QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Dec 27 2018, 10:14 PM) Oh gods. Is that for real?
Sadly yes. Its better if you don't add milk and use it for snacking but once you add milk and eat it like cereal...ODG it's horrible! This post has been edited by Dark Reaper: Dec 28 2018, 07:42 AM

Since converting to an oatmeal based breakfast that meal has become my favorite of the day. As of now it consists of oatmeal (duh!), one sliced banana, three to four sliced strawberries depending on size, a small amount of Sugar Free Blackberry Jam blended into the mix for added flavor, cinnamon and two packets of artificial sweetener. With this a down a large glass of milk.
Next favorite standard daily food is the hard-boiled egg sprinkled with paprika I eat on the side along with my salad suppers. As for salads, they are what they are. Some days I enjoy them. Some days not so much. It's hard to maintain steady enthusiasm for them when you eat them every day of the week, every week of the year, year after year. As to favorite salad ingredient, I'd say finely chopped Jalapeno. Mushrooms are yummy too when you can get 'em firm and crisp. Tomatoes are all but tasteless these days. Same for Bell Peppers. But hey, they're veggies and reasonably cheap. (Yellow Pepper were marked down to the price of Bell Peppers at the store this week. Their description labels them 'milder than bell peppers.' How in the world can something be milder than a bell pepper? I passed.) Onion is okay. Carrots are nice in a mellow way. Tuna, while not normally considered something to mix into a lettuce salad, is passable and cheap. Lettuce is lettuce. How much (or little) I like any particular dressing varies on a day by day basis.
Lunches are more iffy...being a variety of soups (or chili) or sometimes a Wowbutter sammich. Today's soup was a mistake, I won't be buying it again. Yesterday I had Hormel's specialty green chili (Mary's) which I always enjoy. Wait, was it soup or Wowbutter I had today?
The Fuji apple I split between lunch and supper can be glorious, bleh, or anything in between depending on quality. (I once had a full Fuji after BOTH meals. But their price kept going up while my take-home pay didn't.)
As for my occasional splurge meals, I of course enjoy those. Usually. Every now an again I set down for something special only to realize I'm not in the mood for it. Or it's simply not as good as anticipated.
I don't snack. Never. Not in who knows how many years. No even tempted.
I last ate a hamburger early 2009. I know this because that was the year we had the bad ice storm that knocked out power for five or six dates. I distinctly recall driving into the city my brother lives in once roads were safe and finding one of our better burger joints open for business. (Few eateries were.) I don't dislike burgers. It's just that as seldom as I splurge other foods take priority.

And smiling since I imagine friend Grits may be doing the same. I look forward to this post every Christmas the same I do Decrepit's And here I went and disappointed you by posting about my Xmas day meal in another thread. Be that as it may, I've an addendum of sorts. At the start of the meal I beat my brother back to the table. Our drinks had arrived while we filled our plates. First thing I did once set down was chug a gulp of water. Only, the waitress mistakenly reversed our drinks. What I downed was a swallow of some sort of clearish soda. Talk about an obnoxious taste! Once addicted to sodas, I weaned myself off them around 15yrs ago. Haven't had a drop since...until yesterday's swallow. I quickly moved our glasses to their rightful places on the table and didn't mention it to my bro. He can be prickly about such things. I've never been a fan of the clear sodas, but probably could have gotten addicted to colas if I hadn't discovered coffee, lol. QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Dec 27 2018, 07:10 PM) Urgh! As much as I love salads = could never bring myself to eat one every day! That would make me sick of them really quickly = variety is the spice of life! I have to agree with you on the burgers, though = not a fan. (Not a big red meat eater anyway, and burgers are at the bottom of that list, lol). Yeah, it can be a chore to eat salads as frequently as I do, especially with vegetables nowadays tasting so bland. (At least those I can afford tend to. There might well be plenty of ultra yummy salad veggies out of my price range.) Something I forgot to mention during my long diet discourse...while I turned down those yellow peppers I did buy a red peppers from the bin next to them. It too was sold for the price of a Bell Pepper. These I like! Just enough spicy heat to give them a nice flavor. A definite improvement over Bell Peppers. I like them so well (again compared to Bells) I debate adjusting my food budget to include them once the sale ends, if possible. On the subject of salad, some time back someone, Sakiri I believe, made a passing comment about Ranch dressing. It reminded me that I've not used Ranch in ever so long. I'm not normally a big fan, but for variety's sake decided to give Ranch a look-see next grocery run. I ended up buying Hidden Valley Cheddar & Bacon Ranch. Expecting disappointment, to my surprise I rather enjoy it. As to burgers, I don't dislike a truly good burger. Far from it. Again, it's a matter of priorities for my limited splurge meal forays.

Do you know the name of the red peppers you got? Khajiit wouldn’t mind a spicier replacement for bell pepper in this one’s Cajun/Creole recipes.
