My AP Biology class (back in the Stone Age) was fourth period, which was split with lunch in the middle. We dissected cats at the end of the year, during spring track season. I had a great time with my lab partner and our cat Fluffy, but at lunch we all smelled like formaldehyde and I couldn’t eat. By senior beach week I had to buy a new bathing suit so that I could keep the top up. “Starved” was not the look I was going for. Damn cat!!

College physiology made me decide that dragons must use magic to fly. tongue.gif

@Lord R: the formaldehyde didn't agree with my NOSE! I had bloody post-nasal drip after every session! Ugh!

@Grits: my college physio class convinced me that dragons coevolved with birds from the ornithosaurs. wink.gif

First two exams are now done. Brain is still kind of coming up for air after those. Five more to go after that, and then I'm free.

Gwuh.

And I'm with haute ecole rider on the dragons point. Dragons are awesome. Dinosaurs are also awesome. Therefore, dragons must have come from dinosaurs. That's the sort of science you just can't argue with.

Today was a great day. Yesterday was graduation. A bunch of friends and family attended, and my best cousin arrived at midnight. Today we had a brunch at a nearby country club. Afterwards a bunch of guys and I went shooting shotguns. Some of the guys and I hadn't seen each other in awhile so we had fun reconnecting. It was my cousin's and a boy's first time with shotguns, so it was a fun experience for them. Someone even got my mom to shoot a couple of shots (never would have accomplished that myself).

I am beat. Goodnight, y'all. Best wishes.

Glad you had a good day, sounds like a good way to celebrate.

Good times here too, best weather I've ever seen in Edinburgh I think. It's almost creepy to look up and see no clouds, makes me wonder what's holding all that blue stuff up and if it might fall wink.gif Great timing for the finish of exams, lots of barbaques and sitting in the sun (at the first flash of warmth and sunlight Scots immediately buy disposable BBQs, awful sausages and booze and sit in parks getting sunburnt).

Also just got the keys to my new flat. It might be the flat that time forgot as I can't see that anything has changed there in 40 years, certainly not the decor. Still 70s must be due to pop into fashion soon right? It even has one of those gas ovens you have to light with a match - you know from when filling an enclosed space with flamible gas and putting your arm in to light it was still a good idea.

It's so surreal, how a person can be there one moment, and gone the next. How do you ever get past something like that..?

During the night between the 28th and 29th of May my father's father died of a heart-attack. And that's just the most recent death this year. How must his brothers feel? I can barely stop crying, but his brothers have now lost their uncle, mother and eldest brother all within a few months. My father's dad was 70, and they were just planning his birthday party, but now there'll be another funeral. We know it was quick, and he didn't feel much pain (if any), but that doesn't feel like that big a comfort. My other granddad was sick last year, and my grandmothers husband(mother's mother's husband) got sick this year and there was talk about lung-cancer. Thankfully, that was not the case, but there's been so much...

I want to say that I'm happy for those of you who're graduating/have graduated and all that, but I just can't be happy right now. Congratulations, though...

My thoughts are with you, Saquira. One of the (questionable) advantages of coming from a small family is that I did not have to deal with loss too frequently.

There can be no comparison of pain or grief. What I will say is- know that we are here for you.

Wooo!

And yet I am, and liveā€”like vapours tossed.
I long for scenes where man hath never trod
A place where woman never smiled or wept
There to abide with my Creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept,
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass belowā€”above the vaulted sky.ā€¯
