So now we come to the tale of Mikke’s wedding.
First I should mention that Mikke of Green River is a werewolf. Here’s picture of her back in the
Dawnguard days with her best buddy Torvar. She loves to travel with Torvar because he’s funny, he doesn’t judge, and he usually smells worse than she does. He doesn’t mind when she wolfs out and eats a bunch of bandits either, even though one time she almost accidentally ate him.
Mikke went through some changes when she travelled with the ultra-feminine vampire Serana. She spent some time thinking about what family meant to her, and what she had been willing to do without. When she met a street urchin in Windhelm, everything became clear. She set up a household in the previously abandoned Windstad Manor (I made the abandoned part up) so that she could provide a home for Sofie and Alesan (another hardworking street kid). Her friend Lydia lives there with them (steward) along with the Housecarl, bard, and carriage driver. After all, Mikke is often busy with the world-saving. She did grow her hair out and ease up on the war paint so she wouldn’t scare the kids. Here’s her
new look.
So anyway one snowy afternoon Mikke and Torvar walked out of the Windhelm gates and into a dragon ambush. It took ages to kill the thing. They worked up a powerful thirst. Mikke said they could drink all night when they got to Riften.
They didn’t get far before Torvar convinced her to stop. Kynesgrove was
right there, they could just run up the hill for
one mead, he said. Mikke agreed.
In the Braidwood Inn, Mikke met a man named
Roggi Knot-Beard. Now, I have heard a lot of dialog from Roggi, but I never heard the things he said to Mikke. Maybe it was the way she kept standing there and talking to him, but he had a lot of nice things to say to her. She was smitten.
It took several trips back to Kynesgrove, but eventually she got up the nerve to hit on him. As these things go in Skyrim he immediately agreed to marry her.
A funny thing happened when Mikke and Torvar went to Riften to arrange the wedding. While Mikke was talking to Maramal, Torvar was idling in the background. Then when she turned around to leave, Torvar was standing with his arms crossed over his chest, glaring. I have never seen that animation from a follower before!
Maramal said come back tomorrow for your wedding, ha ha don’t be late! It was about 9 bells of the morning watch. Mikke suggested that they work off the pre-wedding jitters by slaughtering the closest bandit clan. Torvar agreed.
At the top of Fort Greenwall amidst a festival of axe mayhem, Mikke had the sudden thought (Quest Failed: Attend Your Wedding Ceremony) that she had screwed up big time. She sprinted back to the Temple of Mara, dripping bandit blood the whole way. Maramal was pissed. Torvar was smug. Mikke was confused.
Back in Kynesgrove she kept the apology simple. Roggi decided to give her another chance. This time she made it on time.
Here is a picture of
Mikke and Roggi at their wedding. Here is
one that shows an unimpressed Sofie and Alesan, an unhappy Torvar, and some guy in the back row that I don’t recognize. Anyone know who that is?
Married life can be confusing for a werewolf. She and her sweet husband share a bedchamber with the children. She hopes that’s why Roggi won’t put out. (Her beast blood keeps her from feeling her Lover’s Comfort.) Also you can take the man out of Steamscorch Mine, but you can’t take the miner out of the man. Roggi spends his days quarrying rock near the garden. He won’t cook for her either. Also he seems to have closed his shop.
On the plus side, he stoked up (or whatever) the mead barrels. Now the old Windstad place is known as the Ghost Marsh Meadery.
Mikke is traveling with Erik the Slayer now. When she looks at Torvar, she gets the feeling that she may have made a mistake.
