), I tried the beta for Auto Assault, it was okay, Lineage 2 for a while, WoW for a while, Guild Wars (Which I still play. I mean come on, it's free.) and I've also did Beta for Wish, but unfortunantly that went down the drain. I even did a little Beta for City of Heroes, but then they made it Pay to Play so I never bothered to buy it.

That's about all I can think of.

I truly wanted to have an original and special quote for my signature. Then I remembered that I'm on the internet and there isn't an original quote for me to put. So I just decided I would talk about not being able to find an original quote. Also, there is not such thing as an original quote, because after someone has said it, it's not original.

I've played Runescape (crappiest MMORPG ever) and Guild Wars (don't really play any MMORPGS any more).

I sort of want to play World of Warcraft because all of my friends talk about it at lunch, and I want to be able to talk with them about it.

that's how WoW ensnares people. pretty soon all you'll talk about is instance-runs and such. then no one will understand you besides your fellow WoW addicts...

on topic:
played:
Anarchy Online a long time ago, still has a place in my heart, but too old nowadays
Final Fantasy XI major time sink. put literally months into the game and still wasn't even lvl 50. did a lot of job switching though, had everything but Pld, Drg, and Smn at least to 15, and a lot between 20 and 30/31 gave it up
i played everquest 1 for about 7 hours one night, and descided it sucked.
still play guild wars about once or twice a week, just as a break from Oblivion, CS1.6, and CS:S.

played some of those free ones, knight online, etc. didn't capture my attention.

interesting.

As far as WoW goes.. It never really seemed to pull me in.. I saw Final fantasy XI and it seemed *awesome* like pretty much any mmorpg I ever wanted..

But, 10 dollars a month.. +2 brothers.. who who would end up making me pay for their characters + having to pay an extra fee per player gets kinda steep since I would want 3 classes MINIMUM.. theif, mage and dragoon not to mention my other brother who always thinks he has the "most difficult class" and switches a million times.. is more money then I'm willing to pay.. not even going into the fact at the time our computer would never have been able to play it.

Then it kinda died down.. by the time we actually got a comptuer that would be able to handle it.. and no one really seemed to care anymore..

As for WoW.. I dunno something about it just seemed off..

So.. I ended up sticking to conquer.. which is free.. simple.. and to the point.

But, I do agree about the platform.. your always trying to move up.. and finding out moving up isn't so great.. But, thats kinda where conquer beats other mmo's.. With its system of adding +1 to weapons.. You can say "well I want this weapon".. work to get it.. then improve upon it.. rather then just "oh I got it.. next weapon"..

But, it does get annoying because all you do is kill monsters.. of course.. its far more to the point. You can kill monsters.. or players.. you don't have to do some long drawn out quest to go to the next platform..

I've played Lineage, Anarchy Online, Guild Wars, EVE Online, Delta Force I, II, III and Black Hawk Down, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, D2 of course, and some girlie ones like No One Lives Forever, CatWoman, Alice....but wait, those are single players.

Out of all the MMORPGs I think my favorite is Guild Wars. kvright.gif

I guess I'm an oldy kvleft.gif I still play the old Diablo II and Star Craft. I, in all honesty, dont know why I still play them. I guess it's because WoW costs too much with the monthly payment and all, and I am too lazy to restart games and get good again.

Rainer used to play Runescape, but he stopped playing due to the immaturity of alot of the people there. Which seems to be a vast majority.

This sums it up preety neetly.
And yes, if I had the time, the money and a decent connection I'd also like to give Guild Wars a go - if nothing, then just for the shear pleasure of being in a small, tightly knit team of mercenaries, scorching arround other poor bas**rds with Fireballs and slicing'em with cold steel.

We are starting to get really hooked into Dungeons n Dragons here at our house now ... Cain & I are both playing the 7 day trial and it's looking like we are going to buy the game for his birthday. (Aren't I lucky to get a game bought for me when it isn't my birthday?)

We were discussing the pros & cons between paying for a download game - OR - going out and buying a boxed game. I am in favor of the game ina box - you have it physically, you own it. You often get maps, posters, almost always an instruction manual.
But Cain thinks it's easier to order a download online. He says he thinks that they charge you a certain ammount for the game plus first month online payment.

What do you think? Which way do you guys buy your MMORPG's?

i personally always buy my MMORPG's in the box. It's juss way easier for me because i am really bad with computers and get mixed up on something that screws the game. i think you guys should meet halfway and buy the box online.

Well, that's a good idea. Never thought of that. I'll have to buy it ahead of his birthday then 'cause he is terrible at waiting for things in the mail. You'd think that we in Florida have postage times like they do in England where the mail comes in the morning and the afternoon. Cain checks the mailbox extra times just to make sure the mailman didn't forget something the first time and came back.

hahahah!! tongue.gif
