Ok so at any given time Khajiit has ideas for settings and stories whirling around in his mind, and sometimes he must write these ideas down to stop the whirling and collect his thoughts. Usually this one writes these ideas down in a notebook, but since some of them are fan fiction for TES and Fallout, Khajiit thought maybe some of you would like a few of his ideas and that a thread devoted to them here might be a good idea. This thread is mainly for Khajiit’s personal use but feel free to post comments if you so desire.

Khajiit wrote this waaaay back in 2016 on the old Bethesda forum when discussing daydreams for what BGS’s new projects would be (gee, look how that turned out, hunh?), and it’s been on his mind a lot lately. It was meant to be a very brief introduction to the world this one was envisioning. Please forgive the switching of tenses in places, it was written rather hastily and “on the fly”.

An airship drifts across the sunset sky, it's long journey nearly at an end. Through a porthole in his luxurious cabin, the Ambassador spies The Tower and lets out a relieved sigh. His diplomatic mission drew on way to long, to his mind; the ignorant Provencials being incapable of running their own province. The airship lands at the special dock just out side the city walls and the Ambassador disembarks. As he walks down the gang plank, he glances around the water front and his eyes fall on the spot where once, a long time ago, a sailing ship was moored and its pirate captain was murdered while still docked. Some said his own crew mutineed when they learned he was taking more than his share of their ill-begotten spoils. Others said it was, them. The Ambassador shook his head as if clearing a vision from his mind and continued on his way, flanked on each side by the Honorguard, clockwork muskets on their shoulders. A glint of light coming from one of the lesser towers on the city walls caught the corner of the Ambassador's eye and he turned his head to squint in the direction it came from. Suddenly, the Honorguards closest to the Ambassador were showered with red gore and brains as the Ambassador's head snapped back and he fell to the flagstones of the water front, dead.

On top of the tower, a lone figure dressed in a black long coat and a black wide brimmed hat watches the Honorguard drag the body of the Ambassador while retreating into cover through the lens of the scope on his rifle. Red eyes glint behind the goggles he wears to shield his eyes from the setting sun. He looks at the clock on his ash colored wrist and decides to head to the inn for a drink before reporting the missions success to his superiors. He glances one last time in the direction of the chaos he just created and uttered two words: "Hail Sithis".

It is, essentially, The Elderscrolls set in a steampunk Tamriel, a few eras beyond what we are dealing with in Skyrim. In this future, scholars were finally able to crack the secrets of Dwemer technology and usher in a technological revolution. Magicka is still a thing, and though firearms have been invented, melee and archery are still important in combat. Steam machines are common and vehicles carry travelers from place to place. Khajiit thinks it would be interesting having familiar TES material (Daedra, monsters/mythical creatures, the various races and lore) brought into a little more technologically advanced world.

Though I shudder to think of firearms in Tamriel, this is very creative and you have some neat ideas that fit in nicely to the future Nirn that you imagine. goodjob.gif

Hmm, DB 1 / Ambassador 0. wink.gif

Steampunk Scrolls? Now that is an interesting idea. But to take your idea to its fullest, I would humbly suggest that rather than Tamrielites rediscovering the lost secrets of Dwemer technology, the Dwemer themselves return to put it to despotic use. After all, know one knows what really happened to them. They just disappeared when their giant robot god turned on. They could reappear at any moment.

It’s so far into Nirn’s future that it might as well be a fan fic spinoff of TES, so firearms should be considered as more of a character’s personal preference if they want to use them or not. Melee, archery, and magicka are still valid (even preferable, in some situations).

Right?! Khajiit can not for the life of him understand why people are so opposed to this idea! You mention it over at the Bethesda forums (old and new) and everybody acts like you just said the sky is actually the ground. As you say, no one knows what happened to them and Beth could bring them back whenever they wanted. This idea came about when Khajiit pondered, “What would happen if one of the multitude of Dwemer scholars figured out how to replicate Dwemer technology?”, so the idea of the Dwemer returning didn’t really cross this one’s mind. Khajiit must say that he likes the idea of the Dwemer returning and subjugating the other races of Tamriel creating a new Dwemeri Empire. Thank you for the suggestion!

Another idea taking up space in Khajiit’s noggin is a straight up fan fic of Fallout set in and around New Orleans. The premise is that, during the Great War, New Orleans was actually spared a direct hit by a nuclear weapon. Unfortunately, because so many nuclear warheads were going off in such quick succession all over the planet, among the many issues caused by this was that the weather patterns were really f’d up. The nuclear fallout combined with terrible hurricanes that ravaged the US Gulf Coast, killing millions. New Orleans was hit by one of these radioactive hurricanes and it turned the city into a permanently flooded mess, essentially breaking up the city into a few large islands suitable for rehabitation. Boats are a must when traveling from place to place. When people were finally able to reclaim the city, a large (by post war standards) settlement called Big Crescent was founded on one of the islands and defended by its citizens. Whatever dry land was left within the city is constantly fought over by various other groups (scavers, gangs, pirate raiders, etc.), making most of New Orleans proper a warzone.

In addition to dangerous humans, the local wildlife became horrifyingly mutated in the face of the radiation. Besides the giant roaches and other insectoids common throughout the post war wasteland, crawfish mutated into a unique species of Mirelurk, and catfish transformed into human sized, amphibious bipedal monstrosities colloquially known as “Mudders”. Those terrors are nothing compared to what became of the American Alligator, however. Though fairly rare and elusive, these creatures (that came to be known as “Chomp Dragons”) are fearsome beasts. Standing on two legs to heights up to about 10 ft tall, with stout bodies covered in thick, scale armored hides and long snouts rowed with sharp teeth backed by ridiculously powerful jaws, Chomp Dragons are rightly feared by the folks of Bayou Country. All that considered, the meat from all of these fearsome creatures is a part of the local population’s diet along with smaller, non threatening animals. There are also rumors of furry humanoid creatures called “Roux-ga-Roux” living deep within the surrounding bayous and swamps, though no one has been able to prove their existence...

The stories would follow individuals from various walks of life as they live out their adventures in this dangerous world. One character known as “Jazz Man” is a trumpet player in a jazz band that moonlights as a mercenary. He does jobs ranging from private investigation, security, and even some shadier jobs, as long as the pay is good. Yet another character is a woman who acquired a functioning paddlewheel riverboat (think similar to The Dutchess Gambit in the “Point Lookout” dlc from Fallout3) who runs a small pirate crew. Besides the main characters, one can imagine a multitude of interesting and colorful characters. And hey it’s New Orleans so supernatural elements on rare occasions aren’t out of the question.

There actually were rumors that the next Fallout after 4 would have been set in New Orleans. It would’ve been cool though; that would’ve been the bomb!

No pun intended eh? tongue.gif

New Orleans is a place I know some what from taking many trips there. It would be cool walking familiar streets in a game. Like, Khajiit went to DC once and it was neat running and gunning there, especially in the Mall area.

I think New Orleans would be a cool place for a Fallout game. I used it once back in my pen and paper Shadowrun game, and it was a real fun place to set game.

There is a critter like the Comp Dragons in Nuka World. It is a cross between a gator and a deathclaw = a Gatorclaw.

I like the idea of the Jazz Man and his traveling boat.

The White Tree might be lurking somewhere deep out in the bayou as well.

Well it’s not Jazz Man’s boat, it’s the pirate lady’s. Now, Jazz Man is a resourceful guy and would definitely take note of possible methods of traveling unhindered up and down river. And he and the fair captain might have had a history...

And yes, there would definitely be some Lovecraft inspired elements in some of the stories. Maybe an Ug-Qualtoth cult since this Lovecraft tribute is already well established in the games.
