Chorrol.com _ Role-playing _ Help for faster roleplays

Posted by: The Solo Rollo Jan 21 2012, 01:29 AM

As you know, all our roleplays have been ridiculously slow. So, how do we stop it?

My idea is to have a "player cap" This means that their are limited spaces in roleplays, and are first come first served. This would mean that only those who ar determined to roleplay would get in, and will hopefully be more active.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 6 2012, 10:56 PM

This place needs more roleplayers than anything else, it would seem. I am surprised about the lack of Rpers, so many great writers here.

Posted by: jack cloudy Mar 6 2012, 11:06 PM

That and players that stick around. All the rp's that actually started tend to die on the first big event. sad.gif

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 7 2012, 01:57 PM

Hmm. Great writers.. And no RPers... This somehow reminds me those Clash of the Titans gig the old timers played around with. Not necessarily an RP, but everybody can join and put their 50 cents in about how Bobnito's Char is way better than Rolando's and all those little stuff.

Hmmm.

Even if I would suggest doing that, I'm not entirely sure. Would the esteemed writers want a weekly showdown between two characters just for the sake of violence between said characters? And would they join/vote?

Jack Ripper, what do you think?

Posted by: Lady Saga Mar 8 2012, 12:16 AM

I don't get it. What's the diff between roleplayers and story-writers?

Well roleplayers, in the forum interact with several people on a topic, Um, how do I put it;

Jericho glances at his side to Lady Saga, "New to town?" he asks placing a hand on the map on the side of his belt.

then in the next post you will RP as Lady Saga answering Jericho's question and moving on with the plot.

Granted I do not give the best example, but it's something like that.

While story writers Rp alone without waiting for someones response, does this make sense? tongue.gif

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 8 2012, 07:29 AM

Yep. Yep, it does. Actually, you stole the words right from my mouth.

Posted by: Fawkes Mar 8 2012, 07:54 AM

I'll be willing to join a RP, if people will excuse the fact that I suck at it :3

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 8 2012, 11:23 AM

Truly? Well, thats good news! And don't worry about sucking at RPs. Just have some fun while the plot flows forward. Thats what I did in my first real rp. Look at The Shards of Broken Emperors RP. There is another similary named RP, so dont be confused.

Anyway, in my first RP, I immediately crossed daggers with a fellow RPer and after a fight, we joined forces and set off a mutiny on the boat we're in. KEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE. Good times.

Posted by: Lady Saga Mar 8 2012, 04:41 PM

OH I get it. So that's literally like play-acting style of roleplay.

BAck in the tabletop days (DnD, TFT, Runequest, etc.) there were 2 styles of gameplay. We used little lead figureines on a hexboard to simulate gameplay. Some other people play-acted everything with no little models. I could never get into play-acting myself, even I have my geekiness limits! I remember going to some kid's house back when I was in high school, and those guys play-acted everything. I couldn't get into this! I preferred lots of books, numbers, stat sheets, etc. And of course, those little painted figures. smile.gif

But here on the forums, I don't have a problem with this style of RP. How would we start?

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 8 2012, 11:35 PM

We start by choosing a time period in the Elder Scrolls. And then a location and plot and the outcome.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 9 2012, 12:48 AM

Or we could just have an RP coffee shop here and use it as a warmup. Like, I dunno. Maybe our characters are the working class and after a hard day of work, we go there, have a conversation, some barfights, overhear a talk between a ranger and a suspicious looking wood-elf....

Like I said, a warm-up of sorts. Before doing the main-thing.

Ohh, I like this idea, we need the character sheet first, but after that we could do the Coffee shop warm up, so us who are not used to RPing in forums could practice?

Whooooooah. That is one hell of a list you got there. I'll probably post my character later today, becuz.......

I'm still thinking what kind of errr, Inn or Tavern we should practice our RP skills in. I suggest the Inns in Chorrol, since you know. Its fitting that way.

KEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 9 2012, 02:12 AM

So, it's going to be in Cyrodiil?

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 9 2012, 02:28 AM

Or Skyrim. Anywhere, really. I just said Chorrol because we're in a site called Chorrol and... I'm a geeky guy, I guess I just like total immersions. Hmmmm.. How about Riverwood's inn? Atleast theres actually a mill there and we're VERY familiar about its geography.

I don't mind in where, but if it takes place in Cyrodil let it be very close to the time that Oblivion takes place, Likewise in Skyrim, that will make things way easier for me. smile.gif
Riverwood's inn sounds nice,if chosen, now to find out why my Orc is there. Once we decide a time and place, I'll write up the character sheet smile.gif

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 9 2012, 04:21 PM

Falkreath is near border to Cyrodiil. We could start off there, maybe?

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Mar 10 2012, 10:27 AM

I'd certainly be up for joining in on a roleplay like this one. I'd personally vote for the Chorrol setting, which just feels right, and if I may then I shall submit a character sheet post-haste. Possibly, in terms of setting, it could be in Cyrodiil but around the time that Skyrim is set, meaning that the place would be under ostensible Imperial control but is really just a protectorate of the Thalmor Dominion? That could be an interesting time to play this.

Anyway, that's just my two pence, and I'm pretty happy to go with what's decided on.

Posted by: jack cloudy Mar 10 2012, 12:38 PM

I'm fine with whatever. As for characters, I'll have to look at it. Maybe I'll bring back my Dunmeri instrument maker. Or his great-great grandson depending on the time-period.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 10 2012, 02:41 PM

I'll be Celdryn Minan'Kherus. KEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE. But yeah.... Chorrol or Falkreath?

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 10 2012, 06:14 PM

I vote Falkreath or maybe even Morthal. But we can start in Cyrodiil and migrate to Skyrim. I got a few characters but I do not know which to use.

Vaultren-High ranking Imperial Officer that was stripped from rank and left to wander as a hermit. Hates the Thalmor, wants his position back and will do anything [i]to get it back.

Lycus: Part-time gladiator, Bounty Hunter and a hunter. Also a hereditary werewolf. And a big-game hunter(I.E, hunting Mammoths and all sorts of legendary creatures.)

Illana: Lycus's sister. She's a full-time Bounty Hunter. Insane and eccentric, she is impulsive. But also a professional when it comes to getting the job done. Dead or alive. Also a werewolf.

I'll probably bring the hunters in. Since it fits Skyrim.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 11 2012, 02:33 AM

OK. I vote for Cyrodiil then we migrate to Skyrim. Should be a good warm-up since we planned it this far.

Posted by: Fawkes Mar 11 2012, 07:03 AM

I won't mind from Cyrodill to Skyrim! So timeline will be Skyrim's timeline? I hope so, it would be easier :3
I already have my Orc ready, just need to fill out the form.

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Mar 11 2012, 08:00 AM

Cyrodiil to Skyrim sounds good to me; I'll get a sheet up for the alchemist/Mage character I have planned

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 11 2012, 09:32 AM

Already finished here. Hehe

Name: Celdryn Minan'Kherus
Race: Breton
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Home Country: Daggerfall, High Rock
Faction and Rank: None.
Faction Description: None.
Class: Rogue
Class Description: Rogues are adventurers and opportunists with a gift for getting in and out of trouble. Relying variously on charm and dash, blades and business sense, they thrive on conflict and misfortune, trusting to their luck and cunning to survive.

Skills: Dual-Wielding (a.k.a One-Handed), Light Armor, Archery, Sneak, Lockpicking, Speech
Appearance: So many years of adventuring and fighting has taken a toll to his voluptine looks. Scars criss-cross his face like random lines to a canvas, and a blow from a past opponent rendered his jaw leaning unnaturally to the right. With all these wounds that he sustained, the only thing that remains intact were his eyes. Under a veil of shadow cast by his cowl, two emerald orbs reflect light yellow. People who are targeted with its piercing green observation feel sudddenly cold and naked.

Eyes: Yellow-green.

Build: Deceptively lanky-looking, but actually wiry.
Personality: Reckless. Adrenaline junky. Prone to charge into situations without thinking things first. People call him brash and unthinking, and that someday he would die because of it, but that is exactly why he was wild in the first place. Dull is not in his dictionary. He prefers flirting with fate, and see what comes from it. Damn the consequence.

Weapons: 15 Steel Arrows, Hunting Bow, 25 Throwing Knives, Orcish sword (named Wicked) and Orcish dagger (named Delight)

Clothing: He wears a worn brown cloak over his hardened leather jerkin. A set of leather vambraces he wears with black gloves. A fur-lined boots warms his feet. He also has a belt that holds his coin pouch, his throwing knives, his daggers and other assorted poisons. He modified it with his leather jerkin so it is also a part of the jerkin, and can be positioned as a harness.

Miscellaneous: None.

Magic: None.

History: He was the youngest offspring in the triplets of a minor House in Daggerfall, the House of Minan'Kherus, Celdryn spent his childhood as a spoiled braggart; always outside with his groupie, causing headaches and controversies left and right. He somehow grew out of it when his father introduced him to the art of markmanship. While he wasn't a prodigy on archery, he nonetheless suprised his tutors at the dedication he showed. The patriarch also consoled him into learning swordsmanship, but this was merely a secondary option for Celdryn. At the age of 16, he became a famous youth whose skill with the bow was ungodly. He also had some skill in dual-wielding, but this was cast into the shadows.

On his 18th year, he bid the House of Minan'Kherus au revoir and set off to make his own. His first destination was the Fighters Guild. There, he learned many more things about archery only by direct combat. His grasp on dual-wielding also increased to the point that he began to use his two weapons more than his beloved bow. For three and a half years he served the organization, noted for his unnerving willingness to jump into any contract. Including the dangerous ones. Especially the dangerous ones. When he finally deemed the Guild dull, he bid them au revoir and set his eyes upon the Imperial City. Specifically, the Imperial City's Arena.

From Daggerfall to Cyrodiil, he made the journey entirely ON FOOT, and savored every danger on the road he met. It took him half a year. When he arrived and joined the Arena, he caused quite a stir at the rate of how he attained his ranks. With each passing day, it seemed he was unstoppable. Until the fourth year of his uninterrupted killing streak, he bid the Arena au revoir in a rainy midnight. Seeing the unending battles as a pointless affair, and reasoning that he was officialy over with the Fighters Guild in any provinces, he set his eyes upon the honored Companions of Skyrim. Thinking that if he could scrounge up honor while having a good time, then all the more better.

Alright, my character is here. I'm a little unsure about the age, as I couldn't really get a clear-cut description of elf ages, but the rest of it should be good.

P.S. Loving the bounty hunter siblings, Darkness Eternal.

Name: Alvara Hattaano
Race: Dunmer
Gender: Female
Age: 37
Home Country: Morrowind
Faction and Rank: None
Faction Description: None

Profession: Hearth Healer
Profession Description: Focussed mainly towards healing and alchemy, Hearth Healers traditionally travel across civilised lands, offering their skills in dealing with minor ailments in return for coin or bed and board.

Skills: Restoration magic, alchemy, horse riding, able to negotiate a decent bargain, limited skill in Destruction magic, limited skill in using a quarterstaff
Appearance: Somewhat hardy and weathered by a great deal of travelling, Alvara still possesses relatively youthful features and the typical high cheekbones and thin facial features of her people. Her hair grows a little over her shoulders and is grey-white in colour, usually tied back in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. She sports a tattoo of a curling line snaking from beneath her right earlobe and spiralling on that cheek, a traditional Ashlander design, in dark red ink.
Eyes: Red, like that of all Dunmer
Build: While she hardly possesses a jaw-dropping hourglass figure, Alvara is of a medium build and in decent shape thanks to her many hours of travelling.

Personality: Generally rather stoic and slightly cynical in regards to most things, Alvara less inclined to be distrustful of non-Dumner as some of her other people are, mainly because she has spent a great deal of her life interacting with them. However, she is still a proud and at times stubborn individual, but those who get to know her find an incredibly loyal individual with a streak of soft, quiet wit to her.

Weapons: A heavy staff of hardened oak, able to snap bones or put a hefty dent armour when needed
Clothing: Hardy travelling clothes, including a pair of sturdy leather boots and an oilskin cloak to keep off the worst of any weather.
Miscellaneous: Her ingredients and equipment satchel, notebook (waterproofed with an enchantment to stop it getting ruined by adverse weather), spyglass
Magic: Skilled in healing spells, able to knit together wounds on herself and others. Also able to throw out a decent fireball or ice spell when needed, though they're not as powerful as those of a dedicated battlemage; generally, she uses these to deal with bandits from a distance or frighten away wild animals.
Spell list:

History: Born in Ald'Ruhn to an Ashlander mother and a father in service to House Redoran, Alvara and her family fled Vvardenfel when Red Mountain erupted for mainland Morrowind, and from there moved to Cheyindal. She was given some training in traditional Ashlander medicine-making from her mother, and initially hoped to become apprenticed to the town's local healer. He turned her down, saying he had no need of an assistant, and instead Alvara decided to take up travelling in the hopes that she could find somewhere else to settle and apply her expertise.

As a result, Alvara has gone across a good swathe of what was formerly Cyrodiil before the Aldmeri Dominion conquered it. She moves from village to village, places which are too small to have a dedicated healer, dealing with minor ailments that crop up in them in exchange for coin or a bed; she has pulled teeth, treated arthritic joints or cured non-lethal, irritating diseases like Crimson Foot, Bletchy Tongue, Amezce or the Damp Squibs. Usually she stays for two or three days, treating any who come to her with complaints and then moving on once there is no more business for her.

We hardly even have any healers in RP. Glad to have Alvara around. Though my male character is slightly racist toward Dunmers. Only slightly.

Can see that not ending well for him, if he isn't careful about being nice.

"Get away, Dark Elf."

"Fine, no healing of that gaping knife wound for you."

Yep. It would make for an interesting character development for both sides. It would bring a sense of humility to him to be dependant on a Dunmer.

Ok, I've been busy lately. Anyway, I'm still working on my character, aiming for a little more of a combat focus this time. As fun as it was, I learned that old drunks, cripples and fishermen aren't exactly all that useful when the rps tend to roll from fight to fight.

I'm still working out the details on my character. Skills are a bit of a problem point for me. Given his background, he'd probably be pretty good at Conjuration and Alteration, maybe some Mysticism. There is also Restoration, but it is limited to short-term fortification spells. But other than spells, I'm not sure what's there. I'm also a bit confused on the timeline. I really want him to join the loyal at birth for maximum indoctrination but if there hasn't been enough time between the rp and Oblivion, I'll have to make him younger.

So anyway, here's my guy. I think I have everything now.

Name: Kogobal
Race: Altmer
Gender: Male
Age: 172
Home Country: Vvardenfell
Faction and Rank: The Loyal of ALMSIVI, expelled
Faction Description: The Loyal of ALMSIVI, often abbreviated as ‘the loyal’ and usually not even mentioned at all, is a cult that still holds to a warped version of the old Tribunal faith. They claim that the Nerevarine is another aspect of Dagoth Ur, whose treachery imprisoned the rightful gods of Morrowind. As true believers, they see it as their task to find the Tribunal’s prison, free them and restore Tribunal rule and faith to Morrowind and beyond.

Class: Magicks Researcher
Class Description: Developers of new spells and applications of the magical arts, researchers usually focus their expertise on a singular school.
Skills: Various spells, literate in multiple languages (though hearing and speaking is limited to Cyrodiilic and a few random words).
Magic: Levitation, several forms of mark and recall, waterwalking, conjuration of a Scamp for menial tasks and a Frost Atronach for battle, Telekinesis and a few short-term fortification spells focused on increasing strength and speed of the recipient.

Appearance: Tall like all Altmer, Kogobal’s face is weathered and cracked from long years spent in the harsh environment of Red Mountain and the rest of Tamriel.
Eyes: Bloodshot with dark brown irises.
Personality: Kogobal is a bit of the odd one out. He doesn’t trust people easily and while he does make attempts at being polite, he still sees everyone as an ignorant heathen at best. He is also easily distracted by potential clues for his research.

Weapons: A wooden staff. The staff has been hollowed and contains a scroll of Vivec’s sermons (dating back from the Morrowind era). The top is capped with a small orb of facetted glass. Supposedly the orb lights up when Kogobal ventures close to a Tribunal god and by extension their prison. He’s never seen it happen though.
Clothing: Brown vest, ditto pants and shoes, a shawl for when it is cold or raining. Kogobal is not someone who values bright colours.
Miscellaneous: A backpack filled with various items including a journal (written in code), the usual camping tools, and some money. Also on him he carries an amulet that responds to the presence of other enchanted objects by continuously becoming hot and cold.

History: Kogobal’s parents were formerly wealthy and influential members of House Hlaalu. Repeated disasters however, such as the eruption of Red Mountain, the fall of Vivec’s moon and several invasions left nothing of both their wealth and their influence. It is possibly because of this that Kogobal’s parents developed an obsession for the good old days and joined the loyal cult. Having grown up among the cultists, Kogobal himself developed an interest in the metaphysical prison where his gods were believed to reside.

He studied all forms of interplanar movement he could find, whether it was the fictional conjecture of a poem or the very real school of conjuration. He pored over tomes on the ancient arts of anchors and the accompanying spells of intervention. He studied the Oblivion crisis and the remains of the gates spawned during that period. He searched the land for the Staff of Chaos, which had imprisoned Uriel Septim for ten years in a place between time and space. At one point he theorized that perhaps the Tribunal had not been imprisoned in another realm, but were merely very far away. Perhaps on the other side of Nirn, or on the moons. This idea led to his research on more mundane methods of transportation such as levitation, passwall, waterwalking and simply boosting one’s own body to superhuman levels of speed and agility.

Ultimately however, that idea was declared heretical by the cultleaders. Kogobal was sentenced to cleansing by being hurled into Red Mountain’s fiery depths. The Altmer used trickery to make the cult believe he had indeed perished. In midfall, he relocated himself to the metaphysical anchor he’d placed in his room, then sent back his cloth-rack to take his place at Red Mountain. Acting swiftly and taking advantage of the fact that every member of the cult had gone to see the execution, he gathered his belongings and left. Though the cult and indeed his own family would no longer acknowledge him or his ideas and would attempt to kill him on sight, he vowed to continue the search.

Skills: Duel wielding, restoration ,archery, light armor
Appearance: Kent is a big hulking man like any other orc, his entire body is decorated with various scars. His features are less harsh than any other orc. He has red hair, a feature strange to Orcs, he has a shaggy beard outlining his strong jow.
Eyes: Blue
Personality: Some what rash and stubborn, he can be gentle and caring if time demands it.
Weapons: Two imperial swords, each decorated by the insignia of the empire at their hilts one of them is enchanted with frost damage while the other one with fire damage. A common Hunting bow he rarely uses.

Good enough for me. So... Barring Lady Saga who we aren't sure of joining us as of yet, we are now complete, yes? Who will have the tremendous honor of starting our RP warm-up?

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 19 2012, 08:40 PM

Someone, do it. And I don't want to see one liners or three liners like:

"Uriel walked down the road, where he saw in his field of vision a large caravan. There were khajiits cooking food and licking their butts. Uriel walks to them and says "Hi..."

No! Goodness gracious, this peeves me to the bone. I expect two paragraphs to three discribing the enviormnent, surroundings, smells and character thoughts,

Then again, this is just so we can have fun, so do what you want to.

I used to RP a lot....long time ago...BUT the the RPs started to be almost JUST fighting, killing, slashing banging...so I lost interest. we had som HUGE successful ones in the old days...maybe you remember Jack cloudy?

I do have a couple of charachters ready for play, mainly healers and mages, (female)

BUT guys, do you have a plot set up? have you decided a storyline? or at least some starting point.

The forums most successful RP was AMU I think, A mystery unleashed...We just started off and the story unleashed itself in a very interesting way.

I am sort of interested in joining...but there has to be more than slash and bang, please

To be a honest i would vastly prefer rp to be more character developmental, So I do agree with you, I'll kinda just skimp away if it's only killing and violence.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 20 2012, 05:11 PM

I am going to keep one character, Lycus. Since Illana is more battle oriented, I'll add her at a later time.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 20 2012, 05:25 PM

@Minque: Plot? To be completely honest with you, minque, there isn't any plot. This... RP could be summed up like the Coffee Shop thread. People could come in here and RP with others to get practice or just for the heck of it. We do, however, established a goal. From Cyrodiil, we shall go our way to Skyrim. Reasons are your character's own. Yes, some people might see this as an aimless RP, but have you seen the RP section? Deader than a rat riddled with bullets. This is an attempt to atleast bring it back on its feet. At least I like to think so.

@DE: Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that. I mean, with great age comes great experience and all that, yeah? Unless of course you like your characters young.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 20 2012, 05:41 PM

I like them young, yes, but I'll probably not even add them, as I have no idea how they should be in the future and what happened in their past. I only had a backstory for them before the Great War, not too after into the future.

I have a second character I'll add. He will be the one in the RP.

Name: "Vaultren"

Race: Imperial

Gender: Male

Age: Undetermined. Appears in his early twenties.

Sign: The Warrior

Home Country: Cyrodiil

Faction and Rank: Empire-Tribune(Former)

Class: Nobleman.

Skills: Athletics, One Handed weapons, Light Armor, Sneak, Hand to Hand, Destruction.

Appearance: Once a man with a tousled, wavy black hair, Vaultren had a prince-like appearance about him in his earlier years. Though in the future, he had cut his hair short to where it was cropped as most Imperial males in his line of work. Though his muscular face distinguished him from the others, as his white unblemished skin which had little pigmentation. He also grew a bit more strong with a sturdier built. He bears a strong jaw, and is often seen without a smile or any positive expressions. His eyes bore dark circles beneath, convincing most people of his lack of sleep.

Hair: Black. Cropped.

Build: Average. He is a tad bit muscular, but not too much for a soldier. He stood six feet and was 178 pounds. He has no scars nor any distinguishing birth marks, even if he fought in many battles. Being a graduate from Synod, he knew how to use his powers to heal himself.

Personality: Vaultren was a mature and self-confident man who staunchly supported the Empire, though not it’s ways. As he grew up he was taught to face his problems head on and to face them without hesitation or reservation. This mindset led him into learning new things that would shape him into what he is in the present day. A man of utopian ideals. Years ago some would call him a seductive womanizer and a generally somewhat social man. While he retains such social skills, he is diagnosed by lifestyle to live with borderline personality disorder.

As he matured in title, his mindset did not change but simply manifested into his acts. As Praetor, Vaultren was uncertain of his duties, but was confident in his own abilities following his conquests in the battle field. He had trouble in tolerating failure, and was had a tenuous relationship with those beneath him in rank who did not prove their worth, so much as choking a noble who was later proved and convicted as a thief and another whom attacked. This led the mundane soldiers despise Vaultren for his “arcane antics” and sense of superiority. Despite his shaky relationship with diplomats and other soldiers in the Empire, Vaultren got along with his own branch of legion personnel, admiring them for their lack of cowardice and sheer mercilessness when it came to destroying an enemy under his command.

His reputation for a genteel yet cruel man increased twice fold. He became a staunch supporter of Man’s place in the world, even if he believed himself above them. While he remained a dilettante of foreign arts antiques, he secretly hated most of he perceived as the “corrupt” Mer in the High Council. He separated society into dual, distinguished categories; threats and assets. The first standing for governmental powers and individuals that would hinder any of his hopes of personal advancement and otherwise would have to be eliminated and destroyed. The latter being for individuals who could aid, or simply be persuaded. By the time of the tension with the Thalmor, Vaultren knew that the only response for the horrors and the injustices of the world was hate and anger. While often appearing as a civilized and genteel young man, Vaultren had no issues with torture or being held responsible for the deaths of various enemies, nor being leader of the clandestine atrocities behind the scenes of the Empire such as torture and executions.

Weapons: A fine sabre made of silver bearing Daedric filigree in the handle. He also has an ancient blade’s weapon, a katana. Though he does not use it as much as he did in his earlier years.

Clothing: He wears a nobleman’s clothing when he is off-duty, the hallmark of a true aristocrat. A black and burgundy outfit with gold-trimmed shoes, and even up to date. Most of them comes in shades of black, red and grey. He wears a crimson amulet around his neck and a few ruby rings which bedecks his fingers. He also owns a single black hooded robe. When on duty, Vaultren wears his standard Imperial outfit and also the Penitus Oculatus armor.

Magic: Racial powers and destruction spells. Mainly the use of fire such as fireballs and flame attacks. Also has drain life ability and the power to raise the dead for a limited amount of time.

History: Born in Cyrodiil, Vaultren was heir to numerous amounts of wealth and title of nobleman. His parents were strict, but proud of his intelligence and ambition, so much that they surrendered him to procure an education in the various branches of academics and universities in the Empire starting with the Imperial Legion.

Being the most efficient learner, Vaultren graduated over brief years, having studied diplomacy and the art of combat. Of course, this did not include his skill in destruction magic. Due to his passion for war and battle and diplomacy, as well as a sense of intelligence, Vaultren rose in ranks faster than most of those around him, which coincidently had died in mysterious ways. Given the title of Praefect, he took command of a elite sect in the Imperial Legion he dubbed “The Thirteenth”. The Thirteenth was often deployed in locations where its ferocious fighting skills utilized to create a political statement. Most of its tasks were clandestine, so as to conceal what it was accomplishing from the Imperial Senate. Yet the High Council had trusted Vaultren over this time, enough to allow him to pursue his own goals.

Following that event, he became tribune not only when he fought valiantly near the edges of Cyrodiil against a rebellious coup that threatened to overrun the countryside, putting to death over forty men and women, but also warning the Emperor of various possibilities regarding the survival of the Empire in the upcoming days. As his advice proved to be valuable, he was granted title in his political station in the Imperial City palace.

The Emperor’s trusted advisers grew wary of Vaultren in what they seemed to call an “unhealthy obsession with the Thalmor.” Some believed he was in league with them when he began to publicly state his disillusionment from the Empire’s policies and ways, and even claiming the Thalmor had a certain efficiency when it came to getting things gone that the Empire lacked. This had placed him in the dossier of the Dominion itself, who believed Vaultren could have been an asset to their cause.

The Thalmor’s beliefs were short-lived as the Emperor and the High Council’s trust increased when Vaultren sniffed out a group of High Elf traitors and had them impaled on stakes deep in the prison dungeons where they remained alive for a period of three days. He even made a speech as to declare the Thalmor menace had to be “bled dry” for their “arrogance and misguided sense of superiority”.

Vaultren was later recruited into the Penitus Oculatus as well, and is planning on making a name for himself within that branch of the Empire’s military. He stands as a man of principle and reputation among the Empire, with a dark drive that would surely rival even the most insidious men and women of the Thalmor.

In the waning days of the war, Vaultren was stripped of his rank and his power by his superiors in the Imperial military. Despite his extensive knowledge and intelligence that surpassed even the wisest of men, they found his tactics too brash and ghastly. He headed to Bruma to plan a trip to Skyrim, to regain his power and his honor in a world mired in chaos.

Motivation for Joining: An unnatural hatred for the Thalmor and it’s representatives. Also due to his support for the Imperial bureaucracy in the Third and Fourth Era which he does not wish to see collapse just yet. Believes the Thalmor are not worthy of the power-base they claim to hold, and so seeks out to destroy them with even more heinous acts and atrocities.

"Thirteenth"? Does it include a tall man that blasphemes and curses like there's no tomorrow? And a centurion that thinks he's jinxed? Are their names also Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus, respectively?

Heh. What can I say. I like referencing stuff.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 20 2012, 07:53 PM

I have no clue what you are talking about. I swear, he isn't based on anything you just said haha. What are you referencing from?

And the thirteenth is just a number I added, since thirteen is my favorite number.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 20 2012, 08:16 PM

Aaaaaaaaaawkward. Why do I always get myself into these situations? Ahem. OK. I'm referencing the very well made TV Series called Rome. It was aired on HBO I think, and the whole series was legendary. To the point that it ended on the 2nd Season because the cast was well, legendary.

And the Thirteenth I flapped my gum about was actually the Thirteenth Legion of RL Rome. Said Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus were part of that Legion (in the series, not RL), and I think I saw some similarities between Vaultren and Vorenus. Strong loyalty to their Empires, part of some elite organization (PO for Vaultren, the Evocatii for Vorenus), and some other stuff my subconscious hides from me.

Look Rome up if it interests you. It was really a fantastic show!

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 20 2012, 08:46 PM

I actually almost got into the show "Rome". I heard good things about it, and also that it was cancelled because of the budget. Funny, I almost rented the first season from blockbuster two days ago. I will get into it, someday maybe. But for some reason I figured you were referencing to that show, because I already watched anything else Roman and etc, so the names were a bit unfamiliar.

Now that you mentioned similarities between characters, I must check it out.

QUOTE(Uleni Athram @ Mar 20 2012, 04:25 PM) *
@Minque: Plot? To be completely honest with you, minque, there isn't any plot. This... RP could be summed up like the Coffee Shop thread. People could come in here and RP with others to get practice or just for the heck of it. We do, however, established a goal. From Cyrodiil, we shall go our way to Skyrim. Reasons are your character's own. Yes, some people might see this as an aimless RP, but have you seen the RP section? Deader than a rat riddled with bullets. This is an attempt to atleast bring it back on its feet. At least I like to think so.

In essence, this; in fact, the general idea so far seems to be centred more on character interaction in an environment not inclined towards a fight breaking out in the start, so that's certainly promising. Plus I'd vote for a largely non-violent RP in any case.

And I'll go get my introductory post up. Travelling semi-professional healer Dumner, go!!

Posted by: jack cloudy Mar 20 2012, 10:42 PM

I remember, Minque. I joined up after AMU. I liked the first rp I was a part of. I don't remember its name, but it was a massive trilogy, though it died at the third part. It taught me a lot of things and there was some place for roleplaying and character development. I mean, sure the second part ended with a war of all things, but we also had a romance or two going on!

Looking back at it, I was one of those who decided it was easier to just swing a sword than hold a striking conversation. That and the urge to outdo everyone else (at mindless destruction and mayhem of course) probably led to a lot of mistakes. But as said, I learned a lot and one thing it gave me is my current preference for characters whose description does not start at their weapons and end at the size of their biceps. Also their age. My guys get older and older it seems.

But I'm gonna shut up and work on my first post now. Hopefully this rp will be the reviving injection the rp-section so desperately needs.

Posted by: The Solo Rollo Mar 20 2012, 11:18 PM

I might join this roleplay, but Im still typing on my phone, so my posts wont be of great standard...

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 21 2012, 04:29 AM

So does this HAVE to be in 4E 200?

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 21 2012, 04:36 AM

Somebody said that it should be on Skyrim's timeline, because it would be easier. Saw one thing about that. The plot of Skyrim. I mean, the dragons. At least with 200, we don't have to deal with those terrors.

Could edit it out if you guys wished.

Posted by: minque Mar 21 2012, 11:40 PM

Maybe everybody has NOT played Skyrim then you rule out participants before it even starts! Ehh I have NOT played it, have no rig that can manage it

But I'm interested in this rp....I'll dig up a characher i reckon

Ah this is a good point, I myself saw the Rp post and...just wow, I thought post were smaller...way smaller.

Posted by: jack cloudy Mar 22 2012, 06:36 PM

My knowledge of Skyrim can be summed up as follows: Something about Dragons and something about noisy Nords. I don't know the geography, the culture, the ecosystem, the factions, guilds, history, landmarks, current events, random naked dudes on the side of the road complaining about witches.

Posted by: minque Mar 22 2012, 07:47 PM

hehe Mr Cloudy, I don't even know THAT much! but I reckon it's a bit like Norway and Northern Sweden when it comes to nature.

Fawkes: In normal RP the posts should NOT be that long, I mean you get tired before you even read it...Now I think the guys will have this like a hybrid between RP and fanfic....You may have noticed some RP-ing with self! You CAN do that....I on the other hand think that can be a bit difficult....But I don't know..hehe i might even RP the continuation of my story....

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Mar 22 2012, 09:56 PM

Well, intro posts are generally longer than most. I'm assuming that once we get into the swing of things, they'll get to a more managable length.

Also, http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/b/b7/SkyrimMap.jpg may come in useful for getting a general idea of the geography of Skyrim. I doubt we'll be sticking all that closely to NPCs and the precise locations, but as long as the major cities and areas are marked out that's probably all that will really be needed to be known in the general scheme of things. And, of course, if you do have more questions that come up in the RP, I certainly wouldn't mind answering them.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 24 2012, 04:51 PM

How sad! The maiden and the bear? Meh! You sure know how to turn a guy down.

Horrible.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 24 2012, 05:13 PM

Innumerable apologies, ser! But I'm afraid two beats one. Besides. Yelling the fall of the Dominion's general in a packed inn of a city under the control of an empire, which in turn is watched over by a fantastically racist Elven government would make even an adrenaline junkie like Celdryn froze over.

But singing it?

Au revoir, mon petit chapeau! I shall run away to someplace exotic! Like Blackmarsh.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 24 2012, 05:20 PM

Eh, true. Most people don't want to end up crucified or tortured because they bragged about a lord's defeat. So, any ideas on how the story can progress?

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 24 2012, 06:02 PM

Yeah. Unlike the previous incarnations, this Celdryn doesn't like slow deaths. He just likes tempting it. And with the chance to escape if things get drastic. Keh. The Thalmor have long memories. Escape would be impossible.

QUOTE
So, any ideas on how the story can progress?

I've been thinking about this, actually. And that line of thinking has got me to wacky and zany places, and the plot of Skyrim too, but that's all irrelevant. Apart from that crazy idea, I have one suggestion.

What I suggest is that we let the character themselves decide which way the story progresses. I'm starting to delve deep within the junkie's personality and way of thinking, and I take this as a good sign.

Let the characters interact and interact and see where that takes them. The destination is pre-destined to be Skyrim of course, but the ride there should be fun.

Take that for what it is. I gotta work on my post.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 24 2012, 06:35 PM

Fair enough, the conversation can lead to multiple branches of possibilities! I don't blame Cedryn. Vaultren wouldn't like it either, and he probably hates the Thalmor more than anyone else, but like everyone else he has to keep his mouth shut.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 26 2012, 07:44 PM

I'm not sure if Vaultren actually made his intentions clear. Perhaps it was poor writing on my part, but his expression in regards to what he is thinking is sort of unclear. It wasn't the case for him with the song and his anger issues, but I guess toward women he is more secretive.

But then again, Cerdryn is a bard so he could have super reading abilities. It's not far fetched. But I was just throwing it out there.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Mar 28 2012, 04:23 PM

Yep. Thread is dead. I just might take my leave.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Mar 29 2012, 03:36 PM

So... 2-3 days passed and the RP stood still and you deem it dead? I don't consider that RP dead. More like the RPers taking a break and getting things done IRL, because y'know, we can't really devote all our time to an RP.

In any case, I completed what school demanded from me and I am now working on my post. Apologies though, guys. I should've popped in earlier to announce the attack of RL, but what can you do, you know? A 15 page length essay (at least) can be a distraction. Especially if said essay is your evaluation essay.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Apr 2 2012, 10:57 PM

You alive, Colonel Mustard? Haha. Seems the Elf and the Breton are getting along just fine. And getting ahead too.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Apr 14 2012, 06:37 PM

Anyone else have the feeling we lost a bit of sense of direction?

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Apr 14 2012, 06:51 PM

I wouldn't say we've so much lost a sense of direction at the moment, so much, as we're in the middle of a conversation at the moment, so things are going to slow down a bit just naturally. But we do seem to have lost people. Jack, Uleni, where are you two at?

Posted by: jack cloudy Apr 14 2012, 08:49 PM

Well, I'm in the middle of a mixture of real life, kogobal written into a corner and trying to figure just where the hell I'm going with Redemption. But anyway, maybe I should butt in now that the conversation has gotten to Skyrim?

Ah, one of those mixtures. Fair enough.

Still, if you wish to butt in then now seems to be a good time to.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Apr 15 2012, 01:32 AM

I'm downed for the count, remember? Kehehehehe. Its also my sly way of stalling time; I'm busy recently with school, so I may not have the chance to reply as I like.

But don't mind me, I'll wake up soon enough. Probably. Will make another character if I deem myself envious of the RPing. Which, naturally, I am. Out of ideas though.

Probably will use Miripos the Red, a ex-insurgent-Thalmor-turned serial killer that wants to escape to Skyrim. That'll spice things up, yes?

Name: Sasfiel
Race: Altmer
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Home Country: Chorrol, Cyrodiil
Faction and Rank: None
Faction Description: None
Class: Serving Wench
Class Description: It might not compliment her elven heritage, but it certainly fits her attitude and the body she vessels herself in. With her looks alone, she could net tips from various customers far larger than her meagre wage can provide with tactical flashes of her skin. Personally though, she finds her occupation boring and wishes for more thrilling jobs, but life is life. Mayve someday she could experience much more exhilirating jobs, but she doubts it.
Skills: Her days or nights flirting with drunken patrons has sharpened her tongue somewhat, and she could sway people with her voice given enough time. The voice and the body gestures makes well for a lethal combination. She could also hold her own with a dagger; her looks can net her in trouble and she has a to defend herself.
Appearance: Of all her lushy appearance, her eyes stands out the most. Wide and bright, its innocent stare can convince people with hard-hearts and makes them easier to sway. The golden stare can make men's knees weak as jellies, and when angered, it could also be the glare from hell.
Eyes: Gold, with specks of amber in the irises. She keeps it bright and shiny as well-peeled gold-colored eggs.
Build: Slender. One could also detect hints of muscle, but they're usually much more focused on Sasfiel's hypnotizing eyes.
Personality: Vivacious. Daring. And most of all, a thrill-seeker. Gets easily bored when things go stale.
Weapons: An ordinary steel dagger.
Clothing: Tavern clothes.
Miscellaneous: She keeps several letters stuffed in a pouch tied to her waist. The contents is very important to her, and she keeps an eye out for pickpockets mistaking the pouch for money.
Magic: None.
History: Sasfiel was born near Chorrol to a pair of Altmeri farmers that struggled with the local animosity and the obstacles of finance. Her parents manage to get her some basic education. but all of that stopped when Sasfiel discovered the joys of being a rebel. She severed the ties between her and her parents, and became part of several chain gangs. While mostly harmless, the gangs did have encounters that turned violent, and sometimes, she was involved in it. A particular, bloody gang war made her decide to cut all ties to the criminal organization and returned to her parents. While repentant, she still had the rebellious fire in her, and refused to be farmer like her parents. She went back to the city and found work as a serrving wench in Tal'Jhiro's establishment.

OOC: This is my first time RPing a woman. I hope I didn't stray too far in the Mary Sue territory...

Sweet character! Another Altmer! Now post, for goodness sake! biggrin.gif

Posted by: jack cloudy Apr 23 2012, 05:16 PM

Regarding the timeskip to the next day. I'm fine with it, but I kinda want Mustard's input on it first, see if he wants to continue the conversation between Kogobal and Alvara or call it a day.

I feel old just saying that.

Eh, now is a good time for Vaultren to pop up, right?

Posted by: jack cloudy May 24 2012, 07:05 PM

He did get a headstart but then the rest kinda cheated by teleporting. So sure, bring him in! Don't expect a warm welcome though!

Uleni you son of a gun! That was not expected.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jun 2 2012, 03:33 PM

Shhhh... The raven shall call when the moon waxes, and you shall be given encrypting knowledge on how to combat this new threat...

Anyway, I'm back. kehehehehehehAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAARGH.

I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE for the next few weekends atleast. Technically I should be studying cuz its Examination Week, but nooooooooooooooooooou. I did my studies, and I shall come home to Chorrol early. God knows I need my RP fix. Hur Hur Hur.

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Jun 3 2012, 10:01 AM

For those who are interested, I've stuck up a quick list of spells that Alvara knows on her character sheet; just a useful way to curtail the temptation to pull ones I want out of thin air instead of learning new ones over the course of the RP when they're actually bought.

Now to see how I can sort out this mess you caused, Uleni...

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jun 3 2012, 11:05 AM

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I can assure you guys that this is not a mess. I mean, yeah, that was quite a sudden douchebaggery I pulled on you guys... BUT DRAMA. I LOVE SCHISMS AND FALLOUTS AND ALL THAT. It was just kinda my way to errr, spice up the RP. Celdryn is a man of action. *sinister laugh* And he doesn't trust Vaultren, let alone having him on the trip To The North. So..... he'll determine in a test of sorts if the Imperial wouldn't kill us on the way To The North. Like I said, my way (or Celdryn's) of spicing up the RP. My apologies if it took you offguard.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jun 14 2012, 12:46 AM

I might just add in a new character. Am I allowed?

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Jun 14 2012, 08:04 PM

So long as they aren't as much of a colossally self-righteous and insufferable prick as Vaultren is, that's fine by me.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jun 14 2012, 08:23 PM

laugh.gif

He is meant to be hated.

Edit: I vote timeskip to move things along! How about that?

Posted by: jack cloudy Jun 14 2012, 09:40 PM

Fine with me on both matters. But try to keep the new guy someone we can like and trust. Or at least someone who keeps his hidden dark side hidden. With the distrust we have going on right now, we're already jumping through too many loopholes to keep the gang together.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jun 14 2012, 10:50 PM

Well, his dark side of killing the girl and being a Pentulis Oculatus who hates the Thalmor is revealed, I think you can trust Vaultren now. He knows how everyone distrusts him now, so he'll try to reconcile with everyone the best way he can. Form some friendships.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jun 28 2012, 03:05 PM

I hope I didn't scare anyone away. But are you guys still onboard or are we going to call it a quits?

Posted by: jack cloudy Jun 28 2012, 06:13 PM

I'm still in. I just thought I should wait and give the others a chance to interact before it turned into the Vaultren and Kogobal show. That, and I've been wasting my days trying to cram out some more fanfiction so I haven't been paying much attention to the forums. (Who knew that writing about the Mythic Dawn as anything other than a faceless mob of baddies could be so hard? I mean, I don't even remember a single character of that group!)

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jul 16 2012, 02:44 PM

I think I may drop out. No one is posting.

Everyone just gave up and abandoned it.

Sweet! What do I do?

Never been in one before, do I need to be filled in beforehand?

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jul 23 2012, 04:09 AM

You join in the fun.

The story so far is that a group of people were in the Chorrol tavern in town, and our characters met there. Kogobal(Jack's character) is an Altmer scholar looking to follow up on the rumors on a god or gods showing up in Skyrim, so he seeks to go there. Alvara, a female Dunmer healer, also seeks to go there to put her abilities to good use and also follow Kobogal on his journey.

Meanwhile, in the tavern, Vaultren(my character) is assaulted by an evil Thalmor assassin responsible for many deaths of innocent people. Vaultren is a wanted man by the Thalmor and former agent of the Penulus Oculatus. He defends himself and kills the woman and leaves the tavern. Kogobal, Celdryn(A crazy Breton bard) and Alvara continue their path and come across Vaultren and go onto Skyrim, though their relationships is shaky. In the Jerall Mountains, they rest in a cave the former Imperial tribune came across.

So...I guess people stopped posting in the cave. Maybe you can meet us there or write up about your character being in the cave when we arrive, as we are currently exploring it. Though I warn you, everyone abandoned the thread.

LOL, yeah. That's the only way I could think of Celdryn escaping, really You're an eeeevil right busterd for doing that, btw. I liked it. As for the plannedending, well... haha, I guess I just like being a thunderbolt!

I'm very very very very very inclined to start RPing again in Chorrol. I thought about joining the OfFor to RP there, because seriously. There are tons of fun RPers out there and they're reliable. To post. To keep their thing alive.

But I keep going back to Chorrol because the people here are nice and laidback. The rules here are reasonable, the Mods more so. None of that tight leash when telling something results in you getting flamed or worse.

So how about it guys? Will we try again? sad.gif

I would be interested, but if we start doing a new one, I'd suggest we get someone to act as the Game Master; the last one suffered due to a lack of direction and storytelling cohesion, with some people moving it forwards and some others too hesitant to do anything for annoying other players (I'll confess I was in the latter category).

If we have something laying out plotline and situations, however, that problem is avoided and the RP would probably benefit from having a more definite sense of direction.

I agree. Someone controlling the flow and actually direct us to our goal, even while giving out twists and turns to sweeten the plot, would be a welcome change indeed from all the usual lets band together boys! situations. Take a look at my dead RP Shards of a Broken Empire. I exerted a little control over there, not so much that I railroad the RPers but just nudge them softly. Played with several ideas there too. Without a doubt, my greatest RP session yet.

So yes. I agree that we need GM to shepherd the plot.

I have another idea too.

Opposite teams. As in the antagonists played by RPers. In my opinion, that adds much much more drama and competitive fun to the whole thing, and players would more inclined to stay and RP, scheming on how to overthrow the hero team, rather than just go with the flow.

I don't know how this would mesh with the GM thing though. What are your thoughts, Colonel?

Eh, I'm not so sure about that. I'll admit that I've never done anything like that before, but if there's a GM already providing antagonistic forces then a designated enemy group who appear from day one may not quite work. I'm not certain, though.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 7 2013, 01:30 PM

Think about it this way. The antagonists are the 'enemy bosses'. Some of their decisions could and would alter and affect the storyline in the whole; but ultimately, they answer to the GM, and the GM would decide if he'll allow it to happen. Sure, he could generate the general baddies, but the Antagonists are something else entirely..

But if that doesn't work out in your logic, then let's stick with the GM-only scenario. Its always better to try the old and tested rather than the new and unknown anyway.

Assuming of course we won't be the only ones who'll RP.

Buffy and I could be quite interested in trying our hand at RP. We’ve never done it before, but I can be pretty reliable, know how to write and we’d be happy to follow the direction of those with more experience in this arena.

As you probably know, Buffy’s nurturing and stealthy nature makes her a fine ‘support’ character as healer and/or scout. She’s also both gregarious and talkative. We can be pretty flexible in where, when and how, within Tamriel, a scenario takes place and unfolds.

Acadian! This is... quite the honor! To have an esteemed writer such as yourself join us... a tremendous honor, if I repeat myself again!

RPing, in my opinion, is quite easy. You'd get the hang of it soon enough. Its exciting and utterly fun. Like writing, its main goal is to enjoy those two!

Posted by: Acadian Jan 7 2013, 04:58 PM

Uleni, you humble me with your warm welcome. I'm sure it will take some adjustment to write in third person - but an adjustment that I would like to make. I will also have to get used to walking a 'fiction' update from inception through editing to posting within hours instead of months, lol. I do look forward to learning and participating! smile.gif

Ooh, a new victim volunteer!

Good to have you here, Acadian. You should probably enjoy RPing, it's good fun.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 7 2013, 05:23 PM

Joys of the RPs, friend. Those are the joys of the RP!

EDIT: We posted at the same time, Colonel! Didn't see it until now really!

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 10 2013, 01:20 PM

So, uhh, yeah. The three of us are willing and/or interested RPing. Kinda like DnD size, but that's alright. You guys still up for it?

Posted by: Acadian Jan 10 2013, 01:55 PM

I'm still up for trying it. I played Baldur's Gate II for years and am pretty comfortable in a smallish DnD type adventuring party. As long as it's a medieval fantasy setting, I'm happy. smile.gif

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Jan 10 2013, 02:12 PM

I'd still be happy to, certainly. It might be a good idea, once we've got an idea for an RP worked out, to start up a separate discussion thread for it as well as the RP. It might get some other people noticing there's a new one starting up, too, and potentially a few more people.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 10 2013, 03:15 PM

Good idea there, Colonel. Lets start debating then.

OK. Lets start with the basics. First off, the setting. I'm quite fine wherever, but ultimately I'd prefer Skyrim or Cyrodiil. Its easy to visualize both, and we're all familiar with them. But like I said, I'm fine with wherever.

The timeline. Quite important, IMO. It dictates the surroundings and the political climate and whatnot. Would it be The Crisis or would it be Alduin's Reawakening? If we're going to go with the whole GM thing, I'm leaning towards the latter. Its easy for a GM to just spam the party with sudden dragons or... THE THALMOR! Dun dun duuuun! But those are just the encounters. We'd have to deal with ongoing political tension in the air too. That sort of thing.

Then... the plot. Weeeellll... I DO have quite a few unused RP plotlines stashed somewhere in my files, and I'll search for 'em later, but I can't guarantee anything epic.

My two cents. What about you guys? Any ideas?

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Jan 10 2013, 03:41 PM

I'm not too bothered either way, but I'm leaning towards Cyrodiil myself, maybe in a post-Crisis setting; if we get more people on board then we've got a setting that they're more likely to be familiar with, and I'd just quite like to kick about Cyrodiil again in any case.

Posted by: Darkness Eternal Jan 10 2013, 06:33 PM

The last RP died, sadly. I saw it coming. I don't think I'll bring Draken/Vaultren around for this one. His guts were hated. But I would love to return with new characters depending on the timeline, though.

Posted by: Acadian Jan 10 2013, 07:15 PM

I'm pleased to hear we're talking a TES backdrop. I'd adore a post OB crisis Cyridiil, but am very flexible and willing to teleport Buffy across province borders and/or into different eras of TES history or future.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 11 2013, 04:50 AM

Ahh, Darkness. Glad to see you here. I implore you to bring Vaultren back. He's a magnificent b@stard.

OK, so popular demand .. demands Cyrodiil. That's cool. Makes things easier infact. I've been searching around, yeah, for the unused RP plots and I came around this gem (atleast for me). Its set in Cyrodiil and concerns the mystery of Sutch. Or rather, the disappearance of the city of Sutch. A bit AU-ish, since y'know, there is no city of Sutch but only ruins, but I've always been intrigued and humoured some ideas.

Another one is this, although its set in the Second Era and concerns the War of Righteousness and the dissolution of the Alessian Order. Admittedly, this is still in the works (mainly the timeline, since we don't know anything about the War) and I had ideas about making it a FanFic.

Yeah. My two plots. How about you guys? Any ideas?

Posted by: Colonel Mustard Jan 11 2013, 05:53 PM

A city being destroyed or simply disappearing could make for a very interesting premise for an RP, and that one's got my vote. Plus I'm thinking of a rogue-type character for this, and he'd probably work best in a primarily urban setting.

And DE is here too! Excellent, more folks!

Posted by: Acadian Jan 11 2013, 07:04 PM

Uleni, both scenarios sound good to me, but I'll join Mustard in leaning toward the Sutch one. And nice that DE may join us!

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 11 2013, 07:11 PM

Oook. Didn't expect the Sutch plot to garner such votes! OK then, unless there'd be a sudden rush of new members and overrule the current voting, it'll be Sutch. You guys still wanna wait for members, or should I or somebody else make the RP sign-up thread? Oh, and we're still going with this GM thing, yes?

I reckon now would be a good time to start the sign-up/character/discussion thread. I'll go fire it up now, in fact.

Come to think of it, seeing as we're working out this setting, we may want to get at least an outline of what Sutch is going to be like if you have got one already, Uleni. The basic layout, who the count is, what important buildings/people there are there, any political situations there, that sort of thing.

And I'm assuming that the GM thing is still happening, yes.
