Unlike popular opinion that spell spamming is non immersive and “cheaty” I find it not only immersive but perfectly logical, at least so for as TES4:Oblivion is concerned.
As a long ago flawed mediocrity of a performing musician I well recall needing to spend hours a day in private practice, attempting to improve and maintain my inadequate skills. Breath control. Embouchure. Tonguing. Major and Minor scales. Scales in thirds. Arpeggios. Etudes and other technical exercises. Go over demanding concert passages. And so on. This sort of thing is pretty much part and partial for any serious musician, at least those in the sort of music I was involved with.
For me it seems natural that a Mage would regularly devote a portion of his or her day to honing skills in the magical arts via special practice sessions. To drive the point home, the Imperial City Arcane University is devoted to study of the art, and even has a casting practice room within its grounds.
That said, spell practice can be done non immersively. But this is the player’s fault rather than the game’s, or so I feel. My decrepit avatar practiced spell casting until mastering every school. Not once during all his many sessions did I feel his practice less than totally immersive. It’s simply a matter of knowing when and where it makes sense to do so and to not do so.
I was saddened when my avatar mastered his final unmastered spell school, knowing that a phase of his post Crisis life had come to a close. (No, he won’t conduct faux practice sessions. That, for me, would indeed be non immersive.)

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Someone ought to say it: Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions are not bad movies. They're quite decent, actually. Not even close to touching the greatness of the original, of course, but they are solid movies in their own right. I think part of the issue is that people expected to have their minds blown like with the first movie...but that wasn't really possible, considering the premise of the first one already having been established. And I think a problem in general when people critique sequels is that their reviews are too focused on how it stacks up to the original first, instead of initially looking at the sequel's merits. Obviously, comparisons between sequels and their predecessors are inevitable--and they should happen--but I think it is unfair to not at least try to look at how a good or bad a movie is on its own. Depends on the brand. For example, I find some brands of orange juice waaaay too tangy. I rarely drink fruit juice these days, though. Unless they're in a smoothie. This post has been edited by RaderOfTheLostArk: Oct 20 2017, 09:01 PM
