Seems every time I'm starting a new game or about to start one, I have a dream related to that game. I was in an ultra-modern building which looked like a cross between the CSI: Miami workspace and a State of the Art hospital. Everything ultra-clean and modern. Computer monitors, stainless steel tables, stark lighting, and so on. My red-haired, real-life housemate Karen gave me something and said she had also played Mass Effect. She said something like "You can do anything. You can fight, you can tear apart some grids, whatever. Or, if you just want to find a place to run and hide you can do that too." That final suggestion, that's me! In games I can roll with brazen assassins, pretentious heroes, and everything in-between, but in real-life I'm a wimp. Karen disappeared, and now I was playing the game, except of course, I was actually IN THE GAME. <--- so that's what I immediately been doing, getting the hell out of the room we started in. All the sudden there was commotion everywhere. People rushing by, loud sounds in other sections of the building, and so on. I didn't want to know any of that. All I wanted to do was get the hell out, if I could. I kept moving through corridors and room after room. Turns out, the place I was in was really big. It wasn't science-fiction at all, though. I haven't played Mass Effect at all, nor seen much gameplay, but the place was more "ultra-modern Earth" than SciFi. 🔫 As I zoomed through the building, eventually there were less and less people. I finally found a room which seemed pretty quiet, so I went in there, and closed the door. The room was dominated by a large white bed, fully made up. To the far side of the door was a huge glass door which looked outward to a beachfront. 🌴 There were palm trees and sand. Whatever was happening in the rest of the building, wasn't going on here. I figured I could stay right where I was! Funny thing is at the end of the dream I realized there was a laptop in the room, and so I started trying to see if I could play Mass Effect on the laptop.

QUOTE(Lena Wolf @ Nov 8 2022, 07:25 AM) I too had a game-inspired dream last night. I was in the Nebula Isles, stuck in the ash caves, surrounded by ash monsters and that whole Sixth House paraphernalia... Had to eat corpsus meat to survive...
I know this is from a year and a half ago but eating corpsus meat to survive... Had a couple wild dreams last night. One of them is game-related, so I'll post that one. Let me just preface this dream by saying it was in a version of my real-life neighborhood. Was walking down a hill, and it was night. Not winter, but also not summer. There weren't leaves on the trees or thick foliage yet, so it must've been either late fall or early spring. Walked down the hill, and crossed a street. Across the street is a path. And down the path was a person. All of this was completely dark, okay? There were street lamps behind me now, but they did not illuminate the path. It was night. I was not 'in a videogame' or playing a game per se, but I acted as though I was. Which is to say, I threw (a spell?) or did something which caused the person to begin chasing after me. So, turned around, ran across the street and up the hill. The person (in my mind) was now revealing itself to be a Golden Saint, a Daedra. But it wasn't golden, it was dark. Anyway, the thing is chasing after me, but that was okay. I was in a version of the neighborhood in which I grew up. Houses were different but the layout was exactly the same. Which means I knew where I could go to hide. As I'm running I make a right and then run down another street. But there's a problem. Dremora Chulrs are on this street! And there are dozens of them! I figure this is "game over". But oddly, the churls leave me alone. None of them bother me. Maybe it's because I didn't bother them, right? The Saint is still chasing though. I didn't turn to look, but I could sense it was still behind me! So I ran down the street, and since this the neighborhood I grew up in, I knew another footpath was just ahead. So I made a sharp right down the footpath, telling myself I'd run all the way to Lia's house (friend from grade school). Here on the path it was completely dark. Plenty of trees. But I knew where I was. Down the path was what looked to be an outdoor merchant area, with open counters & stalls & such. Perhaps during the day time merchants try to ply their wares in what normally is nothing but woods. Because, normally there's nothing here but trees. But I was able to run behind one of the counters, ducked into a nook and waited. The Golden Saint soon came stepping down the path but did not see me! Yikes.

Had a dream this morning in which I was in my character's shoes once again. Vicious, this time. Pretty sure it was sunny. Was in an area which looked like metropolitan D.C., like downtown. But not any of the touristy parts. This was an area near a Metro station, where lots of people are going somewhere. As I walked around, my cell phone went *ping*! and I got a message. Which language would you like to choose? or something like that. ENGLISH. Which country are you from? or something like that. Wow, really? UNITED STATES. I guess the second question segued off the first one, but I rolled my eyes at the time. It's just that I was IN the U.S. when whatever nearby computer triggered my phone. Just seemed kind of redundant. The idea, though, is when foreigners come through the tunnels that their phone is going to help them navigate where they're going, in their very own language. In a way, that part of the dream is going to help me write next week's episode. Later on I was still in the same area, but with a group of seven other people, and we were standing on either side of a net. Four players on each side, and we're about to play volleyball, right in downtown D.C.! So, instead of playing on some grass or sand, we're going to play on concrete. The ball came to me and I totally flubbed it. It bounced right by, rolled onto the plaza, where a bunch of people were walking by. Next, it was my turn to 'start' (whatever the term is when somebody uses the underside of their fist to 'punt' the ball over the net). And again, I suck. The ball didn't even make over the net (or into it) it rolled under the net. Other players on the other side had to go running off before the ball went rolling into the street! By this point, everyone was mad at me! I am laughing at it now; all these people were strangers. But in the dream there was this dire seriousness, of course. Both teams took a break, and I asked a player on my side, a sporty-looking woman who looked as though she played sports every day, "is it okay for me to kick the ball? Do we always have to use our hands?" And of course, she literally blew her stack! On some level, I know we're not supposed to use our feet at all for gameplay, and so I think I was trying to communicate "hey, I SUCK at this game. Do you really want me on your team?" Got one! Was in some town which reminds me now of somewhere in Florida. Like, one of the towns near Miami or Tallahassee we've never heard of unless we actually live in Florida, perhaps. The place had sort of a Vice City feel to it, but was run down, and not one of the main cities. Just that alone separates this dream from hundreds of others I've had. I usually have dreams in my hometown, or Baltimore, or one of the cities I lived out west. Or even a fictional setting such as the Capital Wasteland. In the dream was a Laprima-like woman. Not my character herself, but somebody inspired by LPD. I pictured her with black hair, for instance. I never actually saw or spoke to this woman, but in the dream's backstory, we were new friends. We'd hung out maybe 6 times. But due to some drama, this woman was mad at me. She was mad, and hanging out with some other new friend, not me. Which was pretty distressing. I was running around in some shopping mall. Went up to its top floor for some reason, into a pleasant cafe, with a bunch of patrons sitting down, having lunch. Not sure why my dream self went in there, but I was freaking out, like 'how can this relationship be salvaged?' -- My mind was focused on this new person in my life, and what went wrong? A few seconds later I left the cafe. The dream morphed, so that it shifted to the outside world, and I was now commanding a game character. I became the omnipresent being who can't be seen in the game, you know? My character was some faceless female (I never saw her face) who was running in the middle of the street. Buildings, sidewalks, but my character was running in the street, not a sidewalk. Running, because she was being followed by this HUGE mass of enemies. Goblins, ogres, zombies, ghouls, etc! I would run my character one way, the entire mob followed. They were impossible to evade if running straight, so I did an about-face and ran through the mob. When the mob turned, did another 180, and ran through them again. Eventually my person escaped! Phew. I don't remember the rest. Phew though, just a dream. I had a strange dream last night, a bit of a nightmare. It started as a flashback of something that happened about 20 years ago, the house I was living in - that was once again my home in the dream, and I was 20 years younger... hmm... So here I am, standing in the sitting room, looking out the window. It's a sunny day in early March, the trees are still bare, it's chilly but nice... And suddenly something covers the sun, but I'd seen no clouds. I look up - a giant Dwemer Airship is blocking the sun... Someone jumps off it... The airship rises a bit, still blocking the sun... that someone goes straight into my house... "Well, what are you waiting for??? Shoot that thing down!!" Obviously, I've got a nice Elven bow and arrows on my back... Hmm... Alright then! I start loosing arrows... err... through the window... I think... or did my house have a sliding roof? Not my real house, it didn't, but the one in the dream may be did... "You can't shoot down an airship with arrows, don't be silly!" Who said that? Oh, yes, it's that person that jumped off the ship. She is standing right behind me, but not attacking. She is a daedra. A Golden Saint, I think - that same arrogance. "So, what do you propose?" I ask her. "Nothing, of course," she smirks. "Surrender. Resistance is futile. Your race and your culture will be assimilated into ours." "Umm... No?" "And what are you gonna do?" She laughes at me. That's the nightmarish bit. It was not funny at all. "You will do no such thing." Someone is standing between me and the daedra. Scorpio - my companion from Dragon's Dogma. "Who's this?" She glares at him. "Is he a daedra? He looks male! Is he at least genderless?" "What..? What's that got to do with anything..?" I am perplexed because Scorpio is not genderless, he's a man. "Males are leagues below females in everything, ten points off each attribute," the Saint tells us with disgust. "If he's male, he's inferior. Ha!" Hmm... I don't rightly remember what happened next... but he showed her who's inferior... and then I woke up. This post has been edited by Lena Wolf: Apr 1 2025, 02:02 AM

Oh heck yeah. Shooting down Dwemer airships, getting visited by superior races and telling them off... and my favorite, being young again. QUOTE "You can't shoot down an airship with arrows, don't be silly!" Anything is possible in dreams. Were you able to take the airship down, though? "And what are you gonna do?" She laughes at me. That's the nightmarish bit. It was not funny at all.Yes. These moments are so scary at the time. We wake up, and phew... This post has been edited by Renee: Apr 1 2025, 03:00 PM

No, I was not able to shoot down the airship. My arrows just bounced off it. Too realistic. But it was still nice to have someone come to the rescue. QUOTE(Acadian @ Apr 1 2025, 11:14 AM) You know you've been playing too many games when. . . . Yeah... when your attackers start talking about points and attributes...
