Chorrol.com _ Skyrim cheats and hints _ Skyrim Screenshots

Posted by: Grits Sep 9 2013, 02:03 PM

Is it possible that we don't have a thread for this yet? Someone please speak up if we do and I missed it.

This thread is in the Spoilers area, so be advised that there will be spoilers.

So, screenshots from Skyrim. If yours are snapshots of your TV screen (like mine), don't be shy. I want to see them. smile.gif

Here are some pictures I took of the spider scrolls (Dragonborn content) for mALX. They feature Jensa and Stenvar with some cute little pets. If you don't want to see spiders, don't click. tongue.gif

I absolutely Love these spiders! Are they part of a DLC or are they in the vanilla game?

Posted by: SubRosa Sep 9 2013, 07:14 PM

Couldn't we have pictures of something less icky? Like a bunny, or some ducks? wink.gif

mALX, those spideys are from the Dragonborn DLC. You can get them (and make them), In White Ridge Barrow. My current character was just there the night before Grits mentioned them on the What's New thread.

You know what they say: A spider in the hand is worth two in the bush, but a spider eating an enemy's face is absolutely priceless.

That shot of the College of Winterhold is spectacular!

I remember Sun Rising with that butterfly on the rock. happy.gif Beautiful!

What a neat sky over Winterhold. I know it doesn't always snow there, but it sure seems like it!

I always loved that butterfly pic. Windhelm looks very warm in inviting in that shot!

That fire actually looks warm in the Windhelm picture! Nice.

I love that view of Whiterun and the Ritual stone, SubRosa. And I don’t remember her name, but I recognize that character’s awesome armor even from the back.

Moon over Dawnstar is stunning! I love that wolf - it doesn't seem to be attacking her, have you brought your friendly animals to Skyrim? Also, the girl is beautiful, she has to be modded - would love to know what mods you used to achieve that beauty!

I did bring my friendly animals mod to Skyrim. You can get it http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10860/. It does not effect animals added by the dlcs though.

!!!Some of these links are not work safe or kid safe!!!

I have spent a lot of time tweaking my appearance mod loadout for women (and for men too) So far what I am using is this, installed in this order (because some things overwrite parts of others):
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6709 (but I deleted the two female body .nif files)
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3563
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30050/
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16731
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20483
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/689/
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7625/

I do not use any mods that convert the regular armor or clothes to the UNP body. By deleting the two body nif files, I essentially have the same body shape as the vanilla body, but get the higher res hands, feet, and body textures. What I noticed with UNP is that the body size slider is really just a boob size slider. That is all it changes. Really. So I whacked the two files and now the body slider works the same as in vanilla. I liked the UNP Slim Body too, but some of my characters are not supposed to be that little and skinny looking. Like Hrafn in the Wolf pic. She's a big ole' Nord chick, and needs to look the part. I also don't get the naked bush on all the women in the game either, as the lack of underwear is built into the two body.nif files. So I don't have to worry about adding in the underwear options (one of which CTD'd on me).

These affect both male and female characters. The install order does not matter:

I cannot think of a single character of mine who would want anything to do with a dremora, except of course to kill it. So for me the drum is the only option there.

Its a spectral drum that you can summon. I think it does something with your stamina regen. One of those kind of powers that I never remember to use. That's why I cannot remember exactly what it does. It is one of the rewards in one of the Black Book quests in the Dragonborn dlc.

It makes a great nightlight in a dungeon, lol. I looked it up, you are right on the stamina regen. I like the look of it, it is kind of a unique summon.

Here's one I took a little while ago when Lildereth went to find Abiene (NPC) where she works in Whiterun. Lil was patient for a while while Abiene tried to heal this poor woman. Eventually she whispered, http://i.imgur.com/ueS3Hj5.png tongue.gif

Both Lil and Abiene have very nice looking outfits. smile.gif

Posted by: Acadian Nov 15 2013, 04:44 PM

Oh, Grits, Lil and Abiene look great in Skyrim! Very recognizable, but they are clearly taking advantage of what Skyrim offers for them. You've done such a nice job with both them and, as KC said, their outfits. The ranger version of Triss armor looks fabulous on Lil!

Hilarious story! I second Acadian. Both Lil and Abie are easily recognizable in their Sky incarnations. The Triss outfit looks perfect for Lil, and Abiene looks foxy in her fox wrap! wink.gif

Posted by: Grits Nov 16 2013, 03:08 PM

That Triss outfit gives Lil quite the lush little bottom, so it’s a favorite of those who walk behind her. tongue.gif She wears it a lot between Lakeshore and Whiterun where things are pretty predictable and safe. It’s neat how the color variations suit such different characters. Lil likes to disappear into the shadows in her green one, while D’Eon’s contrasting stripes make her stand out. smile.gif

My crew’s Skyrim is still a cautious work in progress as we seek a richer world without making it an unplayable one. http://i.imgur.com/s3HJ0cg.png we have Jerric rooting through the scraggliest bushes in Skyrim while Darnand and Lil say WTF. Jerric has been known to go to great lengths for his friends, including putting down his sandwich long enough to demand mods that do not interest him, specifically. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4955/ for example. He knows that Colder Ice and Moar Trollz are unlikely to coax any mystic elven archers from the warm south. So he got some http://i.imgur.com/sarJLzL.png. happy.gif

(The Nord hastens to explain that no moths were captured in the pursuit of this small joy. Just the image. tongue.gif )

Posted by: Acadian Nov 16 2013, 03:23 PM

Grits, how well Jerric knows his elven mystic archers! Honestly, I can think of no better way to entice Buffy up to the tundra than with such beautiful butterflies! wub.gif

Posted by: King Coin Nov 16 2013, 04:36 PM

Those bugs look gorgeous! Aravi's world might be getting them as well.

Posted by: Grits Nov 16 2013, 05:16 PM

KC, I also thought of you right away. I have the low res version, and I bet the bugs would be stunning in Aravi's gorgeous world! That picture of yours with the mountain and the tiny orange butterfly on the rock in the sun is unforgettable. smile.gif

Look carefully to the upper right. Lord Haaf-Mersey and Rayya the Over-killer slaughtered a bunch of witches in Hag's End. He went into the next room and found a lever to pull. This lever apparently closed a gate which impaled one of the witches (which had fallen on some stairs). When Haaf-Mersey had to pull the same lever several hours later, this witch was now stuck to the door which impaled it.

It adds decorations inside and outside including player homes, plus some other things like holiday vendors and making people more likely to walk up and give you gifts. That’s where my avatar Jensa’s hat came from. The avatar picture is from her fledgling PC game. hehe.gif Sorry, did I mention I’m on muscle relaxers for an injury? I’m surely making even less sense than usual! ohmy.gif

Jerric’s crew (all of them together in Abiene’s game, plus the dog) will shortly embark upon a province-wide tour to enjoy the season. I’m sure I’ll have more screenshots, but I’ll likely put them with write-ups in the Today In, Spoilers version thread. smile.gif

I really like Darnand's robe in that pic. And I see Abiene has a flower in her hair. The red in that dress goes nicely with it.

Posted by: Grits Jan 3 2014, 06:37 PM

I made Lil the height of Breton women, so she is definitely short! I made Abiene a little taller than vanilla Breton women since she is supposed to be taller than Lil. Eventually I’ll remember to change the scale of Lil’s bow. wacko.gif Abiene loves her hair flowers, thank you for pointing them out to me! happy.gif Those red ones are the flowers that made me look at a hundred dresses to find an acceptable match. And then Abiene wore the other dress to court.

Darnand’s robe comes from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49130/. Abiene picked it out for him.

I didn't do anything to the female hair I was struggling with for the Dark elf girl Sephia, and suddenly it fits Elante! I think I may have a case of save bake in Galen's game, and it's fixed, but not affecting her.

My current Skyrim test character is an Altmer, and she'll be taking these two to Lakeview Manor once I have their dialog built. I have them living in the basement of the Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude, which is otherwise abandoned, as are they.

I wanted to find her an Altmer husband, but the choice of races is very restricted. No Khajiit, no Bosmer, of either sex, and the only Altmer is Taarie. I may just have Rayya look after them while she's adventuring, and leave her single.

Posted by: ghastley Jan 19 2014, 04:00 PM

Fleur wanted to go back to Solstheim - there were a few loose ends last time she visited.

One was the Deathbrand armor - it's not her style, but she was fascinated by the concept of Stahlrim, and the Axe was her idea of what an Axe should be - one that deserves a capital letter.

So she collected it and http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/StahlrimFleur.jpg. It goes well http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/StahlrimAxe.jpg but she feels a bit suffocated in that much stuff, and Thor (her bear) doesn't think much of it either. Still, it does have a Fortify Carry Weight enchantment, so at least she could carry it back to Raven Rock and hang it on a mannequin in her house there. She's off to collect the rest of the Dragon Priest masks - she has all the mainland ones, and only two of the Island ones so far. Since there are four mannequins in Severin Manor, and four masks, she wants the set.

Posted by: Acadian Jan 19 2014, 04:10 PM

An Orc with her Axe! Just doesn't get any better than that. What else could a girl possibly need? tongue.gif

Posted by: ghastley Jan 26 2014, 01:11 AM

So Fleur's axe has got Pala wanting a sword made from Stahlrim. It took her some time to get her Smithing perks to make one, as she'd been all on the Light Armour side, and Stahlrim needs the Ebony perk.

Now http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/PalaStahlrimSword.jpg, but she's hankering for a Dragonbone version, that will need Smithing maxed out. She's reached 100 only in Two-handed so far, and could really use the final Light Armour Agile Defender perk to get double defense.

Fleur's new Axe is indeed deserving of the capital letter. Does she want a Stahlrim outfit that Thor would tolerate? Its Frost Resist enchantment would keep her 25% warmer than any other material!

Fleur only wears the Stahlrim on Solstheim, as Thor doesn't follow her there. She takes it off and leaves it on a mannequin at Severin Manor when she goes back to the mainland.

Pala has been grinding up her skill in smithing, by making gold rings with all the gemstones she's found. She just spent a day in Kolskeggr Mine, and transmuted some iron ore for good measure. So she finally hit 100, and just needed a level up, so she could take the Dragon smithing perk. We decide to collect all the Dragon Priest masks, as she would undoubtedly get a level doing that. It took a couple of Dwemer ruins, too, but finally...

http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/PalasSword.jpg

Incidentally, that armor she's wearing has a rating of 540, including http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/PalaPortrait2.jpg The amulet is just for looks, doesn't have any enchantment, yet.

Posted by: Grits Jan 27 2014, 02:29 PM

Nice! That sword looks good with Pala’s leather.

Jensa (having moved to the laptop) is nearly ready to make things with dragon bones. She needs more materials, I think one more perk, and some time to get back to the forge. Right now she’s looking for Skyhaven Temple. I expect she’ll collect some more bones on the way. She won’t give up her Skyforge steel greatsword or Nordic scrimshaw bow, but Stenvar will get some dragonbone weapons to try. Jensa is mostly interested in dragonbone arrows.

I think she may skip tying the knot with Stenvar this time. I don’t know if it’s a bug that’s been unofficially fixed, but marriage removed all of his follower chatter before. It’s been nice to hear him talk again.

And before I ramble too long in the screenshots thread, here’s one of Jerric (follower) and Lildereth’s little http://i.imgur.com/jd8VJCS.png. Lil is playing cat-and-mouse with the sabre cats. Jerric really has to keep up and stay on his toes. If she misses with that second arrow, she’s lunch. So far he’s doing great.

Posted by: ghastley Jan 27 2014, 10:56 PM

I like the "his and hers" tree-stumps of appropriate sizes. I assume the camp is your own mod - are the stumps dynamically sized to the using character, or did you set them up statically that way? And how long did that take?

I remember having a lot of effort to get characters of other than unit size to sit properly on furniture in Oblivion. Short characters would sit below the seat, and tall ones above. Aranxa, my female Xivilai NPC, needed a lot of work to get her to sit on a throne properly, as she was 1.5x normal size.

Posted by: Grits Jan 27 2014, 11:23 PM

That’s http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10824/ portable stuff. I think it’s a trick of perspective plus Lil’s seat is lower on the slope. Here’s a http://i.imgur.com/z7KyxRc.png. Her seat is a bit forward and sinking into the ground a little. I was grinning at the his-n-hers effect in the picture, but I can't really take credit for it. biggrin.gif

NPC Jerric tends to try out the beds in various places, and I’ve watched him shrink down before he gets in. He’s I think 1.02 scale. It’s very strange to see.

Posted by: Grits Jan 28 2014, 10:08 PM

Here’s a scene on the way to Sky Haven Temple. The party ran afoul of a couple of wolves (in the first two minutes of the journey), and events quickly escalated. Here in http://i.imgur.com/e5UtOBS.png Jensa is viewing the person she is supposed to “escort safely” and slowly realizing that along with the Sanguine Rose Stenvar carries a blade with a chance to paralyze an enemy.

This could be a long trip.

It is right on the border of Eastmarch and The Rift. It is up in the mountains straight west of Lost Knife Hideout, and south of Hillgrund's Tomb. There is a little path that goes west from Lost Knife Hideout that will take you by it.

Posted by: Grits Feb 22 2014, 02:22 AM

Yep, that’s the best way to find the tree bridge. It’s an awesome shortcut to discover! Plus the view from the cliffs is amazing.

The sea ghosts and katana picture is also from Yngol Barrow. Immersive Weapons adds some loot, plus it swaps out some of the stuff that’s already lying around. That was an iron katana of some sort. The little lights at their feet were bouncing all around. Very cute! Er, when they’re not leading anyone to their deaths on the icy sea. hehe.gif

Darnand would be astonished at the thought of someone admiring his shirtless self. laugh.gif He is determined to overlook the amulets clipping through those robes. The Amulet of Arkay is the worst!

OK, pictures. Here’s one from a little while ago when Valdi fell in with some rough company. http://i.imgur.com/E7IjNOx.png. (That guy is a mod.)

From Lil’s game the gang http://i.imgur.com/A3btpTW.png in the Dawnstar inn. They just walked in from the road and started to party. Karita was singing, though it looks like she's in a staring contest with Erandur. Lil was not in the mood.

And since I figured out how to use WB Profiles I made an average, forgettable guy with a silly name to see if my laptop could handle some mods starting with Vilja In Skyrim. As these things happen I actually adore him. Long may he run. Here’s http://i.imgur.com/PfqdyOn.png with his cousin Erik the Slayer. From that dialogue, it sounds like Vilja is looking for Jerric and Lil!

Where is that location? .. I'm afraid of heights (even in vid games sometimes) so that would give me shivers.

It is right on the border of Eastmarch and The Rift. It is up in the mountains straight west of Lost Knife Hideout, and south of Hillgrund's Tomb. There is a little path that goes west from Lost Knife Hideout that will take you by it.

Thanks! I just copy/pasted this info and put it in a special place so I won't forget.

I have some creepy Mycharonna pics to share in a few ! Heh heh heh.... ph34r.gif

That fallen tree-come-bridge on Eastmarch is awesome. Another really cool spot in the game.

Grits, I think it's so cool how u have a massive party everywhere you go. If I had a PC some of my characters would have entire armies. I agree with Subrosa, Jerric certaintly meets the criteria of huge, drunk Nord laugh.gif

Awesome! emot-ninja1.gif I like hearing this, thank you!

BTW, when you click on those links, does it pull up just an image, or are you seeing the entire Photobucket page? .. It's kind of hit or miss for me. Mostly it'll show the entire page (ads and all) which is pretty annoying, only occasionally will it show just the image.

I'm thinking about finding a site that just links us to images, cuz I'd be embarrassed if I'm linking you all to the full page, so any ideas are welcome.

Sometimes it brings up the photo bucket page, and sometimes it doesn't.

I've been using imgur because you can always just link to the image and not the whole site. Imgur has its own issues though.

Posted by: Vital Feb 23 2014, 02:14 AM

Those pics are great Renee! I particularly like moons and auroras.

For me the link brings up the whole website...

Posted by: Acadian Feb 23 2014, 02:25 AM

Nice shots of your vampiress, Renee. Pretty much what KC said on bringing them up. PB does that sometimes. There does seem to be some consistency. The first time a viewer brings it up, it brings up the whole PB page. If you then bring it up again, it shows just the screenshot. I have images on both PB and imgur, and I have the same problem with PB.

Posted by: Grits Feb 23 2014, 03:16 AM

I had the same thought when Vilja said that. WHAT did you just call Lil?! laugh.gif

I used the old Nord guy preset with the white beard and just changed it to make Otto look like Erik. That’s a good preset. I thought I was making them a little different by giving Otto a beard, but Erik has a beard too. Should have looked at a picture first to refresh my memory. I was going for cousins, not twins! laugh.gif

Renee, those pictures of Mycharonna are great! Awaiting Twilight is my favorite. Very ominous, I felt sorry for the residents of Whiterun who don’t know what terror is gazing down at them! ohmy.gif I’ve switched to imgur over the issue you mentioned.

Posted by: Renee Gade IV Feb 23 2014, 12:13 PM

I'm going to try something here....

http://C:\Users\Renee\Pictures\Moons_and_auroras.jpg

Ahh didn't work. Was trying to see if I could link straight to pics in the actual folder on my computer, but this doesn't seem possible. Another thing I can try is to see if photobucket allows paid subscriptions. This way I can get rid of all the ads, and hopefully there's an option to link straight to images.

Chorrol's got an Insert Image button, but this isn't it, either.

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 23 2014, 04:15 PM

I stopped using Photobucket for the same reason. Like a lot of people, I moved to Imgur. It does have a option to link to the picture only, without any other annoying junk.

Valdi’s story is unfolding in an unusual way. She has two games and an NPC life with Sir M, plus there’s her NPC self with the Jerric family all happening at once but in different times. Sir Magul is in the middle, so whatever happens to him I’m sure Valdi will survive to pile some rocks on his grave! tongue.gif

Valdi with Kharjo and KC’s Aravi keeping an eye on a http://i.imgur.com/dRmRdiH.png as they pass by. Valdi loved traveling with those two. wub.gif

From Otto’s game: Vilja is leading Otto to an unknown destination here. She’s saying, http://i.imgur.com/rTwuXpt.png They had some things to sell by the time they got to Riften. ohmy.gif

Here’s Neph in the bowels of some ruin saying, http://i.imgur.com/ahPmVj6.png

Young Ninette got involved with the troubles at the Western Watchtower. In this picture I swung the camera around to make a save right when a guard said http://i.imgur.com/x77osXh.png during Irileth’s pep talk. I snorted but Ninette took him seriously.

And here are two views of the final scene in Avanchnzel, I imagine restored by the unofficial patch or Cutting Room Floor. That’s Valdi counting the centurions and peeing her pants a little. http://i.imgur.com/ADJP4tE.png and http://i.imgur.com/8eSuyaA.png.

Posted by: ghastley Mar 28 2014, 07:47 PM

That's exactly the way I've seen it with a couple of my characters. The two steaming centurions are alive but frozen, and my follower won't leave them alone, until I disable them with the console. That also means the follower is no help with the one that does need attention.

Hope they're not fully active in your game. Three at once does get nasty.

That image of Ninette reminds me I must check out a cape/cloak mod. (Or make some of my own).

Posted by: Grits Mar 28 2014, 07:54 PM

The scene with the two steaming centurions and spectral Breya played out and Valdi only had to fight the real one standing on the far left (not steaming yet) in the end. At first it looks like there will be three! ohmy.gif

Ninette is inspired by your She-Hulk efforts, by the way. biggrin.gif I had to find her some glasses!

Posted by: SubRosa Mar 28 2014, 08:40 PM

I'm not sure if Jennifer Walters consistently wore glasses through the multiple artists who drew those comics. And anyhow, they're a bit anachronistic for my Skyrim tastes. http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/Genevieve.jpg, my Breton version of her, who's on her way to becoming a properly academic mage. Her hair style is the same one that She-Hulk uses, but I'll probably try and arrange it so her normal hair is more formal, and it looks like that when she transforms back.

Posted by: Grits Mar 28 2014, 10:19 PM

Oh I was way off with my already limited memory of Jennifer. Somehow I remembered her white blouse as a lab coat. I didn’t even have her profession right. Genevieve looks great! I love your idea of the different hair styles for before and after.

I hope I can get all that stuff to work. I may have to make She-Hulk a separate race, and incorporate her version of the outfit as the "skin" in order to get her muscled differently from the player, but I'm hoping that's not needed.

There's a known limitation that makes Serana regain her vampire eyes after she's cured and they're changed to regular ones. It seems that the override doesn't get into the save game, and they reset on the next load, or even a fast travel. But Genevieve's hair is a temporary wilder style anyway, so that won't matter. If you save with hulked hair, and then reload to a neater coif, you won't be upset.

Having defeated Alduin, Genevieve has progressed to Solsthiem, where she hulked out against Miraak, and finished him off too. We started collecting the Dragon Priest masks there, but were annoyed to discover a priest that didn't have one.

But we didn't come away with nothing. Gen was getting tired of the way her Arch-mage robes messed with her hair, so she had me transfer the enchantment onto the outfit we got from the Dragon Priest. Once I'd altered it to suit her, of course. I think it http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/Dragonborn.jpgmuch better then the mage robes did.

No, the outfit doesn't drop in the game, or rather, it does, but you can't pick it up. I re-worked an outfit from the Nexus (itself a re-work of another mod, that made it a male armor). Genevieve didn't like the clunky hip plates, because they make her butt look wide. We're still looking for better-matching shoes.

That actually looks really nice!

Posted by: ghastley May 29 2014, 03:42 PM

Being the new Guild-master and a Nightingale and all that, she'd really have preferred a shrine to Nocturnal instead. However, the only statues in the game are the Dibella ones, and Hearthfires provides a shrine, too. I discovered that although there is only one base form for the statue, it gets placed at a number of different scales, so they aren't all the same size. I she wants more, I have to get them from the right place to get the right size.

I've been considering making a miniature version of the Nocturnal shrine in the cistern for domestic use, but haven't got around to that yet. It will need to be a misc item to allow it to be picked up and dropped and re-positioned, and the cistern shrine isn't one.

She'd also taken Haelga's more elaborate Dibella statue, and tried using that, but it seems that it won't stay where it's put. That's probably because it remains the same formid after passing through the player inventory. All the stuff we placed after dropping it gets an "ff" formid, and retains its location. The Hearthfires Dibella shrine activator is placed by the DLC, and I haven't tried to move it after making it at the workbench.

I didn't make a mod for this, it's all done using SetAngle and SetPos command through the console, which is laborious but reliable. But the lack of choice in candles, and statues, may make me do a mod eventually.

Just a quick screenshot of http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/VicunaPortrait.jpg- a.k.a. Vicuña because she's soft, silky and VERY expensive. This is with Ethereal Elven Overhaul, from which I need to determine how to extract the morphs, normal maps etc. so that she can look the same as an NPC. Coincidentally, she's just become Arch-mage too. Now she's studying further with Master Neloth on Solstheim.

The skin shade and hair color are standard, but that face may be hard to reproduce as an NPC. Dark elves get baggy eyes whatever you do until the normal map is replaced, and I'm not sure if that's possible for a single character. Her eyes are Karliah's, except that I had to clone them before I could use them. Still trying to figure that restriction out.

Thanks to a mod I found, she has carpet matching the drapes. You'll have to take my word for that.

Posted by: ghastley Jul 19 2014, 02:41 AM

I've been adjusting the texture on Vicuña's outfit, and I think it's about where I want it.

The original version senn in her portrait before and http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/VicunaOutfitOld.jpg used desaturated versions of the Vampire and Telvanni outfit textures, so was basically greyscale. I tinted that with a bit of purple, and got http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/VicunaPortrait2.jpg and http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/VicunaOutfit.jpg. Still fairly subdued, but with a bit of her own hue.

She's wearing Black mage boots with it, enchanted to carry more. The circlet and necklace were given to her by Savos Aren, the Arch-mage before her. She inherited his robes, but I moved the enchantment over to her own.

Posted by: Grits Jul 30 2014, 05:32 PM

Yep, the townsfolk all came running up after the dragon battle. It was pretty funny.

That’s an http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10168/ style that Abiene gave herself with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48470/. It’s the same curly style that Valdi has, it’s just hard to see the curls with dark hair. (http://i.imgur.com/6ZVCaGP.png had dreads from that mod.) The hairstyler mod uses a spell to give the character a wig. You can use it on NPCs as well. I’m delighted to be able to give Abiene her “real” hair in Skyrim. She tames it most of the time, so her usual and NPC style is the falling-down bun. Though there’s a different bun she’s going to try the next time she’s in Riften, since that face sculptor is also a hair stylist. biggrin.gif

What is Skaggi doing in Abbie's house! laugh.gif

I love the traffic jam. Imagine what one fireball could do... wink.gif

Looks like Marius is waiting for the sun to go down so he can get to work!

It's about time Abbie let her hair down! smile.gif

I see Jerric is definitely checking out the goods! laugh.gif

It looks like Flash and Jerric are having a conversation.

Thanks for the wonderful screenies, Grits!

Haven’t touched Hearthfire. As Buffy rather whimsically says, “Everytime I think about putting down roots, my wings get in the way.” biggrin.gif

Wow (Rorikstead) – No doubt some of Jerric’s handiwork drew that crowd. viking.gif

Marius looks every bit the thief that I imagine he is! cool.gif

Neat to see Abiene’s hair down. I went back to your first screen (Weirdness at Lakeview) to review, as it shows a real good view of how Abiene’s hair looks when it’s up in the bun. smile.gif

No doubt about what Jerric’s lookin’ at! laugh.gif

Aww, horses always steal the show, don’t they? And my two faves – the paint and palomino. Of course, after staring at the horses for more than a few seconds, I finally noticed little Lil over on the right side of the picture. happy.gif

http://i.imgur.com/jDfLIHQ.png to find out who he was. What the heck?!

From the better-late-than-never department: Did you start a conversation with him before fast-travelling home? I've noticed that NPC's will continue conversations - especially ones they've started - across cell changes. So guards that are remarking on your skills will follow you indoors to do so. Since the game sees no difference between any cell changes, no matter the logical distance/time difference, they just keep chatting.

Posted by: Grits Aug 5 2014, 02:28 AM

Nope, but thanks for mentioning the possibility. Lil had never seen that guy before or discovered his mine location. She had been in and out of the house for a little while picking vegetables and such and not fast traveled to get there, which is why I was so puzzled. Didn’t know he was there until she heard him talking to Valdi and Abiene. I’m thinking it might be some mod madness where someone didn’t mean to alter him. Lil's game has survived a lot of changes.

I’ve also had a Legion courier run through the interior of Lakeview Manor while my character was inside, but that was in a game with more random encounter mods. Thankfully he was not pursued by a patrol of Stormcloaks. ohmy.gif

Acadian, the palomino and paint are also Jerric’s two favorites. The palomino is a slightly blonder and significantly thicker Kip in his world. wub.gif http://i.imgur.com/lNBvrbb.png when they’re traveling. She has the sense not to ask to borrow Flash!

Hmm, Marius could have trouble, since Jerric's sleeping companions include Ulfe. smile.gif

Tyra in blue is the player character. Rayya on the left has a new outfit also. Both dual-wield Scimitars.

ghastley, the Seethrough Sisterhood looks great! It’s nice that the game has scimitars and the Redguard headgear as a good start to a ‘harem / I dream of Jeanie’ look.

Grits, those are wonderful screenshots – the ‘guard is born’ shot had me mALXishly spewing coffee out my nose and doing treydogian gigglesnorts. And Jensa is simply stunning – wow! Homeschooling a couple of little Companions-in-training? I can imagine the possibilities with your renamer tool are endless. . . Serana the Complainer. Renaming Lydia what she calls herself (Sworn to carry your burdens).

In Buffy news, the mage armor spell gig didn’t last long. She (okay, me) is a little too OCD about keeping it active in a dungeon. Even dual casting for some extra duration doesn’t eliminate the distraction. Muffle (dual cast) lasts much longer and is irrelevant (at Buffy’s perked out sneak skill) if it wears out. More importantly however, is that the gentle glow from muffle is way cool; the excessive glow from mage armor is not. No sense adventuring if you can’t look great!

Speaking of muffle, although no longer needed for stealth, we pretend it helps protect from the elements – like wading through water in a dungeon, or going to bed with bare feet and little blue glowing sockies. In fact, Buffy uses muffle instead of slippers or sandals as well. If there’s a way to RP utility magic, Buffy’ll find it.

And speaking of utility magic, she’s been using a ‘sanctuary’ spell on Superian when she has to leave the mare outside a dungeon. It’s all pretend, but it is an illusion spell that causes all (except Buffy) to completely ignore the mare’s presence. It is cast by Buffy on the mare (we use the ‘Pacify’ spell to simulate that) – which gives Superian a neat gentle green glow) and is maintained by Superian’s own magicka. It is dispelled when the mare is touched by Buffy as it will only work on critters. A nice illusion gift from Kynareth. Happily, Buffy can still recall the mare to her from any distance using her ‘Call of Corsair’ power from Oblivion. In Skyrim, the actual recalling is done via the horn that you get with the Convenient Horses mod.

Knowing Jensa, I expected her homeschoolin' had something to do with hitting things! Is that Sofie with the braided hair? And Alesan traded in his pots? Maybe in Grown-Up Sofie's game, she will adopt Alesan.

And Ulfric finally gets his fair dues!

I made a little mod that extended the duration of the mage armor spells to 3 minutes. Otherwise they always seemed to wear off in the middle of every fight.

That’s Runa Fair-Shield in the braids and Hroar ‘I Was Named After The Sound A Lion Makes’ in the green, both from the orphanage. Jensa has no problem giving mean people a beating, even if they are mean old ladies. ohmy.gif

Mikke of Green River (now retired) adopted Sofie and Alesan. She was impressed by their industry. They say that Alesan is a Redguard, but to me he looks just like Hroar.

Lildereth feels Elys’s pain with the fatal knee injury. She really has to scamper when her spell wears off in a fight and she’s out of magicka. She’s quick in no armor, but not quicker than an arrow.

Here’s a picture from http://i.imgur.com/o6ZEBkt.png. They’ve spent a lot of time in Blackreach. Jensa just kept exploring even though Stenvar dropped some hints about the cold. They’re about to transcribe a Lexicon in the hope of uncovering the location of an Elder Scroll.

Funnily enough while they were in Riften provisioning (at the meadery) for this trip, Jensa was approached by an unhinged Argonian and given a different Lexicon. So she’s supposed to fill up one hunk of Dwemer metal with the secrets of a dead race and also return a different hunk of Dwemer metal that’s already full of the secrets back to where the dead race left it. Both are in her pack. She’s pretty sure she still remembers which is which.

Posted by: haute ecole rider Sep 8 2014, 03:47 PM

Oy vey! I hope Jensa can remember which is which, too!

Loved that pic! At first, because of the angle, I thought Stenvar was touching Jensa's back. Reassurance? Lover's Touch? Or fixing that darned bow on her back.

Then I noticed the torch was in his hand. D'oh!

Alise hated Blackreach the first time through. She just got the Elder Scroll and made tracks out of there. The second time, she had both Argis and Lydia at her back, and it was much better with the two of them, though Argis kept getting sidetracked and Alise had to go back and find him. So she (and I) were able to collect thirty samples of Nirnroot and figure out that the place isn't as immense as we first thought it was.

Thank Talos for Sinderion's lab with the Eternal Flame! With Frostfall installed, I've been much more aware of exposure and keeping Alise within a reasonable distance from a heat source. The camping mods (Frostfall and Northern Ranger) both have been invaluable when we were caught out in the wild, especially in the far north.

And Grits, you'd be happy to hear that not only has Jordis asked for sausages in my game, but Argis keeps laughing at her. She asks at the craziest times! Sometimes I think she has a ravenous appetite, after all, she is still a growing teenager. Other times, though, I wonder if it's just her version of whistling past a graveyard. It certainly breaks the tension of the moment!

Posted by: SubRosa Sep 8 2014, 04:01 PM

But Blackreach is such a lovely place for a honeymoon! biggrin.gif

As long as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinhead_%28Hellraiser%29 does not coming looking for the lexicons afterward, I think Jensa will be fine.

I think Blackreach can get claustrophobic at times. It is the thick, hazy air with the little particles of stuff floating around it in that makes it feel all closed in. Every once and a while if you leave Blackreach to go into Alftand or Raldbathar or one of the other exits, and then turn around and go right back in, the clear weather from outside follows you back in. It looks http://i.imgur.com/KaxhsQB.jpg when the air is clean and clear.

Great shot, Grits. I've loved those big glowey mushroom trees since first seeing them in Aravi's vids. Buffy's only been in there once - it was with Serana during the DG questline in her last playthrough. Because the place was pretty big and confusing, Buffy and Serana pretty much just followed their quest marker to do what they needed to do. Have not been back to really explore.

Oh yeah, very much so. That area was so dark when Lord Haaf-Mersey went through there. It's really dark. Even with his light spell activated, this wasn't much help. Light spells in vanilla Skyrim aren't like the ones in Oblivion, ya know? .. They only illuminate a 10 foot circle, if that.

hautee, I thought it looked like Stenvar had a hand on his woman, too. Jensa has a history of finding the edge by walking off of it, so he was not thrilled to be up that high. She does not know the Become Ethereal Shout yet in this game! Jordis and Argis sound like a fun pair. My characters who have met Jordis usually end up feeling a little maternal toward her, even when she is saving their butts. And of course Argis… HOT. Blackreach does get claustrophobic. I was glad that Jensa and Stenvar headed up to the surface several times to camp. They are after all on their honeymoon, and even Jensa does not relax with Falmer, chaurus, and various constructs roaming around. blink.gif

Here’s a pic for you SubRosa. http://i.imgur.com/RUCs0Ty.png engaged in badassery! I have no idea which of my mayhem-inducing mods allows bandits to attack inside Mistveil Keep, but that’s what happened. She has just had her difficulty bumped up and would not survive long in her http://i.imgur.com/c1WQB0L.png with an AR of about 12. I saw the spriggan and said something a little stronger, then took the pic. Funnily enough her summoned sabre cat was still with her from a fight outside the gates. Jensa had no idea what was happening so she just blocked with her sword throughout the fight. She was there in her role as Jensa Stormblade, High King Ulfric’s left-hand woman, checking on matters in the post-war Rift. (Galmar Stone-Fist survived the war and still holds the honor of being Ulfric’s right-hand man. Which is fine by Jensa since Ulfric is right-handed and single, and so… never mind. Anyway, “Stone-Fist.” Enough said.)

What I don't like about the lights in Skyrim is that they are lot harsher. They wash out all the color and overexpose everything. And just as you said, they do not illuminate as much. I eventually tinkered with making a night eye spell, that didn't make the screen blue and fuzzy.

Grits, between the action, all the characters, the swirling sprig-leaves, the ethereal sabre cat and the fire, that shot is simply Wow! cool.gif goodjob.gif

SubRosa, I agree about the lights. Candlelight is way too bright and, for a fragile character like Buffy, makes her feel waaay too exposed an vulnerable unless she knows (thanks to her detect any freakin' thing that can move) spell that it is safe and summons some help just to be sure. Buffy tends to use mage light much more - tossing it into dark corners and such. She has learned a helpful trick - if you cast a mage light on a follower or summon, it will hit them (non-hostile act), then settle above their head and follow them around like a candlelight spell. Not only that, when a mage light spell is 'attached' to a follower/NPC, it apparently doesn't count as your 'ration' of one mage light. That is, Buffy can pop a candlelight over her own head, put a magelight on a follower and still cast a mage light into dark corners. Silly, I know, but you know Buffy and 'utility' magic. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Grits Sep 10 2014, 08:58 PM

One of Jerric’s most gleeful discoveries was that in Skyrim he could cast real light using Alteration spells. He never could get Cyrodiil’s Illusion lights through his head. Right after he learned Magelight he and Darnand (played by Marcurio as this was a PS3 game) went hunting vampires in that very dark cave near Whiterun. Jerric spent most of the time sticking light balls to Darnand while Darnand blew up all of the vampires. It’s a fond memory.

Here’s a picture from today. http://i.imgur.com/FlXVgn2.png wub.gif

Posted by: Renee Gade IV Sep 11 2014, 11:16 PM

Lovely dragon pic, and is that from PS3? ohmy.gif That's gotta be tricky to capture if so.

That sounds funny with the Magelight spells. smile.gif Marcurio is so arrogant, so does this transpire toward Darnand? .. Like, is Darnand also supposed to be arrogant, and having Marcurio as Darnand makes it seem like you're with Darnand?

Posted by: Grits Sep 13 2014, 01:15 PM

Renee, that dragon is from Jensa’s PC game. She hasn’t finished the main quest or started Dragonborn in that one.

Darnand is supposed to be dangerously overconfident in some situations but not as blatantly arrogant as Marcurio. Darnand is much more reserved but he’s the most outspoken with Jerric so it worked in Jerric’s console games. Some of his comments are perfect, like the one about bringing artifacts back to the Arcane University and his exasperated rant when you ask him to carry things. A few of the extremely arrogant ones like “If these ruins frighten you, take comfort in the knowledge that I am here” work with Darnand’s wry sense of humor. If I didn’t know these characters so well the differences might have been distracting, but instead it was awesome to finally have them both adventuring together in the game rather than having one of them just in my imagination. smile.gif

ADDED: Oh, and I wrapped things up with Jensa for a while with a trip to Winterhold. Jensa finally reached Expert in Conjuration, and she really wanted to polish her skills a little with a rare session of paid training. The trainer at the college told her there was nothing he could teach her. That was disappointing and confirmed Jensa’s suspicion that the College was pointless other than as a containment area for daedra loving mages. Then she hit the tavern on the way out of town (of course) and http://i.imgur.com/KBNi4ZQ.png from SubRosa’s http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10733/ mod, which is where all of Jensa’s summoned animals come from. Starhawk helped her improve her skill and the two became friends. Jensa is from a matrilineal clan of mountain hunters but has wandered far from her origins, so meeting Starhawk at this point in her game was pretty much perfect.

Posted by: SubRosa Sep 13 2014, 04:23 PM

How perfect for Jensa! I suspect she might like the RL http://www.starhawk.org/ as well.

Persephone and I came to the same conclusion about the Daedra-loving mages of the Winterhold College. No, I don't want to summon an unbound Dremora, let alone a bound one. I wonder why the Vigilants never attack them? It would seem like an obvious thing.

Posted by: Grits Sep 14 2014, 06:29 PM

I look up the names of all of your NPCs when I meet them, since I know they all hold meaning. Starhawk was an excellent person to read about. smile.gif

Darnand is my character who feels most at home at the College. Not a big surprise. Even Jerric who is an enthusiastic supporter of College works and pals around with a Frost Atronach prefers to stay at the inn.

Here’s a pic from Marius’s most recent adventure. It’s a location from a mod. Things had gotten hectic enough for him to use the Flame Thrall scroll that he has been hoarding against just such an emergency. Then there was a cave-in, and http://i.imgur.com/R3EV23D.png is what they found next. ohmy.gif

She either wears http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/DrelkaPortrait.jpg, which is her battle attire, or else she'll wear something by the classical Greek couturier, Diaphanos, as seen http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/images/DrelkaClothed.jpg

She's towing Lydia around at the moment, but she might use Rayya for a while. As a mage, she needs a tank companion, rather than another mage.

As everyone probably knows, Misa's move to Skyrim from Morrowind has not been an easy trip. She lost her boobs nippies and privates in the move, and I've spent the better part of two days trying to find them. Here are some screens of her quest to find her missing body parts:

Misa getting aggravated that I won't leave her boobs alone for 10 minutes - but at least I got them fixed finally!:

Seperate Save Misa test new look - I just can't seem to choose which look I like best, urk!:

Aw, don't go away mad! (By the way, that tavern she is stomping off from is the one I'm making over in the Skyrim mods section)!

laugh.gif The adventures of Misa vs the Character Creation Monster! She looks like she's going to be fun once you get her bits all sorted out. If you're asking for input on her hair. . . as much as I like longer hair, I think the shorter style you have for her looks nicer - and I'll bet it will tend to cause less clipping as you get her into. . . more substantial clothes and armors? smile.gif

ghastley, Drelka looks fabulous in Skyrim! Her outfit looks great and I’m sure her battle attire looks even better. biggrin.gif I love that hairstyle on her. Rayya in her similarly Diaphanosed attire would be a fun companion. Dare I hope that some day my TG guy might get to meet her?

mALX, Misa looks great! The long hair is very pretty and it would be hard to choose just one of her looks. I think I prefer the way her face looks without bangs so you can see more of it. You did an awesome job with her!

Here’s a shot of http://i.imgur.com/U0ntHh0.png. She did the work to get here without thinking much about it. Now she’s wondering if it was a good idea after all.

Latest character: Drelka, a port from my Evergloam mod for Oblivion. She's a Daedra Seducer still, and using an Absorb Health spell (thanks to SubRosa) as her main weapon.

GAAAAAH! I was so caught up with fixing Misa up that I forgot to comment this - THIS screen (naked with wings) is the one that sent me back to Nexus trying to find that hair! Misa' hair was supposed to be red, but Skyrim's vanilla textures didn't really give you any options - and for some reason neither the ponytail mod or the Apachi one added any colors onto my character gen.

I found one that gave me a better red color at least, glad of that! With all those hundreds of hairstyles it was impossible to see hardly any of them with those sliders, urk. Wish they had a better way to parse through them.

Anyway, Awesome shots, and thanks for the inspiration and hope they gave me for a better red head, lol.

I LOVE that she towed Lydia around, would love to hear some of those stories, lol. I'm still catch-up reading Clark in Oblivion, but can't wait to hear what his encounter with Lydia is like - he can't come all the way to Skyrim and not meet Lydia, lol.

@ Grits - JENSA!!! I used to love following her adventures in Skyrim! She looks awesome !!!

The hair shade was tweaked in http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29624 which gives you the ability to set the colour, instead of just choosing from presets. I think that recommendation came from one of threads here. It's aware of the extra hair styles added by other mods, and includes a few extra skin overlays (warpaint, dirt, and other details).

If I remember right, I installed that mod to use Ethereal Elven Overhaul for an Elf character, and started using it for all of the races.

Edit: And I'll have to disappoint you. The Clark in Skyrim tale starts after he's already met Lydia, and she's his housecarl. The Dragonborn is someone else, but she's already in Clark's employ before that part happens.

What? No Clark and Lydia tale? I may have to beg for one, but I'll have to wait till I'm caught up a bit to do it. Reading is really sloooow for me now, but I do enjoy the stories still - just takes a looooong time to read them (have to keep re-reading paragraphs repeatedly to absorb).

Oh, on the race menu - that is what I was doing, but the first Misa (only the vanilla color textures showed up in it),

When I went back in after launching the game from SKSE I was finally able to access the redder tones.

Lopov, an axe is a handy tool - for chopping spiders, bears, bandits and firewood, eh? tongue.gif

Posted by: Grits Oct 27 2014, 02:51 PM

No mercy indeed! You Redguard is very bold going after those spiders with an axe. Nice!

I love that campsite. It’s one of the places I’ve used with multiple characters over the years since there’s safe storage there.

Great to see your Redguard warmed up and resting after the ordeal with the dragon. smile.gif

Thanks!

I had more screenshots to show but because of my HDD failure almost all content on my laptop was lost. indifferent.gif I was lucky enough to back up saves and mod list on Tuseday when the failure happened, so today, when I got my laptop back, I managed to successfully reinstall Skyrim and launch his game and it works. Phew! I was afraid that I'll have to abandon his game.

At least that fella in the cage has a nice bed of ashes to lay on...

I love the mountains outside of Southfringe. Your silent Redguard's teeth must be chattering! laugh.gif

And some nice quiet time with Angi. She has always been one of my favorite NPCs.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 2 2014, 07:55 PM

Lopov, some nice shots of Silence and Angi. The hermit and silent Redguard would probably make a pretty good team. . . .

Posted by: Grits Nov 2 2014, 08:23 PM

Beautiful views of the mountains!

Vampire lairs are so interesting to me. They have books and furniture and things in ice caves, but of course they don’t get cold.

It looks like Silence had a great visit with Angi. I think they would get along well. I really like the way he can lie down anywhere!

Here’s a picture of http://i.imgur.com/g7q22GH.png doing one of his favorite things.

I thought Jerric was going to be spelling his name in the snow! laugh.gif

I like the flame astronaut in the background, and her little ball of fire that is winging to the scene, a little too slow for Jerric's sword.

That was my first choice. Eating or drinking was gonna be my second guess. laugh.gif

Still loving that Kvatch shield on Jerric, Grits! And his road gear looks appropriate. Reminds me that he used to escort merchant caravans. Hmmm. . . I wonder if those Khajiit traders would hire him? I mean I know he doesn't have a tail, but he's certainly got the fur!

Posted by: Grits Nov 2 2014, 10:20 PM

I confess to giggling over the possibilities of Jerric’s favorite activities. biggrin.gif

Acadian, the old caravan guard uniform is exactly what I thought when I saw that armor, and the familiarity is why Jerric still uses it. smile.gif Lol, tail and fur.

Posted by: Lopov Nov 3 2014, 10:03 PM

Thanks all.

Nice shot, Grits, that shield reminds me of Kvatch. Hey, unless that is Kvatch shield! There's some animal running in the background too, I think.

Nice arrow in flight! Silence (is his last name Dogood? wink.gif ) is the perfect name/personality for an archer.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 3 2014, 11:13 PM

Yes, nice shots, Lopov. I bet if Silence had brothers, they'd be named Swift and Deadly. wink.gif

Posted by: Renee Gade IV Nov 4 2014, 12:48 AM

Great shots of Jerric and Silence! Haaf-Mersey also enjoys decapitations. When a decapitation occurs, the fight is definitely over.

Posted by: Grits Nov 4 2014, 04:06 PM

Great shots of Silence shooting! I love the sky in the last one. Angi's camp is a great location.

Oh, and I forgot to say that yes that is a Kvatch shield from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50505/, and the animals in the background are the two horses Banner and Flash. They run away from fights thanks to a mod. smile.gif
