It's the first of the month again, and that means the developer quotes get updated: Dracan sent in 18 new quotes, and I just added them. Enjoy smile.gif

Posted by: stargelinho Mar 9 2005, 08:34 PM

As promised earlier, we have a special feature for you: Morganthefay went through the GameStar's video interview and took it apart bit by bit, pixel by pixel. Then she put it back together and took it apart again. The result is a very thorough report on everything that can be seen in it. She saw a lot of things I didn't, and interesting ones, too. So I hope you enjoy it smile.gif

Today, we have 7 new screenshots for you. Yes, you read right! 7. If you're an honest soul, they'll be new to you. Otherwise, you may have already seen them by googling around and getting to certain european sites, but no matter. As far as I know, only we have them with full descriptions of what you actually see on them, so you don't have to speculate if what you're seeing is Chorrol or Skingrad. Hope you enjoy them a lot even though the quality is not super.

I've added several new stories, the entire Ahnaressu's travels so far and the newest chapters of both the Tale of Sudhendra Vahl and the Story of Trey

so have fun reading smile.gif

Sorry about being so late this week with our Daedra feature, but we had some technical issues to sort out. But I can assure you, it was well worth the way. This week's Daedric Prince -Silann- is probably one of the most dangerous and evil Daedric Princes, and according to our sources within Bethesda Softworks, he will be in TES4: Oblivion. So make sure you read up and inform yourself about this abysmal creature!

It took a little longer this time around, but we finally updated the developer quotes for the month of march. It's such an incredible amount of quotes that we had to open up a second page. Just look at how much MrSmileyFaceDude has told us, it's simply amazing!

This week's Daedric Prince update features Azura, Daedric Princess of Dusk and Dawn. I'm pretty sure you've heard of her, so without further ado:

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/on_daedra_azura.html

I have to say, Darkwing once again out-performed himself. A little warning: Azura likes the fresh air on her skin, so if you're sensitive to that, just skip the picture.

While all descriptions are being researched and written by Sinder Velvin, Ambberfox provides the illustrations. We hope you enjoy this new section of Waiting4Oblivion.com, and we'll start it all off with an old "friend":

Alright, today, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) starts, and today, Bethesda will probably release their Elder Scrolls: Oblivion trailer - the good version, not that horrible handycam recording seen elsewhere.

As you know, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will be demoed on the E3, so we decided we had to be there to cover it for you and to return with as much info and footage as we can get away with. Now, we won't be allowed to record any in-game material, but we can and will report on what we think of the demo, as well as ask the developers a lot of questions.

All of this will be covered on Waiting4Oblivion as well as on the Morrowind Summit. The following link will be updated at least once a day with reports of what we have seen. Expect pictures and/or videos when we return next week.

It's been a while since we last updated the developer quotes, mostly due to the fact that we had our hands full with other matters. But we have not forgotten them! So here's the latest batch as gathered and catalogued of Dracan and Epyon. Enjoy!

Posted by: stargelinho Jun 5 2005, 08:22 PM

Our third Elder Scrolls Bestiary entry is the minotaur. Half man, half bull, this creature scared many an adventurer in Elder Scrolls: Arena with it's meat cleaver and it's dark, deep howl. We do not have a lot of information on the creature, but at least we got a beautiful picture! Enjoy!

We're proud to report that from now on, Waiting4Oblivion.com will run on it's very own webserver with it's very own 10mbit uplink. The main site has been moved, and the new Invision board has been activated. There should not be any of the problems we had the last time, as those were caused by faulty hardware on another server. If anything does go wrong or isn't working, we'll appreciate it if you let us know. Otherwise.... enjoy!

Posted by: stargelinho Jul 10 2005, 02:08 PM

We've finally updated our Mod Projects page with three The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion modding projects which -naturally- are all currently in their planning stages. As new projects emerge, they will be added to this page which shall become a comprehensive directory. Hopefully, this will provide these projects with additional volunteers and wo/man-power. Enjoy!

Posted by: stargelinho Jul 19 2005, 09:33 PM

This week, we present to you Clavicus Vile, the Daedric Prince of the Granting of Powers and Wishes. Experience from Daggerfall and Redguard teaches us to be suspicious of his gifts, for they have a tendency to betray their owners... Darkwing has really outperformed himself this time illustrating this Daedra, so enjoy!

We've just updated our Elder Scrolls: Oblivion screenshots. Not all of the screenshots added are new, but the ones that aren't are higher-res versions of those that're on the official site, so they're still worth checking out. Enjoy!

At long last, another batch of quotes have found their way into our archives of developer posts by way of the gathering and catalouging work started by Dracan. Behold, the splendor that is words of the "creators" sharing with us their informed views on what we await - Oblivion! These last few months have been good on the fans on this front, and it doesn't stop here. For now, enjoy the latest batch of quotes, stretching from May to July.

We're pleased to announce the addition of a new section to our developer quote archives: The offsite posts!
To fully substantiate our repositories, we seek and appreciate all material in their respective values and origins - the developers at Bethesda, and we acknowledge that potentially valuable posts/information is found not only in the usual or obvious places by expanding the scope with this new page. The "offsite posts" section will be updated syncronous with the regular archives, given a substantial ammount of material. It will house all developer quotes gathered from sources beyond the official ES forums.

Although dominated by a single entity right now, we have already seen a massive ammount of interesting revelations and views in these posts, so giving them a read is highly recommended.
The current batch stretches from Febuary to the end of July.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/developer_quotes_offsite.html

Posted by: stargelinho Aug 7 2005, 11:11 AM

We have just added two new fan-made wallpapers to our collection. Seeing how this part of Waiting4Oblivion has been very popular as of late, yet not very active, we'd like to encourage everyone to send in their contributions. Do not be alarmed if we do not answer your email immediately, as we do have our hands full at the moment.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/fan_wallpapers.html

On a different note, I'd like to draw your attention to a quote made by Bethesda's MrSmileyFaceDude regarding forced reloading. In May, we have brought you two interviews with Bethesda Developers, in which it was revealed that players would have to reload a saved game after killing one of the main-quest relevant NPCs. This has now been relativated: it seems that even though you are indeed presented with a savegame loading screen in such circumstances, you do not have to reload. Thanks to everyone who's borught this to our attention.

Well, it is about time. Finally, someone managed to score a picture of at least parts of the user interface used in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The Washington Post is that someone, and the picture also comes with a few background infos, mostly about company politics, yadda yadda. Anyway, You can even see the much-discussed compass - it's that little square Todd Howard is pointing at with his right index finger (not that round thing in the upper right corner!). Enjoy!

It's been a while since our last Daedra feature update, but here it finally is: Nocturnal, Daedric Prince of Night and Darkness. Read about her and learn that she's called The Unfathomable for a good reason.

Two more to go, and they're real highlights, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Remember last year in November, when a group of people organized at the official TES: Oblivion forum gathered questions for their own fan interview and submitted them to Bethesda Softworks?

Well, it happened again, and let me tell you, there's no finer source of information out there! Again, fellow fans have poured unending amounts of effort into it, and again, Bethesda has honoured it by answering every question! Enjoy - I know I did!

2005-08-28 - Sunday Mega Update
line

Today, we have three updates for you. The first is an update to our Elder Scrolls Bestiary which has been dormant for a while now. Rest assured though that we're back on track and from now on, we pledge to update it more regularily.

The new creature for this week is an old friend we met in many an Elder Scrolls game: the Frost Atronach. Read Sinder Velvins description of those ice-cold rascals and gaze upon Ambberfox slendid rendition thereof, and enjoy!

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/bestiary_frost_atronach.html

Our second item for today is the grand opening of the website of a Elder Scrolls: Oblivion modding project hosted by Waiting4Oblivion, Faerun-TC. These guys have been working on it real hard and I think it's great. I hope their mod will turn out equally good!

http://faeruntc.waiting4oblivion.com/

Finally, we have two new screenshots for you that have recently been released by the good people of Bethesda Softworks. While one of them should contain something already familiar to everyone who's seen the trailer, the second one is a real gem. Enjoy!

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/screenshots.html

Posted by: Epy Sep 2 2005, 06:52 PM

It's time to once again provide what keeps with "substantiating our repositories", and so freshly plucked quotes have now found their way into the archives. Even though some devs who frequent larger portions of our updates have slown down, they know how to keep us informed, interested and hungry for more -- particularly with regards to the magic system which recently had it's maiden revelations.
It's all good, and getting better. Enjoy this new update, adding quotes from July and August to the current batch.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/developer_quotes4.html

Posted by: Epy Sep 8 2005, 09:28 PM

Today, we've put another stack of quotes on the table, consisting primarily of offsite posts, but also includes a few additions to the regular archives.

Collected from discussions covering a wide range of popular topics, the new offsite quotes are quite informative, and offer some new as well as clarifying information. Be sure not to miss this unique input, and enjoy.

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/developer_quotes_offsite.html

But, as mentioned, that's not all we have today; a detail, of particular interest and joy to many fans, regarding the fabled quest compass was recently confirmed on the official forums. In editor's oppinion, the posted tidbits surrounding the issue deserve a place among the current batch that also discusses the issue thoroughly.
Four new posts by MrSmileyFaceDude have been added to the current page of developer quotes.

2005-09-15 - New Fan Art, X-BOX 360 release date announced
line

We've just updated a part of Waiting4Oblivion that -I admit it and accept the full blame- we have sadly neglected for quite a while now: the Fan Art page. Three new pieces have been added, all sent in by Reika. Thanks Reika, and keep up the good work!

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/fan_art.html

In other news, the official release date for the X-Box 360 has been announced. So what does that have to do with Oblivion? Well, if you want to get Oblivion for the X-Box 360, these release dates will tell you how long you will have to wait at the very least to get the game, since Oblivion is hardly going to be released before it's target platform. For PC gamers, it is a good guess that the PC version will be released simultaneously with the X-Box 360 version, so there.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/news/2005/0914-xbox360launchdates.htm

Stay tuned, folks, for tomorrow, we'll have some more stuff to gaze at. Until then, have a good time and enjoy!

Posted by: stargelinho Sep 17 2005, 01:00 PM

As promised, today we have some more stuff to gaze upon: Our first update for today consists of four all-new fan-made wallpapers. Keep sending them in - I promise I will process them faster in the future, as I have a bit more free time these days smile.gif

http://www.waiting4oblivion.com/fan_wallpapers.html

Our second update: three all new screenshots of the X-Box 360 version of Oblivion. Thanks to Bethesda Softworks, and keep 'em coming smile.gif

An update of Fan fiction has been added a few days ago. So hereby this post smile.gif

Posted by: Epy Oct 1 2005, 08:43 PM

"The British are coming..."

And we welcome them with open ears - three gentlemen in particular; Bethesda Softworks announced an additional lineup of voice-actors today, including Patrick Stewart ("X-Men", "Star Trek: Next Generation", "Star Trek: Nemesis") who provides the voice of the Emperor; Terence Stamp ("Star Wars: Phantom Menace", the "Superman" films) providing voice acting for parts of the ominous plot; and Sean Bean ("Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "National Treasure", "Goldeneye") providing the voice of the heir to the throne.
All three are held in legendary regards and will, alongside Lynda Carter ("Wonder Woman", "Sky High", "Dukes of Hazzard"), make out the game's cast of stars.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/news/press_093005.htm
(refer also to linked invidiual pages about each voice actor)

In other news, CVG.com has posted a brief interview by PC Zone with artist Noah Berry, in which he talks about the environmental art of the game.

Today, Bethesda Softworks finally released the first piece of the Oblivion official soundtrack, the title theme, along with an announcement that the music is once again being done by Jeremy Soule, who also composed the Morrowind score as well as the score for other well-known computer games.

Also, there is a new interview in town, and this one is rather in-depth compared to all the others we don't bother reporting about because they're just rehashing things we've heard about many times before. In this one, Gavin Carter gives a number of rather interesting information, for example he throws a new number of 1500 NPCs in the pot, replacing the old number of 'just' 1000 NPCs. There's also talk about technical issues, design choices and other interesting bits. The interview has been conducted by 'Elite Bastards'. Enjoy!

Wow. Just wow. After almost a year, Bethesda has released new Oblivion concept art. Where there were previously only 3 pieces out, now there are 12 (!) more. And what great stuff! The presentation is very sweet, the drawings are what you'd want to print out and put on the wall. If you enjoy this only half as much as I do, then this'll make your day smile.gif

Quoting Alexander:

Today the Developers of Bethesda Softworks have released two new items. To start off they've updated the race codex with new images of all the races, a new detailed map with all the provinces displayed on it and they've added the locations of the 9 major cities on their map of Cyrodiil.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/races_map.htm

Secondly the developers have added a new book to their Codex. The very first book of the upcoming game The Elderscrolls 4; Oblivion. It's a good read and I don't want to spoil too much of it, so be sure to look it up.

It's been a while since we last updated our Elder Scrolls Bestiary: our previous artist Ambberfox sadly no longer had the time to work on it, and we had to search long and hard to replace him. We finally found someone who is willing to take on this great job: the very talented Reika.

She and Sinder Velvin have just finished the latest addition to the Bestiary: an entry about one of my most favorite creatures, the nymph. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do smile.gif

I'd like to take the time and express my gratitude to Ambberfox for his great work for this particular section of the site.

Secondly, Bethesda Softworks have updated their Elder Scrolls Codex again, adding information about birthsigns and skills. Quite interesting changes there, so be sure to check it out and enjoy!

It was a year ago to the day that Waiting4Oblivion opened it's gates. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we've prepared some specials for you.

The first one is a breakdown of our history by yours truly that details how this site came into being, and that gives proper thanks to all those that contributed:

Secondly, for your amusement I've uploaded a very early version of the site, with the design we had back when we opened the site:

Finally, as a little token of gratitude to our loyal visitors and users, and because it is more than overdue, I've added a search option to the site:

Russian Elderscrolls.net has a rather interesting interview up with Oblivion's interface designer Natalia Smirnova in which she talks about what inspired her when creating Oblivion's menus and controls. And don't worry, the interview is in English smile.gif

Finally. Phew. We've just finished compiling volume 6 of the developer quotes collection with what I believe to be a record number of 130 quotes. And people believe the devs don't talk to us anymore! These contain exciting new information from news about magic to things like the automap. Enjoy!

Every now and then, an article on TES: Oblivion in a video gaming magazine is so interesting and so important that we get it, sample it and pick it to pieces to extract as much information as possible. Today, the german PC Games magazine published a 10 page feature on Oblivion, accompanied by 5:30 minutes of video material on the mag disk. We've written summary for both the interesting bits in the article itself, as well as a summary of what is in that video. Enjoy!

In case you haven't already seen this in the official Elder Scrolls Newsletter, Bethesda Softworks has added some new material on the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Collector's Edition (available for both PC and XBox 360) on their site. One's a trailer for the "Making Of" DVD that comes with the CE box, the other is a team diary by Pete Hines, vice president of PR and marketing on the various versions of Oblivion, including details on what will be in each. Enjoy!
