I think Sony had an event recently and that's where the news was broken. I'm just glad that EA's exclusivity ran out. They squandered the opportunity to print money with Star Wars IP. Only thing good to come out of it was Jedi Fallen Order.

Ah, such wonderful words. They just put a smile on my middle-aged face. Can we hear them again, but louder?

It just stuns me that Lucasarts/Disney made that deal with EA. I mean, it was just dumb. EA must have been really cheap is all I can figure.

Diablo II Resurrected (PC) was just released Sep 23. I have many fond memories of a blond bowgirl, ponytail bouncing along behind her. Amazon class with bow, affectionately called a 'bowazon'.

Planning on getting this for the Switch...

The other game I've been watching for a time now is Horizon Zero Dawn for PC. It is currently on sale at both Steam and GoG. If you are considering it, make sure to check the requirements. It wants quite a bit of hard disc space.

Being pretty low tech and playing very few games, my experience with Steam is limited to Skyrim several years ago and never really had any Steam problems. I still have an active account there. My experience with GoG is zero but I do have an account with them. Horizon Zero Dawn is a single player game and GoG says it is DRM free so you should not need to be on line to play it. Any thoughts on whether GoG might be a better option? Both places currently have the game on sale for US $29.

Gog does not have DRM or require a 3rd party company to play the game. That is all the reason I need to buy it through them.

I bought Oblivion and Two Worlds 2 from GOG, and they were indeed completely unbound. But they were older games, so I wasn't sure if Horizon would be the same.

Mind you though, GOG now has a new tool called Galaxy, which is very much like Steam - it wants you to be online. I think you still don't need to be online to play the game, but they want to keep tabs on you. However, you can choose to buy the game in the old-fashioned way and not through Galaxy, then it just plops it on your hard drive and that's that.

You definitely don't need Galaxy unless you are shopping, downloading, or updating the game. I bought Stardew Valley through GOG, and I never run Galaxy. I just launch the game right from my desktop.

Oh, so you're saying I didn't have to re-download everything... wink.gif Well, never mind.

That's good one of us is playing Stardew Valley. I just went on Wikipedia to read about Stardew Valley, which a lot of people are modding. What exactly is the game about? I wondered. There are so many mods for it on Nexus nowadays, its number of mods is closing in on the most popular Elder Scrolls titles!

It's a lot of fun! Here is the description from the wiki:

QUOTE
Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life RPG! You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town’s most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

The writing in the game is great, too. Characters have real issues that you can help them through and none of it feels silly or over the top. Exploring the mines is always fun, and the challenge of the Skull Cavern takes serious dedication.

And yeah, mods help adjust it to your taste even though it's just as enjoyable without them. I play it on the Switch a lot and it's just as fun as the modded PC version.

Here is one of my farms from a while back. It was one of my longest running farms at around year 4, I think. There has since been more updates with new content not reflected there.
