Chorrol.com _ Skyrim cheats and hints _ Stuff That Should Have Been

Let's be honest? What should have been in Skyrim? What did the devs really miss out on?

Being able to kill Delphine, and disband the Blades for good.

Boats that you can sail. Bethesda expects you to swim out to all those islands along the north coast of the province, like the one where Septimus Signus lives, in spite of it being the arctic. You ought to be able to hop on one of those little boats and sail it around instead. Other games have had things like that for years. Even Oblivion had mods for it.

Being able to kill Delphine.

Or at least a water walking spell again, that would lessen the need for boats. At least for magic-using characters.

Making the civil war mean something. As it is the only difference between doing the Imp or Cloak side is the uniforms of the guards in half the holds, whether Whiterun and Solitude get trashed - or Whiterun and Windhelm, and whether or not there are still Thalmor patrols through the province. Unless I have a character who happens to feel very strongly about one side or the other, I never do the civil war. It just seems tedious and feels ultimately pointless.

Being able to kill Delphine.

Or at least make people acknowledge that the civil war happened. You would never guess that it did from how people talk after you complete the CW questline(s).

Being able to kill Delphine.

I will let other people bring up spellmaking (oops, I guess I did!).

Being able to kill Delphine.

Guild questlines that take longer than an hour to finish.

Being able to kill Delphine.

That is just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

I think we should be able to kill Delphine.

In Soviet Skyrim, Delphine kills you.

I wanted like a Vegas-style city of gambling and debauchery, maybe just across the border to escape Cyrodiilic law, on top of a mountain, or out in the sea of ghosts. Some appropriately cool location. Maybe run by Sanguine or his followers. Everyone would go there. Bandits, pirates, smugglers, soldiers from both sides, it would be awesome. Um, mALX, if you're listening....yeah.

I agree. Being able to kill Delphine.

Also, I think there should be more shouts and variants of weapons. They could've added spears and throwing knives. It's obvious they're capable of it.

They also should've had lycanthropy as a disease you can contract when fighting a werewolf.

I know you can mount dragons now, but to should at least he able to CONTROL the dragons.

They should also have more spells, and a wider range of schools.

They REALLY could've done so much more with skyrim. In pretty upset they abandoned it.

I still agree you should be able to kill Delphine.

Besides being a Wood Elf or using the shout, I would LOVE a viable Beastmaster class.

Posted by: King Of Beasts Aug 26 2013, 03:30 AM

Oh! They also should've had more types of armor.

some things that should have been included or made better imo

more spell effects and spellmaking (better magic in general)

as has already been mentioned, the ability to kill delphine and all other blades

more weapon types, each with different positives and drawbacks instead of just being slower but dealing more damage e.g spears would have good reach making them effective for lightweight melee characters who want to avoid taking damage compared with one handed axes or maces that are a much closer range weapons suited for defensive heavy weights who use shields as well. or at least something more complex, making it actually matter if you use a sword or a mace or a spear or any other weapon.

making your character have a greater impact on the world. except for a few guards hardly anybody mentions that you're the arch mage of the CoW or harbinger or the dragonborn who just saved the world from Alduin. Npcs dont have to recognise you as a hero but maybe they would mention things about quests you complete.

The civil war could've and should've been much better

Puzzles that consist of more than copying the symbol right in front of you

more consequences and restriction for joining factions. you can't join the companions and the CoW, and a mage can't join the companions just as a heavily armoured orc berserker can't join the thieves guild.

there's a lot more but that's just a few things off the top of my head...

Player headtracking.

YES. Thankfully a modder has taken care of that, so PC users can have headtracking.

They said there would be a kind of dynamic ecoenemy, that'd be pretty nice.

As cool as that sounds, my character would basically crash the local economy whenever they brought in a haul of loot.

Same here. As it was, it was a bloody fiddle trying to get places to offload all the loot I was bringing in. It was a case of:

"Hail, shopkeep! I bring good news, my good fellow, a bounty of weapons and armour of great value, taken from the foul [insert enemy type here] of [insert dungeon name here]."

"Do you? Oh. Oh dear."

"Forsooth! Tell me that thou were not in league with the fiends!"

"I wasn't, no, but you can't sell it to me."

"'Pon my word, why be this so?"

"Oh for the love of the Nine, stop speaking like that!"

"Like what?"

"With the 'thee'ing and the 'thou'ing and the 'forsooth'ing. Nobody speaks like that!"

"I do."

"You only started after you found out you were the Dragonborn. I remember when you spoke normally and didn't act like you were in a bloody saga. A bad saga I liked you then; now I just want to punch you in the face whenever you come in. And that's not good because I know how a face punching is going to end against someone who can shout laser beams."

"Erm...sorry about that?"

"Apology accepted. Where were we?"

"We were talking about a sale of the plunder taken by the villainous foes that I hath-"

"Ahem."

"We were talking about selling the stuff I took from the dudes I killed."

"Yeah, there's a problem there. I'm not buying any."

"Why the hell not?"

"I don't have any cash to buy it with."

"Why the hell not?"

"Well ever since a certain somebody, naming no names, flooded the entire market with weapons, armour and lost relics from forgotten civilisations, the value of all those things has just dropped. Priceless artefacts of great power are worthless artefacts of great power now. I used to make a great living buying loot from adventurers and selling them on at a mark-up, but nowadays Gavin makes more money than I do."

"Who's Gavin?"

"He's a potato salesman, Dragonborn. A gods-damn potato salesman. The market for relics and all-powerful loot is being beaten by the market for potatoes!"

"Well, everyone needs potatoes."

"Shut up! The point is, I'm not buying from you. You're an economic wrecking ball and thanks to you my family's going hungry."

"So where can I sell this to?"

"Scrap dealer? You could probably get a decent price selling it off to be melted down for scrap. That's what I had to do with the last haul you brought in. Dammit, I thought being an RPG merchant would be an easy job. I hate this dynamic realistic economy."

"So do I, friend-"

"I'm not your friend."

"-so do I."

Hmm, not much comes to mind actually, apart from the usual deeper questlines, more moral freedom and the like.

Different voices for all the races' shouts. At least in my game I only notice male and female shouts. Which is rather saddening as it makes my Argonian sound like a Nord everytime he lets loose.
