Just wanted to mention that my Gramma turned 96 this Tuesday. While she has a bad knee, hearing and vision, she's as clear in the head as she's ever been and today we played poker again, as we always do every Friday afternoon. While I have been on a winning streak lately, I do not take it for granted. Her luck with games and lotteries is legendary! She always gets full house when I get a flush!! tongue.gif rollinglaugh.gif laugh.gif

I can only hope to be as clear-headed as she is if I even reach that age myself. I'm so glad she's been around for so long happy.gif

Happy birthday to Grammocu. I'm glad she's doing so well. We lost Acadian Sr just a few months ago at almost 99. He also had a very good and long run at life and remained sharp till the end. smile.gif

Oh, no. Did I miss that or wasn't it mentioned perhaps? Either way, I'm very sorry for your loss, Acadian sad.gif

Happy-est Birthday wishes to Gramm-acu! I hope you have many more years of poker games together! I love so much how close your family stays with each other; it is heartwarming!

No worries, mirocu. I didn't mention it. It was not a surprise and, like I said, he had a good long run!

Happy 96th to granny mirocu, and all honors to Acadian Sr. I've one aunt in her mid nineties. She's doing fine, so my brother tells me. I've not had contact with her since attending her husband's, my favorite uncle, funeral late 2017. (There might well be one or two more survivors from that generation of the family, but that aunt & uncle are the only extended family members I've had any knowledge of in years, other than the afore mentioned funeral.

@Acadian: Oh, so sorry you lost Acadian Sr.! He's been in my thoughts a great deal lately, especially now that I'm dealing with my mom hitting 85 and starting to show age related issues - she is more frail, it takes her longer to do housecleaning, etc. She has severe vision loss due to retinitis pigmentosa, and has moderate hearing loss that is only partly alleviated by the cheap hearing aids she got a year ago. I'm glad you got to see him not so long ago, he sounds like a special guy. You have been blessed to have had him as long as you have, and I like to imagine him living on in you, much as Acadian lives on within Buffy.

Sorry to hear about the senior pilot Acadian. I guess he's off to fly with Greg Boyington and the rest of the Black Sheep in that squadron in the sky. May we all live as long and interesting lives as he!

Thank you, friends. Though his mind remained sharp, the darn body kept forcing more and more limitations upon him. Mostly, I'm glad that he is now free of those limitations. smile.gif

'Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine,[1] is celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus and is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.' - Wikipedia

'Today is the 16th of Sun's Dawn, a holiday celebrated all over Tamriel as Heart's Day. It seems that in every house, the Legend of the Lovers is being sung for the younger generation. In honor of these Lovers, Polydor and Eloisa, the inns of the city offer a free room for visitors. If such kindness had been given the Lovers, it is said, it would always be springtime in the world.' - UESP Lore

Giving myself my sixth IgG infusion as I type this today. I've been doing this every two weeks on Sunday for the past three and a half months. Tomorrow I go back to my immunologist and we'll see how much this has been helping. I still feel about the same, having trouble with reflux and mucus (both nose and lungs, ugh). But I did notice that when I got my cold right before Christmas, I bounced back from it within a couple of days. That is a HUGE improvement over last winter, when I would be out for two weeks just getting over it.

With the novel coronavirus going around (at least two in the Chicago area), I've been very diligent about washing my hands at work. Also, my company instituted a new cleaning policy for the duration - wiping everything down twice daily with 70% isopropyl alcohol, which does a lot to ease my own mind about potential exposure. Now if I can just keep those unvaccinated kids away from me . . .
