Project: Create and Upload new TpF Scenic Excursions episode
Status: Complete

I uploaded ep21 overnight. It's now available for view. A link is found in our What are you Playing? thread.

Project: Exercise Walks
Status: Ongoing

I've not missed a day yet, except once due to rare scheduling conflict. Walked later than usual yesterday and will do so again today due to unseasonably cool weather. Beginning Sunday we are forecast for over a week of solid rains and T-storms. That's sure to put a dent in my walking routine. We shall see.

Will probably run the new electric (battery- no cord) lawn mower at some point. We have named it "Obi Wan Ryobi".

Possibly some work on the story- we have been tapping away at the final chapter- up to 26000 words. And that has caused the creation of some additional "side stories," which will probably be posted before the main. The plan is to finish the chapter (and the story) before beginning postage.

Work on the kitchen has continued- we are now without appliances (stove, oven, microwave, kitchen sink). I foresee a lot of carry-out in our near future- plus some grilling (provided the grocery store ever again has any decent steaks or chopped steak). Otherwise, things that can be done in a slow cooker or toaster oven...

We had a heavy thunderstorm a few days back in which some trees fell on my not one year old gate, crushing it to bits. But long before day's end, we had a new one up!

Glad the damage was somewhat limited and you were able to make a new gate so quickly!

Yeah, I'm really glad nothing fell on the shed or Thujas. The gate I can rebuild again and again.

Unplanned Project: Ramrod brother's auto repair
Status: Hopefully complete
Begun Sunday (discussion, planning), this consumed much of my day Monday and parts of Tuesday. Assuming yesterday's repairs solve the issue, it's over and done with....hurrah.

Project: Groceries
Status: Complete

Did this while on break from carting my brother around Monday. This was originally planned for Tuesday, but that was before learning of my bro's car dilemma, when it made sense to combine it with my cardio appointment and have Monday totally free to vegetate.

Project: Routine Medical Appointment, cardiology
Status: Complete
One of my twice-yearly cardio exams. No nasty surprises.

Project: Submit Jury Duty exemption request to Country Court Clerk's Office.
Dropped this off on the way back from yesterday's cardio appointment. My request, which I justify on the grounds of unreliable health and poor hearing, was approved both previous submissions, most recently 2016. However, I don't have a good feeling about this submission. Enough has changed these past three years that I couldn't submit my old support letter without rewrite. I'm not the writer I was three years ago. I can tell the new letter doesn't make as strong a case for my stance as I would like, but am incapable of doing better. We shall see, I reckon.

Project: Mow Lawn
Status: Possibly upcoming this afternoon

I should have done this yesterday evening after supper. But...I was so exhausted from helping bro and my own activities (see above) I went to bed early instead. The problem today is that it might well rain/storm before the grass dries enough to mow. That's what's predicted. But weather predictions have been way off this past week. We'll see.

Project update: Mow Lawn
Status: Complete

Began about 1250 under blissfully overcast skies and a nice stiff breeze. Went well except at the very end, when cloud cover vanished and wind dropped to nothing. That was brutal! Thankfully I was in the home stretch by then. I cringe to think what it'll be like when truly hot summer weather sets in!!!!

Writing- Chapter 19 is over 30000 words now and on a momentary hold while I wrap my head around how to do the next scene.

One Postcard is complete- a short one. Second Postcard is hovering at 4000 words and needs to be finished. I know some of what is about to happen, just have to get it on paper and/or computer.

House- renovations are on hold, as we learn to cook without any kitchen appliances, bar a toaster oven and a hot-plate. Fun.

We had a thirteen step staircase in our old house; and if the children were stuck inside due to bad weather and getting too hyper I would make them go up and down the stairs (doing a fun made-up game) that gave them some secret exercise so they would settle down, lol.

Yeah, our oven broke in a thunderstorm some time before Thanksgiving 2018. Luckily the stove top burners still work; but = other than it we have also been stuck on the Toaster Oven (or Microwave).

At least with summer here you can use a grill or smoker outside instead of the toaster oven part of it = Mmmm Mmmm!

Today's Projects

1) Exercise Walk:
Went well enough I suppose. When possible, as it was today, I take 'em right after 0500 breakfast so avoid excessive heat issues.

2) Removed unwanted weeds-bushes growing along house foundation:
Started in on this circa 0800. Already too hot for me by then. Gave out pretty quick. I did, however, remove all but one (the worst) weed bush/tree before throwing in the towel. Might attempt that one another day. Gotta face facts though, and own up to no longer being able to tackle this sort of thing compared to what I could do even two years ago. (The last time I did a major weed/bush/tree trim/removal.)

3) Prepared Jun 2019 internet purchase state/county/local tax payment for posting tomorrow:
Always a pain, but it's gotta get done. Came very close to forgetting to include one net purchase due to misspelling a key search word in the ledger.

4) Balanced Jun 2019 Checking Account ledger.

5) Balanced Jun 2019 Savings Account ledger. (Nothing to it.)

6) Prepared City Utility payment for hand delivery tomorrow morning during grocery/errand run.

Well, color me satisfied!

Today I painted the firewood storage red and my winter tire rims silver, both paint jobs turned out great!

Project: Mow Lawn
Status: <sigh>

Went out a bit after 1800. Very nice temp for this time of year. Overcast sky. Steady breeze. Couldn't ask for better mowing circumstances. Mowed about five minutes. Got hit by a drop of rain. Within a brief few minutes we were in the midst of a downpour. It then settled down to a steady light rain. So much for mowing today. Likely tomorrow too. A shame, as I've already gone longer between mows than is good for my mower (and myself).

Project: Weekly Grocery Run
Status: Completely

Did so this morning. Nothing more needs be said.

Tuesday Evening Addendum
:
Mowed earlier this evening. A struggle, but I survived...so far as I can tell.

Wednesday Morning Addendum:
Woke this morning drained of all energy, likely the result of yesterday evening's mow. Gave serious thought to forgoing today's exercise-walk. Breakfast revived me just enough to sway me the other way. Not sure I made the right decision. I survived it. But I'm now almost totally drained again. Didn't help that when I headed out, roughly 0545 it was already 79F with a feels-like in the mid eighties! I pretty much gave out at the 5/6 mark, but due to where that is along the route had no choice but to carry on. Did so, even managing a halfhearted burst of speed at the end. Thankfully I can vegetate the rest of the day.

Almost forget to mention I received a call from our County Court Clerk's office yesterday. My Jury Duty excusal application has been accepted. I always feel guity applying, but believe my health is too unreliable to be counted on in such situations.
