Love your artwork! Clearly you are super talented.

I laughed at Eolon in his new Nordic bath towel. Jo makes such a good jester. Hates is simply adorable! tongue.gif

That whole New Life segment was really funny! Breaks the door down lookin' like a crazy person, "We're out of bank space."! Hilarious! The looks on Hates and Jo's faces in the last frame is the icing on the cake!

Very cool! Hates-White-Rats looks like Marge Simpson in pic 6 of the New Life Festival. smile.gif

I honestly had a lot of fun with the holiday comics. At one point they were supposed to have more of them (for context, really) but welp. Still, I like them a lot.

Thanks for the words, everyone.

The easter egg hunt was the only fun part, as the house and the forced backstory kills all of it not to mention the author is a do-, so Aza-jo took advantage of being mistaken for the owners' childhood friend and robbed the owners blind.

That Reachman in the last pic! Holy crap that's good! Love the Reachfolk!

It's actually just Alois wearing the armor after leaving Cidhna mine (Still a Breton I guess, but not quite Reachman). Self care is soul trapping a jerkface for eternity and unleashing the King of the Reach upon Markarth.
My characters were probably the worst thing to happen to the Province

Love the blankie pix! They're all wonderful but, by Azura, the one of 'these two' is magnificent! Wow. happy.gif

The blankets and the other drawing were one of the many things I said I'd get back to but never did. I was gonna do a whole series of lounging in blankets. Ah well. Thanks for the words.

I was gonna do an Oblivion post but I realized I don't have much Oblivion stuff, or rather it'll be tricky to post without a wall o text explaining the context. :V

Quite a nice range of differing styles in this last update. Interesting seeing some of your well-known characters and others who are less so. Alois the Unimpressed. tongue.gif

That said I do like to mess around and experiment. Usually I stick to the easiest, quickest style that makes me happy. :V

Yo.

So as of this writing I mostly hang out in the ESO section of the forum as it's the game I'm focused on, but over the holy crap years that I've been playing TES I've scribbled a few drawings of my characters and for the longest time it was the only way I shared anything about them--and as an aside the only reason I picked up a pen.
One time I tried actually writing down a story, but i never finished and it's on an indefinite hold unless i start over from the beginning lol.

Anyways, after just posting links in the Today in Tamriel thread I decided it was better to start a place where these things would be organized.

I mentioned that I have artwork from other games (a huge collection I'll link to from time to time I guess) so it won't be all ESO stuff, but any new things will most likely be ESO-related.

With that out of the way, have some content. (Might edit for formatting later)

The primary subjects of my sketches. For those that don't know them, from left to right:

Jo'zira - He's Jo'zira. He looks like a Khajiit most of the time. Something about gardens and memories.
Hates-White-Rats (sometimes Xochitl) - It's the Vestige. Nominally a hero, definitely a Hero.
Eolan - It's that guy. Cube Dad. He used to hide his face for no good reason. Bretons are weird sometimes.
IPB Image

I have Skyrim characters, too! They're a...different story. For another time. Feel free to look at them, though.

IPB Image

Also Oblivion? ??? This is my last group shot, I swear.
IPB Image

Anyways, I wanted to open this with something a little more..special, but I don't really have much time and/or energy to get it going so it'll have to wait. Till then, more reposts of old doodles incoming.

Have some links, because the images are huge.

I'm surprised the one you drew during the long dialogue sequence of "The Romance Mod" didn't have your character throwing himself on his sword, lol. Of course, I only heard the preliminary version of that mod from when the author was begging for funding to make it (on Kickstarter, about the time of the Paid Mods fiasco) = that one had horrible voice acting and even worse dialogue in long drawn out scenes obviously written by a female addicted to soap operas. So the version that is out now is hopefully better than that; (From what I heard on YouTube just now regarding that mod, they have improved the voice acting a lot - but still have long drawn out dialogue scenes) - so I would def say it is better than it was; though from your comments and character's facial expression in that drawing ... maybe not! laugh.gif

I like the younger Tyrellius better, but all are awesome drawings!!!

Good god. Okay, so.

The version of the Romance Mod that I played through with Genevieve (pictured above) was actually one of the earlier ones. I played it so I could see just how far the rabbit hole goes, so I pretty much ignored the "look at this through the lens of a romance novel." But you know what? Even looking back at it that way, the version of the mod that I played was still very, very creepy.

The only love interest was an unlikeable asshole that only got worse. He got rapey, possessive, and honestly, I can't understand how anyone would play this thinking "oh, but deep down he's actually a good guy" and continue "believing in him" and "fixing" him. Especially considering he's ripped off from an evil Neverwinter mod or something?

Aside from the scene I drew the thing up there for (bandits having dialogue with Bishop when honestly they'd be immediately destroyed. Genevieve does not play around.) the entire sequence was just goddamn irritating. What's that? The encounter left you with questions about these assholes and their relation to your forced love interest? Too bad, your only response is "Do you want to dominate me like they wanted? wink.gif"

THEN there was the encounters with the two Genevieve actually showed passing interest in. The Mage, being hte only one that has anything in common with her? Bishop beats him up because... ???? No further interactions with him available.

The Knight dude? Bishop goes on a spiel about how his White Knight tendencies are bad and he's repressing himself and bla bla bla some of the highlights include.

I dunno. I made fun of this mod a long time ago, but I tried the more recent version and it's better written. Bishop is more likable from the start and the PC's responses aren't so coquette from the start, but I didn't really play again.

ANYWAYS, thanks for the comments. smile.gif

I'm glad I never downloaded it, it sounds like it sucked worse than even I thought it would from hearing the little snippet she had posted on Kickstarter (trying to get people to pay for her production of it, lol).

Anyways, have some Oblivion stuff!

http://68.media.tumblr.com/9b2c6c68d4e63ad33819ed5793e09990/tumblr_ojok4xJjhZ1slawspo1_1280.png I think his name was Estarmo? ??? I had an itch for Oblivion and decided to make a quick, throwaway character with little RP.

Anyway, I had some issues with character textures so at first his body was oddly discolored. He was also primarily a warrior character and because he was an Altmer his strength was atrocious, so I thought, hey, what if that's just the game's way of showing how far he needs to go! The one on the right is his ~final form~ once his strength and endurance reached max and the texture bug was fixed. I couldn't actually get facial hair in-game but welp. I still have his save tucked away somewhere so maybe his adventures will continue in the future.

That aside, have some of my "official" Oblivion characters.

http://68.media.tumblr.com/2a7278b47748eb1ccaca7d40a47a72da/tumblr_nfh0ntGtRs1slawspo1_1280.png My Champion of Cyrodiil and one half of Sheogorath. (Dementia side). At least until the cosmic retcon. It's a long story. :V

OCO v2 leaves a lot to be desired (Redguards too light-skinned, lips too sharp and small, I guess it's due to using a common base, and also a lot of NPC's didn't make the transition well, like Martin) but it DOES make Oblivion characters' faces match the rest of the franchise's.

To finish off my stack of Oblivion art, here's a comic I drew for that Integration: The Stranded Light mod. For context, there was an actual quest where you had to deliver advertisements for the Stranded Light organization to EVERY SINGLE INNKEEPER IN CYRODIIL. Well, most of them, anyways.

So what's one to do? Use the console to complete the quest http://68.media.tumblr.com/44453f1907a40a7b1a79ab998beae413/tumblr_nw9n56M0Qh1slawspo4_1280.png Never mind that Cyrodiil the largest province in Tamriel. I hate quest mods sometimes, but then vanilla treats going to the other side of the province as if it were a walk to the other side of town, too, including Skyrim.

Anyways, deadlines were met and I get to work on the ESO Anniversary thing again. I'd say I'm about...40% done. Oh.

These are spectacular! I can't get over how well you are able to make facial expressions that match your descriptions of that character! Here is my favorite example:

But this has to be my favorite drawing of this post! All are awesome; but I just LOVE this cartoon, it had me rolling!!! :

Also: These shots from your game are Awesome! Your graphics are amazing, I'd love to know what mods you used to make Anvil look that great!

I think for those in particular I had the benefit of feeling the emotion first-hand, sort of like the ESO comics I made recently. Virtually every drawing i did for Oblivion was to illustrate my thoughts on the mods I was currently playing, so I guess I had that going for me. That aside, thanks for the kind words!

Oh, and I use Better Cities. Since it's an amalgamation of a bunch of city mods made by different mod creators, the quality is just as diverse. Some of the NPC's are best avoided, especially considering that for a lot of them, "immersion" wasn't the goal.

Actually, most of Yannick's drawings happened BECAUSE of that mod (the quest chain in Better Bravil, can't remember the actual name, though). The NPC's are obnoxious but the questline was okay-ish. (His "tries his best" face came from trying to understand what one of them was saying) Also starting it is one of the absolute stupidest ways but I'm past caring about that. :V Just ignore everything but the pretty new architecture.

Yannick's face in that one drawing looked almost real instead of drawn; and you could feel whatever he was feeling because it showed so clearly in his eyes and expression. Really excellent!

I did my own version of Better Cities that just improved their looks = added porches, shutters, window boxes, outdoor benches, changed some textures, etc. I didn't add any quests with them, just kind of made the cities look more appealing (to me).

Jo'Zira !!!!! And is that "Hates?"

Posted by: Grits Jul 8 2017, 03:54 PM

monkey, your ability to convey emotion and movement in your drawings is a delight to see. This thread is a treasure trove. Thank you very much for sharing these! When I see your ESO characters in the game, I have the personality expressed in their drawings in my mind as well. (Jo'zira looks fabulous in game, by the way. His coloring is gorgeous!)

Posted by: Acadian Jul 8 2017, 04:12 PM

Adorable is not a word I normally associate with Argonians but your latest drawings may change that. And the feline expression on Jo'zira's (?) face is priceless! Can't see much of the fellow behind the mask but his eyes sure are intense!

Posted by: monkeyemoness Jul 8 2017, 07:13 PM

For those wondering, yeah, it's the Squad; Hates-White-Rats, Jo'zira and Eolan.

Anyways, thanks for the kind words everyone.

Breton. Had him wear the Skaal armor for nostalgia's sake (took a few artistic liberties with it though). As much as I hate the spiked helmet, it was a great set.

(I realized I never gave his name, either. It's Piers, but idk if he'll be featured more here.)

Depends. Most of the time I go from memory, because sometimes the in-game avatar tends to be different than the mental image (particularly Yannick from Oblivion, though it's as close as I could get him). It's much more doable when doing the dumb, low-effort ones, but for the more detailed work and anything involving in-game armor and clothes and such, I turn to references after a while of struggling. Especially in ESO where the armor is more intricate. :T

Sometimes I think I prefer Eolan in armor than out of it. Which is annoying because drawing armor is hard. :V

SO!

Last May was my 2-year anniversary with ESO, and though it took me a while to actually get to it, I wanted to do something special with my characters.

So I drew the Squad's first meeting in Coldharbour.

Here are the humble beginnings of A Very Small Argonian, A Very Tall Khajiit, and A Very Wide Breton.

Posted by: TheCheshireKhajiit Jul 18 2017, 05:52 AM

Thanks, all. I stalled opening this thread so I could open with this but geeze did I take my sweet time on it. At least it's done and out. I was thinking of following it up with an "abstract anime" (read: wordless comic) version of their adventures in Alliance lands and Coldharbour but I reckon I'll be done with the main quest in 10 years if I did. Maybe some highlights from their adventures.

I wanted to finish it off with a group shot but I wasn't really feeling this and I really just wanted to focus on the original 3 (though in the end i feel like I could have done better). So it never happened. Maybe I will redraw this one in the future and finish it. idk

Happy 2 year anniversary! monkey, these are fabulous. What a marvelous way to celebrate your characters! I love seeing the progress shots as well as the gorgeous colored panels. The comic with Hates sprinting past Eolan makes me grin. Thank you for sharing these!

Posted by: monkeyemoness Jul 23 2017, 09:37 PM

Thanks, Grtis. I'm just glad I stuck through to the end. :V

Anyways, here's something a little more self-indulgent than normal.

All of Alois's potential marriage candidates were Nords so this would be the outcome regardless of who he married. Roggi Knot-Beard had much more going for him so he was the one he ended up with. Although he usually sticks to calling Alois "[his] Lion" for his own sake.

I'm also constantly reminded that they wear the same outfit. Maybe I should redesign Alois's a little.

I dropped it for a while in favor of EarthBound Beginnings but I played a bit of Skyrim recently, mostly starting a new game with Alois to try out new mods. Might go back to Oblivion for a while before I return.

Lol, those pics are hilarious! You can't call a Breton "small"! They are like those little dogs that act like they are the biggest dog in the room!

Posted by: monkeyemoness Jul 25 2017, 02:51 AM

Alois is at least a little more self-aware, but it's still easy to tease him about it.

Fun fact! When I first started TES I was convinced Bretons and Nords were the exact same height! This is mostly due to Arena describing them both as a "tall" race, with only the hair colors differing (I played a bit of Arena before my 360 copy of Oblivion arrived).

Like, after playing a while with a Breton I rolled an Imperial and though "Wow, he is so small!" That should give you an idea how much I believed it.

Then I learned that Imperials were the exact same height Breton men: the "default" height setting of 1. Oops. (It also includes Dunmer, Khajiit men, and Bosmer, Redguard and Argonian women)

It's also why the ESO Squad have varying heights. They'd be the same height otherwise. :V

Love how in ESO you can alter the height of your characters!

Posted by: monkeyemoness Jul 25 2017, 10:52 AM

tbh I actually miss Bosmer men being the smallest playable race. I thought it gave them charm. I dunno, I guess Skyrim had a good reason to make them almost as tall as the women. (.98 I think?)

I guess that makes Breton and Khajiit women the smallest now.

Anyways, yeah! The best part about ESO's character creator is that it lends to more diversity and realism to everyone. I say this every chance I get: bring it to the main games.

Honestly Khajiit has no idea why they didn't have an ESO style character creator in Fallout4. Well, actually this one supposes that the focus was on the face constructor. Still, mods prove that tweaking the individual body sections can be done too.

I love both of these! Always love the skit ones that have a theme because you manage to get some real emotions in their expressions! Love the second because I recognize them from in game; and it looks like they are about to go out on an adventure!

I love this one for the same reason as Khajiit - Breton men are like miniature bull dogs, or banty roosters; rollinglaugh.gif What a great combo of bravado these two will make, (Nord and Breton, like sticking two male lions in a sack and letting them duke it out, lol). Awesome!

Anyways, yeah! The best part about ESO's character creator is that it lends to more diversity and realism to everyone. I say this every chance I get: bring it to the main games.

Yes! I have seen men with beer guts and paunch! And Acadian's Buffy is so tiny that even my short Mia towers over her! Love that you can really customize in ESO!

I wanted to finish it off with a group shot but I wasn't really feeling this and I really just wanted to focus on the original 3 (though in the end i feel like I could have done better). So it never happened. Maybe I will redraw this one in the future and finish it. idk

I love both of these! Always love the skit ones that have a theme because you manage to get some real emotions in their expressions! Love the second because I recognize them from in game; and it looks like they are about to go out on an adventure!

I've been wanting to make a parody for a while now. Same with this http://files.elderscrollsonline.com/cms/opengraph/imperialcity.jpg image. (Though I remember the EP one having dual axes? Guess I was wrong. Checking the screenshot i made from release confirms this lol)

Yes, I modded my Khajiit in Oblivion to make her petite - didn't want her to be as tall as the tall men.

Luckily, by default Khajiit women in Oblivion are only taller than Bosmer men. But apparently Breton women are daintier. :V I love looking at game values, tbh. I also learned that Bosmer men are pretty burly in spite of their height, a trait shared only by male Nords, Orcs and Argonians. (Their weight surpasses height, making them look stockier) That discovery and http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Brodras comments (they're true!...proportionally) led to Deleras' creation in Skyrim.

Course height/weight settings have never been TOO consistent. For example, back in Morrowind Imperial men were a little more buff than women (1.05 and .95) where in Oblivion they were both at a weight of 1. Dunmer were less dainty than in Oblivion, too. Then there's Bosmer men's height being increased in Skyrim while weight is entirely up to the player. Which brings me to...

It's the best! Being able to manipulate specific body parts outside of the face is also great. I gave Jo'zira witch hands and wide hips to go with his lankiness, and Eolan has big EVERYTHING (which is bad for delicate work so whoops) except for his average height, while Hates is a runt all around.

Not only does it lend to better character customization, it makes the world feel less game-y. In games before Skyrim EVERYONE in the same race/gender group was identical in terms of body shape. Which made people having a moniker like "The Portly" somehow have an adventurer's body instead of being, well, portly.

But then Skyrim just gave NPCs a variety of frames which helped somewhat, but regardless of weight men were always ridiculously ripped. It made playing what was supposed to be a waifish Khajiit necromancer awkward, not gonna lie. I like to pretend it was all fur fluff. It also forced me to change Alois's appearance. (Which I planned to illustrate eventually) But then that was also because EVERYONE had to be horribly weathered because reasons. Even people who'd have reasonable access to things like regular skincare.

idk now i'm just complaining about past Elder Scrolls games. Point is i love that FO4 brought in the body triangle with a robust face editor and I hope that it means TES VI will have most if not all of ESO's sliders.

Alois and Roggi! wub.gif I was under the impression from playing Oblivion that Bretons were taller than Imperials, so Skyrim heights were a surprise. I ended up making my own tweak mod to make Bretons taller and Bosmers shorter.

I am another fan of the ESO body customizer. I have seen just about every flavor represented in the game, except no one seems to make chubby female wood elves. laugh.gif

I love the contrast between Eolan, Hates, and Jo’zira’s appearances. Even Eolan’s facial hair makes a cube!

Wow, I never realized it was adding the weight in Oblivion that changed the body size! That is really interesting!

I made a mouse follower mod in Oblivion and had to play with the weight to make him stop being flung about in combat. He was supposed to look fat anyway (due to his background story); so I was hoping adding the weight would make him plump. It didn't, but he was so sturdy he could knock an NPC enemy 15 foot into the air on attack!

*

That Skyrim "Weathered" look is one of the things that totally turned me off of the game. I couldn't make myself play it until SubRosa gave me step by step instructions on how to beautify the characters, laugh.gif Even with my males I prefer a bit of an androgynous look rather than the badass "tough as nails" faces of those Skyrim men. In ESO = not real happy with how my Bubba came out, he looks way too buff and tough (but definitely not as bad as Skyrim's males).

I agree with all this about Skyrim males.

I was trying to create a "Nijel the Destroyer" character to play with Conina the Hairdresser. He's supposed to be over six feet tall, and about 100lb. You can't make that kind of wimpy, not matter how hard you try, and he's also disappointed me by learning how to use his sword. The idea was he'd just block and let Conina (who's supposed to be the one with the genes for it) do all the work. Lately, however, he's been getting his own kill-cams! And that's with an unimproved iron greatsword.

Rincewind has learned to cast spells, too. That's why I gave up and rolled a Smurf instead.

Posted by: monkeyemoness Aug 2 2017, 01:55 PM

It's always fun to hear how characters that were meant to be whimps suddenly find themselves being very capable thanks to how the games work. Like a "craft only" character i had in ESO that's suddenly capable of killing things, but only a little!

But yeah, I know they were trying to go for an ~aesthetic~, but personally I felt they undermined it by not allowing you to do the same to women characters (at least not as much as the men). I would have loved to play a big "Brawn Hilda" type character in Skyrim, with the girth and the twin braids and everything but nope. I mean I can probably do it now, since I have access to mods, but it's too late. :V

Anyways, here's a Dragonborn DLC Skyrim "comic" I drew a while back that i didn't want to post without context. And becaus4e Aza-jo looks a bit off-model.

It's a bit irritating how you're forced to read books before you pick them up. Especially the Black Books. Aza-jo resited the temptation by "bubbling" them with a precursor to my ESO Squad's inventory bubbles. In other words console-command Disable

Bandits are suicidal, I guess. Unsurprising.

I think about the fact that TES Heroes are a lot closer to the classical definition, like, a lot. I mean some people had it coming, but still, the Aza-jo and company did horrible, horrible things to Skyrim and the worst part is that it was preferable to Alduin and the dragons taking over. Fun times.

ANYWAYS

I made up a dumb interaction a while back and tried to make it into a comic, but not only was I unable to do the scene justice, I realized how dumb and borderline out of character it was. So have these 2 frames instead which more or less convey what I wanted to do.
Listen, I'm going to take Eolan's side on this mostly because he's the one that made the tea to begin with. The least they could do is humor him and not drink it like "degenerates." Disrespectful. Rude.

Eolan does all the cooking, being the Provisioner of the group. It's gotten to the point where they won't eat anything other than what he makes. (But they are learning how to cook the way he does. It's not going well)
'Course, he considers brewing alcoholic drinks his weak point.

There was a bug that came with the patch that added the Appearance Change Tokens that made characters sport really angry faces for no reason--usually caused by activating a crafting station (a lot of people say Smithing, but it's probably cause you get a direct look at the character's face). It was pretty well-documented in the main forums, but before I learned that I was really concerned about it because I had changed Eolan's face and deviated from what I did with his alt. (It's more angular than heroic, and I did some tweaks on the eyes and lips)
So for a while I thought I REALLY messed up, but it turns out it was just the bug. It's since been fixed.

Pretty hilarious, though. I can't believe I forgot about it.

This is amazing! Is this your first impressions of Skyrim? I absolutely LOVE your artwork!

Posted by: monkeyemoness Sep 1 2017, 01:58 AM

More like...second impressions? This is an alternate version of another I did for Alois, who I played as Dragonborn like pretty much every other character that I decided wasn't even Dragonborn. Not really sure why, either. Zul'massa (now known as Aza-jo, his original name was a corruption of a non-TES character) was designed to be my "true" or "canonical" Dragonborn on the timeline I base all my characters in, and a lot of his traits were thought up ahead of time.

But I digress. Those are still basically my first impressions and for the most part are my current opinions. Spellmaking was one of my favorite features of Oblivion, and its loss along with a lot of other spell effects really hurt my enjoyment of the game. Combine it with the implication that some effects were removed to make shouts more unique, and how boring magic was in the vanilla game, and you got one of my most hated aspects of Skyrim. :V

Like with the insane amount of Draugr, sometimes story isn't enough to justify how awful certain gameplay elements are. (People like to make the excuse that because Nords are suddenly anti-magic and the Mages Guild split into two petty organizations that ended up losing a lot of magical knowledge along the way, magic will be awful in the game. Never mind that the College of Winterhold is an independent organization. This smacks of the terrible decisions made for Cyrodiil that turned it into High Rock Lite. They made Skyrim low fantasy for this Conan bullshit and killed a lot of the interesting bits of the Province and its people, but not as bad as what they did to Cyrodiil admittedly)

lol wow do I have a lot of opinions tonight. Did I mention I was playing SKyrim again with a fresh character?

Posted by: monkeyemoness Sep 15 2017, 10:04 PM

I have nothing new, yet. Here's a preview of what I'm working on. Skyrim's still trendy, right? Cause I'm making a Skyrim-based "comic".

IPB Image

Also, I was throwing out going through some old stuff and found some more TES drawings circa 2012.

https://i.imgur.com/1EGWXVB.png Turns out it was referring to being mounted on dragons, but before that was revealed my first thought was "BETHESDA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, HE IS TOO POWERFUL NOW". So I sketched this out and forgot about it before I finished. Maybe I'll finish it and a few others I found. Back then, I used to care about my Eternal Champion and I actually played Arena/Daggerfall. :U

Uh, wait. Alois ideally thinks villains should have redemption, but ... who is the villain? Those are guards around his feet if I'm not mistaken! rollinglaugh.gif

Guards in Markarth are all corrupt. It is known.

Unlike most other threats that have a choice in the matter like bandits (who, in his mind, lose their chance the moment they attack--hell some of their idle dialogue has them mention preferring to die instead of going back to jail), he pulled off a Pelinal Whitestrake actually relished killing the guards, soul-trapping Thonar Silverblood and releasing Madanach. The last one was done in the heat of the moment and probably wasn't one of his best ideas.

Markarth is a nasty, nasty place and I think in the end the ones that suffer most are non-Forsworn Reachmen, no matter what happens. Alois and Genevieve left the place on fire (metaphorically!) and never returned.

Markarth is a complete mess. Funny thing is, Khajiit loves it and The Reach in general (it is a beautiful place, imo). The Forsworn are simply a reaction to years of oppression by the Nords. Doesn't make them right, but "for every action, blah, blah, equal or opposite reaction".

Posted by: hazmick Sep 25 2017, 11:15 AM

The true villainy in Markarth is the lack of guardrails on all of the stairs. You're more likely to trip and fall to your death on the way to the market than you are to encounter any Forsworn.

Also, people living in Dwemer structures rather than preserving them as historically significant sites makes Haa-Rei's scales itch.

Bahahaha someone's on a power trip!

Posted by: ghastley Sep 28 2017, 10:16 PM

It was certainly fun to put the Mundane ring, Amulet of Axes, Ring of the Iron Fist, and Escutcheon of Chorrol on a Breton and just reflect or resist everything (except arrows). Especially the Arena fights. Walk out, wait a while, get declared winner, profit! I did much the same with a character that wasn't a Breton by enchanting a pair of the prisoner sandals to compensate.

I think they made the AI in Skyrim a bit better in that respect, as the mobs don't seem to attack themselves to death when you have the HA perk.

Posted by: monkeyemoness Sep 29 2017, 01:09 AM

I think I achieved something similar with potions and Mankar's Robes. IIRC the ingredients used made them heavier than .1 but it was worth it having every enemy kill themselves by attacking. Think I murdered some Bravil guards that way but I still got charged for murder.

Anyways, I don't think I've leveled HA high enough to see the perk in action. Reflect Damage/Spells is one of those effects that I sorely missed. Not as much as waterwalking but... :T

Now you are talking! The above was all staples for Maxical in Oblivion, all except that shield from Chorrol (because she never finished that quest, always kept the sword and used it from start to finish in every game.

Oh,what HA perk is that? Is it for DK or sword and boards? (or something else entirely?)

It's the Reflect Blows perk you get at 100 Heavy Armor in Skyrim. Only instance (that I know of) of that effect in the entire game.

Hey, here's some more Tyrellius-es because I wasn't done yesterday. Imperials have such interesting head shapes in Skyrim, tbh.

Posted by: haute ecole rider Oct 16 2017, 02:07 AM

I always thought a lot of the Imperial men in Skyrim rather resembled the old Romans such as http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02571/julius-caesar_2571737b.jpg, or the typical round headed Sicilian mobster/goodfella . . .

I also try to sneak in some Mesoamerican features into Nibenese Imperials, with mixed success.

Nerevarine Piers (left) and Imperial Agent Serabi (right)

So I've been talking about playing either Morrowind or Daggerfall (maybe Oblivion but it seems unlikely) since I left a playthrough behind on the former and never got past the first quest in the latter.

I sat and read the journal in Morrowind to get an idea of where Piers was at and how he got there and got some ideas for a little recap comic mostly for my own pleasure since the act of reading it alone gave me an idea of who Piers was. I was gonna start with a bust drawing and then draw some "scenes" up to where he was and then I realized I've never drawn an Ohmes-raht Khajiit. So I did this instead.

TBH, it's a pretty common fan interpretation, but it's my favorite. At least, I prefer it over the more anime-style cat people. I also tried to keep some of the details of her in-game sprite in Daggerfall. I was going to go with brown "hair" but went with the red hair she has in-game, for example. Might give her the straight hair she has, too, instead of braids. idk

Posted by: Acadian Nov 9 2017, 04:36 AM

Wow, Piers and Serabi look great! Love what you can do with color - like the eyes and hair here. smile.gif

Posted by: monkeyemoness Nov 9 2017, 09:36 PM

Anyways, I had to stop myself from taking these further than I should have because I want to actually play (and he's currently at level 19, so he's done plenty of things). Here are some early Morrowind things that I got from reading the journal.

I play a lot of Bretons tbh. Mostly thanks to the overpowered racials, ESPECIALLY in Oblivion.

idk I just wanted to draw something never mind that I have a few unfinished stuff I haven't even scanned yet Most outfits were drawn from memory, so they may not be entirely accurate to their game's counterparts. Except Alois, that one was deliberate since his in-game clothes are identical to his husband Roggi Knot-Beard's. I gave him a more "Breton-y" version in blue.

Khajiit wishes we could see our characters in game. Like, you would set the character a home location and if you visited that location while you were playing a different character, you’d see a special NPC of your character doing random everyday things.

Wow, how did you make such a great looking character in Oblivion? Awesome!

Nuska's Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 tbh it's not perfect but it does bring Oblivion's faces to the same aesthetic as the other TES games (no more pudding-faced elves). v1 did it in a different way that's better in some ways than v2 but good luck finding that. Nuska took it down after she decided to stop modding, leaving only v2 up. :T (I don't believe I have any screenshots of 1)

It's more of a moody group shot. Originally only Jo'zira was sitting, but their original descriptor isn't "they cry a lot and make the best of things" for nothing. But yeah, I feel like I know these three a lot better than other characters. I guess it helps I've been playing them for nearly 3 years now. :v (Only my Skyrim characters come close to this familiarity.

As always, I'm doing Other Things atm, but I remembered that when I got into TES with Oblivion it was a few months before Skyrim was supposed to be out so of course I drew characters to play before the game was even a thing.

Proto-Alois was a lot colder and fought with martial arts because I didn't know Hand to Hand wasn't gonna be a skill anymore :v Also I didn't know the character creator would make it impossible to make him the way I wanted to. He was also supposed to have a boyfriend waiting for him in the College of Winterhold but that changed after playing the game and finding that Roggi Knot-Beard was a better match for his current incarnation.

To be perfectly honest, I'm glad it turned out this way. I love the potato he ended up becoming.

(His sister Genenvieve was actually the first character for Skyrim that I made. I'm pretty sure I have the original drawing somehwere)

I had a lot of fun with these. and probably should have done them on the anniversary I might go back and refine these soon once I get back into the groove of my other projects. At the very least, to draw in the tails I forgot about in my rush to get this out by Sunday. :v

Busy time of the year, but I haven't forgotten about this. Mostly I'm stuck on the Khajiit's outfit. Also, it's probably obvious which ones I have more experience drawing. (Hint: it's Alois)

Some day these'll be done!

Anyways, a lot of things ended up drawing my attention away from the projects I started so here's a Dad Sheltering His Bratty Kids I quickly drew before bed last night.

I see scenes like that at the Apple Store all the time!!!

Quick Skyrim/Enderal character art I did in celebration of finishing that punch to the gut.

Alois, in his Nirn and Vyn incarnations. Enderal's races use Skyrim's as a base, but the race that Bretons become (Enderaleans and maybe Nehrimese) aren't playable so he's depicted as a Half-Kilean (what Imperials became).

I guess I should come out and say I've been writing a Skyrim fic with Alois at its center? Yeah. Dunno when it'll be done, but playing him in a different situation and world was also fun. His Vyn counterpart is a lot more stressed about saving the world than he is. (But they're otherwise almost the same)

Also I gave up on drawing the armor set from Enderal. Way too many details for me to learn for something that was meant to be quick

Monkey, your skill level always astounds this one! Awesome work!

I have little else to do these days.

A much belated Anniversary Drawing. The Squad in their early years (pre-Craglorn).
I'm sick of looking at this. The rest will be MUCH simpler lol

Love the expressions! And the colors! goodjob.gif

It's just the finished version of a drawing i posted earlier. And actually a redrawn version of an even older drawing I never posted here lol

Also I wanted to comment that although I'm not 100% sure the lighting is, uh, accurate whatsoever based on the 2 (3/) light sources I picked, at the very least Eolan's shirt ended up looking really comfy. Softer and cleaner than it looks in-game anyways.

Which game? Sorry, I'm not familiar.

Not complaining about the boob window itself since it's at least equal-opportunity, but why's this armor set considered heavy again?

This is technically Enderal art, and not TES art, but since Enderal is a total conversion mod of Skyrim and it depicts one of my characters from a TES game (Eolan, cause I wanted to play a tank) I figured it's fine. Also, it's a problem in Skyrim, too. Shirtless armors protect more than like robes for some reason.

I just realized I never actually put this scribble up here. Playing Eolan in Enderal, but unlike Alois, it isn't a 'serious' playthough. (That is, this is 100% Nirn's Eolan in a "simulation")

Posted by: monkeyemoness Mar 27 2019, 12:23 AM

Jo'zira thought it'd be applicable, just not in this way, specifically. Xochitl was already planning on giving Tharn a beating if she saw him again. Now it'll be justified.

Nice. Love the facial expressions. I expect many pints have been drained over... that guy.

^Eolan would have been satisfied just having him home where he belongs. After all those years of agonizing over it along with the others working hard to make it happen, it was quite a kick to the teeth to realize that it was entirely out of the question to begin with. Even worse that another of Eolan's companions WAS able to sever his identity from the being that created him and live as his own person.

Times like these, you just gotta laugh :v
A Goth Nord and his Feral Bosmer Boyfriend. They came to me in a dream, as the third part of an Elder Scrolls Documentary series (the first two featured a Nord(?) woman going through daily life on Nirn).

They lived in an abandoned chapel somewhere in Northern Valenwood, likely Reaper's March. The Bosmer had some sort of illness? And they were just trying to get by? Also the Bosmer was played by a human for some reason but I filled in the details while in the dream.

Look mang, idk, ever since I started these meds a year ago I've been having very wild, very vivid dreams. (more to come?)

Crafting hell's nearly over. Have an attempt at humanized Hates-White-Rats/Xochitl and Jo'zira.

When he's old enough, Jo'zira will grow a mane. :v I have been around Mexican braids all my life and I still can't draw them.

Monkey removed all his artwork and quit the Chorrolites Guild on May 11? Is he okay? I am worried about him! Did something happen to upset him? verysad.gif

Posted by: mALX Aug 2 2019, 05:57 PM

Does anyone have his email address that can write him and see if he is okay?

Posted by: haute ecole rider Aug 6 2019, 06:29 PM

I haven't seen Monkee in game lately, so I don't know what is going on there. I did not know they had quit the guild. And no, I don't have their email address . . . wacko.gif sad.gif

I know nothing. Look at all that struck-out text though, maybe there's a hint there.

It was all his artwork that was removed verysad.gif

I did find Monkey and talk to him, he is fine; just taking a break from Chorrol. Whew!

I know he will be missed by all of us; and I will always picture Jo'zira standing on the fringes of our Guild Meets - but just knowing he is okay is a real relief to me.
