Malx,

Wait till u find the quarry, the deathclaws there are much more dangerous.

I got it on my map, but then ran like a banshee out of there. I played 10 hours straight that night, no problems. Then tonight when I got home I downloaded the DLC and Xbox made me take an update - now it is crashing every few minutes. I deleted the DLC, it is still crashing - so it must be the update. I am going to the hard drive and delete it if I can, see if it stops crashing.

So I am stuck on top of Black Mountain, the game crashes every two seconds, and I am standing like a dummy attracting deathclaws to me. (meaning I can't fast travel out of there either. GAAAAH !!!! I wish I'd never taken that stupid update - ditto for the day I accepted that stupid "New skins/avatar" update. That kind of crap should never be forced on someone.

Oh dear, mALX's game has caught Bethesda-itis!

Bethesda-itis (n):

1. Spontaneous breakdown of previously stable video game engine software upon update being made. This is usually accompanied by two further updates, one of which fixing nothing and breaking even more, to actually fix the problem, at which point, ten more have appeared to replace it.

I just hope my PC is ready for it, received NV for Christmas, myself.

FNV is ... okay - but doesn't measure up to Fallout 3 (for me). - it does make me want to go play another game of Fallout 3.

The 10 hours I played the other night - absolutely no problems. A week or more ago we had company over and they played it for 4-5 hours, I played for 1 hour that night - no problems. The only two things different were buying the DLC and getting the update. I already deleted the DLC (after paying for it, hope I can get it back when they fix this [censored], lol.)

If you're on Xbox, you won't have a problem with the DLC. You can re-download it as many times as you want after buying it.

Oh good...that is if I can get the game running again. Is there a way to delete the update? Go to system/memory/etc. ????

There should be a "clear system cache" option for your hard drive in the Memory section of the dashboard.

If not, this is the old-fashioned method, so be warned that it clears EVERY patch you've downloaded AND clears all DLC from your disk.

1. Dashboard

2. Go to the System menu

3. Open the Memory menu

4. Highlight your Hard Drive, press Y

5. Press this button sequence: X, X, LB, RB, X, X.

6. Select "yes" when prompted to perform maintenance on your hard drive.

Oh no, the DLC too? I have DLC on Oblivion, Fallout 3, and the DLC for New Vegas. Or did .... GAAAAAH !!!!

Okay, I had already deleted the DLC and it was still crashing. I cleaned the cache on the 360 hard drive - (as above) next - it was definately the patch causing the problem. All crashes stopped as soon as I deleted it.

I unplugged the USB cable from my 360 because they get in a snit if you don't want them uploading BS that is breaking your game and console.

So YEAH !!! I got to play it all night again with no crashes !!! Now...I have to go to work bleary eyed.

It isn't as good as Fallout 3 - so far none of the quests I have stumbled across in my travels have worked properly - except the BOS female companion - I like her much better than the BOS girl they stuck you with in FO3. Give her a stimpak and she's indestructablek. When she runs out, she is hilarious. "Tell my parents .... "

I don't even have any DLC for New Vegas, and the damn thing runs like a pig in the outdoors. I managed to lag my way to the gas station where Ringo was hiding, and once inside everything became playable, damn it.

And every time I exit, Core 1 on my dual-core CPU stays pinned at around 70-80% load. Just blamed on the system process, nothing underneath to explain it.

I can't wait for the updated patch. I should have known better than to get the game now when it's still in public alpha. Just what the hell did they do to the Gamebryo engine this time?

Pretty good game. The improvements on Fallout 3 are very welcome and the writing by the Obsidian team is enjoyable. Contrary to what most people have said, I really never get bugs or glitches. I mean, clipping and some lag at times, maybe an enemy gets stuck in the ground somewhere, but nothing major and game breaking. Not even a crash. I just assume I have a magical Xbox though.

I personally find New Vegas to be superior to Fallout 3.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have entered the Mojave Wasteland!

New Vegas is installed, configured, updated, knows how to use my hardware, and functioning beautifully. Now, where's that Agave? I need to make me some Tequila! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Not bad at all! I let my son make mine because we had company over that wanted to play when we first opened it (and I was cooking) - the man could scare children!!! (Plus, it is a man, I wanted a female character, lol).

808 bytes were wonky in my local files. Validating the game cache means Deputy Beagle has been freed and it's off to rustle up some more troops.

This is probably the funniest glitch-out I have ever seen in this game.

I helped Ringo in the shootout with the Powder Gangers. There were two in particular: one with a cleaver and one with a baseball bat.

After sodding off and making the lives of several convicts down Primm way nasty, brutish and short, I returned to Goodsprings and noticed:

1. Mr. Cleaver had the thing jammed in his stomach, handle first.

2. Mr Batsman had the bat rammed in a rather painful location.

The life of a courier is wierd sometimes...
