> The drag feature, What's it for, and do you use it?

One of the more fun improvements compared to Morrowind is the drag feature (with the Z-key), IMHO. I find it hilarious to grab the leg of a skeleton and shake it until it's all in pieces, or manipulate other dead creatures so that they lay in the most bizarre positions. Anyone else do this, or is this just another proof of me being a complete maniac? laugh.gif

But I'm wondering what it's really for? Does it have a real purpose in the game? Maybe it's for placing objects properly when decorating your houses, for example? Or can we find hidden stuff underneath object that we move?

I use it to create nice scenes in my houses, but it has no relevance for anything else. They just use it for immersion.

For some reason I have a strange fascination for whenever there's a corpse of a human and a rat I make it look as though the human is throwing the rat around by its tail. First thing I did beneath my cell was that...instead of following the Emperor I spent half an hour arranging the bodies.

Yes,you are a complete maniac laugh.gif Just kidding offcourse
There are some things where you will need the grab button. On one in the DB mission for example......And by moving objeects, you can sometimes reveal something secret, yes. You can drag bodyes,so you can hide your ''slopy mistakes'' but that doesn't work so well.

How do you manage it?
With drag button done so slopy,it's hard too decorate anything.....Especialy weapons and armor.

It's very hard...everything is kept at the distance you grabbed them away from you unless they hit something else, so arragnign a table I have to push them down on the table to bring them closer, the arrange them by clicking again. To get wine bottles up is hard though, you have to try and grab the end of the neck to tilt it up, and hope it doesnt hit anything else.

I once arranged a table scene in my Bruma house that took about an hour....but when I sat down my character knocked everything off the table!!!

So next time you see one of the table scenes that bethesda made, notice that the plate isnt in front of the chair....

I use telekinesis to arrange things, way easier.

I do to. Using the drag feature to arrange your items is just to much of a hastle IMO.

I use it to arrange stuff, namely bodies, or throw stuff.

I generally carry 'junk' items into dungeons so I can drop them and use the Z key to fling 'em into tripwires and such. biggrin.gif

I tried to sit a dead body at a table but he kept on falling down... sad.gif

I think it was made to show off the cute physics system myself.

Whenever I Assassinate somebody I always position their body to make it look like they are sleeping etc. biggrin.gif like once I made it look like a guy died by an overdose of skooma (Put bottles near his outstretched hand laugh.gif)

Thanks for all the replies and tips, guys. Good to see I'm not the only one 'wasting' time with this feature.

And I'm quite impressed with the physics simulation in the game (I've also tried to put dead people into chairs etc.), although it's a bit frustrating sometimes. Once when I was on top of a mountain doing a quest (had a hard time getting up) I killed a bear and wanted the pelt. But the bear started sliding/bouncing down the mountainside and disappeared into the fog below. I didn't bother to go look for it afterwards...

Khain, would be that be for a certain killing quest?

I did that too, had his head lolled onto the chair, a bottle in his hand and one that had rolled away.

I bound the grab button to Q. It makes things much easier. I just like going into all the mages guilds and knocking all the books off the shelves so all the guilds have this huge amount of mess in them

I put it to Q too! It just fits with the walking system more, as you don't have to ush your little finger down.

For the first hour I still kept trying to press z though

Thanks for the tip. Just tried using the Q key here at work now (no Oblivion game here though! smile.gif), and I actually found it easier to put my finger on the Z key rather than Q... Maybe my hands are a bit messed up... biggrin.gif
