If you don't like having to do the Dragonborn mq just to get Solstheim back to normal (and be able to sleep again) - or if you are playing a character who is not the Dagonborn - you can sidestep it by doing the following:

Open the console and type in the following:

CODE
setstage DLC2MQ02 5
setstage DLC2MQ02 10
setstage DLC2MQ02 25
setstage DLC2MQ02 30
setstage DLC2MQ02 40
setstage DLC2MQ02 60
setstage DLC2MQ02 200
setstage DLC2MQ03 10
setstage DLC2MQ03 30
setstage DLC2MQ03 50
setstage DLC2MQ03 60
setstage DLC2MQ03 70
setstage DLC2MQ03 200
setstage DLC2MQ03B 5
setstage DLC2MQ03B 15
setstage DLC2MQ03B 25
setstage DLC2MQ03B 35
setstage DLC2MQ03B 45
setstage DLC2MQ03B 200
setstage DLC2MQ04 10
setstage DLC2MQ04 50
setstage DLC2MQ04 550
setstage DLC2MQ05 10
setstage DLC2MQ05 340
setstage DLC2MQ05 1000
setstage DLC2MQ06 10
setstage DLC2MQ06 200
setstage DLC2MQ06 400
setstage DLC2MQ06 550

The easiest way is to put the commands in a batch file. Just copy them to a text file in and put it in the Skyrim\Data folder. Start the game, open the console, and type in the following: bat {filename}

It will automatically run through the stages of the entire Dragonborn Main Quest. This will make it possible to sleep in Solstheim.

The downsides are that Freia disappears from the game, and you cannot get into Miraak's Temple or Nchardak. The appearance of the All-Maker Stones is not changed either (they still have the partially built Miraak buildings around them), and activating one will start the Miraak-worshiper building animation. The only way to change them back to normal is through the Bend Will Shout. You can use the console to gain the shout with the following commands:

player.teachword xx0179d9
player.modav dragonsouls 1

If the combat music won't stop playing after finishing the Dragonborn Main Quest, open the console and enter the following:
removemusic DLC2MUSCombatBoss

Neloth might walk into Nchardak and remain there for the rest of the game. To fix this use the following console command to bring him to you:
prid xx0177DA
moveto player

This will move him to you. Now open the console again, click on him, and type in:
disable

This will remove him from the game. Now add him once more with the following command:
placeatme xx01773A

This should put him back in the game with him following his normal routines.

I can imagine how many folks will really appreciate this. DB fell so far short in this regard. Forcing the MQ at you instead of allowing the option of simply exploring most of the island. In that regard, DB was a huge step backward from Oblivion's Shivering Isles - at least there, the MQ was unobtrusive enough that you could pretty much ignore it.

To add insult to injury, DB's MQ is. . . disgusting. Buffy tried to complete DB but after about 2/3 of the quest line, simply balked and refused to do any more of what the quest line required. Consort with a disgusting Daedra Lord, betray a whole village of friends? How is all that Dragonbornishly heroic in any way. Grrr. /end rant.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to provide this helpful info. smile.gif

Thanks for these guidelines, SubRosa, they may prove helpful in the future. I read about the MQ on Solstheim being obtrusive, but I didn't know that it is so obtrusive. Besides, we almost never see Acadian ranting, so it must be really bad. wink.gif I wonder whether the Daedra Lord in question is yet again Hermaeus Mora who is also involved in the Skyrim's main quest. There you are more or less forced to "work" for him as well, IIRC.

Both Alise and I hated HM in the Skyrim MQ on the first playthrough. So when we avoided the guy after we got the Elder Scroll, and I used the console to drop that quest from Alise's journal on the second playthrough. We didn't meet HM until we hit the DB questline, and there we kept our interactions with him to a minimum.

Thanks, SubRosa, for the batch file. I will have to file that away for the future, maybe with another character. If I bring Julian to Skyrim, she won't be the Dragonborn, that's for sure. Being Akatosh's Chosen is enough! Besides, it would totally break her heart to see what happened to her beloved Blades, not to mention Skyrim, since the Crisis.

This is amazing, SubRosa! Thank you so very much!

This will be so useful when Forrah gets to Solstheim. Thanks!
