QUOTE(Renee @ Sep 29 2017, 10:45 PM) Callidus, you learn to use other ways of aiming once the crosshair is off. If your character is sneaking for instance, you can use the sneak-eye. I'm not sure how it works in 1st person, but in 3rd person, the way I aimed on Xbox was not exactly dead-center. It is slightly off-center, matter of fact. After awhile you get a feel for aiming using these vaguer methods. Overall though, the game starts to feel more like your rolling dice.
My detect life-using characters have an easier time too. DL definitely helps with aiming in 3rd person, because now I can see where the NPC or creature actually is; my character won't be blocking the view as much.
I'm getting the hang of aiming without the crosshair, but I'm somewhat tempted to switch it back on. I can't be sure, but I get the impression that the crosshair is actually below the center of the screen in first person, or at least, that's how it feels now that it's gone. But it's not really gone. Once I hit an enemy I get their health bar popup, effectively negating the removal of the crosshair. But not having it onscreen does improve the scenery somewhat Gideon's been indulging his curiosity today, checking out Forts Nikel and Empire, and was rewarded for doing so. In Fort Nikel he found a shield enchanted with reflect spell, and trading blasts of magic with the imps in Fort Empire got him plenty of practice with destruction and restoration He is rather annoyed at himself though. After getting the shield he headed into the Imperial City to sell it, and was intending to stop by the Mystic Emporium to inquire about furnishings for Frostcrag Spire, but he was tired from his recent travels and completely forgot about it!

Frostcrag Spire. Man, I always forget about that place. Kahreem has all sorts of DLC in his game for instance that he's ... oh [censored]... Thieves Den! Forgot about this place too!

Joan of Arkay, a character I've been with on and off (mostly off) since May of 2013, is about to leave Bravil, and head to Leyawiin. Down there, she will be my first to explore Deepscorn Hollow. She just ascended to Level 7 too, and I put +2 into Intelligence, +2 into Agility, and +4 into Endurance. as she gets nearer to the teens in leveling, I get more and more nervous. Then again, she's only Level 7 after five years of gaming so... her game is pretty slow-paced.

Funny about Frostcrag, I've generally ignored it too, apart from a quick look round the door to scavenge ingredients (it's too inaccessible, basically). But I've been playing with a mage character I'm pushing to the OP limit, just for a laugh, and it's proving rather useful with the right extra mods. For a start, all those Mages Guild portals are a bit useless given that you have to hike back to Frostcrag to reuse them - but if you have the Mark & Recall spell from LAME (or Supreme Magicka, I forget, I have both), you can set a recall to get you back. So Cyrodiil is now your oyster - and you're right next to the +15 Alchemy altar and can leave your apparatus in the nearby chest. Still haven't made any use of those conjured atronachs, though. The thing is there are mods that do this better, like Hoarfrost Castle, in which... Some of these DLCs don't seem to have been that well thought out, frankly. Not impressed by Thieves Den either - once you've cleared the cave, why then assume that your thief character suddenly wants to set up a business operation (which is basically what we have, even if it's technically piracy - well, it's a fine line, even in real life)? I much prefer the idea of a thief just making use of a disused home, as Kahreem does with the Marie Elena, makes sense. But, of course, that didn't offer any DLC sales opps... Mehrune's Razor ain't bad though, and we all love the Horse Armour, don't we? This post has been edited by tegeus-Cromis: Oct 10 2017, 03:34 PM

Lothran knows about your new graphics card? Don't hurt me!t-C: I've only had one character so far mess around with Frostcrag Spire. This was a gal who'd gotten kicked out of the Mages Guild, so it kinda made sense for her. As with all DLC and mods though, it has to be the right character... ----- And that character is Lady Saga / Xbox version, who I ported over to pc earlier this year. I did some gaming with her last night. She's headed to Cheydinhal, and then to Wind Range Camp, where she's going to find some bandit outlaw guy who's wanted by the Imperial law. That's what she's been up to lately--bounty hunting. SHe's good at it too, since she's well-accustomed to looking for some of these losers out in the middle of nowhere. QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 25 2017, 01:00 PM) Lothran is now on his way to Cheydinhal after having left Leyawiin and Bravil. I think this is a bit of a break in his routine; usually he goes to the Imperial City and spends some time there first before going to Cheydinhal. But this time he thought eh, what the heck. Let's go there now while we're on the road. All I could do was tag along WHAT? He was supposed to go to the Imperial City but decided on Cheydinhal instead????? My goodness the shock of the unprecedented event, sir. How are you handling this sort of unpredictable moment? Kidding. "All I could do was tag along" is exactly how I'd describe my experience with Lady Saga most of the time. Now you know what it's constantly like being with her. She'll leave Leyawiin to hunt down some wanted criminal in the middle of nowhere, but almost without fail, she'll see some cave or some odd landscape feature and next thing you know I'm spending hours on some sort of sidetrack with her. If there's anything that's predictable about her, it's the fact that she's so unpredictable.
