Chorrol.com _ Skyrim _ Silly things you have learned about Skyrim

Posted by: Lady Saga Mar 7 2013, 03:52 PM

What are some silly or odd things you have learned in Skyrim? Here are a few of mine.

It can snow lots, without a trace of accumulation!

It is possible to walk (jog, or even sprint) fully on snow and ice, and never fall flat on your ass!

Why risk your life when chopping wood can earn hundreds in one day!? hehe.gif

Skooma sucks (literally) in Skyrim. Nobody knows how to brew it like they did in 3rd-era Cyrodiil. kvleft.gif

Alcohol causes drunken effects for 30 seconds at a time! indifferent.gif

*On a rare cloudless day* Ahh! What IS that giant white ball in the sky? panic.gif

Food often has restorative properties. Who needs a hospital bed when a bowl of vege soup will do just fine?

The art of spell creation has been lost in just 200 years, while the technology to make crossbows has finally been re-attained. huh.gif

Guards often speak in funny accents! laugh.gif "Wait! I knuh yoo!"

Lots of folks apparently have their sweetrolls stolen.

Cat-people make the best travelling sages.

ha ha yeah, that is true.

Actually, getting hit with an arrow can sometimes be a good thing, if the PC is an archer!

When the stars are right, immense reptiles that must weigh in excess of ten tons are able to fly backwards.

Since they were cross-bred with spiders, horses are entirely able to walk up vertical surfaces without trouble, but will refuse to enter cities due to fear of being swatted by fearful homeowners.

hehe.gif Yeah, eat those cheese wheels! And that's true about horses and their abilities for sure. Actually....I have learned that..

Horses can swim great distances.

Nobody ever attacks carriages. wink.gif

Looking into somebody's pocket is not a crime.

No one can drown in Skyrim, except for player characters.

Merchant's chests magically refill with gold every night.

Merchants keep said chests buried underground, yet have no trouble putting money and items into them or taking them out.

We have shovels, but we cannot dig.

Posted by: Lady Saga Mar 7 2013, 06:14 PM

Ha ha I like the shovel one! We can dig things up with pickaxes, but shovels? Get out!

Here's a few more:

Olfrid (patron of the great clan Battle-Born) is a name I'm sure you know well!

Crickets, cicaedas, lightning bugs, and other warm-weather insects can survive (apparently) in Skyrim's brutal cold.

Attracting the opposite sex is as easy as wearing a cheap amulet around one's neck.

Shouting affects the weather!

Turn Undead and paralyze are not Illusion spells.

Because it’s so taxing, vampires can only be charming once a day.

Your wounds will slowly knit themselves back together given time, but if you transform into an unstoppable, Hircine-fueled killing machine, then that's completely out the window.

They are, actually. It doens't show in the game, but their stats become stronger in both wolf and normal form if the moons are full wink.gif. It is called "Full Moon Rising."

Lore-wise, they shouldn't have full moon transformations . . .except for Sinding, who isn't part of the Circle's strain. Enough rambling though, I completely agree with you on this matter. First person, especially -_-

Oh and werewolves who need Totems in order to have hunter's vision. What the hell is that, Bethesda?

Skyrim is home to voracious but unseen scavengers. Sometimes you have to leave a giant or dragon carcass right outside your front door. But the next time you go outside it will have been carried away, skin, scale, flesh, and bone.

Except nothing will touch an ash pile.

Thieves only know one method of killing (gutting like a fish).

Court wizards are often preoccupied, never sleep, speak with a lisp, and/or have us "figured for a mage", even if our character is brandishing smelly armor with a giant battleaxe to boot.

Ataxia has become quite a problem back in Cyrodiil.

If a merchant happens to be selling food that seems way too fresh, chances are it's stolen, or there's something fishy going on.

One arrow to an appendage is apparently enough to end an adventurer's career. (hah!)

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fianna and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Gerda are very serious about their jobs but, apparently, they don't do windows and they won't venture outside Dragonsreach long enough to take the skeleton out of the moat.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Mila_Valentia works with her mother, to sell fruits and vegetables. It's fun most days, but hard work.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Braith, in Whiterun, is a Redguard child? huh.gif

Yeah, aren't her parents Nords?

No, her parents are redguards. Braith looks like a Nord, not a Redguard

Becoming a vampire among vampire comes with many perks. However, becoming such a creature greater than normal vampires also leads one to make new enemies. Such as doors, low ceilings and passages fit for a man to cross.

Dreadful enemies they are, obstructing the great vampire lord with endless resolve, until the vampire lord surrenders and assumes his lesser, mortal form. Behold the power! rolleyes.gif

Also, the vampire lord's new family will insist on adressing him as mortal and suggest speaking to one's father to 'correct' this issue. The vampire lord may show his power to prove he is not a mortal, but this is considered bad manners.

Receive 500 gold for walking a couple of hundred metres through a city to deliver something completely useless.

Receive 500 gold for walking halfway across Skyrim fighting off the seemingly endless supply of things wanting to kill you to deliver something completely useless.

Receive 100 gold for killing some giants or a dragon or a bandit leader with a bounty on his head.

What?

Posted by: ImperialSnob Jul 29 2013, 07:34 PM

Two guys fight over a girl yet they never talk to the girl until someone else marrys the girl.

Also if your companion can train you in something they still will make you pay yet you can still ask for the money back and they'll give it to you.

Also cats don't exist unless they're big sabretooths and people don't need to go to the bathroom.

And Three-Dog is in the Dark Brotherhood.

That you can actually die by being shot in the knee...

I'm going through the Companions thing again...And me and Farkie are in Dustman's Cairn...So we get to that bit where there's loads of them...Farkie goes down leaving me with FIVE of them to take out...So I thought...After an epic battle - and two deaths - I finally take the last one down with barely any health left...So I go to take a potion that my health will be restored...

No...I think to meself...I'll get me restoration up...The instant I come back out of the menu Orcie-boy sprawls on his back with a damned arrow in his knee!!...

"Well that's irony..." says the boy from his chair...

"Hmmm..." says I as I switch the PS off...

So the guards are more hardcore than the Dragonborn? At least they survived to make a career-change. laugh.gif

Something I realized a few days ago. Killmoves apply the enchantment of whatever weapon you have equipped to the poor victim. Ok, so far so good. It's nothing to be surprised about. The silly thing is that the game doesn't account for what the killmove's animation actually is.

Clock them in the skull with your hammer of flaming doom? Crispy fire everywhere.
Headbutt them in the face? You're so hot you light people on fire! Yol, baby!

Toss them on the floor and step on their face? Dragonborn stomps so hard the sheer friction makes them burst out in flame!
