Chorrol.com _ Fallout Games Discussion _ Victorian Commonwealth: A Raider's Journey

Posted by: TheCheshireKhajiit Jul 29 2017, 06:50 AM

Editor's Note: This publication is copied from a journal found by a traveling merchant on the road somewhere in The Commonwealth. It details the experience of https://i.imgur.com/kCskZb0.jpg, a young Raider woman. The original writings were full of profanity and described behavior of a rather savage nature. We have cleaned up the language and left out certain unsavory details of behavior we deemed too violent, sexual, and sometimes both simultaneously. Still, if you desire to read the original text as it was written, please PM me and I will send you a copy. Despite the author's objectional morals, we found the adventure described in this journal quite riveting. We, the publishers, believe that releasing the entries in a serial format would be most desirable, therefore, we will release the first two entries and then follow up with the rest at semi regular intervals. We hope you enjoy the story. Thank you.

Victoria's Scout Log

October 22, 2287

Finally! After months on the move, we arrived on the outskirts of Boston. Liams Own seems like such a long time ago, and we've done a lot of messed up crap on our trip east south east, but as https://i.imgur.com/zRyThES.jpg likes to say, "that's how you survive in The Commonwealth". It's almost funny. We ended up just like the Raiders that burnt out Liams Own. Not that there's many of us left now. Of the 16 that escaped Liams Own together, only me, Trixie, https://i.imgur.com/zEoxD1s.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/SnZMaAF.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/tpqlCdZ.jpg, and Orson's dog, https://i.imgur.com/R74OpfG.jpg, made it to the outskirts of Boston.

We arrived at an old power line tower on a hill northwest of the city just before full dark. Trash wants to celebrate and is already passing around something foul in an inhaler. Tomorrow Trixie wants me to go on a scouting mission to see if there are any easy targets to raid or structures to make a base of operations it of nearby. Maybe I'll even find some more blue paint for my face! My supply is running low. Man, sometimes I wish I had never seen that blue painted warrior woman in that Grognak comic. I love the look, but finding the paint is hard! Anyway, time to go party! Victoria out.

October 23, 2287

Woke up this morning after our little "celebration" last night and holy crap! I had myself one really weird dream! In it a man was looking into a mirror, his wife standing over his shoulder, and they were having a conversation. Something about a veteran's hall, whatever that is. Everything was really friggin' clean, and the couple looked like they were from the old days, you know, before the bombs fell. I can still see their faces so clearly! Then suddenly the woman walks in front of the mirror and her face transformed into mine! What the hell?! First and last time I do whatever that was in Trash's inhaler! Crap gives you weird dreams! Sometimes I wonder how she functions, being high on that crap all the time like she is.
After shooting the breeze with the crew, I made my way down the https://imgur.com/a/cEfei and crossed the little stream at its base. Found several cool things:
- https://i.imgur.com/vurQTOi.jpg built up on a power line tower surrounded by farmland to the southeast of our hill top camp. Maybe a good place for the crew to "check out" later, but I was looking for a place we wouldn't have to fight for while we gather our strength. Kept my distance for now.

- Slightly north of that, a https://i.imgur.com/deLDXgH.jpg, and oddly enough, it had 4 canisters of purified water and an aid kit at its base and a half buried trunk nearby full of goodies!

- https://i.imgur.com/8DrVX6k.jpg just north of the water tower. Had a https://imgur.com/a/AkhKb there that helped me kill some molerats that ambushed us. He's my dog now, I guess. Gave him some roasted molerat for a job well done.

The building itself has a workshop, weapon and armor bench, barbecue spit, and a Chem production station (boy, Trash is gonna love that!). Threw my sleeping bag down in what was the office, rearranged the storage furniture, and I'm calling it home for now. Hell, it has everything we need!

- https://i.imgur.com/FPFjdnn.jpg on a lake called "https://imgur.com/a/6cWmG" to the northeast of the Red Rocket building. Didn't explore fully because of a https://i.imgur.com/uoY0IsF.jpg hanging around the north side of the area. May come back with the crew later as it has potential to be an excellent base.

- https://imgur.com/a/UCYg5 northeast of Red Rocket. They were all asleep so I tossed a molotov from a rock formation on the south side of the camp that took out two of them. Then I relocated to another rock formation on the north side of the camp and killed the last jerk and his dog with my bolt action rifle. Looted the https://i.imgur.com/f2tHYaL.jpg and returned to Red Rocket.

Well, when I returned to Red Rocket it was dark so I'm hitting the hay now. This PipBoy Trixie took off that Vault dweller we wasted on the road is really helping me with my scouting missions! Very pleased with its performance! This dog is also very smart! In addition to mauling people on command, he can find and pick stuff up! Very useful mutt! Tomorrow I'll head back to our camp under the power line tower and report my findings to Trixie. Hopefully they don't all get wasted tonight. This area seems peaceful, but https://i.imgur.com/SG8IsOb.jpg. Victoria out.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to the next entry.

Blue suits Victoria, she has a psychotic expression on her face in the first pic. Her fellow raiders look badass too.

Yes, I concur with Lopov. Khajiit's new story is fun to read. I like the inhaler-inspired dream most of all, and I hope she finds some blue paint.

Khajiit must send me the unedited version too. The profanity would make her journal even better! Please send it to me! ... Another option would be to just write the story with bad words in it, and let Chorrol's swear filter catch them. I've done that in the past. It would be funny to read with the actual words in there though.

I like Vickie's look, with the blue Furiosa face paint on her forehead, and the Ragnar season 2 hair.

Oh cool, that is the Raider gang that lives by the electrical tower south west of Vault 111.

Grognak FTW!

Love the drug-induced dream of character creation.

Thanks for the positive feedback folks. Khajiit thinks y'all will like 10/24/2287. Discoveries will be made, lives will be crushed! tongue.gif
We are currently sitting at about noon on Oct. 24th, so this one is not sure when the next entry will be out (we have the time scale set to 8, so days are fairly long; may need to adjust that later).

@Renee: Khajiit would be happy to send you the original. Would a PM suffice or is there another way you would like it delivered?

@SubRosa: Those are the Raiders you start with if you choose the "I was with a Raider gang" start with the mod Start Me Up. We've explored Vault 111 and made some interesting discoveries but we haven't gone very far into the MQ to see how they handled things beyond Vault 111.

October 24, 2287

What a friggin' terrible day.

It started like so many others before it. I woke up this morning and after a snack I decided to go on one more scouting mission before returning to the others at the power line camp. I found a shallow area I could cross in the stream that runs on the southeast corner of Sanctuary Hills and followed the opposite bank north, keeping my distance from the old pre war houses. On the northwest corner of the island I came to a steep drop off with another shallow stream to cross. This one was guarded by a trio of bloatflies. Mmm... tomorrow's lunch.

To the northwest of that is a https://i.imgur.com/9XIMi2x.jpg that at first appeared to be home to a Raider and her dog. I circled around and climbed a hill that stood over the structure. From the high ground I easily took out the woman, and her little dog too. When I went into the shelter there was another woman dead on a mattress with an injector of psycho beside her. Really strange. Didn't look like a junkie but the lack of other wounds indicated she OD'd. Took all their things and scouted the area east of there. Killed 3 feral dogs and some scaver who was taking target practice on some bottles set up on posts.

From there I back tracked past the makeshift shelter with the https://i.imgur.com/zdeZ0Zm.jpg in it and followed the stream around to the southwest. Then the path along the stream branched. I could go left over a little wooden bridge and head back to Sanctuary Hills or right up a hill to a https://i.imgur.com/P1xiuyD.jpg with that Vault stuff all over it near a chainlink fence and gate and a bunch of skeletons. I decided to go right.
Further up the track I discovered a Vault door. Guess those skeletons were the unlucky ones that didn't get into the vault. Just by the door there is a small structure with a https://i.imgur.com/jyyTwO8.jpg to open the Vault door. Will go back later after I get my head right and see if I can get into it. Might be some supplies or gear down there.

At the Vault site I found a road that leads back south. When I looked at the PipBoy map, I realized this route would bring me back to the vicinity of the power line camp! I took the road and it wasn't long until, sure enough, the power line tower was in sight through the trees. I killed some molerats on the way but as I neared the camp, the area seemed oddly quiet. No Orson laughing hard at a joke Bagger made, no conversation, nothing. When I finally reached the clearing beside the camp, I understood why. They were all dead.

Wiped out. All of them. Orson, Trixie, Bagger, and Jo were laying https://i.imgur.com/zQI1xlm.jpg, and https://i.imgur.com/ikkGtyu.jpg down the hill by the stream. Who or whatever attacked the camp had friggin' cut her head off! In a daze, I arranged the bodies on top of the hill in a row, dragged Trash's body up the hill, put it in line with the others, and then went and retrieved her head. With all their bodies together (I put Trash's head near her neck. Seemed like the right thing to do), I dropped to one knee, said a https://i.imgur.com/ho4vb6X.jpg, and then left them where they lay. It strikes me now, looking back on it, as odd that their gear wasn't looted. In any case, I am now the only living survivor of Liams Own.

I spent the rest of the day alternately https://i.imgur.com/97VHHgS.jpg, working on some improvements to the structure (like a scaffold that allows me to reach the roof top), and just thinking about what I should do next. Was thinking if I find some nice clothes, I'll go to the farm to the southwest and see what kind of folks are there. Or maybe I should go to that Vault I found earlier and see what's down there. I dunno. Now it's time to sleep. I'll decide in the morning what to do. Victoria out.

October 25, 2287

Well now that I'm on my own, I decided that the first thing I should do is determine whether or not the folks at that farm are likely to attack me. I went to Sanctuary Hills and rummaged around in some of the houses I hadn't explored yet, still keeping my distance from that robot. I know he had to have noticed me when I was attacked by some bloatflies but he didn't come after me. Some of these old robots can be friendly so tomorrow I may try and talk to it. Found a white t-shirt and some tan colored pants in pristine condition in one of the houses. Nice clothes, check.

With my new duds secured I went back to Red Rocket, cleaned the blue paint and grime from my face, bathed in the nearby lake (took some rads but I smell better, haha) and washed and arranged my hair. Put on my new clothes, which surprisingly fit, checked myself out in the mirror I hung above my sleeping bag (holy crap, https://i.imgur.com/BWfkdV9.jpg! Too bad I couldn't hide the scars on my face though), and made my way southwest. It was time for the wolf to meet the sheep.

I approached the farm acting as unthreatening as I could, praying to any wasteland gods listening that the dog behaved himself and didn't start a gunfight. The man there was suspicious at first, but my unthreatening posture and clean cut appearance convinced him I was ok, just as I intended. The guy's name is https://i.imgur.com/B0GHzYD.jpg. He lives there with his wife https://i.imgur.com/6PB6dj2.jpg, and their daughter https://i.imgur.com/aL36hRS.jpg. They have a cat, https://i.imgur.com/zbYlTRA.jpg, and a brahmin named https://i.imgur.com/mkMfTh8.jpg. The animals would be a welcome source of meat if things get hard (though that cat is actually pretty friggin' cute!).

Abernathy told me they grow tatos and melons at the farm, and I noticed they have a water pump too. I took a swig from it and no one seemed to mind (hey, free clean water!). He also told me that they had an older daughter but apparently the dumb girl tried to stand up to some hardcases from an old military base not far from here. Asked me to get a locket back that they took from her corpse. If they turn out to be jerks and I have to kill them all, and the locket isn't worth much, I might even give it back to them. Score some points.

The daughter Lucy needed help picking melons and offered me 4 caps for each one I brought her. I turned on my charm and talked her into 5 caps, all the while wondering just how many caps she had on her and also how lucky this cute young thing got that she's standing here making deals with me and not Orson. The deals Orson made with folks (especially females) weren't usually very pleasant for the person he was making the deal with.

Connie clued me in on some other things too. She buys and sells supplies at Abernathy Farm and told me they eat what they need of their crops and trade the rest in a place called "Diamond City", which is apparently the biggest settlement in the whole Commonwealth. I should probably try to find this place soon and see what kind of services are there. Feeling a little... weird tonight and I should probably have a doctor look at me at some point.

The big structure that serves as the Abernathys' farmhouse has a https://i.imgur.com/DHOSFNj.jpg area that makes a good watchtower. To the southwest I spied some sort of industrial warehouse and to the west northwest is a little https://i.imgur.com/XHIg8dZ.jpg. The cabin seemed the least risky so I checked it out. Nothing but a few bloatflies, a skeleton on a mattress, some assorted junk, and a magazine. There was a tape in a suitcase near the skeleton. Might play it when I get back to RR.

After that I returned home and had a https://i.imgur.com/CPIo5Al.jpg while I collected my thoughts. I tried quitting them but the past few days have really stressed me out! Tomorrow I'll go and try talking to that robot over in Sanctuary Hills. Also, now that I feel confident the folks at Abernathy won't attack me, I'll probe further into the decent sized town to the southeast. After that is scouted and I feel secure, I'll check out what's in the Vault to the northwest. Victoria out.

She mentions killing a scaver as casually like she had just killed a bloatfly. laugh.gif

Are those raiders supposed to die because of some mod scenario or did something in fact attacked them?

Victoria 'disguised' herself really good - not a trace left of her raider brutality.

I wonder for how long will she let Abernathy's at life - probably as long as they'll be useful to her.

Posted by: Acadian Aug 4 2017, 06:57 PM

Aww, sorry Victoria lost her friends. kvright.gif

But, as she says, she does clean up pretty well and this family she came across seems just the right thing for the moment.

Re: the Raiders at the power line
The mysterious God of the Console Command must have visited his wrath upon them biggrin.gif
Leaving them alive posed a narrative problem. You see, while the mod makes them non hostile, they will not interact with you in any meaningful way. Indeed, they will not even respond to you if you activate them. So, it wouldn't make much sense for the crew to rough it on the hill when they could have a much better home at Red Rocket, but with no way to send them there... Yes, Khajiit staged the massacre at the power line camp. This one supposes he could have used the creation kit to "move" them to Red Rocket, but honestly, Khajiit wanted to explore how Victoria reacts when she no longer has Trixie and the others to influence her; let her see that she has options to murdering anyone that gets in her way. Khajiit was partially inspired to do this playthrough based on some of the things our characters can overhear Raiders saying. Things like "It wasn't personal. It was him or me." and "I hope the next one dies clean.". Will she continue down her current dark path or will she regain a bit of her lost humanity and find redemption in helping others? Time will tell!

She's actually quite pretty! Even with the facial scars! Also Khajiit was not trying to make some statement about there being a correlation between "gingers" and evil deeds! laugh.gif

Phew, Khajiit writes a very intense tale today. I totally did not see her camp getting wiped out. Who did such a thing? Or what?

Edit: and yes I agree with the others, she does clean up really nicely. She looks like the result of one of those cheesy 'makeover' shows: Jenny Jones or Ricki Lake, ha ha. No seriously. what a change.

You are really just supposed to use your imagination about who or what killed the crew. The evidence seems to suggest either a technological faction such as the Brotherhood or Synths (because none of the gear was looted; Brotherhood and Synths both have access to far superior weapons, armor, and consumables), or Super Mutants (because they just don't give a crap). But who knows?! Maybe it was a mysterious stranger! The point is that Victoria doesn't and will never know exactly what went down at the power line camp. All she cares to know is that it happened and now she's got to survive on her own or with the help of any strangers she can mooch off of until she's strong enough to betray and take everything from them. Or at least that was her determination when she woke up on October 25th. Who knows if she'll stick to that or not...

Wow, two updates in one day. I would say too bad about Vickies Raider buddies. But well... the truth is the Commonwealth is better off without them in it.

Vick does clean up really good. She even looks respectable. Like Lopov, I wonder how long the Abernathy's will survive having Vickie as their neighbor. She is a lot like Loviatar, who also likes to play nice at first, but only get the lay of the land. Eventually the time always come for dinner... devilsmile.gif

Originally, Khajiit wanted to take the logs back to when Victoria was a 16yr old girl living her day to day life in Liams Own (skipping years in a similar manner to Fallout3's intro). Trixie was the owner of a diner and employed Victoria as a waitress. The others would have been in and out of her daily life. Eventually Raiders attacked the settlement and Trixie managed to lead 15 other people to safety (mostly diner patrons and staff). Then on the road you would've gradually become more and more savage in the means they took to survive. Khajiit believes this would've made them a bit more sympathetic, but in the end, this one deemed it unnecessary.

October 26th, 2287

Went and talked to that https://i.imgur.com/2dJiwlc.jpg at Sanctuary Hills this morning. That thing is friggin' insane! Kept talking like it knew me from before the war! I told it that it must be malfunctioning, ha! It mentioned a man and a child might be hiding nearby but I thoroughly searched the whole settlement and found no one alive. Lucky for them that I didn't find them, if they really were there. Stupid robot. It also said someone in Concord might be able to help me. With what, it didn't explain. In any case, Codsworth (stupid friggin' name, but that's what the damn thing told me to call it) put me onto my next target, after I had checked out that Vault.

https://i.imgur.com/I3yhwy0.jpg. That's where my day got friggin' weird. Ok, so I went back up to the Vault site and pushed the button to open the door. Well it wasn't a door, it was an https://i.imgur.com/EPqqrs4.jpg. Down and down it went, and at the bottom was the real https://i.imgur.com/TXV7PJS.jpg; all cog shaped and with 111 right in the middle. There was nothing alive inside except some radroaches. A bunch of them. Also a lot of skeletons laying about.

Coming off the https://i.imgur.com/hPiFxUb.jpg from the cog door, I saw two small doors; one to the left and one to the right. I took the left hand door which opened into a corridor and another door. That door opened into a longer corridor with a bunch of radroaches and a https://i.imgur.com/QYCOAJ9.jpg that wasn't a skeleton like the others. This one died recently, probably from the roaches. I dealt with the roaches then checked out the corpse.

It was a woman, probably about 30 or so. She had brown hair and was wearing a vault suit like many of the skeletons laying about, only it was in way better shape. At first something really bothered me about this dead lady, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it hit me. This was the same lady that I saw in my dream the night our crew reached the outskirts of Boston! What the hell?! Was my dream actually a vision from this dead lady's past?! Anyway, all she had on her was her vault suit, a gold ring (that I later sold to Connie at Abernathy's), and an audio log. I popped it into my PipBoy and gave it a listen.

The audio log starts with what sounds like a recorded voice over a loud speaker saying something about "cryo stasis suspended", whatever that means, and then a brief pause. Next there is a woman's voice saying "This is the one." followed by a man's voice saying "Open it". You then hear mechanical sounds and hissing like something pressurized is opening. After the thing is opened a man coughs and a baby cries, then the first people try to take the baby from the man, both of whom were apparently inside what was opened. The first man threatens him, the guy still resists, and the next thing you hear is a gun shot. The first people take the baby and leave. The tape ends.

After listening to the tape, I left the corpse where it was and proceeded deeper into the vault, eventually coming to a couple of chambers full of strange freezer pods with frozen dead people in them. In one of the chambers, I found one of the pods open and right adjacent from that one, according to the records on the computer in the room, is the pod that contained the man and baby. Well, the https://i.imgur.com/KrMASMH.jpg. Frozen, and shot dead. Like the dead woman in the corridor, this man was in that dream I had. Poor lady must've seen her husband killed and baby snatched. Man, that's some messed up crap.

Well, I left the pods containing the dead people alone as it seemed like bad juju trying to get into them to search for valuables, and after I was done looting what little there was to loot in the vault, I went back to Red Rocket, figuring that was https://i.imgur.com/I3nXPvq.jpg. Besides taking the aforementioned trip to Abernathy's to sell the gold ring I found on the woman's corpse, I patrolled the area near the Raider camp I took out on the 23rd to make sure they didn't have friends return. Caught one Raider jerk snooping around near where I stacked the bodies but killed'm pretty quickly. Tomorrow I'll investigate Concord and see what's there.

Victoria out.

Lol, there was a bit of weaving going on there. There is a certain NPC who uses chems (read: drugs) to get visions. Visions of the past, present, and future. Apparently in this "lore" it is believed others possess this ability too, when under the influence of chems.

It is neat to see Vault 111 from the perspective of an outsider, trying to figure out what happened there. Sort of like Adrian Monk piecing together the clues to a case. Except with much fewer phobias.

Yes. Victoria now has a quest in the PipBoy telling her to report the kidnapping. Khajiit is guessing that she can do this in DC, but she couldn't really care less.

That does not make sense to me. Report the kidnapping? To who? People are literally killed and eaten by monsters every day in the Commonwealth. Who really gives a crap?

Yeah, guess it's just a way for "do gooders" or the curious to do the main quest. Khajiit is guessing that Victoria won't get to progress very far into faction quests, should she decide to leave her "lone wolf" life behind and join one of those. Minutemen would probably suit her better as Brotherhood is a bit too rigid, and she probably won't even see the Institute besides the attacks by Synths, and she couldn't care less about saving robot people. At the moment however, there is no evidence that Victoria will ever totally leave the Raider lifestyle behind. Even when she helps people, it's always with an eye for what she gains by doing so or to gain their trust to make betraying them easier.

Wow, she saw that lady from her dream? That's spooky. Sucks that she had to sell the woman's ring, but I guess that's how life in the harsh land of the Commonwealth is. sad.gif

Off-topic, but I was looking at some old posts in Beth's older Skyrim forums just for amusement, and was surprised to see Khajiit has been posting since way back before 11/11/11! I didn't know that this one has been around for so many years!

What a strange visit to that vault.

Acadian, you don't know how spooky it is finding some of these vaults, especially the uninhabited ones. ohmy.gif I remember Cho Zenwahn found Vault 94 (I think) which had nothing but corpses inside. I thought it was creepy, but he wanted to thoroughly explore the place, just to have a place to rest, and also it was jam-packed full of supplies. It is interesting though that Bethesda thought to add places like this, full of nobody alive, but lots of lootable things.

You ever consider bringing Buffy into Fallout? I think she'd have a blast (pun) with energy weapons and grenades.

Yes, Khajiit joined Bethsoft in Sept. of 2009, according to their records. Back then I was mainly trying to get help understanding mods for TES3: Morrowind. I was playing Oblivion and Fallout3 on Xbox 360. Seems like half a lifetime ago!

Khajiit agrees! She might have to go through a racial transformation during the interdimmensional transport, but she would remain unchanged otherwise tongue.gif

If I get this correctly, you're using an alternate start so two dead NPCs are actually the parents of the supposed protagonist?

The screenie with the frozen dead guy is creepy.

I also hope that Victoria won't leave her career of a raider behind, we need some bad galz too. evillol.gif

Well the dead person in the corridor killed by roaches represents the vanilla player character. The dead person in the Cryo pod is the vanilla PC's spouse. Khajiit would go into more detail but it would be spoilerific. Suffice it to say, the events concerning the people in Vault 111 were fairly tragic, but while she realizes how messed up it is, Victoria really doesn't care about what happened there. With the vault thoroughly looted, its on to Concord for Victoria!

We'll get the Concord area stuff out of the way and then it'll be up to Victoria on where she goes from there. Maybe she'll cut across the northern part of the map and find the sea, or perhaps she'll visit Diamond City. So many options!

I'm sure that FO 3 & 4 are great games. I can imagine Buffy might be a sniper if she ended up there. My love is for medieval fantasy though and there is plenty of that to enjoy for now though. tongue.gif

Honestly not sure when the next entry will get out. We've got a really big moral dilemma coming up that will set the tone for a good portion of the rest of the game. Khajiit is exploring different angles to it. Definitely want to do what's right for Victoria.

This is going to be a long one, log!

Today, Victoria conquered Concord! It was a busy day with lots of fighting. First thing I did was climb the little ridge northwest of town and https://i.imgur.com/xPVUtUy.jpg that part of town for fools to kill. There were none in the immediate area so I entered the town and got some goodies from a ruined house. That's when it sounded like all hell broke lose further into town.

Cutting through the buildings, I came to Concord's https://i.imgur.com/0XV3KoW.jpg and saw https://i.imgur.com/FB54qNb.jpg attacking a https://i.imgur.com/ZYGG2J5.jpg on the balcony of a building at the end of the street. I assaulted the Raiders from the rear, didn't want them shooting my ass, and was about to pop the guy on the balcony when he called down and begged me to help him get some folks out of the building. Apparently there were more Raiders inside. He turned and went back inside and, thinking I might could profit from the situation, I decided to clear and loot the rest of the town first, then if the people were still alive when I was done, I'd make them pay me for my gun.

I looted the other buildings (two of which had some https://i.imgur.com/JbEIHHS.jpg arranged in really strange ways; not sure https://i.imgur.com/OUJYI81.jpg was going on there) and then checked out the sewers, fighting some molerats and a mirelurk while I was down there. In a sealed off area of the sewers, I could hear what sounded like a large creature's raspy breath. I decided not to investigate that further thinking whatever it was, it was best left alone. I'd find out how right I was later.

With the town looted and the gear dropped off at Red Rocket, I stopped for a smoke. It was afternoon. I went back to the building where the man was. Trixie taught me to never use the front door if I could help it so I explored around the building trying to find an alternate entrance. There is a crashed aircraft, a Vertibird as I'd later be told, on the roof of the building. It's tail section hangs over part of the neighboring https://i.imgur.com/V0b3Wyu.jpg. I climbed the stairs inside the church up to its bell tower, jumped down to the main roof, and with some acrobatics managed to get onto https://i.imgur.com/nfGAmZO.jpg. https://i.imgur.com/AX2zq0D.jpg had caved in the roof of the big building, exposing a door to the interior. There was a minigun still attached to the craft, and by the door to the interior was a full set of power armor! Score! After these discoveries, I snuck inside the big building, carefully opening the door.

The building turned out to be a museum. In its main room, a gun https://i.imgur.com/iYegvY0.jpg was raging between funny hat jerk and the Raider crew. I had entered the building on the third floor, above and behind the Raiders, so taking the ones out in the main room was cake. I found some other Raiders in the side rooms and https://i.imgur.com/xFvlC9q.jpg with my https://i.imgur.com/73a0oZz.jpg. In the basement I also found a fusion core I could use for the power armor on the roof! With the Raider threat ended, I climbed the stairs to meet Funny Hat.

Funny Hat, who introduced himself as Preston Garvey, had a https://i.imgur.com/KzGftYj.jpg with him. A pitiful lookin' lot to be sure. They were from Quinzy which was destroyed and they traveled here intending to settle in Concord. That plan was abandoned when the Raider crew showed up. And there were more of them on the way. A small frickin' Raider army. I told Garvey he owed me for the help and the jerk sarcastically said he would pay after the Raiders in town were dealt with. Not wishing to fight an army of Raiders alone, I accepted his deal.

Garvey and a big dude named Sturges laid out a plan to use the power armor and minigun in the fight, but I chose to simply snipe from the rooftop. I went to the very top peak of the museum's roof, and Garvey took up his former position below me on the balcony. I then picked out a Raider with white hair, and popped him. The others recklessly charged the building but they were easy enough to end. We killed maybe 10 of them when there was a loud roar coming from a sewage access hatch. A deathclaw burst from there and started tearing the remaining Raiders apart, and then turned its attention to us after the Raiders were no more. It couldn't reach us on the roof though. I put about 5 or 6 rounds from my bolt action rifle into its head and https://i.imgur.com/StoJY6i.jpg. Victory!!

Garvey went back inside the building but I popped the fusion core into the power armor, got in, and jumped off the roof, the impact from the landing shook the ground! The street was a scene of https://i.imgur.com/3rvm15O.jpg. There were so many dead Raiders laying around, some barely recognizable as humans after what the deathclaw did to them. I over encumbered my power armor with their gear twice over, but with the armor's reinforcements I at least would not hurt myself getting all of the stuff back to Red Rocket. It was 11pm by the time I got the loot back home so I resolved to go back to the museum in the morning. If Garvey and them are still there, they better cough up some kind of payment!

Victoria out.

Oh cool, was Godzilla down there in the sewers? I never thought to go down there before clearing out the Museum. Nor did I ever think to go in the church first and jump down onto the museum roof to get the armor either.

Awww, Vicky didn't go down in the street and slug it out womano-a-deathclawo with Godzilla? For shame!

1. Well, Khajiit feels Raiders are a lot like wolves. When running with a pack, a wolf can be vicious and aggressive but when alone they tend to be a lot more cautious, even perhaps bonding with humans. Of course, some are rabid also, and will always be vicious. Victoria is without her pack, so while She is being careful about who, when, and where she fights, she is still very much a wolf. Believe this one when he tells you that Victoria will be looking out for weakness in any community she comes into contact with.

2. Yes. It was the room with the chain on the inside of the door connecting to the fenced in area with the dead Brahmin and mirelurk. If you go in there after the Battle of Concord, there is a hole in the chainlink fence that's not there if you go before.

3. Waste of resources. Power armor gets damaged, bullets and fusion core are used up, and possibly medical supplies too when she got injured (keep in mind we play on Survival so the damage we take and deal out is greatly increased).

Lol, it was fun doing that part in a different order! Khajiit wishes Beth would implement a climbing system in their games. Nothing like Assassin's Creed where you can scale the wall of a big building, but something simpler à la Dishonored where you can jump and pull yourself up onto ledges. The leap from the church roof to the Vertibird tail is fairly treacherous with the current system.

Posted by: Lopov Aug 26 2017, 08:53 AM

Victoria's been involved in some heavy action!

I like armor a lot, from what I understand, armor in FO4 can be combined by several pieces?

The deathclaw finished what the wolf started. evillol.gif One more question - is the guy with the funny hat killable? I mean, is it like in New Vegas where you can kill anyone and as such fail quests, or are NPCs in FO4 essential?

Not without mods and a certain line added to the .ini . Khajiit really hates this about important characters. This one gets that the world is really dangerous for NPCs, and protected status (can only be killed by the PC) works fine for them. Why do they have to make important characters unkillable? If Khajiit makes a conscious decision to kill an important character, then he should be able to do so and live with the consequences (unfinished quests, etc.).

Not a lot of action today.

Woke up and made my way back to the museum. When I went through the front door, https://i.imgur.com/OuXTLi4.jpg were gathered near the entryway. They apparently decided to spend the night. Garvey was trying to act all buddy buddy but I told him straight up that they meant nothing to me. Despite this, he did cough up some caps and some fusion cell ammo. The old lady with them gets "visions" whenever she gets high off chems. I kept it to myself that I saw something once too after taking the chems Trash had.

After talking with Garvey and them, I went about my business looting the rest of the museum. Meanwhile they decided that https://i.imgur.com/ZjaFDkg.jpg. Now that really pissed me off! I was planning on using that as a main base if I ever got a big enough crew! Garvey did invite me to join them, so I decided to bide my time and see if they had any useful information about creating infrastructure for settlements that might come in handy later.

With the loot from the museum safely transported to Red Rocket, I went to Sanctuary Hills to see what was going on. Garvey was strutting around like a big shot while the big guy Sturges hammered on stuff. The others wandered around aimlessly. Talked to Garvey again and he unwittingly put me onto my next raiding target, a settlement called Tenpines Bluff. I'll have to check it out tomorrow. He also said Sturges needed help getting the settlement up and running so I put on my "helpful" face and went to see him.

Sturges needed help with a lot. First he asked me to put some beds in one of the houses. I threw down some old ratty sleeping bags I found in the other houses. Next he wanted a water source and told me how to make a https://i.imgur.com/r7Kr4dO.jpg. This is good! Now I could put one in at Red Rocket! Food and defenses were next so I put in some additional crops with https://i.imgur.com/ZqX9VEA.jpg tending them, slapped up some shoddy guard posts and assigned https://i.imgur.com/bbBYEug.jpg as a guard. When it comes time to kill them all, these "defenses" won't be an issue.

Having learned all I could from them, I went back to Red Rocket. By that time it was sun down. I put in a water pump of my own and filled any empty bottles I had with clean water. Tomorrow I'll go check out Tenpines. That big satellite station that Abernathy told me about is in that direction too, so I'm going to rest up. Should be a lot of fighting tomorrow.

Victoria out.

That is similar to how it went with Loviatar. Except with her it ended about half way, with her telling Garvey to get stuffed. She did find Tenpines Bluff on her own. She ate the settlers there. A minute later a caravan showed up, and she bought a shipment of ballistic fiber from them. So it was a happy time for all. smile.gif laugh.gif

Plus the do-gooders are far too trusting. Khajiit suspects their "essential" status is mostly to blame for that, but we shall deal with that soon enough!

October 29th, 2287

Got a lot crap done today.

Headed northeast early this morning in the direction of Tenpines Bluff, which Garvey so graciously gave me the coordinates to yesterday. Heh heh, foolish man. Went past the little Raider camp I cleaned out on the 23rd, up the hill, and came to a road. Just beyond the road looms the satellite station, https://i.imgur.com/j5TWDg9.jpg.

When I arrived on the scene, a Raider and his mutt were fighting two bloatflies. I let the Raider and mutt kill the flies, then I popped the dog and Raider, who were up on a catwalk and balcony that leads to a utility shed near the dish. A second Raider was in the bunker containing the entrance to the underground part of the facility, with his friggin' back turned to window! Can you believe that?! He took a sword to the side of the neck and that was that for the https://i.imgur.com/UwwyCm3.jpg defenders of Olivia. Later I'll return and clear out the jerks in the facility proper. See what Abernathy will give me for recovering that stupid locket.

I looted the utility shed up on the catwalk and noticed some molerats scurrying about not too far from the facility's ruined chainlink fence. Through my bolt action's scope I noticed flashing lights on one. The flashing lights of a land mine. Some sick jerk strapped a mine to a molerat! I shot the one with the mine on it when the others were near it, and the resulting explosion took all but one out in one shot. The other went running up the catwalk and I gunned it down with my 10mm.

Just east and a bit south of Olivia I came to a little junkyard with about 4 feral mutts sniffing around. Once they were dead, I searched the junkyard, found some caps and little else of note, then headed straight east towards Tenpines. The PipBoy map showed it being not far over the next hill, so I sunk down into my stalking stance. Stepping carefully so as to avoid making noise, I crested the hill and looked upon Tenpines Bluff.

The settlement at https://i.imgur.com/us6KPv8.jpg was a pitiful sight. It consisted mostly of farmland for the growing of tato plants, with a small, dilapidated shack for the settlers' home and an old ruined house on the fringe of the settlement. There was a workbench right behind the shack, a cook fire out in front of it and a water pump not far from there, so I could see the site had potential. While I was still some distance away, I watched the settlement through my bolt action's scope. Saw just two settlers and when I was confident there were not any more, I carefully moved into position.

There are moments just before a settlement falls when the thrill almost becomes overwhelming. Your pulse quickens, your vision becomes more focused, and you get this feeling like nothing can stop you! The two settlers at Tenpines died without a fight. The https://i.imgur.com/Rp3VTAm.jpg was tending to the tato plants and he took a shot to the head. https://i.imgur.com/OiqrgTf.jpg, who was in the shack, had gotten up to investigate the gunshot and was shot through the abdomen, the bullet destroying her spine. With just two well placed shots, Tenpines was mine! Having dispatched the former residents, I moved in to see what I was working with.

I had a lot of daylight left so after I spent some time looking around Tenpines, I headed southeast and crossed a small chasm made by a railroad cut through via a shaky rope bridge. Once across, I killed a feral mutt and continued southeast to a https://i.imgur.com/YrJU4bs.jpg. Straight ahead was a huge https://i.imgur.com/vp6V3LE.jpg. Just before, and to the right of the aircraft wreckage was an outpost of some sort accessed by a fallen segment of elevated highway. The top of the ramp was guarded by a turret so I popped it and the spotlight to its left with my rifle. With that threat eliminated, I sneaked my way up the ramp.

The interior of the outpost is the lower deck of the elevated highway and was guarded by two mercenary types armed with laser weapons. I took them out with my rifle and then found a lift that went to the upper deck. As soon as it cleared the top, I was confronted with a sniper who was patrolling the top level. Luckily he had his back to me so I was able to pop him before he could turn around and shoot me. After clearing the outpost, I looted it and hauled the stuff back to Tenpines, and called it a day.

Well log, it's been a busy day and I'm exhausted. Tomorrow I'll demolish the shack and ruined house here at Tenpines and start building a structure of my own. This is going to make an excellent outpost!

Victoria out.

Nope, it's part of a mod called Eli's Armor Compendium. Adds a bunch of awesome clothes that fit in quite well with the post apocalyptic setting. A lot of the random settlers and scavers will spawn with these clothes.

Yeah, it's legit crazy! Someone put a mine on a molerat!

Under Victoria's supervision, Tenpines shall be transformed into a fortress of dread!

There are at least two places with mine-garbed molerats. Olivia is one. There is another in a ruined parking garage in downtown Boston, where a scavenger has semi-tamed them and uses them as guards.

October 30th, 2287

Spent today working on Tenpines. Demolished the shack and ruined house and started constructing a tower near the site of the ruined house. I also tossed the settler bodies into a nearby ditch. https://i.imgur.com/upK6ZPG.jpg, haha! Maybe they'll eat that and leave the friggin' tatos alone. Tomorrow I'll finish building.

Had an unwanted visit from a trader today. Guy named https://i.imgur.com/FZ1fnhS.jpg and his two caravan guards and pack brahmin surprised me while I was working on my tower. Luckily I had changed into something with pockets for work so I wasn't in my Raider gear. I put on my "friendly face" and greeted them cheerfully and browsed his wares. Nothing worth spending the caps on. After chatting a bit I went back to working on my settlement, all the while hoping they didn't notice the two dead folks in the ditch nearby. When they were rested up, https://i.imgur.com/rmN63wK.jpg. Jerks didn't even offer to help me, can you believe that crap?! If they come back, they're dead.

Victoria out.

Victoria is following the old Celtic tradition of leaving the dead unburied after a battle, as a sacrifice to The Morrigan.

Vicky did not buy any ballistic fiber from Lucas? I think he is the only merchant who sells shipments of it.

Nope. No Ballistic Fiber. Didn't have the funds. Also, Nukapedia says KL-E-0 in Goodneighbor sells the fiber shipment.

Lol, no she did that the day before! She literally spent a few minutes setting stuff up then had to do a lot of waiting to simulate build time, because building is an instantaneous thing in Fallout4. She took 2 days setting up Tenpines.

October 31st, 2287

The old folks used to say that October 31st is something called Halloween. Before the war that ended society as people knew it, kids used to dress up in costumes and go from house to house extorting candy from the owners in exchange for not playing pranks on them. The old folks also said that even older folks thought that Halloween was a time when the border between our world and the realm of the dead thinned, allowing for spirits to visit the living. I hope that bunch over in the mass grave over there don't come calling, haha... ha...

.... Errr, yeah, so I got my tower built here at Tenpines, which is a wonder given how many distractions I've had today. It started this morning when I was interrupted from my work by a few Raiders who decided to attack. The dog took the brunt of their attention while I was working on the porch of the tower but wasn't seriously hurt. I quickly dealt with them and https://i.imgur.com/SIpjrqs.jpg in that ditch. Then I got back to work.

A little bit later I took a break to hunt a radstag that wandered into the area. Hey what can I say, food can become scarce out here so you should take some game when an opportunity arises. After killing the deer, I returned to Tenpines, and https://i.imgur.com/NbGtuuk.jpg sitting with his back to me. Yep, that's right, Lucas Miller returned while I was off hunting. Strange thing was, his guards were no where around. Seizing the opportunity, I crept up behind him, and buried my sword in his neck. https://i.imgur.com/hbREl5o.jpg.

With that bit of business concluded, I got back to work on my tower. I was working on the https://i.imgur.com/tvQLoCW.jpg when I heard voices outside so I peeped around the door and saw that Miller's frickin' guards and the brahmin came back looking for their boss. So many distractions! I tossed a molotov at the closest guard but it landed a bit too far behind them only doing minimal damage. The dog then attacked them and I opened up with my bolt action, while the brahmin hauled ass over the hill to the west. After the guards fell, I chased down the brahmin and put it down in a large washout on the other side of the hill. The washout was so large that https://i.imgur.com/289F2Ll.jpg, and so I did after I finished work on the tower.

Well, it's been a long couple of days but I finally have https://i.imgur.com/6wdWqVo.jpg to camp out at in this part of the Commonwealth. Thanks again Garvey! Ha! Anyway, I guess tomorrow I'll go check out that plane wreck over by that ruined overpass and see what's over there, but for now it's time for sleep. The https://i.imgur.com/85tDq0M.jpg is going to be a big improvement to sleeping in the open.

It's easy to forget that Victoria came from a civilized yet backwater settlement. The old folks there would have told stories of the good ol' days.

Lol, Khajiit should have included a pic of the view from the tower. Tenpines is on a high bluff (its original settlement name is Tenpines Bluff) that looks over the area. This one built the shack on stilts to give a commanding view of the area, like a watch tower.

Yes, Victoria killed Lucas and his people. Raiders raid and take what others have by intimidation, or failing that, violence. Only what Lucas and Co. had wasn't what he normally sells, just what they were wearing and fighting with and little else. Even the brahmin only had some meat, hide, and a couple of items of random junk.

Also, the original entry for Oct. 31st. had a cannibalizm comment in it. A shame it got erased.

Sure, it's a bit wonky. To do the main quest, you basically visit 111 and find a holotape with an audio recording of the kidnapping scene and then you get a quest telling you to go "report the kidnapping" (this one assumes it sends you to Diamond City). Khajiit hasn't run into anything game breaking yet (just some weirdness with Codsworth thinking you are his previous owner; you can tell him he's crazy though), though honestly Victoria is going to avoid the MQ like the plague. She simply doesn't care about some kidnapped brat.

November 1st 2287

Did a lot of exploring today. Investigated that https://i.imgur.com/kOnePDd.jpg first. A Raider crew and some Scavers had a shoot out over the https://i.imgur.com/MKO2aNj.jpg so I popped the survivors and took what loot was there for myself. Not a bad haul. There was a bunch of guns and ammo around the plane and the various suitcases held goodies like clothing and armor. Too bad I killed that jerk Miller. Could’ve made a bunch of caps selling him this junk. Ah well, you live and learn right? May have to institute a policy of letting merchants live, going forward.

After I hauled all that loot back to Tenpines, I proceeded to explore the area south and a bit west of the plane crash and discovered a vast https://i.imgur.com/YPQaeBt.jpg. In the old days before the nuclear war, people would bury their loved ones in https://i.imgur.com/2FqRJZB.jpg when they died. Most people nowadays are lucky if they get such treatment. The graveyard has a couple of https://i.imgur.com/4daOIhL.jpg and https://i.imgur.com/ZLarDYI.jpg. Someone has been here but have long since abandoned it. They even left a strange looking https://i.imgur.com/FGpuFvQ.jpg that is leaning against the wall of the tomb shelter. May have been the person whose https://i.imgur.com/5H0Axuv.jpg I found draped over a tombstone, beer bottle still clutched in its bony fingers.

Behind that tomb with the workbenches is a wrought iron fence that actually encircles the graveyard, and through an opening in the fence you can access a https://i.imgur.com/GhkYZ5W.jpg that contains a few containers and a working stove, as well as a workshop. Might set this place up as a base and dig up some these graves to see if any of the dead were buried with valuables. They won’t be needing it anymore, and if it can help me, why not?

I took the road west of the graveyard and followed it north under the elevated highway, found a little https://i.imgur.com/v8aGyW3.jpg, the Scaver dead, and a little loot. I continued north and eventually came back to Tenpines where I dropped off what I got from the graveyard and Scaver camp. I then proceeded northwest past the satellite station and found a https://i.imgur.com/7EpSZVg.jpg. I left it alone for the moment and continued northwest. Then I came upon an old https://i.imgur.com/2ASG2xp.jpg.

The robot junkyard was devoid of any sign of life at first. I found a mininuke outside the fence behind some tires and then walked through the opening in the fence surrounding the place. There is only one building, a small https://i.imgur.com/B3kAVlJ.jpg to the left as you enter the yard so I went in there first and found some useful odds and ends and a computer. I read some of the logs and learned a sentry bot of some sort was brought here before the war. There was even a holotape with the programming commander ds for the bot in the computer. I took it and went outside.

A quick search of the junkyard turned up a napalm tank for a flamethrower weapon, a fusion core, and the real prize, a Fatman launcher! The sentry bot also stood in the yard like a metal statue. Silent. Waiting. I popped the bot’s control tape into my pipboy and activated its startup command. It hummed to life and I next turned on its patrol functions. The https://i.imgur.com/g7MNKQI.jpg then proceeded to roll around the junkyard, its reactor humming with power. Some mole rats suddenly sprang from the ground, perhaps stirred up by the vibrations of the big machine rolling around. https://i.imgur.com/tPgEUHu.jpg. Between myself, the bot, and the dog, we made short work of the molerats.

With the goods from the junkyard secured, I headed back to Tenpines. Along the way I popped the fusion core into the power armor I passed by earlier and hopped in. I stomped back home, and as I passed by the satellite station, I was reminded of the raider threat brooding in its depths, and of the promise of reward from Abernathy if I can find the locket there.

Well, I’m back home now, about to lay down for the night. I’ve made up my mind that now is the time to end the Raider threat at Satellite Station Olivia. I strike in the morning.

Victoria out.

Yeah, she could’ve used Miller to unload some stuff on, but at the time, she was worried about him discovering her recent... indiscretion with the Tenpines settlers and causing trouble.

Victoria did not see Persephone, but she swears she could feel a presence watching her in the graveyard...

Her facepaint was actually inspired by some images of Native Americans in warpaint. Khajiit just did it in woad blue to go along with her Celtic Warrior theme.

Yep, he was walking in the graveyard and tripped over a root and fell onto the tombstone. Poor guy thought a corpse had reached up out of the ground and tried to grab his leg and he died of fright as soon as he started to fall.

Strangely, Khajiit usually gets the one from Concord first.

You mean the Power Armor in the Vertibird pic? If so then yes it is. Power Armor in Fallout4 is not a set of armor you wear like it is in Fallout3/New Vegas. It’s more like a very small mech that you climb into. During the prerelease period over at the old Bethesda Softworks forum, many of the fans of Fallout1 and 2 claimed that this was more like how those games portrayed Power Armor. You have a basic, stand alone frame which is like a skeleton, then you attach various armor pieces to it (examples: T-45, T-51, even a junky Raider version). The system is highly modifiable and allows you to mix and match armor styles, if you want. And of course every armor piece is upgradable with different components that serve different functions.

Posted by: Lopov Nov 21 2017, 06:32 PM

Thanks for explaining. goodjob.gif

Power armor is my least favorite kind of armor I've ever seen in any video game, that's why you'll never see my characters using it, but I couldn't refrain from asking why it's "standing".

Yeah, Khajiit wasn’t fond of it in Fallout3/New Vegas either. This one thinks it’s much more appealing in this tiny mech form.

November 2nd, 2287

Some days have a way of just making you think “Hey, maybe there’s a better way of doing things. A better way to just... be.”. Today was one of those days.

I set out early this morning just after dawn and stomped my way to Satellite Station Olivia in the power armor frame I found nearby. The surface there was quiet so I parked the armor outside the door to the facility’s interior. The armor frame’s enhanced strength would help with hauling all the loot that awaited me inside the station back to Tenpines. Climbing out of the armor, I paused just beside the door to the bowels of the facility and https://i.imgur.com/52dE9d9.jpg. After that, I opened the door and plunged into the Raider den.

There was no guard at the door, just a https://i.imgur.com/5homOb6.jpg that led down into the ground. At the bottom of the stairway was a laser beam that, when broken, would set off a https://i.imgur.com/FUQBg0w.jpg set on the ceiling, no doubt part of the original defenses the prewar folks installed. Lucky I didn’t go rushing into the damn room. I disabled the trap and entered into the https://i.imgur.com/SJWqFxA.jpg.

What the hell were these Raiders thinking?! The entrance was completely unguarded. I waltzed right into the middle of the big room and it wasn’t until I reached an exit into a hallway that I heard footsteps of a patrolling Raider approaching. Crouching behind a corner, I waited until the footsteps were right up on me and then I struck. Using the Raider’s momentum, https://i.imgur.com/tukfaH2.jpg. She was so shocked she couldn’t scream out and just, died. One down.

I stepped into the hallway and followed it to a corner. Peaking around it, I saw a Raider in a doorway that exits the hallway to the left. When he turned his back I crept up behind him cut him down, dragging his corpse into the bathroom the door opens into. Next I heard a dog growling and waited for it to draw closer before rushing it. I slashed it a few times before hitting something that finally https://i.imgur.com/6A7JRGC.jpg. Three down.

The hallway opened up into a massive https://i.imgur.com/O444NkS.jpg, originally for controlling and monitoring the operations of the satellite station. Not wanting to expose myself on the catwalks above the room I back tracked to the office area and found another stairway to the bottom level. At the bottom of those stairs is a room with an exit into the control room to the left, and a doorway to a locker room straight ahead, where a Raider was patrolling. I crept forward and surprised the Raider as he was walking back in front of the doorway. https://i.imgur.com/BnUaeIo.jpg just like his friend upstairs. Four.

The locker room has an entrance to a maintenance area to the left as you walk into it from the room after the stairs. I sneaked to the corner and peaked around it spotting 4 more Raiders including the boss, a big gal carrying a frickin’ minigun. Stepping back, I placed a mine right inside the doorway and then readied a molotov. Next, I edged to the right around the corner, aimed for a doorway to the left down the maintenance area, and threw the molotov so that two of the Raiders were https://i.imgur.com/B5Lb8Yx.jpg when the bottle broke. Six.

Having thrown the molotov, I then retreated back through the locker room and hid behind the corner that adjoins the room after the stairs and the locker room. As expected, the boss came charging into the locker room, minigun blazing, and https://i.imgur.com/vReGPLh.jpg. https://i.imgur.com/IVIMrOB.jpg and upon further inspection of her corpse after I secured the area, https://i.imgur.com/WQEEqvm.jpg. That left one Raider remaining alive in the maintenance area and he came charging in after the explosion. I had https://i.imgur.com/ziy40YB.jpg and dropped him as he foolishly stooped down to pick up the boss’s minigun. Eight.

With that jerk’s death, the Raider threat at Olivia was eliminated. I found no other Raiders there, just a storage room with some radroaches. Just in front of the door to the storage area with the roaches, I found a tool box containing some tools (big frickin’ surprise), as well as Abernathy’s locket. I gathered up all the loot from the facility and hauled it all back to Tenpines. After that I headed off to Abernathy’s to return the locket.

The trip back to Abernathy’s was uneventful, which was good because I had already gone to a lot of trouble to get the stupid locket. https://i.imgur.com/4ymdtHV.jpg when I told him I had the locket. I think he almost cried, the baby. Then the man did something that both shocked and disturbed me a bit. As a reward for getting back the locket, Abernathy basically made me a member of his family, giving me free reign to take whatever I wanted at anytime and to make the place https://i.imgur.com/7F9LncC.jpg if I wanted. His wife is also giving me discounts and better rates when I sell her something. This was the first time since my crew was killed that people offered to take me in. And it was good people, not a group of killers and thieves.

Confused and a bit shaken, I scouted out an old https://i.imgur.com/9REYcNo.jpg, killing the three zombies that skulked there hoping it would help clear my head. It didn’t. Afterwards, I walked back to Red Rocket to think about the odd turn of events of the day. What am i going to do? Should I quit this Raider life and settle down? Or should I go down there tomorrow and just slaughter the lot of them? More for myself if I do that. I’m going to sleep on it and decide in the morning.

Victoria out.

That laser beam 'trap' wasn't much of a trap; looks way too obvious, and then you can just jump over the thing! And Abernathy looks like Ringo Starr. laugh.gif

Nice 'coin slot' in the explosion pic. tongue.gif Good to see Victoria back in.

Well you know how Raider fashion is. laugh.gif

Persephone definitely approves of killing Raiders with swords. It also looks like Victoria 'disarmed' that Raider while she was at it!

Wow, Victoria is really racking up the Raiders. She looks like a wild Celt with that blue face paint and crazy hair!

Now decisions, decisions. Victoria seems better at killing Raiders than being one...

She’s done some decent raiding in this series (like Tenpines, and sacking Miller’s caravan), but none of the other Raider groups would stop shooting long enough to ask her to join sad.gif

They will all suffer for that mistake...

Been a while since we posted an entry in Victoria’s log. Khajiit has a new Fallout4 project he wants to start, but doesn’t feel right about leaving this one as is, so expect a new entry for Victoria soon.

November 3rd, 2287

What a day.

I started out at sunrise after spending half the damn night wide awake thinking about my path forward. On the one hand, I don’t have to be like I was anymore as I have good people that will support me. On the other hand, I’ve been raiding so long that I’m not sure I can stop. Well, as I left Red Rocket I decided to try and be different and see how today’s events play out. I headed off to the southeast.

While on the road southeast of Concord, I ran into a caravaneer called “https://i.imgur.com/bxAheQB.jpg”. I resisted the urge to kill her and take her goods and actually bought a new helmet from her. I left her as she was heading back towards Concord and I continued southeast to one of those old diners.

The diner turned out to be a trading post of sorts. When I arrived on the scene there appeared to be a https://i.imgur.com/kkc7ETP.jpg between the diner owners and a chem trader and his hired muscle. I approached the chem trader, Wolfgang, and he told me that the owner of the diner, Trudy, owed him for some chems he sold to her son. While I agreed with Wolfgang that the owners should pay what they owed him, I recognized that this was a perfect opportunity to try out a different approach to handling things. I offered to talk to Trudy and see if I could convince her to pay up.

Having decided to end this standoff peacefully, I approached the diner. Trudy was in one of the windows looking super pissed. I tried reasoning with her but she wouldn’t listen. The ensuing gun fight ended with both https://i.imgur.com/qDkq5Pt.jpg. After the dust settled, the diner trading post was https://i.imgur.com/C8cWskO.jpg. Wolfgang expressed his thanks and I left the diner and headed west.

West of the diner I passed by an old cabin where I had a short battle with some ferals and then took a road southwest to a huge https://i.imgur.com/GI6qrUn.jpg. On the other side of the dam was an abandoned https://i.imgur.com/skzDfB6.jpg that appears to have had some robot liberation nuts living there at one point. I looted the place and made my way back to Abernathy farm to sell some junk.

When I arrived at Abernathy, I found that they were under attack by a group of Raiders. Without thinking, I sprang into action to help defend the settlement. The firefight was intense, with molotovs and bullets flying around everywhere. Pure chaos. It was so much fun! At the end of the fight, the Raiders lay on the dirt, dead to the last man and woman. Miraculously there were no casualties for the Abernathy family. After things settled down, the realization hit me: I had actively helped defend people against Raiders, not out of self interest, but because I cared about their survival. The universe, it seemed, had spoken.

Well, I guess I’m done with the Raider life. The past couple of days has proven to me that I can survive without being a total jerk. Looking back at life up until this point, I’ve done a lot of bad that I regret, but now I feel I’m on a path to becoming something better. I’m going to take up permanent residence here at Abernathy and help out with the farming and defense. As I write this, Lucy Abernathy is sleeping soundly beside me. It seems she was very appreciative of my help in defending her family today. I don’t know where my road will lead, but for the first time since Liams Own, the path is as bright as a nuclear sun.

Victoria out.

Editor’s Note: This was the last entry in the journal. We checked with the trader that found the journal and he claimed to have found it far to the east of where Abernathy farm was. Victoria’s ultimate fate is unknown, but a few reports from around The Commonwealth at that time mention a person matching Victoria’s description, usually in the context of helping fight off a Raider attack. Perhaps she became a wandering adventurer, trying to find redemption for her savage past. However she ended up, hopefully she found peace.

Ugh apparently Imgur is having trouble so the pics aren’t loading. Sorry. sad.gif

Wha? Is that it from Victoria then? sad.gif Well, at least there was a conclusion, at least. And we are here to catch it.

I like the "under new management" part. laugh.gif And some of your pics do work. Vicky's outfit (with the belt across her boobs) makes her look like a true raider once again. smile.gif

Well, that’s the conclusion of the journal anyway...
Khajiit has a feeling we will be hearing from Victoria again at some point!

Heh, so much for ending Trudy's standoff peacefully. Pure chaos = So much fun! Hee!

Seems like Victoria has turned over a new leaf before possibly fading into the badlands. Nice. happy.gif

All pics are working now. Apparently Khajiit managed to delete that first pic from Imgur some how.

I cannot say I ever had a character who agreed with the drug dealer. Blowing his head off however...

I like Victoria's hat. It reminds me a lot of Doctor Aphra's.

At least she had a happy ending. That is a good way to go out.

Victoria’s journal has reached its end, but her story isn’t finished yet. We will see her again one day!

Better late than never - you wrapped up Victoria's journey very good, the final paragraphs are touching, and despite mistakes she may have done earlier in her life, she'll try and be a better person from now on. Did you conclude her game completely?

Yeah the save is gone, *but* the mod Khajiit used to create her character (Start Me Up) will allow me to bring a version of her back at any time. Which there may be plans to do...
