Here’s a thread to discuss the Expedition to Lost Knife Hideout (working title, lol).
Our characters are presently gathered in the Wobbly Goblet Playground thread. Recruitment is in progress.

Look at Darnand surrounded by the ladies.
What we are doing: Filling soul gems. I know this says its a bandit hideout, but we'll put some creatures in there too. Maybe Falmer?
As Elisabeth mentioned in the previous thread, this is getting a little crowded. While I don't want to turn anybody away, any more people will make the adventure more difficult to keep organized.
We can possibly split into two groups when we get to the cave, so each group can post independently of the other. We'll pretend there is a fork in the path or something if we want to do that.
Thoughts?

Sounds great! I went through there recently and there are some very interesting spots. Falmer overrunning a bandit hideout (just a further thought) would be a good way to get crafty opponents with trapable souls in there (Arkay must hate the Falmer), and those chaurus pets are not easy. Plus they always seem to have a few spiders…

I do think Falmer would be fun to have along. I even had a few ideas for different Chaurus subspecies that Uleni and I were going to unleash upon the players in the old Fort Sutch RP that we could use in this, if we're having Falmer as enemies.

Chaurus types thought up were:
Chaurus Trapper: A subspecies of Chaurus, Trappers are deadly predators that hunt as stealthily as possible, using ambushes to pick off their prey. Unlike other Chaurus, Charus Trappers do not spit poison; instead, they launch a sticky, weblike substance from their mouths, able to entangle even the most agile adventurer with ease, and use that to drag their hapless victim towards them. With their limbs ensnared by such a web and no means to fight back, such victims are easy prey for the Chaurus Trapper's fearsome mandibles.
Chaurus Queen: Just imagine a really big, really mean, really scary Chaurus. And then have it being ridden by a Falmer Warmonger. Voila, instant miniboss.
Also, another idea I had for Sutch was:
Cavern Ghasts: Resembling oversized, blind and hairless bats with pale grey, almost transluscent skin, Cavern Ghasts are human-sized predators who hunt in the larger caverns beneath Nirn. They are able to cling to walls and ceilings with their claws, and can glide short distances, and their slimy skin is hard to grip. While they have sharp talons and curved horns that are more than capable of goring an opponent, their most fearsome weapons are the barbed, poisonous stingers on the end of their prehensile tails, which can be a deadly surprise for an enemy who is unaware of it. They usually either swarm enemies or attack from ambush by dropping from cave ceilings, picking off individuals, and are particularly averse to fire.
Not sure if the Cavern Ghasts would necessarily be wanted, but they could be a fun enemy to drop into the mix, and Lost Knife Hideout has big enough chamber to justify the presence of a few.

Sounds great! Dangerous enough so that some random guy with a sword can't just stroll in and clean them up, but still reasonable to expect a group to have a chance against them. The Trapper especially has fun possibilities.

Both of those creatures look good Mustard. We should definitely put some of them in.
I also want everyone to know there is a pretty big surprise planned for the end. It isn't going to be dangerous for your characters. I just want you all to know something is coming so it isn't a total WTF moment.

There's quite a bit of estrogen in the party, so Kayla will probably stick by Darnand, as she doesn't get along with women. Especially Vera.

I don't know exactly, but I'd guess near Falkreath since that's reasonably close to Chorrol. Also pretty close to Hammerfell. KC?

KC, are we ready to jump forward to the cave entrance? I don't think we need to go through everyone's watch shift, but we can if someone wants to.
Quick question. I know the usual thing is to follow a posting order. Are we going to do that or just keep moving forward at a reasonable pace and let people jump in with a post when they want to? I don't want to step on toes by posting out of turn, but sometimes it's hard to tell if an RP is stalled or just waiting.

To be fair, 5 is generally considered the ideal size for a D&D adventurer party, which our lot basically is. Picking through and dancing around probably isn't going to be the case considering that we've got a set positioning for each of our characters; theoretically, at least, Kayla wouldn't need to do that as her place would be (theoretically, at least) at the front of things getting in everyone's face and everyone would already be behind her. The only time that picking through and dancing would occur is if everything has gone magnificently awry.

Not to mention two groups split in that redonkulously huge cavern is a bit more logical. Both Kayla and Vera are used to working alone, and might accidentally hurt another member of the group. Kayla would feel guilt, and Vera would lose money.
It just feels better for me if we split. If you really want to stay with a group, I don't mind if you join Kayla and Darnand.

I can go either way, or we can have them together for the first part (big cavern with waterfall) and then split up to clear separate areas (like if they branch off), then back together at the end. Whatever works.

Just thinking, if we do split (an idea which is currently making my inner DM cry 
) how are we going to split it up? Looking at the group dynamic we've got:
The all-rounder/leader, with Aravi (who's also got soul-trap capability)
The heavy-hitter, with Kayla (who doesn't like Vera)
The archer, with Vera (who doesn't give a damn about Kayla)
The support caster, with Salyan
The offensive caster, with Darnand (and again, soul-trap)
So if we do split (and here I must point out that we've got a group who, when together, actually complement each other's strengths, weaknesses and specialisations really well), then Kayla would be going in the other group from Vera, and Aravi and Darnand would need to separate as well so that there isn't one group that can trap souls and one that can't.
So possibly it could be Aravi and Vera, and then Kayla and Darnand, and Salyan can go with either group which decides they need her most.

Because my post will most likely be "And Kayla followed." And that'll just piss people off. That way whomever is leading her can show her what they want her to see all in one post, in case they want her to see something specific.

We are going to have Falmer and all of their wonderful little pets (chaurus, spiders 
) Mustard made up a couple of creatures as well that we can add. I remember a lake type thing in there as well, so if you want to add something aquatic go for it.
In game, this was a bandit cave, but they are all going to have been killed by Falmer. That's the blood Aravi saw.

I think stay together. We can adjust the critter load to the number we have posting at the time.
We could also split up for part of it anyway. Darnand would need backup from Vera, since Aravi has the other method of soul trap. It would be neat to see Aravi and Salyan working together.

I'll have Darnand rescue Kayla if you guys want to take care of the chaurus and Falmer? He'll get at least one soul trap off on the way over the falls. Darnand is not going to lose sight of his goals, lol.

You might have missed this, but Liz up on the main thread that she's taking a break from RPing and the forums for a couple of weeks, so that was her putting Kayla on a bus so to speak so that she's out of the RP while she's gone. Going to try and rescue her would fit with Darnand, Aravi and Salyan's characters (Vera would just be like 'meh', I imagine ) but it would have to be unsuccessful so that we don't have a playerless character around.

Considering that Liz is gone for a while, I think you should probably wait. The current Disney death with Kayla being washed away over the falls means that she can bring her back in when she needs to, and we can still go look for her once these two archers an any other nasties that might appear are dealt with only for us to not be able to find her.

Just post! It's easy, y'all! Type words! If you don't want to take all the glory, have your character partially kill or injure the enemy. You don't have to plan every teeny thing. I was really hoping to read some action :/

The 'strange lumps' Aravi saw are Mustard's Cavern Ghasts from page one. I don't know how strong these suckers are, so that will determine how many we will run into when they enter the chamber ahead.

Just posting up a bit of information on Cavern Ghasts. Some of it was on the post on the first page, but I'm putting it here for ease's sake, and putting a bit more information down too.
As well as this goodness, the main thing to note about Cavern Ghasts is that they're ambush predators; they can hit very, very hard and if one manages to pin you you're basically dead, but due to the fact that they're hollow-boned and basically every muscle in their body is needed for flight, they can't stand up to much punishment at all. You hit one that's flying anywhere on its body with just one arrow/ranged spell and gravity will do the rest of the killing for you, and if an initial ambush fails they'll almost invariably retreat instead of sticking around to fight. In short, glass hammers.
Now, have fun playing with the poisonous hellbats, everyone!
