Is there any information on how the weather will look in Oblivion. Like if puddles will form during rainstorms or bounce off surfaces other than water. I didn't like how in MW the went through bridges and tunnels. Also how the rain completly ignored the NPCs and you. Some screenshots would be nice.
Also what about other types of weather: snow, sleet, hail, and windstorms.

We already had some screens with rain, didn't we? I guess they paid a lot more attention to the weather this time but something like forming puddles is still a little too much to expect. But the rain will probably don't go through buildings anymore and other buildings anymore

and there were some screenshots which contain what is believed to be snow... it would be interesting to see how/if they worked out how snow would accumulate during a snowstorm.

rain will slide of roofs, I knows that much, also NPCs will seek refuge from the rain.

Well if the physics engine apply's to rain and snow and what not it should slide and move and whatnot.

However that also means you'd have to either A. Walk through it without leaving a path (memory hog) or B. Walk over it... hah, walking over three feet of snow...

i doubt that physics will work on "raindrops" and alike ... that would be a crazy amount of calculations to be done.

i havent recently seen weather effects been done in newer games (HL2, D3,...). actually thats not true. Ive played around with the editor of FarCry, and with knowledge you could activate the built-in weather effect of rain on a custom map.

but it looked very bad - guess thats why they cut it out of the game in the end.

id say they go for some fancy shaders for the most part.

Does any one know anything about natural disasters like tornados and floods?

Daedric Invasion counts as a natural disaster according to the Mortician's bilaws actually.

i was referring to natural desasters that actually happen on earth. i dont think that "daedric invasions" are considered natural desasters here, i think they are considered fiction.

and from the like he was asking it, i think we can probably assume, he means "real" natural desasters.

Please, just take the joke.

Anyway the underlying point was Earthquakes. The engine is probably capable of them, and I wouldn't doubt there might be some similar effects in relation to the main plot.

To Channler, they don't have to deal with that because it won't be snowing that much.

Really? sad.gif verysad.gif that's to bad... i was just thinking that the closest thing to a random natural disaster would be a blizzard. or thunderstorms.

however i wouldnt doubt that they would have some sort of earthquake related to the main plot.

just thought of something. wouldn't it be awesome if you could get struck by lightning? i mean not so much that it gets retarded but rarely when you are the tallest thing in the area in the middle of a thunderstorm and a lightning bolt strikes you.

Personally I don't much like randomized weather. Rain, snow, ash, it all bothers the hell out of me (and I don't have that much hell to bother out anymore).

I just hope it won't rain and snow through bridges and the like. In Morrwind it gets hard to roleplay the homeless sentient that's finally found shelter when it's raining through said shelter...

lol i love weather, if the rain thing is true....the people seeking shelter i mean, then i would walk through the rain and look for a fight...i'm still po'd that there aren't any dragons...but i hope there are still vampires, and a new thing i think they should've added was Dhampires. Dhampires are half human, half vampire....live long, run fast, high strength, they don't have vampiric weaknesses such as "Death by sunlight" that would be really kool.
