QUOTE(SubRosa @ Mar 10 2017, 09:34 PM) I liked Snowpiercer. It was a nice divergence from Chris Evan's usual nice guy Captain America role. More like the characters he tended to player earlier in his career, like Johnny DoucheBag Storm. Or the Ex from Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
A few things did not make much sense about Snowpiercer. Like why not just stop the train? There was no reason it had to keep going after all. It is not like there was anywhere to go to. How does it keep going after 18 years? I mean there are not any gas stations anymore. Even if it was nuclear powered, it would have still needed to get more nuclear fuel by then. And how come the tracks never got covered over with debris like collapsed buildings? Or a bridge never collapsed? Finally one bad guy comes back from the dead near the end. I didn't know this was going to be a necromancy film!
The train being kept moving was probably more of a human imposed rule than a true necessity. You know, kept the folks busy. That sort of thing. It did strike Khajiit as odd that none of the infrastructure of the track was compromised in some way.

QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Mar 11 2017, 01:22 PM) The Quick and the Dead is on Horrible movie technically, but it's fun! Is that the one with Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Leo Decapricon, and the guy from Gladiator? I loved that movie. It was so over the top it was awesome. Sam Raimi directed, which explains a lot. I am starting a Daniel Craig Bond marathon with Casino Royale. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Mar 11 2017, 07:26 PM

QUOTE(treydog @ Mar 12 2017, 11:55 AM) Breaking Bad- Bryan Cranston does such a great job of showing Walt's... "evolution" seems like the wrong word- "transformation" is better...
It isn't an easy show to watch- but it keeps our attention.
Khajiit likes "Metamorphosis"!

I saw the first two episodes of The Iron Fist last night. So far so good. I have never heard of the actor playing the main character but he is good. He is easy to like, and so far not too uber Marty Stu (he is not immune to being drugged, and said drugs prevent him from focusing his chi and using his Uber Fist).
The surrounding characters are interesting. David Wenham appears to be the big bad guy, at least so far. It is an interesting kind of role for him, but he does it well. The Hand has also been mentioned. They might be the real big bads, as the purpose of The Iron Fist is to destroy The Hand, and Wenham's character also seems to be their enemy.
The character of Colleen Wing is the one who interests me most of course. We don't know much about her, except that she teaches kenjutsu/kendo, and she seems to be training some neighborhood teens to be some sort of future vigilantes. I thought she said something about being Japanese, but the last name Wing says China. She did say she has not spoken Mandarin in a decade or so as well. '
I looked her up on teh internetz, and apparently the confusion is part of the how she was originally written in the comics. When she was created back in the 70s I am sure no one in New York City knew there was any difference between Chinese names (or languages), and Japanese. So they probably thought Wing was a perfectly normal Japanese name. The character is Japanese, and trained as a Samurai by her grandfather.
Turns out the actress - Jessica Henwick - also played X-Wing pilot Jessika Pava in the Force Awakens. I guess I did not recognize her because of the helmet and visor.

Khajiit believes the actor is Finn Jones, who played a very watered down Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones (not his fault, the writers did a severe disservice to the character).

I tried Into The Badlands. But I could not get past the first 10 minutes or so. The acting was just too wooden. I think they hired Kung-Fu fighters for it, not actors.
Speaking of Kung-Fu, I finished The Iron Fist today. It was good, like all the Marvel/Netflix shows. Lots of martial arts, and lots of betrayals. Some of it was a bit predictable. But mainly in the context of the previous shows. Like almost all the others the season ends with the protagonist being framed for a crime they did not commit, and they rush against time to prove their innocence. Seriously, I think Jessica Jones was the only one that didn't do this (But the bad guy mind controlled a bunch of cops to try to kill Jessica, so they kind of did).
But like all the others, the characters are good, both heroes and villains. Bakuto was especially good as a villain. Unlike the other Marvel/Netflix villains he seems really nice on the surface. But when thwarted, his dark side comes out. The steel fist in the velvet glove. We will definitely be seeing him again, either in The Defenders or another season of Iron Fist.

Lol, Khajiit has noticed this mainly with the main character, Sunny. The actor who portrays him delivers his lines like he's reading them. Though honestly, his character is a fairly emotionless guy so this one buys it. The others aren't great, but definitely better than the main. Plus, the lady who plays "The Widow" is sssmokin (in Khajiit's opinion)!

It features a Khajiit! Khajiit loves that movie, especially Margaret Hamilton as "The Wicked Witch of the West". Her scenes are Khajiit's favorites! "How 'bout a little fire, Scarecrow?!"

"How 'bout a little fire, Scarecrow?!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW_02k7LRMoYes! For Khajiit, it's like two different people are saying the line. Compared to the high pitched "I'll get you my pretty,", she practically snarls the "and your little dog too!". Awesome. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Mar 25 2017, 03:40 AM
