QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 31 2015, 09:47 AM) Today dad and I started to put up walls on the new garage. I know I said we were gonna do it next year, but what the heck. Better do it now so we can paint it next year instead Hmm, I need some motivated house fixers at my son's new house. Plenty to do there! *mALX sends tempting bird seed to Mirocu and Poppa Bird to fly here and help...*

QUOTE(Decrepit @ Nov 1 2015, 05:20 AM) I have a project of sorts that I hope to accomplish this week. My current military retiree ID expires at the end of the year, me turning 65 this coming January. I'll need a new ID showing me Medicare eligible. Research has shown that I can get the new ID beginning 90 days prior to my birthday. If my math is current Wednesday sees me within the 90-day mark.
The hassle is that the nearest issuing authority is several hours away. Neither my car nor myself are what we once were. The drive there and back will challenge both of us. Still, it's gotta get done. Better now than once cold weather sets in.
Speaking of projects, I washed and waxed the car!!!!!!! It can be argued that I waited ten years too late before waxing it, allowing much of its paint to peel off. But hey, I'm lazy. Better late than never?
That might be a trip better made with a friend in a better working car to drive you there and to take the strain off you; be there if needed if the trip gets to be too much for you. Around here they have agencies that will transport you to appointments at doctor's offices or the Social Security Administration (etc) if you have untrustworthy transportation and are elderly or infirmed in some way; (and usually when the destination is too far to afford a taxi to take you there and back, which it sounds like this place is). We have the same situation here on the Veterans Affairs = 3-4 hour drive through some of the worst mountain roads imaginable, and if you are lucky you won't be crushed in a rock slide or your car go out of control on the steep grade and/or drive off the side of the Black Mountain. (they have "Runaway Truck" ramps all down that mountain for those huge semi trucks that go completely out of control on that steep a grade; and more than one semi was not able to stop by the end of that ramp). http://www.crashforensics.com/images/blackmountain1.jpghttp://www.fsrengineering.com/sector_transportation.htmhttp://cmsimg.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcsi...elf-rock-slideshttp://www.sleepingdogstudios.com/Network/...12_image030.gifThis post has been edited by mALX: Nov 1 2015, 05:53 PM

QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 2 2015, 10:05 AM) One of the long walls is done and the other very close behind! Our boards lasted way longer than we thought. We won´t have to get more than a few new ones when we start putting up walls on the back of the garage. I say walls because we will leave a gap so we can easily walk into the garage without having to go around it every time. Man, we have done so much this year! You sure have! Really good the old boards are still in such good shape to be used!

Some have cracks and some have weird shapes and can´t be used, but the overwhelming majority is fine. They have been in storage for years and years and years and they´re only this good because they have been inside behind closed doors and with small wooden pieces separating one layer from another, allowing air everywhere. We would have to move it all up to us anyway, might as well put them to use Pixies to prove it really happened will be up later
